Dear brother members of the order of the scourge are not evil. We only destroy any and all who dare to break the laws. With force.

Max stick with me and you shall never get hit!

I shall abuse the Antagonize feat!

And I will always offer healing to those who are fellow soldiers.

Anyone get upset if I threw in a gmpc? I mean, I might hand gm reins over if someone asks or has an idea. That's part of the premise.

It would be Lupi Rhatwell, the halfling commoner/bard?

no problem for me.

I have no problem.

Go ahead.

Do it, Fishy.

We're not closed, by the way.

This sounds like a great concept and I hope it flourishes. I happened along just as it fired up and the lurking's been enjoyable so far.

I'd love to get involved but the two PCs I could move over are both psions (L7 Generalist/gadgeteer, L6 Vitalist Mender) which are "out of scope" for the experiment.

I do have a character concept I'm working on (for something else) that I suspect would fit well (albeit very low-level compared to the esteemed Paladins and Barbarian currently involved), but there's another issue: While I'm a year into Pathfinder with three different characters, I still consider myself new to the system. And I've decades of tabletop, a few years of online, even PbM experience (Flying Buffalo which, amazingly enough, is still around)... but zero exposure to PbP save lurking a campaign or two for a while now.

I'm slated for an introductory game where I can safely get my feet wet with no risk of screwing up others' enjoyment. But that won't be starting for a couple of weeks, and "the Thingey" just keeps tempting and taunting, so...

Would y'all be open to a PbP rookie?

Thanks,
Dux

Bring it (yourself), I say!

Yeah! Go for it!

Thanks for the consideration!

TET, would you confirm that you're okay with stuff outside of core, such as the following racial trait?

GM:

Tattooed Mystic (Human)

You bear the elaborate tattoos of your people, marking you as a free son or daughter of the road.

Benefit: You gain a +1 trait bonus on saving throws against charm and compulsion effects. Additionally, you are proficient with bladed scarves and starknives.

(This would imply you're also okay with bladed scarves in general.)

The group I play with uses d20pfsrd as their "bible" so I'm not used to cruising the official PRD. The above might be in there, but I didn't spot it at a glance.

Thanks,
Dux

It's fine.

Fantastic!

If the Almighty Trout who is and was and shall always be Fishy approves of my Lvl 10 Kitsune Sorcerer (Which I shall PM you at a more convenient hour with the completed Character.)
Allons-y

I don't know if you know how to check this yet, chica. But you can send it any time.

Would you like any lower-level PCs? I'm working on a character idea (sylvan-blooded sorcerer- might need to rethink it with the kitsune though). Planning to make him Lv 10 to match the others, unless you want some variation.

Low level is fine.

Heh... I hope so, because I took you literally. Really literally.

I'd forgotten how fragile and squishy L1s are. It'll be an interesting experience learning to crawl all over again, especially amongst these 5s and 9s and 10s and such! Guess I'll be hanging with Lupi...

Anyway, stat block's up for your approval. I have a backstory in mind, just need to write it up.

Let me know if you have any concerns!

Thanks,
Dux (well, Tuich from here on out I guess...)

We'll take care of you! (Sure will!) (Couldn't have said it better myself!) (Don't worry!) (You'll be safe with us!)

Aw Niu, I didn't mean to ignore you (kinda hard to ignore a blue gas cloud anyway). It's just that I know some halflings (good folks all), but have never made the acquaintance of... well, of a ball-o'-pixies before. It seemed a bit rude to just assume you'd want to be friends with a random down-on-her-luck Varisian, ya know?

And let's hope the care-taking will run both ways and I can watch out for you as well. Yay teamwork!

Tuich, you still here?

Yes m'am, whatcha need?

Shall I escort you to the drop zone?

Bring AOE...

If I'm approved, I'm ready to go with an intro post prepared.

Not having done this before I'm not sure of the mechanics; do I just go ahead and post to the game thread, or is there are actual "escort" mechanism involved?

(Since I'm an unknown quantity I'm fine with PMing you what I've written first if you want to sanity-check me.)

Max: Sadly, I didn't let reading the game thread influence the character generation; Tuich would have been totally ineffective against the spider swarm and isn't really armed with AoE stuff.

Yet.

"Bwahaha," etc.

Tuich, you will have to contend with falling 20ft out of the air. You can pm me if you so choose. The first page of the thread ought to let you know where you start, and the inn isn't being so quiet when you land.

Assuming you aren't squishled.
I would suggest screaming as you fall.

But you are accepted.

Thanks. I'll take a pass on the PM if you don't need it, I'm pretty comfortable with what I wrote. Aware of the impending fall damage and will roll accordingly. (At least it's only 20 feet...)

She won't be screaming for reasons that will eventually become apparent, but she'll be at the tavern in short order.

Here is Pharysene Ssethan, Sylph Oracle of Wind.

Well, Pharysene might be too similar to Tuich, here is an alternate.

Inspects Niulamayu closely
"Say, you look familiar...

Both are fine. The jobs aren't always normal, but choose one, Camris, and make your way to the drop point.

:D

FYI, I'm keeping the Count's campaign as Niulamayu's immediate history; basically the unexpected shift happened right where we left off in the other.

Is there a reason to avoid similarity amongst the PCs? As I understood it this will be something of a free-for-all with multiple parties/objectives, potentially. I'd think we could use two or three of pretty much anything...

EDIT: Besides, I'm not a wind girl plus I'm new at the Oracle biz... it'd probably be wise to have one on staff who actually knows what she's doing.

Well, looks like you have the Paladins covered, so here I come!

For the consideration of our Piscean GM: Eliah Daring, intrepid explorer! 6th-level Archaeologist bard. Can you handle another PC?

I haven't played PbP before, but it seems pretty fun. I can post at least once a day. Let me know if there's anything on this PC I should change.

I have 2 things to ask, if you'd like me to join:

1) The Archaeologist's Luck ability, strictly read, doesn't gain additional rounds per level. The original author said it was intentional, but suggested changing it to 1 round/level + Cha. Which way would you like to run it? I'm fine with either method.

2) I hope to fluff most of her spells as "mundane" tricks (ex: telling a joke for hideous laughter, using special powders for pyrotechnics, grease for grease, etc). Not for any mechanical benefit, just flavor, if it's ok.

Thanks for looking! :)

"We likes flavor, we does."

Welcome to the recruitment thread. Sounds like an interesting/fun character concept.

You would be incredibly useful, even if confined to basecamp. There's an entire library what needs decoding. :)
And that's not even talking about your trap abilities.

Sounds interesting, and this PC of mine got abandoned by its GM attack at the beginning of his adventure so...
Care for letting a Level 5 Half Orc Alchemist Cook in?

Ooh, no more iron rations? Real food?! Mr. Dwarf, chant with me!

"COOK! COOK! COOK!"

Hey I have a Survival of 9 thank you very much... My cooking can't be all that bad. (Just giving a hard time welcome aboard!)

Well I haven't had the pleasure of your talent yet, remember. I was looking forward to steak and carrots, or even just stew tonight!

Well, "Salty" doesn't "know" how to cook... He IS a professional honest-to-god cook.

Har. That would be fun. I want to introduce the new characters, but first I want to send this first crop on an adventure.

I have the Crunch almost done with the character, but the background is not done. She is level 11 (witch/bard) hope that is ok. Also hope Dhampir is ok, sorta going for an enchantress manipulator type.

I should be able to whip up the Spells and Background tomorrow.

I am male, playing female...

I think that 80% of the female characters made in these types of games are guys playing them...

Heh... and I think your 80% figure has a 90% probability of being way low.

Nothing at all wrong with doing a little gender swapping, Halvettica. If nothing else it gives you an opportunity to "stretch" a little.

Personally, I try to alternate genders so I wouldn't pigeonhole myself. My last PC was a male Vitalist, so... hello Tuich! (And the character I roll for the newbie game starting in a few weeks will be a guy again.)

(One game I'm in, all four of us created our characters independently and when we brought the party together, it turned out to be all girls! It's become something of a running gag. Now we have an actual girl wanting to play and we can't decide whether to tell her she has to maintain the all-female PC paradigm, or the "everybody plays the opposite gender" paradigm by rolling up a man, hehe.)

I tried to give a little bit more credit to the "superior" gender. After all we do try to get them interested in the subjects we are interested and I'm sure that is how Trout got introduced into the world that is D&D/Pathfinder (or where ever she started).

Actually, I did it myself. :)
And then was brought into a bigger fold by another female.

Haha in our group males are the minority! Giggle I think Phil was the only guy to try playing a girl and he was very bad at it. Though I must say his ability to play a paladin was much worse.
