The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

"What happened to you kids?" the healer asked, alarmed.

"Training accident," Sadie said tersely. "These two were horsing around too close to the boulder pile and knocked it over on us. They were supposed to be practicing their aim. Too bad they have short attention spans."

The healer looked suspicious, but didn't question further. She healed them and sent them on their way.

"Hey, Sadie," Zren asked, his brow furrowed as he tried to form a complex thought. "Why we no rat out that kid?"
Sadie snorted. "That's what he wants. He wants us to get him in trouble. He wants everyone to know that he's bad news so they'll stop picking on him. Well, I'm not going to give him the satisfaction. He can fight his own battles. And while I'm on the subject did you guys hit that kid?"
Rikken looks sheepish. "Was just trying to say hello."
Sadie sighed with exasperation. "How many times do I have to tell you? That may be okay when you were living with ogres, but it's not okay at school. You can't just go around hitting people. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother trying to train you guys."
"No say that, Sadie. You only one who wants to be our friend."
"We be better, Sadie. We learn faster. Please no be sad."

My special power is stealth, but I don't really have a handle on it yet and it keeps going off when it's not supposed to. People are always forgetting me. And I know about the class switch because I went to the office earlier to try and tell them what happened, but I couldn't make them hear me and I heard someone mention it. Heh. I'm really embarrassed right now, but I guess it's okay, cause you probably won't remember any of this tomorrow." ^.^

"I'll try to remember. You seem like a really nice person, to go through all that trouble for someone who didn't even remember you. I'll find a way to thank you for it."

"Umm, thanks. But you don't need to worry about it. It's just, I know what it's like, always being on the outside. It's hard to have friends when nobody remembers who you are. Anyways, I should go. I have homework to do. Good night," she said cheerfully, although she seemed like she was really sad.

lol. Sadie's a Tactician. It's her job to think like other people. You don't get to be captain of the fencing club just by being good with a sword. :)

Kitty went back to her room and found it empty. Her shoulders slumped. She trudged off to storage to fetch her things. Again. It was so frustrating. Maintenance kept packing up her stuff and closing her room because they forgot she lived there. All the packing and unpacking made it really hard to get her schoolwork done on time. Not that most of her teachers remembered she was even in their class. If she really disappeared no one would even notice.

Vakkler stops about halfway to his hut. "What..."
Aren't I supposed to be dealing with that kid who beat on the wererat? He said something about not starting the fight. Did I really just take his word for it?
He shrugs. Must be losing my edge.
The kobold professor turns back and goes to deal with the troublemaker.

There is a slight creak as the ceiling and walls on this part of the corridor start moving closer together.

It looks like the walls are supposed to collapse quickly, but based on the creaking and groaning it seems that the mechanism hasn't been taken care of as well as it should have been and the walls lurch slowly together rather than collapsing quickly to smash the intruders.

The walls are still trying to lurch closed as the group clears that area of the hall.

Could you guys please make a Perception check?

"It seems some of those tiles ahead may also be traps. It should not present a problem to me, but the rest of you should be careful."

A little reminder, unless otherwise stated consider Solivala to be on his cloud. He is lazy like that. XD

lol. Great picture there.:)

The DC to spot the pressure plates is now only a 10 thanks to Solivala's warning.

Michael hauls himself away from his own homework to get the door and let's out a sigh when he sees Vakkler's returned. He'd been halfway expecting this.

"Sir, you've already given me my punishment for the fight I didn't start. It's lines. In your office. Same time as slurk duty."

"Now, hold on just a minute. I've been thinking, and I don't think I was very clear on the situation. Do you have anybody who can attest to your throwing the second punch?"
Vakkler seems a little disoriented, but determined to 'do his job'.

It takes some time, but he's able to wedge the pressure plates so they can't go down and trigger the traps.

"Look, you know how this school... Nevermind. No, I don't have a witness." He wasn't about to drag Kitty back into this. "I didn't throw the second punch either. He pushed my, and I used some tech to numb his arm. Then he tripped me and started kicking me in the chest. I kick him, get kicked back, I numb his leg, he falls on me. A few seconds later and he's knocked himself out." He says, only leaving out the part where he bit his bully.

"Very well." Vakkler glowers. "I suppose you deserve some credit for honesty. Slurk duty, same time as before. If you don't cause trouble, I'll let you off with one night."

Still feeling disconcerted, he turns away.
I need more ways to announce his departure. I feel like I've used "heads off" a bit too often. :P

Michael closes his door as the professor heads off, and goes back to his homework. He couldn't believe Vakkler was putting him on slurk duty the same time wererat.

"He picks on my enough when he isn't in trouble." He thinks. "He's gonna be even worse tomorrow night." Then he had a though and his eyes grow wide. He dug out his copy of 'Agarthain Wildlife: Volume One' and begins to research slurks, forgetting his homework.

Slurk wasn't going to be so bad after all.

Professor...how many slurks do you have??! I've been on slurk duty every night since the semester started and every day the cage is just as dirty as if it hadn't been cleaned for months....something seems fishy here....I mean aside from the reek of slurk slime....;P

Oh? Does the Headmaster know you're spying on students in their private rooms?

Besides, I'm studying slurks, you should be happy I'm taking an interest in them.

Maybe you wouldn't have this problem if you would just lock your closet door. >_>

Oh, you don't mean that. You're just upset the Headmaster choose another kobold to give the janitorial duties to.

Okay, temple foks, you've tripped an alarm and the door is mysteriously missing. Acrions?

School folks, you're on the next day which should put you concurrent timewise with the temple folks.

Kitty warmed up, getting ready for PE to start. It was her favorite class because the teacher actually remembered her almost half the time, which was way better than anyone else.

I'm sure you guys know I meant to say Actions....I have no idea what acrions are...sigh.

[waves feebly from the trenches]

Acrions should now be the name of some new creature/cult. (^-^)

"This is annoying."

Solivala floods the place with his dark cloud creeping thru every crack searching for the item. Once its found he will take a direct route to it or if blocked start smashing thru walls.

Never annoy a living golem, his attacks count as two sizes larger sense he is using natural attacks. Let me know if I overstepped his swarm abilities, outside of school I figured their range is no longer limited.

Ha! Found the missing invisipost! Okay, then....actually the range limitations are for anywhere including outside of school, but since he's standing right in front of what he's looking for it's currently a non-issue. :)

The swarm is able to locate the secret panel hiding the door, and rather than continue looking for the catch, Solivala knocks the whole panel off of the wall. The door is now right in front of them.

He felt a tap on his shoulder, and a smiling Kitty stood next to him.

"It's not that bad," she said, cheerfully. "There are lots of rocks flying around, but no one has actually died yet. Worst case you'll end up in the infirmary for a bit."

The door itself is not trapped, but it is locked. The lock is quite complicated and would be difficult to pick. Probably a DC 50 on Disable Device.

"Good morning class! Let's start with a little light warm up."

She pulled several boulders out of the floor.

"Boulder tag everybody, try not to get hit!" And with that she started throwing the rocks around the gym, the rate increasing slowly as the students started dodging the rocks.

"Hey, Teach, who's the new kid?" Ta'Su asks as he skates up the wall to avoid a boulder. "He looks like he's about to pass out."

Just thought I'd put him in the class.
