Okay. So maybe we should try a recruitment in a few weeks?

Wanted: One Maestro for We Be Goblins Too: The Musical (GM recruitment)

Four loveable singing goblins, two birds, one hyper-intelligent cat and a sackful of slugs from the Dread Pirate Goblin clan are needing your help to continue their musical mayhem. We sang our way through We Be Goblins. We defeated Vorka the witch in song and dance numbers! We are now in possession of a beached pirate ship in a swamp, a bunch of fireworks, and assorted asian loot.

We're ready to sing and dance our way through our next adventure! Will you help us?

Required: A sense of humor, and an appreciation of the ridiculous. Adapt the free We Be Goblins Too module, or write your own piratey adventures for us. We will sing and dance our way through anything you give us, if you provide the plot!

Oops. PvP is totally different than PbP. Ronk is bad with typing

She loves the role-play much more than roll-play. She likes light hearted more than drama, but drama has its place. After I had her look at everyone's profile her first question was if anyone knew Twitchy is a reader and then if anyone else had secrets. Also the type of game we would want.

I need to update my profile with Twitchy's bossy yet protective of others' personality. That's a great question about the reading. She cares about more than Fluffer now. She has a whole family in you!

I don't think that Twitchy has mentioned to anyone she's a secret reader. She still has that halfling alchemy book back in her cave hideout somewhere. However, she saw what happened to scribbleface and she doesn't want to lose her friends and Ronk because of the reading and writing thing!

Okay, how does this sound as an addition to Twitchy's background?

Twitchy started out her adventuring life loving two things in this world most of all: throwing bombs and her giant vulture hatchling, Fluffer Buttkins. She now also loves the party that she travels with, though she has trouble admitting it. Despite herself she has fallen in love with Ronk Bonk, a somewhat adorable yet annoying goblin barbarian with no sense of self-preservation whatsoever. She is also fond of her best friends Medge the Pirate King, Gurp of the Swamp, and Ronk's oddly clever kitty mount, Mort.

Twitchy will do just about anything to avoid being named leader, including doing all the actual work of leading: making decisions, coming up with plans, herding cats, slugs and goblins. She's currently happy with the current government of the Dread Pirate Clan, with her friend Medge as King but with Twitchy doing all the hard thinking.

There's phat lewt and rum rations.

My background is somewhere on this play by post discussion.

Greeting and salutations singing gobs and magic kitty.

I am PlotBunny, may the interrogation begin. I heard from Ronk you need a new general manager and hope to earn the position. I love plot and lulz equally. I would love forming side quests to fix each character and use those side quest the add to the main quest.

I do have a question though as level 3 gob tribe you are force to be reckoned with. How far would you all like to take this? And Where to?

Running the We Be Goblins Too module would be fun (short but fun), but do you want a gob-friendly campaign.

Nice to meet you, Plot Bunny! Any friend of Ronk's is a friend of ours!

Twitchy and the others decided to start a new goblin tribe and keep the loot they found. I'm assuming that Ol' Fattyface (aka Chief Gutwad) is not happy with us. Now it may be that other gobs will join us because we're awesome... That's okay. But we're not joining up with the Licktoads. Individual licktoads may join up with us, under Dread Pirate rules.

Why not do the module first and see how you feel about a gob campaign?

Hi Twitchy
I would gladly run the module for you all. I just want to know what you all want from a GM so I can better suit you.  You all are very creative.

Now for the transparency:
I am currently not running a campaign so I can give you all my full attention. I have 13 years experience running tables and have ran quite a few systems, but I would be new to running a play by post. I personally love longer campaigns, but gaming is not one way street. I have run dungeon crawls, tavern rounds, and modules. I do not however run anything strait from the book (like almost every gm in history).

What I would require:
A week to read the entirety of your run through of We Be Goblins so that certain NPCs mesh with your choices, and to change a few things in the We Be Goblins Too
Post once a day- so the thread doesn’t die.
Updated Backgrounds – Basic Character History update, 2 Goals, A secret you character keeps, 3 superstitions you character has, and a character timeline.

What would you demand of a GM?

A toothy grin forms, Ronk gets to make demands and the voice in the sky must listen? Rubbing his green hands together and chuckling, Ronk wants more Bonking! Lots more Bonking. Do you here me Squishy Pink skinned Sky Voice? Ronk wants to become a Legend! Goblins for eons to come will sing of Our greatness! Pink Skins will shake in their dry stone hovels! Shaking his fists at the sky while screaming his desires for glory.

Breathing deeply, Also Twitchy will get what ever she wants. Whatever she wants you understand! Medge shall have all of the honor and glory to be found and Gurp shall have his swamp exactly as he wants it. And since he gives Swamp Curses Pink Skinned Sky Voice should listen. Hmmm, what else does Ronk want... Right! slamming his fist into an open palm, The Mort Kitty! He is my mount, a great and terrifying creature. He needs to be able to be fly! Ronk wants to rain down the Bonks from the sky. Pink Skinned Sky Voice thinks the sky belongs to them! Ronks will take the sky for Himself.

As a player I want plot, don't really care about what just plot of some sort. Also this we are very poetic so I expect some poetry and maybe a ballad every now and then.

Building our own tribe sounds like fun. So does burning the Licktoads to ground. If we can get the numbers I would love to have some encounters with Sandpoint. Not sure the Gurp could be convinced to leave the swamp so adventuring I a swamp. That means a Black Dragon. Yes I said it! I want to fight a freaking Black Dragon!

Ronk want to be a hero, a goblin hero, but a hero non the less. To do this I need a sword and a destiny. I have a bonking stick, which is better than a sword, now I need the destiny!

From a GM I want somebody who cares more about plot than fights or following the rules 100%. 'Plot and Lulz'. We're a very...eclectic...group so somebody who can roll with that is great. I like the idea of not doing everything by the book and I'm intrigued by the character side quest idea.

I think we're staying in the swamp. Medge can't leave her boat! Well, just not for a long time. You have to leave the boat to kill things and take their stuff, that's how pirates work!

Things to do:

Get Twitchy her wedding present with Ronk.
Plunder and Lewt more stuffs.

On a more serious note, on Golarion's history, goblins are generally not well received, for various reasons, generally due to their pyromanical urges. Neither are talking cats, for that matter. It might be easier either for us to be generally away from other races. It could be accomplished either by us carving our own kingdom, or doing the whole thing Wild Wild West style.

Hi Medge and Mortimer,
Varisia is pretty much in the sticks so any number of things can be done. A repeating thrum of a banjo is heard on the air. The skill of the player of said banjo is questionable at best. A gob voice can be heard in the distance…
“The boy cannot play,
If littl’ ununs stay,
Ol’ Flinn maybae force a slay,
Lamastu dangit’ boy!”
The sounds of munch bonking and conking can be heard far and wide.

I plan on throwing plot at you and then letting you go. What you all finally decide to do won’t be me. If you all making out a little kingdom/tribe or can sail/ride into the sunset or some odd combo is good with me.

Sowwie Ronk.

I feel invading Sandpoint may not be a very good idea. Mainly because we aren't truly evil. A town will contain children. If we attack Sandpoint, raze it to the ground, there will be collateral damage.

(Also, a part of me has defended Sandpoint for too long, it's colouring my perceptions).

Raiding some merchant, however, is fair game. We need to deal with the lizards first though.

Medge, I watched the first season of Galavant on my flight back from Japan. I liked the first few, but towards the end of it I found it getting too ridiculous.

So I probably should chime in here.

Twitchy wants learning, new experiences and her friends beside her. She also wants things that will challenge her mentally. She loves goblin competitions like the festival we had at the beginning of WBG. More silly competitions!

She's not evil. She doesn't want to be leader despite the fact that she leads. She wants to love her friends and keep them safe from themselves. She also has the kernel of an idea about getting goblins to cooperate. She's gotten it to work on a tiny scale and is wondering if she can expand it...

(Poor Twitchy. Doomed to failure, I fear.)

Oh, and she likes setting things on fire. And robbing stupid people like the goblin who ran the goblin game's house. She will do anything to protect her team. Even if Ronk makes things difficult!

Also... Any chance we can get Edelhur to tell you what was going on with Vorka's sister? I'd like to finish that encounter since someone dangled a mystery in front of Twitchy's face. She's clever, but also curious as hell. Curiosity is her downfall. She'll poke at enigmas, just to see what happens!

In an alternate universe, Ronk and Twitchy's honeymoon. In reality, I cannot imagine a honeymoon without the whole group there! This was co-written with Ronk. There must be singing, Plot Bunny!
______________________________________

After the battle with Vorka came to an end, Twitchy sat up in the Crow’s Nest of Vorka’s ship with Ronk. She put her head on his shoulder. ”We did it, Ronk! We got Vorka, we got loot, we got this awesome pirate ship that doesn’t sail stupid places, but stays right here! But you know what the most important thing we got?”

Ronk scratches his head. “Ummm, we still alive?”

Twitchy hugs him. “Yes, and we gots each other! Forever!”

Nuzzling Twitchy’s face, Ronk mumbles into her ear. “Twitchy wants to keep Ronk?”

Twitchy looks into his eyes, and strokes his monster hat. “Always!”

Darting his face forward Ronk kisses Twitchy quickly. Pulling back he keeps his face inches from hers. “Ronk is keeping you forever!”

“Let’s go! Just the two of us... And Fluffer!”

His eyes widen at the idea of leaving the of leaving. “Where?”

Twitchy leaps on to Fluffer, and raises her voice to the sky.
Ride: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31
Perform Sing: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17

TWITCHY:
I can show you the swamp
Stinking, dampish, exploded...
Just like all the bombs I loaded
For Vorka’s homicide!

We can travel the sky
Fluffer Buttkins, me and you!
There’s so much we can do
As we kill stuff side by side!

She offers a hand up to Ronk, inviting him to climb up in the saddle with her. Taking a deep breath Ronk throws himself on Fluffer’s behind Twitchy. Fluffer squawks and shakes his wings, but Twitchy pets the vulture's feathered ruff and he settles. Wrapping his arms around Twitchy’s waist, Ronk looks around as Fluffer takes flight. Having never been off the ground without being thrown Ronk’s face quickly contorts from concern at falling to glee at safely flying.

His arms feel nice around her. Leaning into each other they continue in song:

TWITCHY:
A whole new swamp...
Maybe other ecosystems too!
No chief to give us grief
What a relief!
Ronk, why are you screaming?

Ronks slams his mouth shut. Tightening his grip on Twitchy he starts to sing into her ear.

RONK:
A whole new swamp?
Somewhere we have never been
It will be just the three of us
There's no need to fuss
Together we will travel swamp to swamp

You’ll make all the bombs fall
Then I’ll smash things with feeling!
Twitchy, look at the stars the sky’s revealing!
So far from the safe and murky swamp

TWITCHY
A whole new Swamp
You better hold your nose!

RONK:
A hundred thousand things to smell!

TWITCHY:
Hold your breath it gets better!

RONK:
We are ready to face the world
See our future unfurled
We can’t go back to the stupid Licktoads!

TWITCHY:
A whole new Swamp

RONK:
Far away from this place

TWITCHY:
New dogs and horses to pursue

RONK:
Every moment gets weirder

BOTH:
We’ll chase them anywhere
There’s bombs to spare
Let me share this whole new swamp with you!

TWITCHY:
A whole new swamp

RONK:
A whole new swamp

TWITCHY:
That’s where we’ll be

RONK:
[nodding]That’s where we’ll be

TWITCHY:
New things to taste

RONK:
We’ll lay them to waste

BOTH:
Just you and me!

Then Twitchy and Ronk look at each other, and realize they've forgotten something... The rest of their team. Hurrying Fluffer back, they go back to the ship. They need Medge, Gurp and Math Kitty too. Except for extra special bitey acrobatic cuddle time... That's still the two of them!

If you don't have the module, I can pass it to you, but I'll need your email. One thng I can say about the Shackles is that they ain't racist. The town didn't bat an eyelash when 2 half orcs, a lizard(nagaji) and devil spawn(tiefling) walked into town.

Would like to know want home rules from the campaign you all want to keep. I.e. like Ronk's Roll With It feat.

With the Roll With It feat I would like to negate piercing damage from the effect, list but all Roll With It to affect force effects (i.e. magic missile). However you must know the blow is coming to use this feat (i.e. surprise attacks are unaffected).

I do not plan on taking you all to the shackles, but I do have the module. I will be using it for ideas.

I'm not even sure what home rules we had, to be honest.

The biggest home rule that I'd like to have in play is that we're in a musical. I'd like the rules of a musical comedy universe to be in play...

Here are some of the rules of musical comedy as I see them:

  • People break into spontaneous song and dance at emotional moments
  • The song becomes either becomes part of the action, or momentarily stops time so that the song can proceed
  • Songs can either be internal soliloquies or external expressions of thought
  • Groups of backup singers, dancers or even the enemy can join in, from seemingly nowhere, to sing and dance in the choruses
  • Everything returns back to normal gameplay at the end of the song

    Does this make sense?

Yup. Though I'd go on a time stop route.

We're currently on a 15 point buy, mostly goblins, killed Squealy Nord because...BACON! Not the usual murderous goblins...and...I can't think of any superstitions for myself. Mortimer is an atheist. Want to help me think of some?

I love the idea Twitchy, This is my idea thoughts?

In Combat and Out of Combat
Speaking is a free action, so it would fallow that poetry and song would be to.

Soliloquies should have a warning text I.E.:
    -Soliloquy Begin/Ends-
So that everyone knows it is happening in a character’s head, and therefore without a form of telepathy and/or concentration others don’t see it occurring.

Time stops are my favorite! As long as everybody goes back to norms I say great, and best of all it is not going to get confusing.

In Combat and effecting time and space
Dancing in combat is another matter, if it would move your character beyond their max distance (roughly) to then no, but as long as the character PC or NPC is not moving beyond their max speed how they get there is up to them. So as long as net distance is zero and no combat actions or hostile/party beneficial actions are taken I say go for it. Long live RP, So DANCE MY LITTLE GOBS DANCE!!

    Hey Mort,
You have the most open ended backstory of the group which is the fun. Think about where you came from, a gnome had to have lifted you to true intelligence. NO other “intelligent” species can they met the being that gave them the spark of Witt. You knew them personally.

The closest Humanity had to that was Aroden. Whose Fall caused Cheliax to turn to Infernal powers, and Taldor to look ONLY backwards to an age they were mentored by him. Talk about daddy issues.

What beliefs does your character have about gnomes love them or hate em. Instead of using Morty as witless cannon fodder the gnomes chose to give you the choice to choose. This is a choice few creatures ever get to make (I.E. Warhorses).

Actually once you get down to it, Mortimer's backstory can be seen to be quite dark. He's basically a freak of nature - how many awakened animals are there around?

Not to mention he didn't get a choice on being awakened or roped in to fight the gnome vs human war. Understandably, he could have run off after being awakened, but his family was there. The gnomes were desperate and harnessed whatever resources at hand, including fluffy fluffy animals.

Some gnomes would have argued that the animals should have gotten to retain their innocence and not be moulded into weapons of war, but clearly got overruled - nor is it surprising, for gnomes do what they must, when the need drives. At least they had the decency to equip him for war.

Superstitious beliefs are irrational and in the pathfinder universe atheism is unfounded, because the gods, the afterlife and divine magic are facts and huge fields of study. Your character is not agostic which can mean he is just on the fence, but a atheist which means he is pretty much the equivalent of a hard core creationist in our world.

That did not come from no where. His superstitions is his lack of belief. Making that the outcome of his Rise to intelligence is profound.

If there was a god, why did he allow the gnome village to be destroyed? Why didn't he allow the rest of the animals to escape? Why didn't he smite the humans down? Was that all part of his great design? Why?! *cue anguished howl*

There is no god, because if there was a god, my home would never have been destroyed. The gnomes had done no wrong, the humans were to blame for the entire incident, and the humans won that war. There are no higher powers that be, and the only one responsible for your destiny, is yourself.

P.S - Mortimer would end up in the Wall of the Faithless(3.5 thing) after death, if there was such an equivalent in Pathfinder.

Twitchy, Ronk, I LOVE that song. Choosing the same disney song I used for your wedding was clever; it's like when the romantic heroes hear a love song for the first time and then they make it theirs and sing it to each other as they ride off into the sunset. Very Musical!

I've been thinking about Medge's fluff, and I was wondering if I could do something a little unique with it. Instead of making it a biography could I write a couple of very short stories as told by Medge? Maybe throw in a ballad or two? Peppered with lies of course, but rather obvious ones.

Medge has a small handful of superstitions. Mostly about what not to do on boats. Is it a superstition to think you can stab your way out of life's problems?

Maybe the one that goes, "All problems can be solved by stabbing, if the problem ain't solved, it's cause you're not stabbing it hard enough?"

And don't say lies, it's such an ugly word. Use urm...uhh "edits for story telling purposes." Afterall, the truth is sometimes quite bland and doesn't go well for a good story.

The superstitions need not be massive they are just there to give a character depth. If you want to get creative with your background sure. I just want to know a bit more about your character. I do not have a format preference, and if you want to put in the extra work that is fine by me.

I would how ever still like a timeline for your character.
