Would Hon be party or more importantly privy to this latest development? If so, he would like to make some preparations.
GM Chainmail or any curious mind.
Nah, it ain't secret or anything. Just Hon is all about risk reduction. And he may "sense motive" to see if ""Rock" or any authority figures would have an issue. If so, he'll keepit on the "down low"
He would have visited the Archives, and requested a copy of the Treaty as well as some time to review the treaty long enough to make copy of human king's signature, and review any correspondence with the town's mayor's signature. He has plenty of time to work on this, focusing on signatures tonight. He can take his time composing and refining his work on the road. The Copy of Treaty, and any official correspondece will be kept in scroll case in backpack. (And yeah, Linguistics will be a skill I'll put points in should I live to 2nd lvl)
He’ll take some time composing a group charter naming all of them and something along the lines of...
To all persons hither and yon, I, King Gooblatz, in accordance with the Treaty of Darselle and in the best interest of advancing human knowledge and economies, authorize the Dwarven emissaries to travel the human lands to explore potential locations and identify willing pupils that are conducive for dwarven master metalmiths learning. Any who harass the dwarves will incur the wrath of his Royal Highness, and brought forth, “in restraints” to the Capital for re-education.
His Royal Highness
Charles Gooblatz
Endorsed and enforced by
Mayor of Thugville, Ty Dohbman

I've made some tweaks to Hon's equipment list. Let me know if you've a problem or think I am "Meta-playing". Hon is about risk-reduction and contingencies. Learned way-back when he was a wild child (for a dwarf) trying to keep up with the gnomes.
Chainmail
Subtraction:
Portable Ram (heavy and how useful outside?)
Additions:
10x10 white canvas cloth (my gear needs to be covered)
Shovel, small (to bury gear or dig foxhole in snow)
Acid flask (for disolving stuck locks, quietly)
Oil flask (reducing squeaks)
Leather gloves(fingertips thinner) and leather helm (with ear holes)
Winter blanket
Winter survival gear
White outercamo
Wooden half-gallon cask or growler of favorite brew. (personal bribe/gift for Barbarian chief)

Kragg Stoneheart |

That is fine by me Chainmail. As it is, I feel like I shouldn't add to much since I am the 7th wheel of the party. Since I am with Magnum go ahead with what you feel is best. I should let you know that I did not add any favored enemy bonuses to any of my skills in case it matters for perception checks against humans.

As requested Perception(+5) and Init(+1) pre-rolled and posted here to avoid sullying the storyline:
Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Init 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
I'll adjust equipment list and bonuses to include MW Thieves Tools. New Toys without any combat. Whoohoo ;-)

Given Hon's analysis of the situation and the extreme challenge of locking himself in (and that is what the barbarians seemed to intend), I had him determine he probably could lock or unlock the door with time and the masterwork tools. Given the huge size of the lock up to two others could aid in this endeavor if trained and with tools.
If there are any detrimental actions to taking 20 such as breaking tools, irreversibly breaking tumblers etc they are considered to happen as by taking 20 you have many 'failures along the way'. You would need to examine the mechanism in detail with the wedges removed to get a better read on the downside of taking 20. As of now, you think you can take 20 and open the lock--it "seemed" solid and untrapped.

Now Kragg, You know it is SUCH a fashion faux pas to wear white after labor day. Even if it is pitch black now, why think of the scandal and how the ghouls tongues would spread our embarrassment should Neji let the least bit of light escape from her fist. The HORROR! I'd rather face the undead than the Dwarven fashion police.

Good one Hon-- I did think it would be the elves worried about the color of the outfits, not the dwarfs.

Chainmail |

Brask and Kragg seem to be inspecting a secret door. Currently only Brask, Kragg, and Hon have ventured into the hall from the anteroom. Magnum edged up to the threshold, but hasn't crossed. Brask listened at the door. From Brask's game of charades you think either-- 1) he wants to turn into either a wolf, cat or bear or 2) he hears scratching on the other side of the door.
Orders from Thograt or Brask please to pop or bypass the door. Decide whether or not anyone from the back group comes closer.

Chainmail |

'Orders from Thograt or Brask please to pop or bypass the door.'
I was asking Thograt or Brask to decide, but individual initiative is not unheard of with the dwarves. I assumed there were only two options, open or go past. You now know opening was probably best. I am granting complete surprise as the 'loud dwarves' are far enough away to not be heard.

Chainmail |

You did the right thing. The noisy party advancing may have cost you the surprise round.
The tiny ones would be funny if they didn't have claws and were scary too--they are the size of a big housecat. They need to be in your square to hit you which will provoke an AoO if you have one. Tiny creatures can pack four to a square and can't provide a flanking bonus unless there are four of them in a square together.

Chainmail |

Undead won't be posting - It's a surprise round.
Those with initiatives>13 will get a surprise round and a full turn before the undead act. Everyone gets a surprise round. To clarify, undead right are the ones on the right on the map NOT to the right as you come in.
Brask is not engaged, tiny undead are surprised an have no reach at all.

Methinks I may have to adjust my character's warrior skills if I am to keep up with the quota.(Is there a bragging rights quota?) Of course, this was not my build, so please excuse the lack of DPR... Round0: miss; Round1:Caltrops anyone?notneeded;
Now onward with another ineffectual round for Hon.
Round2:Reload heavycrossbow.

Chainmail |

Thograt's build is fine.

Chainmail: I am just looking for some cheese to go with my whine. I knew that my choice of heavy crossbow would set him at a disadvantage, part of his background. As for his attributes, I am good there as well. I don't use dump stats. When Hon run out of heavy bolts, he'll lose the extra weight. My purpose was as skill monkey with flexible combat prowess vs weapon focus. Of course my one real regret is getting rid of the portable ram because of weight. Eh.
And let the dice gods favor my choices.
