The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

"Oh, still tastes like berries."

"It's his own fault for believing my when I said it was just tea. I don't see why he was so angry, really, one of my students said the pink skin went really well with his read hair." Yrrum replies as he plucks a few hairs from Enre's head, unaffected by his subjects appearance. He puts one into a vial and the rest in a case that he labels with Enre's name. He starts pulling instruments from his kit and gets to work. "I'll extract the genetic code from your hair first, and after that it can take a bit to run it against all the samples I have, so it may be a bit before we get any results."

have you thought of what Enre is? If so, you can email me(my address is in my main profile), and if not, I can make something up.

Ephebe gulped down a third beaker of blue drink.

"Well, it did. I think he was mad because a bunch of other students wanted pink skin too...guess it started a bit of a fad...." ;)

"Aw, evocation is too flashy for my tastes mostly. I can usually make just as much fire as either of them anyway, just by moving molecules really fast." Alton demonstrates, still hanging upside down, my casting a spell and changing a bit of sand(was it always there?) into liquid fire. He quickly molds it and blows on it to cool it down, eventually holding a miniature dragon in his hands. "Besides, transmutation is useful and more fun. No need for stuff like bat guano when I want to cast."

"I see, good reasons, all. I chose necrom...well actually it turns out I didn't choose necromancy as much as it chose me, I have a...talent for it."

"He was really peeved when the recipe accidentally got out too. Don't know why he would think I'd leave it out on purpose." Yrrum says as he continues the extraction process. "Oh, and Addy's the reason this batch tastes like berries. Apparently the 'mountain air' flavor was something she liked too much."

Ephebe giggled. "Well, I can't really blame her. I'll admit I like that flavor better, but it's still good berry flavored."

Male Unknown 16 Invulnerable Rager/ 16 Hex Crafter Magus

Enre pulls up his hood and places the mask back on his face while saying the code to seal it back. Thinking to himself "All I have to do is wait now." He watches as Ephebe and Professor Yrrum speak with each other.

"No problem with that. Magic is weird that way, ya know? I knew a bird who didn't like his magic at all, but was stuck with it. Really awkward when you shoot fireworks every time you lose a feather." Alton notices the scales every where and frowns, though since he is still upside down it looks like a smile. "You don't do that when lose a scale, do you? How did you even get in the room anyway? The door doesn't seem big enough, so did you come here before turning into a dragon?"

Imagefemale weredragon (amethyst) gestalt Soulknife17/oracle10/divine gunslinger7

"Oh, by the way, Professor, I don't know if it showed up on your schedule yet, but I've dropped alchemy...you know I had no business being in the class in the first place...and think of all the lab accidents you won't have to clean up after now." ^.^

"Ah, but now I won't be as readily able to show my students in that class how to reverse the minor disfigurations you'd cause every time a beaker exploded. You know how hard it is to get actual volunteers-" He stops talking as his kit beeps and spits out a piece of paper. "Okay, this is weird. Enre, it looks like you got a lot of ancestral diversity. We've dwarves, elves, oreads, ogres, a bit of troll, human, and... that can't be right!" Yrrum exclaims as he runs the test again. He paces impatiently as he waits for the second piece of paper. When the results are the same, he runs the test again through a large computer in the wall. The results are the same. Yrrum presses a button on his headset. "Ryo? I'm sending the test from Enre to you now. *pause* I ran the test three times. *pause* Tell Ryleh. This is something she needs to know."

"Well, you are a very interesting mix of genetic codes, Enre." Professor Yrrum says as he finally tunrs back to the two students. "Did you know you have some dragon DNA in you?"

Male Unknown 16 Invulnerable Rager/ 16 Hex Crafter Magus

Enre looks at Professor Yrrum shocked for a moment. "No. I did not know any of that. How can I be all of those let alone have dragon DNA?"

Imagefemale weredragon (amethyst) gestalt Soulknife17/oracle10/divine gunslinger7

Ephebe grabs the readout and looks at it in disbelief. "Yeah, this is definite...does it show what kind of dragon? I mean, you're sure it's from one of us...how closely related are we talking here?"

"Oh, and Grandma is going to be here in a couple of minutes, just so you know."

Male Unknown 16 Invulnerable Rager/ 16 Hex Crafter Magus

"Grandma? Kind of dragon? Related?" Enre feels lost. He thinks to himself "It might of been a better idea to not know what I am. How can I have elven, dwarven, oread, ogre, troll and human blood in me. Let alone the dragon DNA they are saying I have."

"I'm not sure, Enre, but I'm willing to bet that, whatever the reason is, it was helped along by someone. We'll figure it out." Razule says. "Thanks for the heads-up, Ephebe, I'll put some of the more delicate equipment up. As for the relation issue, I'm not sure. A few sorcerers show trace amounts of dragon DNA after all, since that is where their magic comes from, so he could have only one type or several."

"My grandma. Ryleh. Uh...you'll see....ummm....don't go advertising this, although I don't think it's likely since you've got dragon blood yourself, but we're, you know...dragons."

"Okay, but if you can try and narrow it down....I have a real bad feeling that I know where it comes from....run comparisons especially against my DNA and against Jimmy's. We're the ones she had the most access to."

Male Unknown 16 Invulnerable Rager/ 16 Hex Crafter Magus

Enre eyes open wide under his mask and his jaw drops slightly after Ephebe says she is a dragon before saying "I thought dragons ruled, not go to school. Against yours and Jimmy's?"

"I'm running comparisons on all of you. If any of it matches, I have a feeling we'll end up dealing with whatever that 'friend' of yours from when I was ten left behind. I can't think of anyone else who crazy enough to do something like this."

"Don't think about it too hard, Enre, it's easier that way. Think about this instead: you get to come up with the name for what you are. Not many people get to do that. Anyway, Epebe is the type of dragon that thinks everyone is equal. Pretty good philosophy if you ask me."

Male Unknown 16 Invulnerable Rager/ 16 Hex Crafter Magus

"So I get to name myself, while you all figure out who could of done all this to a race of me?" Enre thinks for a moment trying to take it all in. He thinks "I wish mother and Arlanna were here."

Enre wrote:

"Dragons rule in the Empire. This is Agartha. My ancestors built this world to get away from that kind of thing. All races are equally capable of self-governing...the little misunderstanding that left the residents of this world with the idea that we're monsters that want to destroy everything is ...we'll call it unfortunate. So don't go talking about dragons where others you don't know are in on this secret can find out about it. We're trying to let people find out slowly so we can rebuild a better reputation."

"As for the other thing...yeah, Razz...this really does seem like her handiwork...it's be nice if it weren't, but I don't really have my hopes up...."

"And Professor Yrrum is right, Enre...think of this as an opportunity. Trust me, otherwise you'll just drive yourself nuts. You definitely get to be considered unique!" ^.^

"Actually, if you want to help, you can start by telling us which region you can remember coming from." Yrrum presses a button and a portion of the wall flips over to reveal a holographic projector. A moment later and a detailed globe of Agartha appears. "Anything you can tell us could be infinitely helpful."

Ryleh Her usual mode of dress.

A petite woman who appeared to be in her early forties with long purple hair and wearing a silk dress stepped out of the wall.

"I am very much hoping that you have a more coherent explanation of what is going on than I received from Ryo," she said crisply.

Male Unknown 16 Invulnerable Rager/ 16 Hex Crafter Magus

Enre points at a far corner of the world "My mother told me that one of her soldiers found me in front of the barracks I seemed to be a new born. All they had was a note with my name." He than turns to the woman who walked into the room thinking to himself "This is Ephebe's grandmother?

"That's as good a place to start as any, thanks Enre."

"Good evening, Ryleh. Don't be harsh on Ryo, he's probably got his cards out by now. Anyway, meet Enre, the person of many strands. Somehow he has DNA from several races, species, etc. One of which happens to be dragon. I'm currently running a series of diagnostic to see if that portion of his DNA matches up with the family's."

"Also, we've got these fabulous inventions called doors. They let you walk through walls without getting rock in your hair."

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Ryleh Her usual mode of dress.

"I do not get rocks in my hair," she said tartly. "I did not even have hair until I took this ridiculous form for my daughter's sake. Hair is an inconvenience. Scales are better."

"Although it is easier to drink tea with small human hands, she muttered almost inaudibly.

Imagefemale weredragon (amethyst) gestalt Soulknife17/oracle10/divine gunslinger7

"Why don't you just sit over here, Grandma? The results won't come any faster if we keep bugging him right?"

"Sorry about all the insanity, Enre. I won't lie, it's always like this for one reason or another. But we'll get to the bottom of this soon, okay?"

"You know, you were a lot scarier when I was ten." Razule says to Ryleh as he reads data printouts and runs more comparisons. "My point about doors is still valid."

Enre, I sent you another email.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Ryleh Her usual mode of dress.

"And I suppose you scold Aananda for not using the doors as well? Since we all know she is just as prone to going directly through the walls as I am."

She sighed. "It's so difficult to gain respect from people once they realize you're not actually going to eat them..."

"You actually tried that once. You were cranky about something and caught me trying to sneak into your mirror room. Spat me right out 'because all those mutagens would upset your stomach' or something. It's very weird to be in a gizzard by the way, or whatever it is you have."

"I picked you up with my teeth because I didn't want you messing up my scrying room. You have not become less prone to exaggeration as you've aged. And I thought humans aged more quickly..." ;P

Male Unknown 16 Invulnerable Rager/ 16 Hex Crafter Magus

Enre listens lost trying to get some idea of what is going on. He looks at Ephebe's grandmother and says "Hello." He turns to Ephebe and shrugs.

Ryleh Her usual mode of dress.

"Hello, Enre. I wasn't ignoring you. You looked like you needed some time to adjust. I am Ryleh, Ephebe's grandmother."

"A combinations of nanite genetic rearrangement and alchemical solutions has granted me a considerable lifespan. You aren't getting rid of me easily!" Raz says before his computer beeps at him. "Well, it looks like Ephebe can stop worrying. Enre isn't related to her in anyway. The draconic DNA is quite diverse actually, but there are no traces of gem dragon genetic code."

Male Unknown 16 Invulnerable Rager/ 16 Hex Crafter Magus

Enre nods to Ryleh than listens to Professor Yrrum as he explains where the dragon DNA he has came from.

Imagefemale weredragon (amethyst) gestalt Soulknife17/oracle10/divine gunslinger7

Ephebe breaths a sigh of relief.

"No offense, Enre, but I'm really glad you're not related to me. That's just one more responsibility than I can handle right now."

Male Unknown 16 Invulnerable Rager/ 16 Hex Crafter Magus

"None taken. I am just thinking on a name for what I am helps to keep me centered and focused on something." He thinks to himself "Legio, Djöfull, or ÆGLÆCA which would fit best."

Ryleh Her usual mode of dress.

"Well. This tells us that your race originated outside of Agartha for starters. Probably within the Empire...but I don't have any mention of you in the records. Though my records are incomplete. Much was lost during the purges."

Male Unknown 16 Invulnerable Rager/ 16 Hex Crafter Magus

"The only time I ever saw someone that looked like me was my brother and his men. Though some of his men had horns and scales. If you go to the village I think they should have reports on the attack. I think they buried the bodies to. Would that help you figure out where I come from?" Enre tries to remember anything that might help.

At that moment, Amada remembered a dream she had while she was unconscious. She remembers the faint scent of rose oil, incense and the caress of wind. Her memory transported her back into a forest of white trees wearing crowns of Crimson leaves. Above her was an onyx sky encrusted with red and white stars that glittered behind a giant ivory moon. A soft voice like that of a mother still lingers in her mind. She knew in her heart it was the Patron of love. She was an elegant figure with alabaster skin draped in fine sheer red silk. Her eyes a soft silver and hair like raven’s feathers. She bore a strong resemblance to Amada’s mother. A silver moon pendant lay still upon her breasts and strands of pearls adorned her wrists and ears. With a soft smile, Amores spoke to Amada. She could still see in her mind the soft plum colored pigment that lined Amores’ eyes.
“Amada, you my dear are the champion of love. Do you know what this means?”
Amada shook her head silently as Amores places a comforting hand on hers.
“This means you have made sacrifices for the sake of love and have kept it pure. Not everyone is capable of doing such a thing. Love is one of the strongest emotions a person could ever feel. You are a creature of lust that has turned against her own nature for love.”
Amada shook in awe of Amores, never realizing how true those words were. Amores pointed up to the moon and held Amada’s hand tighter.
“Look up there child. There sets the moon who has the many faces of love. Each of her phases represents mortality, motherhood, romance, children and so much more. She is still one moon as it is still ultimately one love. She shines through the darkness as love shines through hatered. That is why she is the symbol of love.”
Amores then grabbed Amada and held her close just like her mother once had.
“There is one last sacrifice you must make. You must give up your immortality for your other half, Asch. If not, you are bound by your nature to live for all eternity serving my empty sister, Erosia.”
“Who is that?” Amada asked hesitantly.
Amores stepped in front of Amada and looked deep into her eyes. Amores soft smile remained but her eyes sunk into sadness.
“Lust.”
“You need to be the light for Asch, for he is now the Champion of Darkness.”
“Champion of Darkness?” Amada said as if an echo.
“Yes, Madness needed to be replaced and Darkness had to fill the void. Asch stepped in.” Amores spoke in a firm tone but never lost her kindness.
“Your amulet is taken by Solivala, you must retrieve it. Now sweet child, awaken!”

"Will do Boss. Hey, are you ok my love?" He says to Tamrin and then quickly returns his attention to Amada. "Hey wait! Your a Champion now too?" He asks as he easily lifts both himself and Amada off the ground and into their room and sits her in his lap as he waits for her to talk..

Her smile was large and her red lips exposed almost all her teeth. She grabbed his face and plastered it against her chest and squeezed him tight.

"Well my love, yes. I was asleep and the Patron of love visited me. She explained that I am now the Champion of love. She told me something very important that I must do for you."
She stops talking and lets go of Asch. Shyly she looks away almost afraid to continue. Quickly she changes the subject.
"I heard you are now the Champion of Darkness, how did this come to be my love?"
All silence was broken by a very loud grumble that roared from Amada's very empty belly.

"Hahaha, How about we talk about it over lunch I hear they have rolls ou…wooh!" He says when he hears her stomach growl and just before he finishes his sentence Amada has him by the hand rushing off towards the lunchroom. Students jump out of the way watching as Asch is helplessly pulled along his feet no longer touching the ground.

Amada bursts through the cafeteria doors with eyes wide and teeth nibbling at her bottom lip. What do I want first? Hmmm, I see gravy, turkey, potatoes, and I-I-I SEE ROLLS! With Asch's hand still being strangled by her own, she scrambles to the line with haste. Quickly she piles food onto a plate and slathers gravy all over it. She then grabs as many rolls as she could stack onto a tray.
"Asch honey, would you mind paying for this?"
She gives Asch the best innocent look she could but destroyed it with her hungry grin.

"Yea why not…" Asch says as he begins to rummage around in his pockets, and then a stricken look comes over his features. "Gah!!! The Boss took my Caster and my belt which had my wallet in one of the pouches…!!! Can you guys take credit or put it on Tamrin Sunwakes tab? Oh you can thanks. There problem solved time to eat baby." Asch says with a smile to Amada.

Amada's jaw dropped ash Asch asked about financing their lunch. She was so hungry she just let it go and started devouring the food on the way to their table. Her round hips swayed in rhythm with the song she hummed as she munched on a roll. When Amada ate, she was in her own little world. She plopped the tray down and stood for a moment.

"Asch" she asked a bit gingerly,
"Would you mind if I sat on your lap as I eat this?"
She slithered one hand down Asch's spine and stroked the small of his back for a moment seductively. She couldn't help it, she just loved putting her hands all over Asch, after all she did claim him as her little stuffed teddy-bat.

Tingles go down Asch spine for a moment as he sits down and grabs Amada. "Sit." He says simply trying not to grin.

"YAY!" she squealed and threw herself into his lap, landing her round bum into his lap so hard it was like a bolder had pelted him. When she finally finished her lunch, she stood up and sat in a chair next to him so she could look him in the eyes.

"How did you become the Champion of darkness exactly? What happened to me that I was knocked out?"
Her eyes searched his for the truth.

"……" Asch at first says nothing his eyes unreadable. He then looks Amada in the eyes and takes a deep breath. "When we used that amulet on you to heal you I sat with you as I guess the healing wore you out. And a little while later that kid I told you about Dacamara showed up…and I attacked him." At this point Asch looks away ashamed to tell Amada what he did to a defenseless person. "Ephebe saved him before I could do anyworse. While I was unconscious after that Umbral the Patron of Darkness talked to me and told me Madness had been killing the other Champions and that I'm the replacement. What about you Amada?" He asks as he puts his hand near hers but afraid to touch her after what he had told her.

Amada listened quietly without any expression on her face. When he finished, the soft smile that Amores wore in her dream.
"My love," She paused as she looked down at his hand. Her thumb caressed his fingers in little circles. She loved the way his hands were larger than hers, making her feel protected. "It is alright, I understand you were going through a hard time, there is no shame in that."
Amada looked back up into his eyes. She propped one arm up on the table and tilted her head into her hand. She rested her cheek into her palm and got comfortable before continuing. "When I was asleep, the Patron of love spoke to me. She told me of one last sacrifice I must make. Do you know what it is?"

"What do you mean a sacrifice?" Asch asks a worried expression on his face.

Amada couldn't help her own mischievous nature as she saw his horrified face. She grinned and spoke in a horrible fake horror voice, "One with blood and chickens! Yes chickens and candles! You will be made to eat peanut-butter for a whole year and we all know how much you like that!"

She laughed at his still horrified expression and waved it off with her hand. In between chuckles she managed to get out what she really meant to say.
"No love, I must give up my immortality for you, that's all."
Her nostrils flared and her lips were clamped shut as she tried not to let another chuckle through.
