Dorla |
OK, earlier Dorla made 3 infusions of endure elements, 1 of enlarge person, 2 of cure moderate wounds, and 1 of cure serious wounds. She also brewed a mutagen that adds to dex and lowers wisdom. Just a minute ago, she made an extract of fly. Also, she makes 2 infusions of ant haul. Remaining elixers for day: 0 level 1, 4 level 2, and 2 level 3.
Dorla also installs a potion of cure serious wounds (a level 3 potion) into Chirrup.
I'm out of level 1 extracts for today, so if there's time I would like to brew a potion of ant haul to have enough. However, I can't find a price for such a potion, so I don't know how much the half price to craft would be.
Dorla |
Because the cost is less than 250 gp, my copy of the core rule book (6th printing) says 2 hours. It's in the description of the brew potion feat, pg 119. I don't know if everyone even wants to wait that long, though. It's the only way I can have an ant haul for all of us.
edit: fixed typo of 9 for (
Thetsu |
Keep in mind that Alchemist can "fill" a slot in a minute so keeping some Extract slots unmade can be very useful. I.E keeping a slot free and later making an extract of spider climb for a party member during a slow moment.
Thetsu |
"My trip went about as well as to be expected. Honestly, I don't care too much about it nowadays but I figured since it was on the way I'd take a peek." Thetsu says, getting back to Dorla about his trip.
Dorla |
Sorry you didn't find anything,Thetsu. Here, you'll want this to get the vehicle out of the sinkhole. She hands Thetsu an infusion of ant haul.
If no one minds waiting, Dorla takes 2 hours to make a potion of ant haul, and then is ready to leave. She also hands Ugash an infusion of ant haul.
Just as we set out, Dorla drinks an infusion of resist elements, and suggests everyone else do likewise.
Yeah, I'd guessed it was good to leave some slots open. I've made only the things we need and one or two emergency items.
Rynjin |
You march up the road, and despite it being too damn hot outside, it feels like a comfortable 72 degrees outside due to Dorla's potions and extracts. You arrive in under an hour.
At a glance, the sinkhole looks as innocuous as a sinkhole can look, just a big hole in the ground. Down below, with the sun directly overhead, you can see a lot of scrap metal and vehicle frames, along with various other junk like ripped backpacks, empty potion vials, food leavings, and the like.
The only sound you can hear is a faint dripping noise.
Ugash |
Ugasn start unscrewing one of the fingers of his metal arm.
Just keep watch here - He trhows the finger into the sinkhole and concentrates, I use a steam point and then take 20 for a 26 to see through the finger
Rynjin |
There is no path. The highest point of the trash is at about 40 feet, but stepping on it would likely be unsafe.
Ugash's remote viewing device can note a quartet of transparent, oozy beings in puddle-like form scattered around the area.
Dorla |
Hmm, let me think
Dorla's knowledge dungeoneering is +19, what does she know from Ugash's description? Please assume she asks Ugash any needed questions to identify it
Unless someone has any other ideas how to safely get down there, Dorla can make 2 more infusions of fly, but then she's almost out for the day. They won't last long enough to get us back out. I know Ugash said he got rope as we left. Dorla has a spider sac http://www.d20pfsrd.com/equipment---final/goods-and-services/herbs-oils-oth er-substances#TOC-Spider-Sac if that's perferable for some reason.
Chirrup starts fidgeting nervously on Dorla's shoulder.
Rynjin |
You can Take 10 on any Knowledge check you're trained in, so I'll add +1 to that.
From the description these are Gray Oozes, transparent ooze creatures that lie in wait in caves, hoping someone will accidentally run into them (which damages the creature and can get them mired in the ooze).
Normal Gray oozes are mindless, and are immune to Cold and Fire.
Dorla |
Thetsu, from what Ugash said these are grey oozes. They're not hurt by cold or fire, and they're mindless. I think punching them into nothing is a great idea.
Chirrup, climb into my backpack. I want you safe while we deal with the oozes.
Chirrup climbs into Dorla's bag, complaining about how she never lets him do anything fun.
Thetsu |
Thetsu scrambles down the sinkhole, sliding at times and swinging ever lower.
"Then I'll go ahead!" Thetsu calls as he descends.
Take 10 on Climb for a 30.
Rynjin |
Thetsu scrambles down the sinkhole, sliding at times and swinging ever lower.
"Then I'll go ahead!" Thetsu calls as he descends.
Take 10 on Climb for a 30.
Thetsu reaches the bottom without issue.
Rynjin |
Nothing nasty lashes out at you when the rest of you descend either.
4d20 ⇒ (5, 16, 10, 13) = 44
The oozes notice Dorla's tongue lashing of Thetsu, and begin very, very slowly stirring to life.
3d20 ⇒ (20, 5, 6) = 31
4d20 ⇒ (1, 19, 11, 18) = 49
Dorla (25)
Ooze (18)
Ooze (17)
Ooze (10)
Thetsu (9)
Ugash (7)
Ooze (0)
...But not as slowly as Thetsu and Ugash.
Dorla is up, the OOzes are about 10 feet apart, and the closest is 30 feet away.
Also, relevant information in your Classes/Levels bar please. I need HP, AC (Touch and Flatfooted), Save bonuses, Initiative, and Perception bonuses at the very least.
Dorla |
How long did the descent take? I'm going to assume Dorla still has at least a minute left on fly.
Dorla takes off at a diagonal, stopping when she's about ten feet away from the first ooze, up out of reach. Then she throws a vial of acid at the closest one.
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25
If it hits,
1d6 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 damage.
Splash damage of 1 to any others within 5 feet.
Rynjin |
It was only 60 feet down, so you've still ot a solid 7 minutes and 54 seconds left. =)
Also the Splash damage should be 9 damage (minimum is 1 on the die + 8 static). But all of them are too far apart anyway.
One of the oozes takes a sizzling vial straight into the middle of it, and it rears up like a wild animal!
Three of the oozes take their time getting up and moving slightly forward.
Then they do something odd. They focus on each of you, pseudopods pointing at you and small circular rings of energy shooting from their faces.
Dorla recognzzes this as a feature of a variation of the Gray Ooze(identical in appearance, but more powerful): The Id Ooze, who can Confuse their prey.
3d20 ⇒ (4, 17, 20) = 41
She very narrowly avoids this fate as the rings begin addling her mind, but a quick recitation of her Titration tables is enough to put her back to rights.
Thetsu, then Ugash.
Thetsu |
Thetsu's body snaps into motion as he charges forward, yelling loudly. He kicks into a flip and tries to bring his foot straight down into one of the oozes.
Free Action Red Haze(Monk Rage essentially), Swift Action start Dragon Style, Charge!
DRAGON KICK!: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (17) + 16 = 33
Damage: 1d10 + 19 ⇒ (4) + 19 = 23
Ugash |
Ugasn grip his hammer with all his strength while preparing to enter battle, Entering primal warrior stance and moving and attacking the nearest ooze
Vital strike: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 286d6 + 19 ⇒ (3, 5, 6, 4, 3, 1) + 19 = 41
Thetsu |
You're an experienced alchemist and it's very likely you in fact crafted them so I would assume you know the effects of the things you craft.
Thetsu |
Will Thetsu be offended if Dorla rumples the hair on his head when she talks to him after the battle? Seems natural since she sees him like a little brother.
Nah. Go for it.
Rynjin |
I have several alkali flasks. Do I know enough to realize that they will do double damage? They are supposed to do double damage against oozes (in their item description).
Yes, you know the effects of all items and abilities you have access to.
Ugash moves in and lays a DEVASTATING blow to one ooze, splattering it everywhere. It slowly begins to reform, however, not quite done yet.
Ugash Reflex: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Ugash snatches his hammer back as it begins to sizzle, saving it from any potential harm.
The final ooze moves in and also fires its confusing ray at 1d3 ⇒ 3 Ugash!
Ugash Will: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Who easily shrugs off its effects.
Dorla!
Rynjin |
The ooze wiggles and REALLY looks like it wishes it ould scream in pain right now.
By the by, these things are ooze. They have an AC of 5, a Touch AC of 5, and Flatfooted AC of (you guessed it) 5. They are literally as easy to hit as an inanimate object. So unless you roll a 1 on the d20 to miss, you definitely hit, so feel free to apply any effects that trigger on hit without asking. =)
Rynjin |
They moved forward, but not toward each other, so they've maintained a 10 foot distance between each other. Next round when they can move into melee, they'll probably be side by side, 2 for Thetsu and 2 for Ugash.
Rynjin |
I always forget to update it, not gonna bother.
The oozes ooze their oozy way toward their not-oozy targets.
1d2 ⇒ 2
A second one moves to Ugash, and they all attack!
1d20 ⇒ 12
2d20 ⇒ (13, 7) = 20
But none of them even come close to touching the nimble Monk or the heavily armored Warder.
Thetsu, Ugash.
Thetsu |
Thetsu pulls a fist back and simply pounds the Ooze with a flurry of punches.
Spent a Ki Point for an extra attack.
Ki Point Attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16
Damage 1: 1d10 + 19 ⇒ (5) + 19 = 24
Flurry Extra: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34
Damage 2: 1d10 + 16 ⇒ (10) + 16 = 26
Attack 1: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34
Damage 3: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (2) + 16 = 18
Attack 2: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Damage 4: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
If the Ooze dies before I'm done, I flying kick to to another Ooze and finish my flurry.
Rynjin |
Thetsu smashes the nearest ooze and it glorps no more, then spins aroud and propels himself at the one Ugash injured, splarking it everywhere!
2 Oozes down.
The last ooze moves in to attack Thetsu.
1d20 ⇒ 17
It gives it a valiant try, but falls sadly short.
Dorla again.
