Nevermind. Found too many errors, will re-upload.
pretty powerful race
kinda making core races obsolete.
cant even make it in the race builder cause most of the benefits are beyond what it offers.
bonus feats:
weapon proficiency
improved grapple, hover, wingover
can ignore grapple penalties
flight speed
no negative ability mods
telepathy
special languages (speak with animals always active.)
what will prevent them from eliminating all humans?
my opinion here give boosts to all core races to be on equal footing. basically allow core races to have say a bonus of 30 race points to build up their race so they can at least be only a little bit behind
also not allowing gestalt is not a penalty.
Lang is not gestalted.

"Always lawful"
Geez. Any "always ____" makes me want to make something that isn't.
Not to mention kami's blessing meaning they have to be of a certain class just because of their race.
Read it again. That's in addition to whatever glass they are taking. It's racial gestalt that licks the second class in.

Ed, in this setting, and in all settings, some races are just more powerful.
Here, let's look at demons, and angels.
Compare them to humans.
You can play the demons or angels in this setting anyway.
Not to mention firebirds, witch can, if a Mage, heal themselves with a fireball centered on self.
I mean, I've got a shantak here. CR 8, base.
Humans have a base CR of 1/2.

Except, in a gestalt setting, that's still forcing you to take a class.

? I'm saying it makes then more more powerful than tengus...
What with being locked into the class, if it stacked with gestalt they'd be almost on the same level,

each of my characters I have been giving little bonuses to but that's because they're Avalon students and teachers
And as to Lang not being gestalted 1. He's the freaking avatar, 2. 95% arePlus you're looking at it the wrong way,
Look at earth, humans are better than monkeys, there are still monkeys
There are still bugs, there are still angels, demons and god(a)
The universe is a big place, there's room
Plus we have kids and spread out way faster

In response to "why are humans still around"
1 because we're stubborn
2 because we bread with everything (hence all the half orcs assimars, suli, undines, ifrits, half legs, half dragons and whatnot around) which bring in value able traits to the human gene pool, (look up "what measure is a non human" on TV tropes for more reading)
3 we have lots of kids and outnumber those who would fight us
4 because we make friends and allies easily (actually represented by stats, humans make great diplomancers) to go to war with human settlement A you risk angering elven village B
5 magic exists and limits resource sacristy, and space travel/teleportation reduces spacial sacristy
I can probably think of more but these 5 should suffice

Ed, we've had people play freaking dragons with gestalted class levels and no level adjustment penalty....and yet people still play core races and they stand up to the 'more powerful' beings just fine. It's just for this setting and because we do play fast and loose with rules. Besides, not every character here is about being powerful. Some of the most fragile characters end up being the most liked. It's about the story. Don't get so wrapped up in the numbers. They don't play out the way people think they do. And they're not nearly as important.

# 4 is probably the most powerful thing about humans. It's what Aananda learned from being raised as a human and look at how much change came from just that one lesson on how to build communities. Nobody does that like humans do. ^.^

sorry Lyn, I just had a couple of really frustrating PFS game sessions. (mostly bad GMing).
I end up getting in my "everything must be fair" soapbox.
I really wish if these guys want to run PFS mods they do a few of things:
1 read the module before game day.
2 know the friggin rules.
3 realize that in Tier 1-3 some players are in fact still level 1
I will step down now, and get back into the right frame of mind I should be in...

I seem to have run into a problem...it would appear that I have run out of space in campaign info...it's now cutting off the kitsune entry partway through and won't let me add anything else (like tengu and tanuki). I wasn't even aware that space was limited.
>.<
Frack. And I thought I was basically done. Now it looks like I'm going to have to take a bunch of it and put it into a google doc and put up a link. This will certainly delay things.
:(
Bleh. I'm gonna go get some sleep. :/

Reasons why I made some of the choices I did:
Tengu are as a race very traditional and have a strong sense of justice, hence lawful. Remember this is for the race as a whole. 9/10 times you meet a Tengu, they are most likely going to be LN or LG.
Abberants exist, though, and probably do not live amongst their people.
Kami's Blessing was an idea I came up with, and it seemed cool, and isn't as clunky as it seems at first. Kami's blessing does not give them the HD, BAB, class skills or saves of the class they choose, jsut the features. For those they have to depend on the other class they choose. They also can not choose as their normal class one offered by Kami's Blessing for that type of Tengu.
The gender thing came about because I didn't want to answer questions about half breeds. This also became interesting for me, exploring a "traditional and conservative" race, that had no sexual identity problems built into that tradition. They see gender as a function of biology only, and can change it to match their mate. They can find beauty and things that attract them in either gender, which is probably very liberating as well. They are a living dichotomy.
I couldn't find as much historical stuff myth and legend-wise as I could for the Kitsune, so it's all made up.
And no, they are no where near as powerful as a kitsune can be.
If some one needs/wants stats for a child tengu, just realize they do not get their type bonuses until puberty age (12-ish). They can shape shift as early as 4 years old, but are clumsy fliers, and do not have any of the aerial feats until after years of flying (around age 10).
Something else to mention that I forgot, even though all save the crane are nesting birds, they build their villages on the ground, like humans do. Their architecture is traditional Japanese in style.

Also, my Kitsune and Tengu write ups were originaly intended for use as NPCs, and in one rare case as a PC where everyone played a Kitsune.
The nature of the Avalon game makes use of these races as PCs possible, and I would not recommend trying to sneak one past another GM for any other PF game ;)

That's what I said. It's just a pain in the ass and takes time. Not to mention re-editing for formatting. Annoying as hell considering I thought I was done(ish).

lynora |

I would just link to SkyDrive (or whatever the hell they're calling it now) which at least enables editing. But linking...not so much. It's theoretically possible. But the practice is just a waste of time. The link breaks more often than it works. So Google docs it is.

lynora |

Okay, folks, with the exception of the Tanuki which is still in the editing stage, everything on the campaign info is all done. There's some formatting issues with the firebird and tengu docs. I'll fix it, re-upload, and put up new links within the next few days, but in the meantime the page is done enough that it's workable again.

lynora |

I would like to draw all of your attention to the many changes to the Campaign Info and suggest that you read through it again, especially the first few sections. Even the new player primer has been expanded and includes information that you want to make sure that you are clear on. Now is the time for questions if you have them.
But, far and away, the most important thing now on that page is the first section. The Player Code of Conduct. I want to make sure that all of you are clear on what the expectations are when it comes to player behavior here. Basically, no one posts in the game thread until they have first posted here that they have read and understood the Code of Conduct. This lets all of us know that we're on the same page and if conflict arises later there is no excuse left for not adhering to the standards set forth there.
Also, I would like to point out (again) that there is only one of me. This sadly limits the amount I am able to do in regards to this game. The structure of the game is such that it only works if everyone pitches in and helps run things. To those who have been contributing to running story arcs, I say a hearty thank-you. To those who have not been, please consider at least inserting a mini-arc, side-quest, or simply take over some nameless NPCs to make someone else's story more interesting. If everyone isn't contributing to the game then the people running the stories will get burned out and the game will sputter out. And please remember to run new story arcs by me. I don't need many details. It can be as simple as saying that you want to run a field trip where some students go deal with some train robbers. That's as much as I need to know. The only reason I need to know it is so that I can make sure that two people aren't trying to run the exact same arc and to make sure that the timing of different stories doesn't conflict. This is supposed to be my main job as GM here, just coordinating all the plots. And occasionally managing player conflicts, but that should not be taking a significant portion of my gaming time per day. Which is why we now have the Code of Conduct.

I have read and understand.
and to everyone I am sorry about my little rant regarding the Tengu write-up.
I also hope to get back to the game soon.
I believe that right now the only active players with Lang now are:
Grim
Tarka
Lewis
Sara
(Ephebe - chaperone)
If I missed anyone please say so...
Also MG I want to discuss what your plans are with Mel in searching for Ginni's killer. I believe that Ginni will be able to assist Once Lyn is available for gameplay, but i would like to hear what you plans are also.

lynora |

Oh you put pics in there!
Awesome! I would have but ran out of time due to publishing deadlines ;)
The bird descriptions were from memory, and are actually really damn close.
Glad you liked it. :)
I'm gonna have to change the raven pic though. The one I used is one of the things causing formatting problems. Looks great in Word. Sits on top of the words in Google Docs.

lynora |

Tanuki write-up is up and I cleaned up the formatting problems with the Tengu and Firebird docs. So now I actually am totally done with the construction. :)
Magic, I did make a few changes, but 95% of it was just formatting to make it more readable. I'll send you a PM to let you know exactly what the changes were.

Just a re-post, but:
I've decided on my first NPC:
He will be an Alchemist, of decent level, who will run a tavern and sort of serve as therapist and a healer as well. Worshiper of Cayden Cailean. His potions and such that he gives out will often be quite tasty.
His name? Dr Brown
