Guided by Khellek's expert advice, Apollyanna wallops one of the puissant pooches, felling it as Lannior's arrow sinks into its haunch. Even with Khellek's help, Chock isn't quite able to defeat his own hound, but as it makes a final leap, smashing Apollyanna to the ground, its wounds catch up with it, and it sinks to the ground atop her.
