Hey ya'll here's my submission Dharatatak Goblin Magus in service of the King's Dark Lanterns. He has awesome scouting capacities but can't really contribute to combat all that much due to being super squishy.
I also started writing a neat cinematic background but don't have the time currently to finish it up.
As a child of the slums of Sharn, Dharatatak’s youth was characterized by violence and the everyday struggle for survival. The first instinct you learned in this setting as a Goblin was to run and hide. However his keen wit and fast reflexes helped him to maneuver this dangerous terrain. A latent talent for manipulating magic to do his bidding helped the young Goblin in rising above the muck of lower Dura and establishing a career as a con artist. However as it tends to go for those who cannot get enough Dharatatak risked too much in a heist and ended up in prison. Awaiting a quick sentence on a noose Dharatatak found himself approached by an Agent of the Citadel offering a deal he could not refuse. The Dark Lanterns were seeking able men for a dangerous recognizance missions in Droaam and a Goblin seemed inconspicuous. After a short briefing Dharatatak was enlisted and sent off to Droaam, still in chains but an Agent of the Citadel none the less. When he returned to Wroat two months later and with detailed information on Droaam troop movements Dhartatak received a badge of office and was trained at the Citadel for almost a year to acquire the status of a full-fledged agent. While the Goblin already knew the ins and outs of thievery he received special training to better use magic both to harm and to obscure. His next mission lead him to Darguun where he was to aquire detailed information on the power struggle going on between two major Clans and perhaps help to tip the scales in favor of the Razektu. Coming to Darguun for the first time was quite the experience for Dhratatak. While he had heard much talk of the Goblin Empire in lower Durra he had never cared for matters of politics or developed a sense of pride in Goblinkind. While goblins were respected as specialists in Darguun it was still the Hobgoblins who commanded over them and the life of a mouthy Goblin was worth just as little in lower Dura. With his mission almost completed Dhratatak could not resist the temptation of acquiring a souvenir. Havkalaz a warlord of the Ratzatak whom he had been serving owned a special blade of black metal which he kept in a prized vitrine within his private chambers. Ever since he had first laid eyes on it Dhratatak had wanted it for his own. But the deed did not go unnoticed and soon Dhratatak had Silent Wolves on his heels who were hustling him through the outlands of Darguun. Somehow Dhartatatk managed to make his way out of Darguun in the belly of a ship; however once he was discovered there he was chucked overboard by the crew. After all a Goblin aboard is bound to bring bad luck! Unable to swim he was lucky enough to catch a piece of driftwood. When finally washed ashore weeks later, half dead, the Goblin special agent found himself on a remote island somewhere in the Lhazaar principalities. With no traveling papers or letters of credit to his name returning to Wroat was going to be quite the task. What made matters worse, there was a constant Goblinoid voice in his head babbling on and on about the greatness of the Goblin Empire. And Dharatatk has slowly started to realize that it has something to do with his new shiny black blade.
It was a humid summer night in Ironwork’s mansion. Only the Dwarven families soft snores could be heard when all of a sudden there was a crash. Metallic barks could be heard in the night and Berbas head of the house stepped into the hallway his massive crossbow loaded. There in a corner of the room a small spindly figure clad in dark leathers was being hassled by his newly purchased wardogs. A sense of pride fulfilled the Dwarf as he yelled: “BRUNHILDE! CALL THE WATCH!”
---
The badly battered form of a small creature with large ears hung limply at the wall as Major Stort stepped into the cell. A lesser man might have turned back at the smell but he’d seen the battlefields of the last war for many years and nothing would ever shake him easily.
“Da…ar…at” the man attempted to pronounce.
“DRA-TA-TAK. It’s not that hard. Last thing you can do for me is to pronounce my name right on my execution.” the limp form replied with vigor as it raised its head beady red eyes eying the Major in the gloom of the cell
“I’m afraid that will have to wait. Your country, BRELAND needs you Dra-ta-tak!”
---
Dharatatak is a greedy bugger. Striving for material gain and status is what motivates him. He took great pride in his work as a crook but now is equally proud of his status as a Dark Lantern. While nominally he serves Breland, and Dharatatak is of the opinion that it's a better place than most, ultimately he serves himself. While there is no place for cruelty and malice in his soul Dharatatak is ruthless when it comes to achieving his objectives. He knows that those who do not seize opportunity when it presents itself get stepped on who do. Having grown up in lower Dura he has learned that for a Goblin to achieve anything in life being deferential to everyone is a necessity and being a smart little Goblin he has learned how to play nice around the big folk. Dharatatak possesses good manners and a command of language that denies his humble upbringing. Around big folk he will usually let them speak first but will speak his mind clearly and enjoys getting into arguments as he has learned persistence pays off.
Dharatatak is of average size for a goblin. Meaning a bit taller than a Halfling or Gnome, but still small even by Dwarven standards. He is spindly but moves with the grace and speed of a cheetah. His skin has the standard ruddish green brown tone typical of Goblins and his hair is an unkempt mop of scroungy black. His truly defining feature is a set of especially long ears that hang from his large head as do those of a dog. Dhratatak's garb is guided by necessity. He tends to wear dark tones under which he hides a shirt of fine mithril, a gift he received as part of his promotion into the ranks of the Dark Lanterns.

DoubleGold again, going to roll for 2nd level HP, now that I know for sure I'm going to go Druid. Why Druid? Other than just having fun with it, that fact that I had high rolls meant that I wanted to have a challenge in some way. I could have either rerolled, or pick a class that would propose somewhat of a challenge to me. Why would a Druid propose a challenge to me? Uses divine magic instead of Arcana, which I'm not use to, but Divine Magic has healing powers, and very few people go for healing classes, what not a better way to learn than with these rolls. Cannot wear metal armor. This one here proposes a huge challenge to me, I'm not as tanky as a Paladin and very limited to what I can wear even when I compare myself to the Cleric, and most of the armor I like is metal, I cannot have mithril ever which means armor check penalty for me or lower AC by wearing lighter armor. Weapons are limited, so I have to be careful how I fight, I'm not proficient with simple weapons, but certain weapons which proposes a challenge, or take a feat that gives me proficiency with a weapon I really want, but still limited on what I can use. The beast shape is fun, but the challenge is that it is limited has to be used wisely. Sometimes beast shape isn't always for combat, but for sneaking into places. If a random crow, dog, cat passes by, who is going to think anything of it, unless they are thinking outside the box and they really think Druid.

Orsal Hort |

Please find Captain Orsal Hort behind the avatar. His game mechanics are mostly complete. There's a picture of him for character direction, too.
His background as a swaggering half-orc pirate is still in my head. He is as unsuccessful in captaining as Captain Jack Sparrow and replaces Jack's drunkenness with the presence of Darth Vader.

Chierak of the Ghaal'dar |

"Lots of training, golin'dar, lots of training. One has to be strong to survive on the borderlands between Ghaal'dar and Dhakaani territory, otherwise you'll end under someone's sword before your 10th winter has passed. Chierak gives the goblin a stern look. "On a more serious matter though, did you forget the Shadow's teaching? THOU SHALT NOT BE METAGAMEY IN-CHARACTER!"
Sorry, couldn't resist :)

Captain Orsal Hort is fairly done. I may do some tweaking around the edges until recruitment closes.
cheers

Illyri |

Are we allowed to take a drawback for an additional trait?
Also, one of the changeling racial features, making Linguistics and Disguise class skills, is useless to me as I already have the two skills as class skills, worth 2 RP. Would you allow me to replace those with the Static Feat - Quick Change, a 2RP racial trait? (It would allow me to change as a move action) Or alternatively change as a standard action, or a different 2 RP ability, like a +2 to a skill, or make 2 other skills class skills?
My reasoning here is that most Pathfinder races have a multitude of racial trait options.

DM Jelani |

Lets see if the dice want me to submit something.
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 6) = 16=15
4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 1, 3) = 11=10
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 5, 6) = 19=17
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 1) = 8=7
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 2, 4) = 13=10
4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 5, 3) = 15=14
Meh. Very meh. Taking my reroll.
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 2, 5) = 14=13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 2, 5) = 13=12
4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 6, 6) = 21=18
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 1, 5) = 15=14
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 4, 3) = 16=13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 5, 4) = 16=13
1d3 ⇒ 2
Now that is nice. I can definitely work with that. I want to play an orc scarred witch doctor from the Jaasakar clan of the Ghaash'kala. He is a worshipper of Kalol Shash, but he took the branding to a new level, granting himself magical powers. When his tribesmen saw his warped wooden mask, they assumed he was consorting with fiends, and tried to kill him. He fled the Wastes, heading east while working as a mercenary. His goal was to get as far away from the Wastes as possible, so he ended up all the way in Lhazzaar. It might take me a day or two to get the character up and write out a more detailed version of the backstory.

Sorry folks, it has been a hectic week. Time permitting, I will be posting my decisions tonight, then the chosen can move on to the Discussion thread and hopefully get this campaign off the ground by the weekend.
I would like to thank everybody for their character submissions, their questions, and the excitement for the game. If I lose any players to character death, or lack of interest, or other circumstances, this recruitment thread will be the first place I check.
Tome of Battle is a bit extreme if only one person is a character from that book, Tome of Magic I like very much, as truename magic and binders especially fits in with creatures like the Lords of Dust.
Illyri you may take a drawback if you wish, and I will permit those substituted racials.

Illyri |

Excellent. Thanks for that.
I changed by build dramatically, so you might want to look it over again. I added the burglar and knife master archetypes, switched to TWF daggers rather than using a rapier, and then took Unlearned drawback and the Trap Finder trait so I can still disarm magical traps (as I imagine in a treasure hunting game there will be plenty of them). Also changed the gear to compensate.

Cael Vysorin |

Ok, added backstory, made a note about his personality, and I think I've fixed any problems with his stats that were there. Made the Warforged race using Hero Forge's options according to the conversion site, so if something looks wrong, just let me know.
Besides that, I think Eldrak is ready to roll!

Jubal Breakbottle |

"Avast me'hearties!" Captain Orsal Hort is complete! Half-orc buccaneer local to the Principalities thirsts for adventure!

I have made my decisions for the game. The following characters shall be our starting party:
Roster:
Five open submissions, with one party role being filled by a real-life friend. I want to thank everybody for submitting characters. There were a lot of really great concepts and ideas. I will continue to keep this recruitment active when looking for new, additional, or replacement players.

Resuce |

![]() |

I am opening back up the recruitment to replace one player we have lost. Anybody who has previously submitted a character is welcome to repost them.
For any new submissions, please check the first page for how to roll up your character and guidelines. Quick rules: Level is 1d3, Stats are 4d6 drop the lowest.
If you have any questions, please PM me. Looking to choose in the next day or so while the party is in a decent position to accept a new character.

Bill Lumberg |
I have been following this game and might as well pitch a submission. I assume that slayers from the APG are acceptable, since you wrote that anything that exists in DnD exists in Eberron.
Level
1d3 ⇒ 2
Stats
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 3, 1) = 10
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 4) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 5, 1) = 10
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 4, 1) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 5, 2) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 2, 6) = 12
Edit:
Wow, that is a bad set of rolls. I will try the option for a second attempt.
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 1, 1) = 8
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 4, 2) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 1, 2) = 6
4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 3, 3) = 10
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 2, 1) = 7
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 1) = 7
Edit again:
Yeah...I think I will just continue to follow the game as a spectator.
Have fun!

Tenro |

if this is open...?
1d3 ⇒ 3
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 6, 5) = 21
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 1) = 8
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 2, 4) = 12
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 2, 2) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 1, 2) = 6
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 1, 6) = 15
woo what an odd set of rolls. I am still interested, if there is a space open. I will hold off on creating something in case the space isnt open.
