"We need an edge? I have a sharp edge right here for you!" Kraggan drops his bow and while sidestepping the flea draws his longsword, swinging at the flea in front of him.

Naomi and Kraggan move in to attack the flea. The flea side steps away from Naomi's attack, but right into Kraggan's attack. His sword sweeping down and cutting into the giant vermin easily, downing it with the blow.
One flea left. Those left to act this turn: Dario, Fleas, and Caikahn.

As I understood it, he was waiting for Caikahn to move before throwing his bomb, but if he wants to throw now that's fine with me.
Dario moves in and slices into the remaining flea. His strike hits hard and causes the beast to stumble but it remains on it's feat clinging to the fight.
The injured flea turns on Dario,
Bite Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Bite Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
But misses as the professor manages to step back away from the fleas snapping jaws.

The bomb explodes tearing off bits and pieces of the flea and flinging them all around, the creature is undoubtedly dead.
Janira looks around the group, seeing to anyone that might be injured. "Congratulations on your first fight together. You all did remarkably well, but we should gather our things up and move quickly. I fear if we do not make it to the cave by nightfall, any Gillmen that are present there may well leave before we arrive."
As the group continues to travel through the wilderness, you find trails blocked by fallen objects, shortcuts have become overgrown and impassible, and other minor delays that delay you from your destination.
"Hmmm, we need to find some way to make up time. Maybe finding a new path to the cave. Anyone have any ideas?" Janira asks the group. You all can see a bit of her enthusiasm has drained at the realization that time is slipping away from you.
I need some nature-style rolls from everyone. Something that will help you find a way to caves that will get you there in time.

"'Abomination,' Right, cause I had no choice in the matter so I must be the worst thing ever. Don't you think one's choices should be the basis for your scorn, after all your supposed to be one of them church knights everyone is supposed to look up to, a role model for all the good little church kids." The first sentance was quite sarcastic, the second sounded admonishing.

Offering a grim smile, made all the stranger by his facial tattoos Kraggan growls: "Now don't anyone go and judge a book by its cover. Caikahn might be wrong, but squabbling never helped anyone. We're supposed to stick together and fulfill our mission."

DM Tobi |

Janira watches the exchange with a bit of amusement on her face, making a few notes before speaking up. "Yes do remember that as pathfinders we need to cooperate with each other. We may not have to like each other, but we should strive to see what everyone can bring to the group. Now we should keep moving."
The group pushes on, trying to find a path that will help them keep time. Kyroden remembers several things about moving around the wilderness, and Dario is able to find several routes through the woods that helps to cut your time down.
The dense forest opens to a wide clearing at the base of a sheer cliff. Thick vines cover the surface of the cliff stretching 30 feet overhead. “Here! The cave entrance is behind those vines,” Janira says with a broad smile as she walks to the cliff’s face. She pulls back several layers of vegetation to reveal a narrow crack in the cliff’s surface.
“This is where I saw the gillmen enter.” As she motions toward the aperture, the surrounding woods come alive with the sound of small animals fleeing some unseen danger and a large creature crashing through the undergrowth.
The halfling worriedly remarks, “Quick, take cover before whatever it is spots us!” As if she’d summoned the creature with her words, a massive horned monstrosity emerges from the trees. Standing eight feet tall on a pair of cloven hooves and wielding a tremendous axe, the bull-headed creature roars with unbridled anger when it spots the group.
Wisely assessing that a minotaur is beyond her charges’ capabilities, Janira screams, “A minotaur! There’s little chance we can stand against it. Take this bag,” she continues, pulling off her backpack, “and head deeper into the caves. Finish your mission. I’ll lead it away from the caves, lose it in the forest, and join you as soon as I can. Now go! GO!” She heaves her backpack into the cave, casts a spell, and darts off toward the minotaur before turning to lure it away.
The cave entrance is 5 feet wide and extends 20 feet into the rock before you can see it widen into a broader tunnel.

Kyroden seeing his leader make this choice, decides to rush to the cave entrance. Before he leaves to rush the cave entrance he pulls his mace, and then yells. Follow me

Dario is bewildered by the sudden departure of Janira, but he moves quickly after Kraggan and Kyroden. "Hurry!" he calls to the others.

DM Tobi |

This cave system stretches deep below the foothills of the Kortos Mounts, The tunnels are between 3 and 10 feet wide and vary in height, but most are a comfortable 7 or more wide and tall.
Water dripping from stalactites and the distant rushing of underground
streams creates an eerie backdrop as you continue through the tunnels. The dampness of the tunnel giving life to blue-green luminescent fungi that provides low-light.
Petroglyphs—most depicting marine animals or spiral shapes—periodically decorate the tunnels’ walls, becoming increasingly frequent as you move further into the tunnels. The rough surface of the carvings give the fungus a natural platform, causing it to grow thicker and making the carving glow a bit brighter than their surroundings.
The narrow tunnel twists and turns for several hundred feet before slowly opening to a wider passage. A large hole spans the cave’s width and stretches ten feet down the path. At the bottom of the pit lies a small bundle of cloth.

Kraggan stops at the edge of the pit and takes a look around to check for ambushs. Only when he's satisfied that there's nothing moving nearby, does he peer down into the pit.
"Looks like somebody didn't see this pit..."

![]() |

The Professor stops occasionally on their route to try to make quick sketches of the carvings, though he's usually hustled on by the others. "Fascinating."
When they reach the pit, Dario peers over the edge and then to the far side. "Hmm, we could climb down there to inspect it. We might need to climb down anyway to climb back up the far side. Or someone can try to jump it. I might be able to make it." He continues to judge the distance.
Anyone got Mage Hand?

Kyroden recommends a bomb. Then starts to prepare one. [b] if we use this it not only tell us far it is but also knock everything there ! [/b.] says to the group.

DM Tobi |

The tunnel here is 10 feet wide and 10 feet tall with a ceiling mostly devoid of stalactites. Studying the pit, you see that it is a 10 foot by 10 foot pit trap, and it looks to be about 20 feet deep. The corners have been rounded so anyone falling into the pit cannot brace against them to climb back out.

Totally would have had Janira follow us instead, I had a plan and if it followed us we would have had the advantage, but oh well.
Naomi sighs and calmly walks behind the others, picking up Janira's pack as she passes.
Once the group stops at the pit, Naomi adds Janira's pack to Teak's saddle and digs out her rope and ties it to the saddle. "Teak, stay." as Teak sits, Naomi throws the rope over the edge and climbs over. " Teak, come." as Teak walks forward Naomi is lowered smoothly down the pit, when she hits the bottem she calls for Teak to stay, then she looks around and carefully takes what she can find of value.
Still have no idea about crossing unless several people have staves to lash together.

![]() |

Hey Naomi do you need anything? Kyroden touches his mace and whispers Please my love give help to her. Then looks at down and says to Naomi. Is there anymore exits or just a hole a in the ground? He pulls out his journal and makes a quick note of everything that has occurred so far.
Casting guidance on Naomi so she can have plus to her rolls.

"Looks like we'll have to do this the exhausting way." grumbles Kraggan and turns around to get a running start.
He starts running down the tunnel and attempts to jump across the pit.

Looking quizzically at Teak then down at Naomi,
"Anything down there Devilblood? Did you bring your pitons?"
An unusual grin appears on Caikahn's face, obviously thinking herself funny she bends down and opens Janira's pack reviewing its contents:

Startled she sees Kraggen leap across the pit!
"Good man Kraggen, thank you."

![]() |

Anybody here without darkvision? As a half-orc I don't really need a sunrod :) But I'll happily take the Wand of Burning Hands if Kyroden doesn't want it.
Smiling back at Caikahn "Glad to be of service. All that training must have been good for something."
Kraggan then unslings his rope from his backpack and lowers it to the bottom of the pit, bracing himself against the wall.

"The saddle of course, though we should take the packs seperately to make it easier. But still she can be lowered down one side, the rope tossed acrossed then lifted up the other side. She doesn't seem to like it the much but oh well."
I couldn't seem to find guard dog stats on the srd, so I'll have to dig out my bestiary pdf, but that will a few days. I figure if that doesn't pan out, I'll take a riding dog but exclude the training for carrying a rider. I really should also faq that if the bestiary doesn't include the right stats as well. Either way, a dog should easily be able jump 10' but without being able to solidly point at stats I figure this method is safer, particularly considering how inconsistant pf can be for skills.

![]() |

Kraggan nods: "You do that and I'll make sure there are no surprises around the corner."
He then takes his shortbow and moves some 30 feet down the tunnel to check for any unwanted attention they might have gotten.

![]() |

Kraggan calls back: "Hold that thought, I think there's a plank back there..."
After a quick look down the tunnel he grabs the plank and returns to the pit.
"Here, this should make it easier on your li'l friend."

While the others are helping the dog across, Dario takes a moment to examine the cloak found at the bottom of the pit. He looks for any identifying marks and also checks it for any magic.

With Kraggan bringing the plank back, it is easy enough for you all to cross the pit without further incident.
The tunnels continue on, leading deeper beneath the Kortos Mounts until they eventually open into a large cavern. What must have once been beautifully carved reliefs and inscriptions have since weathered heavily, their features dulled and softened to the point that it is hard to distinguish what each once depicted. A wide tunnel exits the cavern on its far side, and blue-burning torches line the passageway’s walls.
There seems to be 12 different reliefs carved into the cave walls, but only 4 are intact enough to try and decipher.
DM Roll: 1d12 ⇒ 6, 1d12 ⇒ 9, 1d12 ⇒ 10, 1d12 ⇒ 4
Okay, for anyone wanting to decipher the carvings, Knowledge History/Religion, or a Linguist check. If you know Aquan or Azlanti, add +2 for each. Perception or Appraise can be used with a -2 penalty.

As they enter the cavern, Kraggan takes a careful look around. He acknowledges the presence of the reliefs with a grunt: "Looks like the gillmen were here. We should probably make a copy of those reliefs. But first let's make sure we are in a defensible position."
He then proceeds to explore the cavern, crossbow in hand.

Huh, I guess my post got eaten.
Dario studies the magical cloak as well as the carvings as they come up on them. He takes sketches in his journal for both himself and the Society. "Amazing. I wonder if the gillmen's ancenstors did these."
