Caer Bryr, Caer Bryr!
And I misunderstood the part about the portable hole: with the description you gave us some time ago, I had thought that we could have only found small sized bag of holdings. <.<

DM Darkness |

I am getting a bit hammered real-life-wise these days (I basically have 4-5 24-hour shifts at the hospital in the span of a 10-day period which ends in a week). Sooo... posting will be... difficult for a bit.
Yikes! OK, with both you and AU out of commission I'll post some flavour text to keep things moving for now.

I'm still here. Sorry, all, life has been kicking the crap out of me. One day off a week. Had a flu. Surgery keeps getting delayed. Girlfriend dumped me. Best friend in hospital, other old friends moved out of state. Just have had neither the time nor energy to post. Currently trying to get on antidepressants, hopefully that will help with the energy levels. Anyway, not giving up on this game, just in the background for a bit.

DM Darkness |

OK, thanks for the update. Sorry to hear life is giving you such a kicking at the moment.
There isn't much to do in town other than shop and wait for the 31st to roll around; there might be some rumormongering, which is more your style than Ottakar's.
I'll put the trip to the Bryr on hold and roll up some other things.

Etna Agnes |

Welcome back AU! Things going better?

Ouch D:

You're absolutely right. I read your post, then put mine up a while later, and conveniently forgot about the difficult terrain in the interim. I'll put up a new post revising my actions.
On an unrelated note: we talked a while back about the automatic progression for magic items applying to both of Felrin's claws. How would you rule that working for his inquisitor Bane ability? Does it apply to one of his claws or both? I only applied it to a single claw in his recent attack, but I thought I'd ask.

Sounds fair. Pretty much anytime we are planning on moving into a dangerous area, or an encounter, assume she brings up the armor since it lasts 1 hour per use. Random encounters, well, they are random and I cannot disagree with the ruling (I would probably make the same ruling, but figured I would ask).

Felrin - there's a feat that allows you to apply your bane to two weapons (albeit linked with TWF); if you took that then I'd allow it (ignore the TWF prerequisite, you effectively have that already), but otherwise you get the Bane ability on one weapon.

Felrin Vennax |

Makes sense, DMD, though it sure burns through rounds of Bane per day. Will have to think on that.

Etna Agnes |

Ok, got it!

2 people marked this as a favorite. |

Googled "Basset Hound with top hat", was not disappointed.

Etna Agnes |

Is everyone okay?

Felrin Vennax |

Fine here, no con-going until later this month.

Felrin Vennax |

Yes, I'll be there with my son, and I'm already signed up for games as well. I'll PM you my schedule, maybe we can get in a game together.

Etna Agnes |

Right, completely forgot I had Villain Points...maybe I should have used that. <.<

DM Darkness |

The shambling mounds are worth 4,800 XP in total.
Hope you don't mind me handwaving the fight with the evil pixie fey; it would just have taken too long and not added much to the joy of things. They were worth 3,600 XP.
Oh, and you get another 1,500 XP for the connections you've made so far in Farholde.

Etna Agnes |

Yup, no problems for handwaving the Pixie fight!
Tkaara finds them extremely nutritious, if somewhat intoxicating.
Sounds like someone hit a jackpot with hallucinogenic fey snacks. :P

Does this make her a vegetarian vampire?

DM Darkness |

I was going over the Devil type traits one more time: what does it happen when I effectively become a devil at level 7? The feats give me scaling Fire and Poison resistance, but just getting the third feat makes me Immune to those: and do I get the 10 resistance to acid and cold, or the Thelepaty? I don't have the faintest idea. :/*
Hi Etna, I hadn't forgotten your question, I just wanted to give it some thought.
I'm thinking of swapping out your immunity to fire and giving you something else in its place. I'm happy for you to be resistant, but immunity allows PCs to do odd things that I just don't have to worry about my monsters doing (after all, it's not in a DM's interests to break/game the system in their favour the same way it is for players to try and do it).
So I'm going to make the change that your feat chain gives you resistance 30 to Fire rather than immunity; in exchange you get Greater Teleport 2/day (self only) at the 7th level feat, as well as Alter Self (at will).
As you know, the iron circlets let you disguise yourself, but it's not a physical effect: anyone touching you will see your spikes. Assuming you want at any point to be your old, less spiky, self, you'll need a spell that can actually physically change you. So voila!
Let me know what you think. I hope it's a (reasonably) fair exchange.

Etna Agnes |

I'm perfectly fine exchanging the ability to swim in lava for Teleport and Alter Self (mostly for the latter: yay for not accidentally poking people's eyes out!)
Regarding the resistance to Cold, Acid, and the telepathy, do I get those?

Etna Agnes |

Got it.

DM Darkness |

BTW, the cost of attire suitable for a party of the Baron's magnitude is 150 gp or more. Anyone who is anyone will be there, and all will make attempts to outdo the others in style and fashion.
You do of course have the option of simply magicking something together, although Tiadora's instructions were fairly specific. Never mind, I'm sure she'd cut you some slack if you decided to do otherwise.
(Well, she'd cut something, anyway. And it would definitely be you. So there's that.)

Etna Agnes |

I figured I'd write a couple of lines to convince him, beside mentioning the Cardinal, but things got out of hand. <.<

Felrin Vennax |

Indeed, that was a mighty post, Etna! Thoughtful, nuanced, covered all the key story points - really nice work!
Hai fatto benissimo!

Etna Agnes |

Grazie, siete troppo buoni. <3
Mostly used the search post function and had some 3 or 4 tabs opened with what we know about the guy. Hope he'll help funding the laser sharks our wicked cause. :P

Etna Agnes |

Right. Apologies for the delay, I've been thinking how to run the next bit as a PbP and plotting it out. We're now ready to roll.
O.o
Should we be worried?
Also: maybe you're already using his stuff but there's a guy that has a list of tweaks for WotW. I only skimmed the first part of the first book of WotW by him (No spoilers!), but I've read his Throne of Night stuff and he does a good job ad bringing over CRed encounters to their actual power, adding hooks and stuff, and giving advice for 3PP/old 3.5 content that can be plugged in.
Thought you could find something to lighten your load of work for the AP, as from what I'm seeing we're going to one sandbox to the other!
