In case I don't have time to work on this, here is what I have for a human paladin. I went back and forth between the halfling and the human. The halfling seems a little more of a challenge and maybe more interesting--it would be fun to have a wolf or riding dog--but he takes such a big penalty on ability to do damage.
This guy takes the Sacred Shield archetype, which is focused on protecting those around him while making himself a target. Instead of smite evil, he can reduce damage from his target by half to his allies. At 4th level, he can buff his allies' AC with his shield.
LG Human (Sacred Shield) Paladin
Lucas Trevic
Lucas' father Julius was an Ustalavi noble in the county of Virylch. But when the lands were overrun by foul creatures, the family lost their home. They took refuge in Lastwall, where Lucas became a squire to a Paladin of Iomadae.
Professor Lorrimor visited the family in Lastwall, trying to learn more about the horrors that had been unleashed in Virlych and their connection to the Whispering Tyrant. It was then that Lucas saved the professor by diverting a runaway horse that would have trampled him down.
Bereft of any ties to home, Lucas found purpose in the service of Iomadae, and in her emphasis on bravery and valor. Having seen firsthand the horrors of the undead, he felt a special calling to fight against the that unnatural taint.
Lucas had formed a bond with the professor during his trip to Lastwall, and received the summons to the funeral just before he was about to take his oaths as a knight of Lastwall. He was curious about the letter, so he delayed his service to Lastwall, although he had already sworn an oath to Iomadae

here is my Dhamphir kinslayer (inquisitor) I took the traits "Signature moves" and the campaign trait, inspired by greatness
CEASE THIS FOOLERY AT ONCE! YOU MAKE A FOOLISH MISTAKE!
Everything grew very still and quite, as a man made his way through the crowd, he carried a backpack filled with books, and had a walking stick. With him was a lad with blade in hand, eyes darting all around the gathering. The man spoke again.
This is naught but foolishness! You kill an innocent woman! This child has done less wrong than anyone of us! I have watched them, and spoken to the mother on several occasion. To kill these people would be murder!
From the crowd, faceless voices shout.
He is deaths spawn! What can he ever be but evil? and calls of He is a vampire too! BURN HIM! STAKE HIM!
The professor appears to grow angry
SILENCE NOW! Control your fears or they will control you! These two have been living here since you ran them out, and have done you NO HARM! Use your heads! Stop a moment and THINK! I beseech you, ask yourselves, what have they done to deserve this?
As he speaks many torches are lowered, people begin to glance around, questioning there intents, the frenzy begins to die down... but then the clergyman speaks
DEVIL, DEMON AND DEATH LOVER! MISGUIDER AND BEGUILER! Surely you are this foul beasts Father! he jerks up young Draken.
YOU SEEK ONLY TO SAVE YOUR EVIL ILK! YOU PLAN TO TURN US ALL INTO YOUR SLAVES! The man rants longer, as he rants people begin to frown, and voices start to rise again. But then, as if an epiphany comes to him, the strange man speaks again.
I AM PROF. LORRIMOR, The Leading expert on undead and seeker of evil. I work with many of the church to root out evil and plots before they happen, and you sir I find guilty!
He pulls out a silver holy symbol of Iomeade, pressing towards the clergyman, suddenly the priest jerks away, hissing. The Prof presses on, and the man still flees. Suddenly a light as bright as day appears shining directly over the priest and he stumbles and falls, his wide brimmed hat flies from his head and soon the man begins smoldering.
You are the vampire that taints this town, YOU infused that child with the blood of undeath, You would have them kill an innocent woman, would say that child escaped, and blame any deaths, feedings and the like on him. Well you shall torment this town NEVERMORE! Now, GO TO YOUR ENTERNAL DAMNATION!
As it writhed in agony the vampire spit out a curse, and managed the sputterings of a spell, let you be cursed Lorrimar, let you and your family suffer for eternity! If I am to go to damnation, then I will see you in hell! Then suddenly, the gathering of ravens and crows took flight, and attacked Drakens mother, knocking the torchs from the mens hands and alighting the alter. They pecked eyes, and clawed ears, allowing the flame to grow and begin to burn the woman. Then they flew at the professor, only to implode upon coming near him. But the distraction caused the light to vanish, and the holy symbol to be turned away. The vampire morphed into green gas and escaped, leaving behind an echo of laughter as Draken watched In horror as his mother was burned alive, the flames too strong to be stopped. He kneeled, clasping onto a locket his mother had given him only weeks before, a family heirloom, his hands where white from the strain. He etched his mothers face into his mind, and the screams, the screams where forever ingrained into his memory.
Lorrimar collapsed and sighed, well, I am glad those spells works. heh Then turned and saw what Draken was staring at, all he could say was a simple. "oh". Later, he was given the “key to the town” and apologized to directly by every single towns member. Draken only nodded, he didn’t want to forgive them, he wanted to blame them, wanted to get away from this narrowminded and stupid town. That night he snuck away from his "father" and new “family” and caught up with the man that had saved his life.
I want to learn from you. I want to avenge my mother, and make sure nothing like it ever happens again. I want to prove that even people like me, can bring good to the world.
Lorrimar, after a grueling session of questions, accepted. After teaching the child for 5 years, he figured he had learned most he knew to teach for now, and bid him join a church that Lorrimar had ties in. After a long discussion, Draken Accepted, and joined the church to learn to combat undead, and evil, further. He was trained in his deities favored weapon, and taking advantage of his natural agility, taught him how to wield a crossbow, and bow. He learned more about the weakness of the undead, even studied fiends and demons, though to a lesser extent. Eventually, he was sent on his first mission, clean out a small catacomb of any undead and slay the necromancer there, he was accompanied by a paladin and a cleric. He proved his worth that night when he personally slew the necromancer with a crossbow shot to the head. After that he began to study a new weapon, black powder, and firearms anything to help him find, and kill the monster that took his entire world from him. Eventually, a few years after the day he was first left at the church, a letter came. It told of Lorrimars death, and that he sought to gather his friends together for a reading of his will. It mentioned that it was of the utmost important to come. Not more than a day later, Draken put his quest of vengeance on hold. Not more than a day after that, Draken Caladran Lorrimar, set off to the professors home town. A heavy heart and a heavy step followed him the entire way, he was forced to stay away from towns, lest his blood hinder him. He couldn’t help but think, one day, I will be allowed to freely walk where I please, I will prove to the world that a dhamphir can be… good. Finally he reached the town where the man that saved his life would be buried, the man he looked up to, idolized, a man he called father. His locket still hanging on his chest..
he believes that not all undead are evil, but that those that are good should be assayed like gold in the furnace. While he pretends to not care, he truly seeks to be accepted in most societies and works towards the goal of proving that not all of his bloodline are evil, though he can have bouts of rage where he slays any and all related to undead and or evil, he usually seeks to stay his hand if possible, as the killings, whilst just and for the better of others, are often seen as a monster sating his bloodlust.

Being roped in to setting up Christmas decorations this afternoon.
Sadly, that means I won't be able to have either concept up by this evening. (Both are built and I know the basics of their back stories, but need time to flesh 'eh out and write them down)
However, there are some good subs already, so I totally understand if you don't want to wait.

Spooky GM |

Alright, so the deadline thing. How much longer do people need? It hasn't been a week yet, and I was mostly closing due to the dip in post rate; I figured the thread had been seen by all the potential takers and that things would slow to a crawl for a few days for nothing. So, to anyone whose application isn't done, let me know how much longer you think it'd take and we'll go from there.
Arcane:
-Dr. Stefan Von Herzog, Human Wizard (Necromancer)
-Maia Silndra Rose, Aasimar Wizard
-Valissa, Aasimar Summoner (Master Summoner, Void Caller)
Divine:
-Evan Goodridge, Human Cleric of Shelyn
-Ileana Cercel, Changeling Oracle (Possessed)
-Narah an'Ras, Sylph Cleric of Calistria
-Sana, Aasimar Human Oracle of Yog-Sothoth (Dual-Cursed)
Martial:
-Drusilla of the Fangwood, Changeling Bloodrager (Greenrager)
-Merick Renarin, Human Warpriest of Pharasma
-Ulam Bone-Cracker, Orc Ranger (Infiltrator)
-Zahur al'Rani, Human Monk (Hungry Ghost)
Skill:
-Draken, Dhampir Inquisitor (Kinslayer)
-Kith Jeova, Human Bard

-Vivian Debeth, Human Rogue

I just noticed you permit two different applications. Well, I do have a second character prepared and ready to go.
Menadra Miller LG female human (varisian) paladin of Falayna
The character is native to Ustalav, Varisian, though she has one Ulfen grandfather. The name may sound a bit... normal, but she's actually a miller's daughter.
Main account Feuerrabe.
The other character of mine is Narah an'Aras, which is more important to me than this one, in case you like both.

ah, ive never played PBP before so ill be honest when i say i dont really get whats going on here, i gm a campain in person with some friends but none of them like to GM and i thought maybe the forums would be a nice opertunity to play as its easyer to get people here i assume. i am aware of the opening premmis of carrion crown, once was part of a campain that never got off the ground so ill work that into the story below
i submit then for your approval Gramlag Rockfist, dwarven fighter (no archytypes but i will be dual wielding heavy shields which is both very doable and while is below the average damage for a normal dual wield build it has higher than average defence so it evens out quite well)
Gramlag born and raised in a dwarven mine like many of his kind, but right from birth he was driven to join the forces that defended the mines from the dark creatures that live in the even deeper tunnels their mines connect too. his father was one, his father before that and his father before that.
dwarves are acustomed to fighting in narrow spaces so many of their kind fought with short weapons and large shield and fought well in blocks and one on one. Gramlags clan had a very unique fighting style though not seen elsewhere in the world, they trained in the standard dwarven style of course but they also trained a formation called the ogres jaw. this formation had the entire first rank forgo weapons and actualy carry in 2 shields to ensure maximum protection and the following 3 ranks wielded spears and pikes normally unwieldly in the narow tunnels now to great effect.
gramlag spent many years training and learning the ways of his people with a very speacial intrest in the shield ranks. when he came of age like many young people he decided to set out into the world to get a perspective of how his people fit in the grand scheme and he kissed his mother goodbye and shook his fathers hand, onto the roads. he made money for food and the various inns he stayed at by selling his servies as a traveling body guard for merchants and travelers. one such man he met was the proffessor and they spent only a short time together but became very fast friends, the proffesser being incredibly interested in the the fighting style Gramlag's clan had developed and gramlag happy to discuss it as he found many surface dwellers mocked him for the style only to be knocked on their backs after one too many snide remarks.
their time together was very precious to gramlag and they wrote to each other often, many letters being redirected many times to eventually find their recipiant due to the adventourious natures of both people involed. it was with a sad heart that gramlag recieved the notice of the proffessors death and goes now to attend the funeral of a dear friend
edit: tis is hastily run up as you said before your looking to clsoe submissions, i can certainly flesh it out more at your request. would you need a character sheet too? that would take me a bit more time

Narah |

ive never filled one out online, where should i fill that out for you? there a website i need to go to or is there someplace on paizo here i can do that for you?
Hrmmm... many of us use software that generate output. But that's a little too late for that now.
It may be helpful to use an online char sheet such as this:
https://drive.google.com/previewtemplate?id=0AjfaolOnvs6gdEZNenNDdVBTSDBPME 04S1JranRSSEE&mode=public&ddrp=1#
It's a template for Google Docs. Never used it... I've seen nicer looking online sheets before, but I don't know where to find them.
However. Important stuff:
In this forum you're supposed to create alias for the character you wish to use and then use that alias' profile page to dump your stats, story and whatnot. This post was made by such an character alias, for example - I am Feuerrabe, Narah is my character. My stats are listed in my profile page, which you can reach by clicking my name. (You will first see a list of my post, but can get to my profile from there.)
To do that:
- Right click "My Account" in the top and open it in a new tab or window, so you don't loose this one.
- You might be asked to sign in again. After that find the section "Messageboard aliases" and click "Create new"
- Create an alias with the name of your character.
- Choose an icon for your character. The "Pathfinder Society" stuff is irrelevant.
- After you click "submit" you get back to your account page. Click the name of your new alias there. You're now "in" your alias.
- If the profile tab isn't selected click it.
- You can now create a profile there.
If you need your stats urgently I'd start by just writing down the original stuff and your background there. I.e. class, race, attributes, skill ranks, equipment, leftover money must be given, the rest derives from there....
I hope that was understandable?

@ Gramlag,
I'm also new to PBP and so I've been lurking at about 5 or 6 other PBPs the last few days to get a better handle on the one I just started playing in. It's helped quite a bit. I suggest browsing some of the other PBPs to see what it's like while you await to see if your PC is able to join this Carrion Crown game.

Narah |

Hope you don't have all too unrealistic hopes... forum games are slow. You post something and get to post again a few days later. And it is not uncommon for a game to just halt after a couple of months... I am around for more than a year, participated in six games in the paizo forums and all have come to a halt by now (though two are officially still running) and I have never gained a level.
If you're inclined to do the game master the players will swarm at you. If not... you better enjoy creating characters at least as much as playing them. (I know I do - especially when a good story pops into my mind and just needs to be written down.) ^^
On a side not:
I just noticed that my sheet lists "combat expertise" as feat. That's supposed to be "combat casting", of course. Never noticed that mistake.
EDIT: WAIT! It's actually supposed to be combat expertise. It's a prerequisit for "improved trip", which makes a certain degree of sense, because my main weapon is my deity's holy weapon, a whip. In retrospect I think that was one of the reasons why I gave her Int 14 in the fist place (apart from enjoying skill points and getting a bonus on int).

MannyGoblin |

If you do plan on running a game, there are things you can do to speed things up,
Roll all Initiative and perhaps even Perception rolls yourself.
Do a strict 'Post in this amount of time or get botted' rule, especially in combat. Combat is one of the bigger drains on time.
First time Gamemaster? Stick to core until you get a good handle on things. Some modules to have other classes(Godsmouth Heresy is an example) but it should be workable.
Start small. A one-shot adventure like Godsmouth allows you to get experiance while not committing to an AP.
If you do want to try an AP, try Runelords since it is very straight forwards with goblin hunting and a dungeon-crawl. At first, plan on just doing the first book and see how things go before starting the next.
Also be sure to tell others if you will be away from DMing for a while and ask that they return the favor. Perhaps the #1 no-no is the DM just vanishing.

Narah |

Also be sure to tell others if you will be away from DMing for a while and ask that they return the favor. Perhaps the #1 no-no is the DM just vanishing.
Indeed. One might be tempted to say: "That's kinda lame" if a GM comes around and says: "I'm not in the mood anymore, I will focus on my other games." but it's still a billion times better than a GM just vanishing from a well running game. And it is at least honest. I have experienced both.

Spooky GM |

My internet was having some serious problems right around closing time last night, so I decided to just nap it off. Nap turned into actual sleep. Still haven't heard back from Tilnar, who seems to be the only straggler remaining, so here's how this'll work: recruitment will end at 6 PM EST today and I'll make my selections shortly thereafter. Good luck everyone.

Tilnar |

Apologies -- spent yesterday unravelling garland and trees, didn't see the question. After spending today with inlaws, I'm thinking I can't possibly have the characters up today.
I'll bow out rather than hold up the process since I'd probably need 'til about 10pm tomorrow to get them done. [Sadly, work's done the oppoiste of slowing down leading into the holidays, so the usual approach of working on things over lunch and on breaks isn't likely to happen...]
Good luck everyone -- I'll finish the characters and store 'em just for archives or if someone drops out, I guess. :)

Joshua Hirtz |

Unfortunately I did not spend the time I had hoped to flushing out my character's back story so I will go ahead and withdraw from the running, although I seemed to be missing from the list as it was.
Good luck to everyone and enjoy the game.

Spooky GM |

No harm in closing up twenty minutes early, I guess. Mostly because I could use a nap. The party will be as follows:
Drusila of the Fangwood, Changeling Bloodrager (Greenrager)
Ileana Cercel, Changeling Oracle (Possessed)
Kith Jeova, Human Bard
Maryska Lysenko, Human Inquisitor of Pharasma (Infiltrator)
Dr. Stefan Von Herzog, Human Wizard (Necromancer)
Everyone chosen, report to the discussion and gameplay threads. Everyone who wasn't, good luck in future Carrion Crown recruitments.

Narrater |

I am reopening recruitment for spooky's carrion crown game due to some attrition. I have taken over GMing duties for Spooky due to some personal issues he had that prevented him from continuing the game. I am using his character creation and posting rules and for ease of reference will repost them below. We haven't moved that far along in the story so I plan to simply switch those selected out with those who left so your characters are aware of everything that transpired up to this point so reading up on the groups progress thus far would be useful. We have two openings I am currently looking to fill the group consists of a Changeling Oracle, Changeling Bloodrager and a Human Bard. I am trying for a slow build up where interacting with the towns folk will play an important part in moving the game along so if you are more into hack and slash this may not work for you. The others in the group will be looking over submissions and will have a lot of say in who is picked. Look forward to seeing your submissions.
-1st level
-20 point buy
-All official Paizo classes except for Gunslinger, and all archetypes except for Synthesist Summoner.
--Occult Adventures Playtest material is allowed, but know the risks of playing a class that may get heavily errata'd in July (we'll deal with it when we get there) and which currently has no equipment or feat support.
-All Core races, as well as Aasimar, Changeling, Dhampir, and Tiefling are allowed without question. Drow, Goblin, Hobgoblin, and Svirfneblin are banned. All other Featured and Uncommon races are allowed so long as you can make it work. As the player's guide states though, Ustalav is not a trusting or friendly place, so being visibly weird is not to your benefit.
-Two traits, one of which must come from the Carrion Crown Player's Guide. Your campaign trait is your connection to the Professor (read the guide in full to understand what's going on/expected of you), and thus should be worked into your backstory in some way.
-Average starting gold for your class
-No evil characters allowed
-Material from any official Paizo material is allowed.
-Third party material is banned.
-I am open to the refluffing or houseruling of matters, so feel free to ask.
-A backstory (preferably of several or more paragraphs), as well as a general idea of their personality, motivation, etc.
-A general rundown of your character, play-wise. What they can do is the meat of it, but if you're planning on multiclassing or prestige classing them, let me know that bit too. That way I have an idea of what we're getting into, balance-wise.

Background: Spugnoir was left on the doorstep of an orphanage in Ustalav as many children have been when they are unwanted by their parents. Taken in, he was fed and clothed but not given any real love and so became a sullen child, and thus was passed over by prospective parents and seemed destined to end up on the streets when he came of
age.
However, he was esentially bought by an unethical professor who wanted a lab assistant and brought to the university and treated little more than a well trained slave. Spugnoir cleaned and assisted, working long hours for a bed and food and basic training on how to help in a lab. This continued until Professer Lorrimor exposed the otherprofessor's necromatic experiments and had him arrested. Lorrimor took an interest in Spugnoir and arranged for him to become an actual student at the university so he could get a proper education.
Description: Spugnoir is a rather neatly-dressed man, he takes effort in maintaining his apperance and keeps his black hair short and his clothing(the non workroom variety) neat. His work attire is stained with alchemetical substances but is well maintained and his equipment is spotless as much as it can be.
RP: The professer gave me a gift, life. I had very little to be thankful for and my time under that professor's thumb was hardly better than I had at the orphanage, at least I could go out and play there. I will strive to learn as much as I can within the boundaries of decency and help those who were as unfortunate as I was.
