Aerieth Deventis |

Aerieth is not really paying attention to the chit chat of the others, and when Bingo mentions the door, she carefully moves toward it looking for traps or anything else dangerous.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 9 + 1 = 28
What is this, super perception roll day?

Teo Brissett |

"Ah, looks like you've found something that was meant to be hidden, Bingo. Excellent."
Assume I cast Guidance on every Disable check.

TarkXT |

Aerieth discovers the door easily enough. It does not appear to be locked or have any real mechanisms at all. She also finds no traps worthy of note.
Inside the room is little more than a closet. But within partially covered by a fresh canvas is a body sized mirror, a ghostly glow comes from it as well as an unsettling chill.

Bejis Krupt |

Inside the room is little more than a closet.
For a moment, I thought we had a The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe moment coming up.
Beijs stares at the mirror. "I think it's time we prepared for combat." Bejis double checks his gear, arranging it as needed. He then kneels and starts praying to Gorum, asking him to guide the group to the heart of their fight. For the new guys, Bejis's beliefs about Gorum are a bit off, as he's never had a proper study of Religion. The gladiator school version was a bit short.
Bejis will strap a potion of Cure Serious Wounds at his belt for easy retrieval. "Anyone want to carry these?" Bejis will offer the 3remaining Potions of Cure Serious Wounds and 4 remaining Potions of Lesser Restoration he has from Janiven.

Bloodless |

"I'll take one" Bloodless similarly takes a Potion of Cure Serious.
"This isn't the Harem I was hoping for" Bloodless jokes dryly with a gallows humour. "That mirror looks pretty important, want to have a look?"

Teo Brissett |

Teo nods, and accepts the potions, if offered. "I'll hold onto these, if you want. I hope to not be involved in any melee activity, so they'll have more of a chance of not being broken with me."
After accepting the potions, she makes sure her weasel was tucked in his pouch. "Keep your head down, Ruprecht," she whispers.

Aerieth Deventis |

I prefer remaining out of combat, but will take one of each in case I, or someone else, needs them.
Aerieth then moves over to the mirror and begins to examine for any physical traps. If none are found, then she will cast Detect Magic and see what, if any, magic it holds.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 9 + 1 = 21 <-- assuming Guidance cast

Aerieth Deventis |

Strange. There is a very powerful magical trap on this mirror which could incinerate us all. But, what is very odd is that it appears to have already been disabled.
Aerieth looks to the others for any thoughts.

Bingomite Ralorphus Tealeaf |

Shuttering at the thought of being roasted alive Bingo grimaces. Just because being lit on fire would be a new experience that didn't mean he wanted to try it. Well that is extremely odd... While I don't know much about traps, I do know a thing or two about magical theory. I believe that once the link has been broken the invested energy should start to bleed off. Scholars call it the law of closed systems. That's the reason why some spells last longer than others. Aerieth, I don't want to disturb anything, but can you estimate how long it has been since the spell was disabled?
Making all of this up here, but I though it sounded conceivable.

Bejis Krupt |

Bejis starts to look carefully at the floor and any furniture in the room, looking for places dust might have been disturbed, or other telltales of passage might show. Once the floor has been checked, he'll check the cabinet and the other door.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
I assume Bloodless has track, and might be the best to date the timing of the passage.

Bingomite Ralorphus Tealeaf |

Oh dear Desna! I hope I don't regret this. Mutters Bingomite while forcing down the nervous bile that threatens to overwhelm him. As he watches Bloodless step through the mirror, Bingo reassuringly reaches one hand into a hidden pocket in cloak and withdraws a tiny purple and black swallowtail butterfly. Softly cooing to the butterfly Bingomite runs one stubby finger gently over the insects wing. Bless us little one. Bingo wispers before carefully tucking Nightsong back into his cloak. Calm and collected Bingo breaths one final prayer to his goddess before he steps up to the mirror and lays one hand on his warped image.

Bloodless |

Strange AP, the combats seem short and messy too, not sure the streakiness is very player friendly - just short brutal high risk encounters placed sporadically. I wonder if the writers were the same ones who gave us gems like Xanesha?

Bejis Krupt |

Bejis holds on to one Potion of Cure Serious Wounds, gives one to Bloodless, and 2 to Teo. Bejis will hold one Potion of Lesser Restoration and give 3 to Teo.
Did we get the Wand of Cure Light to one of our new guys?
Bejis will make sure he knows where his lamp, oil, and flint and steel are in case it's dark on the other side. Then, calm and ready to fight to the death, he steps into the mirror.

Teo Brissett |

I don't think I've been given a wand by the group.
Teo accepts the five potions. "Anyone else need a couple," she asks as she stores them, but by the time she turns around the others had already stepped through the portal. "Here goes nothing, she gulps, as she also places her hand on the mirror, expecting to reappear somewhere else.

This part of the AP was lovingly brought to you by Richard Pett who brought you such light hearted and warm adventures such as The Skinsaw Murders and The Wormwood Mutiny. :)

Ahhhh thought I recognised the handiwork. 'The Skinsaw Murders' a delightful rom-com if ever I saw one. I will now expect significant enemy forces that are way out of the party league and horrible traps of a vicious and punitive nature. I'm still scarred by Xanesha, and that fine encounter in book 2 of Second Darkness.
Blooldless looks about his new surroundings, and hopes that it is not the foyer of Pharasmas boneyard.

Bingomite Ralorphus Tealeaf |

In a uncoordinated roll, Bingomite tumbles through the other side of the mirror. Looking rather undignified the diminutive orange haired gnome sheepishly sweeps some dust off his his shirt, his cheeks red with embarrassment. Well that was different. The gnome thinks to himself, glancing at the room.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12

Teo Brissett |

Please take it, Bingo. Spreading our healing resources out is always a good idea! Did you get any of the potions that Bejis gave to me? If not, you should take at least a couple of them.

Bingomite Ralorphus Tealeaf |

I'll take one of the Potions of Cure Serious Wounds but since I can cast Lesser Restoration I think there's less of a need for me to hold on to that one.
I went back and looked at the Wand of Cure Light Wounds, and I show that it had 19 charges remaining so I will go ahead and update that on my character sheet. It also looked like the group purchased a Wand of Infernal Healing just before you went to the banquet. I wasn't sure if it had gotten lost in the shuffle.
Speaking of Wands, when I rolled up Bingomite, I purchased a partially charged wand of Enlarge Person. At the time I though it going to be accessible via the oracle route. I never updated it. If Tark is ok with it I would like to give that to Aerieth. I saw how effective it was on Bejis during the trial and wanted to use that trick more often.

Teo Brissett |

I marked one of the potions off, Bingo.
I also didn't remember this was a Pett adventure. We're all gonna die!!

Aerieth Deventis |

I will take the Wand of Enlarge Person, and should probably take one of the Potions of CSW as I do nto have any healing magic. I can use the Wand of IH though.
Someone coordinate who has what before we start to add the same thing to different peoples character sheets.

Teo Brissett |

Per Beljis's above post, I added two potions of cure serious wounds and three potions of lesser restoration. I subtracted one potion of cure serious wounds for Bingo, per my last post, leaving me with one and three, respectively. Easy peasy.

Bingomite Ralorphus Tealeaf |

Thankfully Bloodless doesn't have any buttlove crazy gay ghouls chopping people up out of loneliness for his "greatsword".
Funny enough I'm playing a Priest of Asmodeus in a Rise of the Runelord AP and foxglove has got a man crush on me. Still in Burnt Offereing but I'm dreading when his "gifts" start to arrive.

I'll remove the enlarge person wand from my equipment, it's got 13 charges remaining Aerieth.

TarkXT |

As all of you tumble, stride, or leap into the mirror in various ways and means the air takes on a sudden chill as you find yourself standing in a wide corridor.
The corridor extends from a pair of dull metal doors ahead of you. The walls, floor, and ceiling of this hall are paneled in gray wood, including
several empty alcoves along each wall. No source for the dim illumination is apparent. Shadows seem to dance at the corner of the eye in the alcoves, and a soft, barely audible whispering floats in the air of this strange place. What appears to be a slumpedover corpse dressed in tattered robes lies heaped on the floor between the closest alcoves.

Bejis Krupt |

Bejis will avoid touching anything in here, until it has been cleared by Aerieth as trap-free.
Bejis will first listen carefully for any other beings around, or to try to figure out what the whispering is. Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Bejis will then examine the body as best he can without touching it, checking to see if he can find any clues as who it might be. Specifically f it might be Thesing. Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28 He will also check to see if it is appears fresh (intact) or very old (since decomposed), although I don't have Heal.

TarkXT |

Bejis discerns that unless Thesing has aged about a hundred years and magically transformed into an elf than this is not Thesing. There's no apparent reason for the mans death. But rather than the terrible death grimace the groups more violent party members have come used to seeing this elf's face is locked in a serene sleep. The body does not look terribly old and Bejis guesses with his unskilled eye no more than a day or two. The robes are wizardly of the type often found among schooled arcane casters in Cheliax. He clutches a scroll in one hand and the crook of his arm is hooked around the strap of a large backpack that appears to be in excellent condition. Two other scrolls, blank and useless, are lying on the ground nearby.

Bloodless |

"Explains the disturbance of the trap then...reckon there's a party down here? Seems strange they didn't take his pack or move the body though."
Bloodless begins looking about for signs of other people or movement.
Survival/Track 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29

Teo Brissett |

Teo had stood back while the others had been looking around. "Stand back for a second guys...I'll check for any magic on the corpse and around the room. There might still be a magic trap here."
She casts a quick little spell, causing her eyes to gleam blue for a split second and she looks around for any auras in the room.
Oh goodness. I have now been specifically cursed by author Pett in his own adventure. I'll start preparing my backup character now, lol. Oh and I cast Detect Magic.

Bingomite Ralorphus Tealeaf |

Aerieth, did that trap look like it had been dispelled or disarmed? The gnome quietly whispers while letting Teo cast her magic. Taking out his spectacles, he gestures with his glasses towards the elf to emphasis his point. If the trap was dispelled I suppose this could have been the person who did it, but if it was disarmed then I think we can assume whoever did it was not this elf. Bloodless, were you able to tell if it was more then one person who passed through the room on the mirror, or did it seem like it was a group? Thoughtfully the stubby gnome taps one foot while trying to reason out what happened in the room.

Bloodless |

"That's just what I am looking for. " Bloodless continues his inspection. "If I can find a trail perhaps Scrappy's nose can follow it"
Favoured terrain is Urban, but think this is Dungeon... favoured Enemy is Outsiders (Native), not gonna help vs elven adventurers!

TarkXT |

You know you are f!~&ed when the author of the module pops in briefly to threaten you. :)
Unfortunately for all of Bloddless's skill it seems impossible for him to really track anything in here. No dust on the floors and the hard gray stone does not readily leave tracks. On top of this the strangeness of the place messes with his normal senses. At best Bloodless can say more than one creature has been through here and one has the slightest stench of brimstone. Though how many, and how long ago is impossible to tell through raw skill alone.
Teo detects magic coming from the backpack itself and from the scroll in the dead elfs hand. It's moderate necromancy in the elf's hand and moderate conjuration coming from the backpack itself.
At the moment Aerieth finds nothing of enormous interest in the area. At least not until she messes with the scene itself.

Bloodless |

I was tring not to make eye contact, if I pretend he was never here I don't have to acceopt the reality we might well be f****d!
Bloodless relays the information back to the party.
"Brimstone?" Bloodless gets Scraps to sniff the scent, "Maybe we can follow the one who's been bathing somewhere odd"
