So we are going with Nenet the psychic as solidly locked by all 4 of you? And what about the 2nd? The second choice seems to be 2 for Fionn, but that choice seems to be wavering. Also Will dropped out.


If Jardar-Ki want Fionn as well then I'm fine going with him. Though I would rather have Alliah myself.

For the sake of a quick decision, I'll support Fionn.

From an RP perspective, would it help your fantasy/sci-do overlap if he referred to them as mechanical beasts/constructs? I'm sure we can ask him to make that stylistic change.


Constructs and Golems fit a whole lot better into both my view of things and the theme of the AP (imo) than machines, robots or androids. There are plenty of those in the AP.

If he's allowed to change stuff it might be a good idea to swap out skill focus disable device.


I don't suppose any of you want to change your vote to Alliah given he's changed to be better at range?

Elton withdrew because he had already gotten into a game, and Alliah was actually withdrawing from the forums in general (it came up in my other game). There's definitely a risk factor, one that I hope has not been discouraging. I do believe most of the candidates could be promising.

Hello all. So I just found the Discussion post and read back to catch myself up, just a page or two, and I noticed some concerns about my character.

So when building a back story I tend to start with a brief to the point story. He lived in relative quiet till his family was destroyed by robots. He flees Numeria and travels to somewhere where there are no robots to get away from the curses of the modern world.

I am aiming to transfer his hatred / fear / paranoia against robots in to the same for all Constructs and, at an appropriate stage, fill up his backstory more. He will grow to think of you all as his friends and maybe some of you as closer to family. The ties he forges now within the group will cause him to draw a line in the sand, where he will aim to rid the world of all Constructs. That will be his driving force for adventuring with the party, that and keeping his new family safe.

I am aiming for the ranged tree of feats and could change out the Skill Focus if you wish. If you all have suggestions for me, please let me know.

As for the appraisal trait bonus that I havent made a skill yet, I took it so that at level 2 I would take it then. I was tight on skill points.

I hope my concerns are not off-putting for you, that's not my intention. You were in the top 3 picks for second character in addition to Nenet. I think it would be more fitting if the constructs haunting Fionnid's background were made from some crazed desert litch or somesuch rather than robots from Numeria. I quite dislike what they did with Numeria in pathfinder, though I might be alone in that in this group (even if I know of a lot of others who also dislike mixing sci-fi and magic)... It's as much as part of the world as Osirion and Qadira.

You haven't picked background skills. One of those skills can go into appraise. That'll solve your problem on where to find the points (the other can go into handle animal for example, freeing you up another point to put wherever you want, or maybe more your FC into HP, 9 HP is kinda low). Moving the point away from disable device will free up another point for something else (knowledge nature or acrobatics perhaps?).

Did you forget to include the +2 bonus to perception for Keen Senses? Are you planning to use multitalented (which classes did you pick? It's not listed on your sheet), if not, maybe switching to one of the the alternate racial trait Blended View (pretty much necessary if you want to use stealth) or Fey Thoughts is a good idea?

Instead of skill focus I would suggest to take the alternate racial trait Dual Mind, though pretty much anything seems better than disable device given that we have two people with trapfinding and a +10 bonus already. If you want to stick with skill focus, perhaps stealth (if you want to scout) or perception (also needed for a scout) or sense motive? Dimdweller is another option that would give you both.

Another thing that could be a good idea is to get a training harness for your companion? On a roll of 1 (or 3 if you are shaken), you won't be able to get it to do what you want.

Did you consider getting another flaw or major drawback in order to get rapid shot right away? There are so many nice archery feats (Even more with path of war allowed as you can pick up Martial Training to give you access to either Solar Wind or Thunderous Gale, which would be quite awesome for you)...

It's a long time away and doesn't affect anything at level 1, but have you considered the prestige class Evangelist (of Erastil)? It'll eventually give you the ability to duplicate your animal companion as well as wisdom to both hit and damage (on top of strength and dexterity) and a few other nice things as well. It'll cost you one level of hunter progression, but that's it as it'll advance your hunter levels starting at level 2. It might be nice to include more about Erastil in your background if you plan on going down this path.

How are the new people joining up with the rest of us? Are we finding them down there? Are we meeting them when we get back up, or what?


Finding them down there would be somewhat anti-climatic, given that they would have had to get through the doors, and then reset all of the traps etc, unless some force chucked them down there to die, and I'm not that evil right now. Most likely they will meet you when you get back up, or they may have received notice that the lottery has gone on and decided to follow up on the tomb expecting that you may have died or wish to share the bounty in return for services rendered (aka, merc work), or some religious or personal reason.

As I mentioned earlier, enlarge person would be great for a large number of people in our party. However, Mage Armor and Color Spray are both great too and they combine wonderfully. Mage Armor allows you to stay protected as you move close enough to use color spray.

I see that you haven't picked up any flaws or drawbacks. You can take up to two of each. It would you allow you to get access to more feats and traits to further customize your character.

I thought about it, but I couldn't find a trait or feat I was really hungry for, and besides, Nenet prefers self-perfection. :)

I can swap out Mage Armor, as Nenet's AC is pretty good already.


Low level casting feats are unfortunately not exciting, however there are a few feats that you have to pick up at low level or you won't be able to get them because there will be better options higher up (metamagic and crafting). In pathfinder that's feats like combat casting and spell focus. Here we have access to a slightly wider array of feats. Spelllcasting prodigy lets you treat your int as 2 higher for DC and bonus spells. That's pretty good.

As for traits, magical lineage and metamagic master are always great, at least if you know of any spells you want to use metamagic for.

You don't have to pick up flaws or drawbacks though...

I, too, am in the wrong country, sadly. Although what I didn't realize is that it's one of the closer major American cities to me (by which I mean a long day's drive), so maybe one year!

Over 50 hp that's immune to weapon AC and with decent AC to boot. We don't have nearly enough splash weapons.I don't think we'll have a chance to get out of this alive... Not that Zariya knows that. Too bad I didn't have more GP to buy splash weapons with and some people didn't even buy.

Vermin Repellent is super cheap, but unfortunately Zariya didn't have any gold left.

Is there water still in the sarcophagus room? This may be where we get creative and see if they follow us through it or not.


It drained out and they fly, but other than that it might be worth a try. You should roll for your readied action.


about cons: Paizo Con I would love to go, but unfortunately I have no vacation time. Same for GenCon.

about guidance: I can assume that you would cast it on whoever needed a boost. In combat or chase/interactive situations, you would have to declare it as an action, since someone might notice you casting spells. It lasts a minute until it's discharged, so you can cast it on multiple people attempting 9 round actions or less.

about the swarm: It only has 26 hp or so, and it is summoned by a spell, so anyone who has spellcraft could see how long the swarm might last.


I thought you said there were two swarms? Does anyone even have spellcraft? Zariya doesn't, so she'll assume it's permanent...

Also for an instant masterwork option on any item that can become masterwork, this spell is available. http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/ultimateMagic/spells/masterworkTransform ation.html

It does cost the normal price of the masterwork item +60 gp if you have an NPC castin, but it is a nice way around waiting a week etc if you commission masterwork equipment.


We already discussed using that spell before. It's on the cleric list, so Zohreh can use it from level 3...

It looks like the Akhentepi's Armor only grants +2 AC, so it's only good on someone with really high dex.
