If Grimm is right and it would go for a dead rat, perhaps we could poison the rat first? Combine one part dead rat with one part dead spider poison gland.
"Wow, Dink, you were right! And I like that plan, Glyph. I have a smoked rat I was saving for later, I can offer to it. Might keep 'im occupied while one of you can get a fresher one poisoned up for it. OR lure it away." Arda slowly reaches into her pack and pulls out a desiccated, smoked rat and tosses it on the ground right by the snake.
"If this doesn't work, I can blast it back with some magic if some of you are ready to shoot it as well. Just not sure how much to save up for anything else that might be in 'ere."
Sorry for the absence. Real life popped up, but am back in the game now.

Glyph Harny |

Nodding at Arda's comment Glyph beings heading to the tower where the party encountered the spider.
Before leaving Glyph turns to the party and says,
Would someone accompany me to go get the spider venom? There appears to be danger everywhere around here.
How long will it take Glyph [and whoever decides to join him] to get to the tower? Also will it take a check to attempt to remove the poison glands from the giant spider?

Glyph Harny |

I was planning a dagger and a steady hand, but if you have a better idea?
Int: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Wis: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Glyph moves to remove the glands. Assuming the rolls don't give him information on why a dagger method would be hazardous

???: 1d20 ⇒ 12
???: 1d20 ⇒ 7
Marcus is able to locate what he thinks is the venom glands and Glyph agrees. They're mostly attached, and Glyph is able to cut the whole section out from the carapace, but the spider's organs are basically stringy goop that can't be carried by hand without some kind of container.
What do you do?

Glyph Harny |

Glyph looks around the room for a container.
Wis: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
If I recall this tower contains a lot of junk, is there a pot or bowl and if not what is seen?

Glyph Harny |

Glyph scoops of the spider bits and heads back to the main building.
Glyph finds a sizable dead rat. Then, Glyph cuts an incision along the belly of the rat and extracts its guts. Finally, Glyph dumps the extracted poison gland into the rats open cavity.
Glyph then returns to the room with the snake with his newly designed treat tossing it toward the snake.
Rat toss: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
I know all that may happen while the rest of the party takes other actions. Also, that toss probably foiled my plan.

hiiamtom |
???: 3d20 ⇒ (13, 7, 4) = 24
Glyph applies the poison as best he can (I'll use that rat toss roll) and as Marcus holds the door Glyph throws the rat bundle.
Glyph Improvised Weapon: 1d20 ⇒ 8, Advantage: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Rat Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
The rat bounces off the huge snakes' head and it looks momentarily stunned before it lashes out and bites the rat since it "attacked."
Giant Snake Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24, Advantage: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Bite Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 1) + 4 = 8
The rat explodes in the snake's mouth and it shakes and snaps at the goop in its mouth.
Snake Constitution Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3, Advantage: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Poison Damage: 2d8 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4
The snake is pissed and immediately turns to attack the group at the door. This ends a surprise round.
Grimm: 1d20 ⇒ 8, Advantage: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Marcus: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25, Advantage: 1d20 ⇒ 7
Dinkerdink: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11, Advantage: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Arda: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8, Advantage: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Glyph: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16, Advantage: 1d20 ⇒ 9
Giant Snake: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Turn Order:
Everyone may act!

Marcus Covell |

Round 1, Feinting Attack
Marcus moves in and stabs at the snake with his rapier, first feinting to improve his chances to hit.
Rap Att: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Rap Att Adv: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Rap Ctit Dam: 2d8 + 4 + 4 + 2d8 ⇒ (3, 1) + 4 + 4 + (6, 2) = 20

Glyph Harny |

I had hoped the snake would have been paralyzed... guess we'll need to settle for violence.
Glyph rolls his eyes and calls forth a fire bolt targeting the snake.
Fire Bolt: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 5

Tis'kaliss |

Tis'kaliss runs in after Marucus, slashing at the beast.
Scimitar: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Off-hand Scimitar: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Arda Skitterstone |

"Well, I thought that would have worked better, and I fed it my dinner!" Arda charges forward with her scimitar and assuming there is space, slashes away at the giant snake. She hopes together they can take it down quickly, and if nothing else, with multiple targets, the harm it can cause is lessened.
Scimitar attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Scimitar damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

hiiamtom |
Surprising the snake, you all leap into the room creating a chaotic melee as spells and blades all strike the snake's huge body wounding the creature. Marcus gets the cleanest strike, but as he penetrates the belly of the snake his rapier strikes something hard.
The snake shudders for a moment, and then falls dead.
What do you do?

Glyph Harny |

I think I heard a clang of a blade against the insides of that snake.
Glyph takes his dagger and bisects the snake long ways attempting to reveal what it was attempting to digest.

Marcus Covell |

Hey, what a find! If there are no objections, I can make good use of this shield. Anyone any good at checking chests for traps.
I would like to keep and use the shield. Please let me know if someone else wants it, and we can roll for it.
Marcus straps the shield on his shield-arm. he then begins to look at the chest to see if he can discern any traps or mechanisms.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Magic Item: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Magic Item: 1d8 ⇒ 2
Magic Item: 1d20 ⇒ 11
Magic Item: 1d12 ⇒ 3
This shield bears the emblem that does not match with any of the nations around these parts. The language inscribed on its unblemished golden front are not the common language, and none of the languages you speak can translate it.

Marcus Covell |

Marcus steps back with his hands up.
The chest is trapped! Is anyone capable of disabling the thing. It looks like it will spring when the chest is opened.

Glyph Harny |

Can a check be rolled to describer the shield inscription?
Glyph examines the chest to identify what the party might need to disable.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

Arda Skitterstone |

Seeing Marcus step back, warning about a trap, Arda starts to move forward. "Dunno about the others, but I could take a crack at it. I can be handy at that sorta thing."
Then seeing Glyph pointing out Marcus's miscalculations, Arda is now unsure of her help is necessary. "So, uh... do we wanta just open it? Want me to get a look for another opinion? What's the plan?"

Arda Skitterstone |

OK, who wants what?
Arda looks inside the chest. She grabs some coppers and then shakes her head, "Nothing I need. Can't go wrong with some extra coins in the pockets, though."
Unless anyone objects, she will take 5 cp.

Tis'kaliss |

"I could use the crossbow. It would be nice to have a way to contribute if I cannot get close enough to attack."
If no one protests, Tis'kaliss will take the crossbow and at least 15 of the bolts.

Marcus Covell |

Thanks, not an option for me then. I did not think it would be.
Marcus shakes his head at the contents.
You guys divvy it up. I am good with the shield taken from the snake's belly.

Glyph Harny |

Grimm looks over the loot and turns away.
"Nothing there that I want, but lets take the rest of that copper...never know when you might need your last copper!!"
Should we divide it up then? 5 cp for all but Adra (she already claimed her share) and 3 for drinks at a tavern.

Marcus Covell |

Ok, that is 14+2 for Dex, right?
Let me get another look at that Scale Mail, eh?
Right now I am at 18/19 AC. With the Scale Mail I would be at 19/20 AC, but have disadvantage on stealth. I think I will go with the added protection.
Marcus starts to change into the scale mail.
I will make good use of this, since no one else seems to want it. Ya sure you don't need it, Dink?

Dinkerdink |

Marcus starts to change into the scale mail.I will make good use of this, since no one else seems to want it. Ya sure you don't need it, Dink?
"No you go ahead," Dink said while bent over and started skinning the snake. "He'll make a nice belt.
