Welcome back Big Ben! I don't have a problem with you RPing Mikaiela back from Fwey. There's no reason she couldn't have changed her mind mid-hike and followed up on these two guys a few hours late.
Also, if you want to take over one of the rogues, that's fine. That being said, if you wanted to have a completely new character, they would need to replace one of the rogues, just to be fair on Garret and Odd'n (no point in both of them having to run additional PCs while you're playing). That can be easily done with a bit of role-playing. Especially since Odd'n is continuously giving Homeros an out.
Ideas for a new PC that wouldn't have readers rolling their eyes:
Any relative of the two who children recently got kidnapped, which are a jet-black female kittenfolk, and a
I'm sure there are others that would fit the story as it stands at the moment, but that would require reading on your part.

Painlord's guide to a better PbP experience..
Hey all, I am always trying to improve myself as a player and GM, and this caught my interest, it was linked to in another post I was reading. Not saying that anyone here is doing anything wrong. I just felt it was worth sharing.

BigBenClockTower |

Alright, I think I have it. Let me know what you guys think?
He's a Human Summoner. His Eidolon is a very real and bound Succubus that he accidentally came into through events caused by a simple mistake of misfiled parchment. The two of them get along swimmingly enough, although tensions still arise on occasion. He would be a relative (likely adopted) to one of the kidnapped kids.

The Little Game Master |

Wouldn't need to be adopted. One of the mothers is a human, I forget her name now.
I appreciate you're trying to make a sexy character, but I just want to suggest you be more subtle this time around. Which you can afford to do since the eidolon is a proper succubus. Just a suggestion.

Odd'n Lhrar |

TLGM; I'm sure you've noticed Odd'n being less spastic. I had to give up the severe social issues-- it was to much a hassle to track with people coming and going. He is still going to play the social buffoon with awkward encounters and no understanding of society/wealth.. but he won't be rolling EVERY time he meets someone knew.
My imagination was bigger than my intellect :P Had to simplify!

That was the intention with the Eidolon angle. Stunted powers means a lot less capability to do what she intends otherwise, and it keeps the Neutral Good (and often oblivious) Summoner from doing dumb things.
Also, yes, the Human mother could be nice.

So this is the next magic item that I would like to create, just to give me a bit more spell utility. Normal cost is 2000gp so it would normally take 2 days to create with successful rolls. I am assuming that we wont have multiple days to sit around very often since most of the missions that we have been sent on have been sort of time sensitive.
So what I am wondering is, what are your rules on crafting while traveling? How many hours would I be able to work on it a day if we travel for a normal 8 hrs and would I incur any penalties for working on it at a camp site?

The Little Game Master |

You can work four hours a day. And since they're cloth gloves, the penalty/bonus surrounding crafting with or without artisan's tools will apply, but nothing else.

The Little Game Master |

Sorry for the delay, I read it and didn't have the opportunity to post, then I had forgotten that I didn't post.

Odd'n Lhrar |

Hey all-- I'm heading down to Portland OR from my home up here in the wilderness that is Vancouver, Canada, so I might be a lil' slow on the posts. The conference runs until Saturday. I don't imagine I'll post less than once a day, but in-case I do disappear please just push the story forward! :D

BigBenClockTower |

Oh, it'll be great. He has quite a crazy tale to share. He still hasn't revealed his Eidolon to his parents. Part of his background is a lack of traditional Arcane skill, hence, he dresses like a Wizard, pretends he is a Wizard, but is actually a Summoner.
So him having a creature not of this plane, that is also technically a Chaotic and Evil Demonic creature...what magic is that? Also, Chaotic and Evil probably wouldn't mesh with his parents, no matter how much control he has over it because of the magic involved in Eidolons.
How he obtained her as an Eidolon is a story he can regale in character if asked (and I can regale ooc if asked here!).

BigBenClockTower |

Oh, Little Game Master, would it be possible to get a special homebrewed template that can be applied to the actual Succubus stat block to bring it in line with what an Eidolon of similar level (3) would be? If not, that's fine, thought I'd ask anyways just to be sure.
If a template isn't possible, then perhaps I can get a +2/+6/+3/-3/+0/+1 Humanoid Claws Eidolon instead of a +6/+2/+3/-3/+0/+1 one? The swapped Strength and Dexterity more closely match a Succubus' actual stats.
If neither will work, then I could arbitrarily say that the magic involved in binding her to him would mess with her both physically and mentally, thus causing all sorts of weird little discrepancies and changes.

The Little Game Master |

I would love to work out a stat block, but that would take a while. My mom's coming to visit tomorrow, so there's much to be done.
Tell you what, go with the swapped stats on a clawed humanoid. She can have vestigial wings and blunt horns (if horns are an evolution, I can't remember), I.e. things she has, but can't use in game until you buy the evolutions due to her being an eidolon. Sound fair?
If I have time before you enter combat, I'll stat the homebrew succubus for you, but otherwise, just go with that.

The Little Game Master |

Go ahead and follow original character creation rules, roll it. Also don't forget to roll profession if you have it ranked.

Odd'n Lhrar |

TLGM; Odd'n is goin' to 'spring back' and confront their tail. Should we roll initiative before, or will the move action be part of a 'surprise round'?

The Little Game Master |

You get a surprise round since he'll put off attacking you as long as possible.
-Posted with Wayfinder

Odd'n Lhrar |

I feel like their is a veiled hint at what is to come in the "put off attacking as long as possible", but Odd'n will gleefully ignore that in a brief bit of blood lust.

BigBenClockTower |

I hope I can take Magical Lineage for him...not sure what his parents would be as a profession though.
The main gist for his backstory is that (assuming his parents were magically inclined), he was assumed to become a great wizard like them. Unfortunately, he was found to have no arcane talent in the traditional sense, and was outcasted.
During his time spent traveling afterwards, he'd have stumbled upon a marketplace, and due to misfiled paperwork, ended up with control and ownership of a completely ensorcelled Succubus. Fully intending on potentially killing the evil creature if she grew hostle, an encounter with thugs outside the marketplace resulted in a very unfortunate accident.
In the aftermath of the accident, both he and the Succubus ended up with matching tattoos on their left hand. The connection ended the ensorcelling effect on the Succubus, and she lashed out at Norme, but quickly found that she had lost a lot of her power.
It was quickly discovered by both that that lost power concentrated itself into Norme's tattoo, allowing him to transform his hand into a large, somewhat demonic claw, while the Succubus' tattoo was capable of channeling some magical energy, allowing her to mimic Norme's Acid Splash, and possibly more.
Seeing as killing her was no longer a viable option, Norme managed to reason enough with her to at least travel with him, with both vowing to find a way to break their bond forged by a twisted fate, after which, they could go their own ways.
It would be some time after this that he would hear about the kidnapped children, and likely recognize one of them (the non-Catfolk one) as his sister he never got a chance to know. This would instill in him a desire to seek her out and rescue her, and would draw him and his Succubus partner into the whole thing.
Plus, if he could prove to his parents his real magical talents (which were not at all traditional, but still quite powerful) were useful and on par with their traditional powers, then perhaps they'd accept him again.
Would this be possible as a backstory?
NOTE: The Demonic Claw mentioned is just a Large Gauntlet fluffed for fun, so it isn't like, super eldritch magic empowered or anything. Just thought it would be a neat way to show the influence that would come from bonding with a legit Chaotic Evil Demon (it is hilariously inaccurate and unwieldy, but that's okay, since it will create RP opportunities in game).
Jezebeth has a Scholar's Outfit as well, used mainly as a disguise for her in populated areas, for both her sake and his, since it is a cloak, a robe, a hat, and other various things that leave most of the body covered up (also, Norme is a bit prudish, even if he's perfectly comfortable with the thinly veiled bantering he engages in with Jezebeth).

Bond Senses (3 rounds/day) (Su) As a standard action, the magic involved in the binding between Norme and Jezebeth lets him share her senses while they are on the same plane.
Life Link (Su) If Jezebeth takes damage that dismisses her, Norme can take it instead. Jezebeth's stamina weakens intensely if she is not constantly within 100 ft. of Norme.
Magical Lineage (Snowball) Norme's proficiency and practice with Snowball lets him count it as 1 level lower when he applies metamagic to it.
Rime Spell When this metamagic is applied to Norme's spells with the cold descriptor, those spells also entangle creatures if those creatures would be damaged.
Spell Focus (Conjuration) Norme's specialty was unlike what his peers had. Spells from the Conjuration school have +1 to their save DC.
Summon Monster II (6/day) (Sp) Norme can use a quicker and stronger version of the typical Summon Monster spell, but cannot spawn more than a single creature at once with it. Additionally, Jezebeth cannot be present when this creature is present, and vice versa.
His companion's Eidolon based stat block (since homebrew won't apply for now sans the Strength and Dexterity switch). It is somewhat fitting since her powers would be nerfed by the magic connection.

Basic Magic (Acid Splash, 1/day) (Sp) Jezebeth can utilize the magic borrowed from Norme to cast Acid Splash much like he does, only as a spell-like ability.
Darkvision (60 feet) Jezebeth can see in the dark (in black and white vision only however).
Evasion (Ex) Jezebeth takes no damage on successful reflex saves thanks to Norme's presence.
Norme is slightly short for his age, and fears he'll not grow taller. He is 5'1" at 20 years of age, and weighs roughly 130 lbs. His hair marks him as a ginger, and he apparently has a light skin tone. He has notable freckles, as well as a boyish look, leading to others to often comment on his youthful look (to his detriment). His eyes are hazel colored, and nothing special.
Jezebeth is an honest to goodness Succubus. Chaotic, Evil, and a demon through and through, she in particular stands about 5'8", and looks like the perfect representation of what a Human woman would only hope to achieve in appearance and appeal. She was summoned by a powerful wizard, and bound under a powerful dominate spell, supposed to be sold off as a slave for a hefty profit (where she'd likely kill the slaver once she recovered from the dominate spell, allowing the wizard to collect even more money), but misfiled parchment drained Norme of what little money he had left at that point, and dropped her in his care.
Accidents happened, and now they travel together in some kind of twisted pact...that also leaves Norme with 3 gold pieces, and 4 silver pieces.
Let me know if any of this doesn't work for you, Little Game Master.

Odd'n Lhrar |

TLGM; what time is it 'in-game' right now? Odd'n already had himself a busy day so, unless something comes up, he will just be staying in..

The Little Game Master |

Everything looks good, and very inventive! I will say that the "demon claw transformation" will be a move action, just to keep it mechanical. Also the mass of the claw will be absorbed back into your body (so that you will still be carrying the weight), sound good?
My questions are, how long have you been here? And where in town are you and why? This will help with your entrance

Oh, and it's late morning, approaching noon. I've decided to stop time stamping. It's getting hard to keep track.

BigBenClockTower |

Sounds good.
Repairing reputation would be a great motivation, and a reason for the father to chase away the son, despite the mother's protests.
So yes, he'd have been away for a bit of time.
He'd be in any local tavern, asking for information as discreetly as possible. Jezebeth would be keeping her true nature under wraps for the time being as well.
Likely he'd have been here for at least a day, spending a night in town. (Perhaps he asks the party about information leading to finding this "sister" of his, and therefore, is invited to join them as they investigate the same missing person?)
I dunno. In general, he'd have been in town for a day or so, and would be likely asking for information, in a discreet manner, since he'd be run out with a very real probability if Jezebeth was uncovered (she can Bluff good, and that Norme's so boyish means people often buy his stories, but you never know when that Natural 1 on the check will strike after all).

The Little Game Master |

His mother could've told him about the people who stopped and said they'd help. You could seek out the mayor or the captain of the guard yourself if you like.
Last name is up to you, I never gave her one. It would be probably be a Chelish surname.

The Little Game Master |

The quickest way would be to roll diplomacy, and ask around to see where they've gone. I would say a DC15 to know what hotel they're staying at, since they're not very inconspicuous.

Really sorry that I was the one holding things up this time guys, had to take 5 days leave for house hunting and the place I was staying at didn't have internet. They didn't see fit to inform me until after I arrived.

Odd'n Lhrar |

So, it has been 4 days since a meaty post that moved things along. I think we talked about this in the past when we had a lot of people and they would just disappear, and maybe we can bring it back-- allowing TLGM to just bot the missin' person after 2 or 3 days.
Yes? Maybe? No?
