Viviana Masters |
Viviana sprints toward Caulky (using an Acrobatics check if appropriate) with her increased movement, before lashing out with her palm into the hinge of Caulky's jaw.
Attack: 1d20 + 13 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 13 + 1 = 28
Damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Caulky needs to make a DC 18 Fort save or she falls unconscious for 1d6 rounds.
GM Tyranius |
Jack roars at the nearest buccaneer. The buccaneer throws his hands in the air at Jack and takes a step back. It only takes the buccaneer a moment before he is back in the brawl with a different opponent though.
Viviana hurls herself across the table at Chaulky and knocks the woman unconscious in a single blow to the neck.
Fort save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Charles dives across the table at the same time and tackles the seemingly unconscious cabin girl. Quickly the group drags her out the front door and out of sight.
Combat Over
GM Tyranius |
What do you wish to do with her?
GM Tyranius |
Dragging a quickly restrained Chaulky out the door she begins to squirm on the way out. Lemme go! You have some balls fer comin' here. Captain Harrigan has been lookin' fer you!
GM Tyranius |
Because I offer no loyalty to Harrigan such as you. You let me live and I will join yer crew. Harrigan is only staying here until the Free Captain's Regatta anyways.
Charles Beecroft |
Charles eyes Caulky warily.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22.
"We are now recognised Free Captains in our own right. If you are so eager to join us, why did you just try to run away? Also, what is this Regatta that you speak of?"
GM Tyranius |
I was running away to try and get in favor with Harrigan is all.
She squirms a bit more and finally relaxes. The Regatta is a race they do every year where you Free Cap'ns can get you fortune and fame. This year they are offering lordship of an island and a seat on the Pirate Council
Jack Handsome |
"Well it sounds like a great chance to show what we are worth... and gain our island.... let me tell you.... this sounds great. I mean my wive has an island... and I will do my duties gladly... but to earn your own.. that is diffrent!"
Charles Beecroft |
Charles nods.
"Yes, it would be good to have our own island... although I am sure that there will be a catch..."
He then looks thoughtfully at Caulky, before turning back to the others.
"What do you think? Should we add her to the crew?"
GM Tyranius |
I don't know much else about it. I don't even know where they are holding it this year. Harrigan just brought us here meaning it could be a few days out or it could be a few weeks to a few months out.
Aishe Kaleja |
Aishe shakes her head. "No, but if we see any sign that Harrigan has found out we are here, we'll know where to go looking, and whose tongue to cut out of her pretty little head."
Intimidate (Take 10): 10 + 13 = 23
GM Tyranius |
Chaulky's eyes go wide. I wouldn't dream of it. She shakes her head quickly from side to side.
GM Tyranius |
So you are going to release me now then?
GM Tyranius |
Cutting the bonds Caulky looks about hesitantly as she takes off in a run.
Looking back it seems that the festivities in the tavern are now over as the brawl continues. A buccaneer crashes through the door causing splinters to rain across the hard path. He now seems to be unconscious.
Looking through the open door it now looks as if every piece of furniture is now broken and being used as a weapon of some sorts.
Returning to your rooms it looks as if a messenger has dropped off a sealed letter for each of you.
Upon opening the letter it seems that a Tessa Fairwind, the Mistress of the city of Quent on Motaku Isle, has invited you to dinner at her townhouse in Port Peril the following evening.
Tiered Knowledge Check
the sloop-of-war Luck of the Draw and one of the most
powerful and popular pirate lords on the Pirate Council
of the Shackles.
Captains, or by taking it from Kerdak Bonefist herself.
Aishe Kaleja |
Knowledge (Local, World Traveler): 1d20 + 6 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 3 = 23
"Interesting. Captain Fairwind is perhaps the most powerful and popular pirate lord on the Pirate Council of the Shackles. Rumor has it that she's next in line for the Hurricane Crown, whether she's elected or has to take it by force. I doubt she sees us as a threat, as new Free Captains. We should try to be courteous to her; she could be a powerful enemy."
Jack Handsome |
Looking at Charles Jack shrugs.
"Besmaras faith is very simple to that. Take all you can get."
And suddenly his face splits into a grin.
"Well it is an arranged marriage, and she will get my loyality. But my love she is not."
GM Tyranius |
You have the whole day until dinner to yourselves for shopping, ect. Just let me know when you are ready to go to the dinner.
Aishe Kaleja |
We have 2384gp right now in loose coins (counting the 100PP from the card game), as well as the other jewelry, etc., worth 4480gp, and 3 points of plunder. We can also take some time to sell any of Somia's equipment we don't want to keep. Right off-hand, I am assuming we want to keep the vindictive harpoon and the ring of swimming; if we sell the rest, we'll have an additional 1502gp readily available. If there's any other gear we want to sell off, that's an option, too.
GM Tyranius |
I will advance tomorrow morning. That should be enough time for purchases. You can still make them a little afterwards as I know this is a bit harder with PbP
GM Tyranius |
The following evening you arrive at Tessa’s townhouse, her retainers show them into a windowed dining hall with a view overlooking Port Peril’s harbor.
A young red haired woman in piratical garb sits at a dining table filled with food. Her hair is tied back in a long single ponytail that wraps over her shoulder.
Welcome. I am Tessa Fairwind. I just wanted to congratulate you on being named Free Captains yesterday. As plates are gathered and brought forth she looks to you. So what do you know of the current political situation in the Shackles?
Jack Handsome |
GI: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21 Some infos about her
"Well met mylady. It was quite gracious to offer your invitation to such unimportant people as we are.
Well through luck and determination we got as a ship and a crew and now the letter of marque. What we lack is background information about this areas where we sail. We do have some excellent and knowledgeable crewmembers, but what we lack at the moment is political savy."
GM Tyranius |
Yes, You hear correctly. Kerdak Bonefist's hold over the fractious pirate lords is perhaps not as strong as it might appear. I may be next in line but I am not too keen on becoming the next Hurricane King quite yet.
Nevertheless Bonefist's days are likely numbered and now is the time to start gathering allies. You see there have been whispers about. Whispers of Cheliax's designs on the Shakles. Cheliax's hatred for the isles is nothing new of course but lately there has been a lot of word on an actual invasion, which if successful could result in the Shackles being annexed into the Empire which would be bad for all of us, regardless of who wears the crown. I am convinced that there is some truth behind these rumors but I require solid prof to put before the Hurricane King and the Pirate Council to force them to take a united action.
However I cannot investigate these rumors myself as I am too well known for such subtle work and I need to remain in Port Peril to maintain my influence over certain factions within the council. This is where I am hoping that you come in handy. As resourceful newcomers, independent of any pirate lord, you have the best chances of uncovering the information as you are free agents.
Join my fleet, you will be left to your own devices still as your alliance will be kept secret. Perhaps one day you will have prominent roles on the Council or even gain the Hurricane Crown for yourselves.
She says with a smile.
So what say you?
Aishe Kaleja |
Aishe smiles, "Considering what you're asking us to do, I will be blunt: what benefit will there be for us to join your fleet, and what will our duties to you be after this task has ended?"
GM Tyranius |
Not spies. Allies. That will also be your benefit my dear. Like I said perhaps in the future you will have prominent roles on the Council or even gain the Hurricane Crown for yourselves.
but right now if these rumors are true could ruin us all, yourselves included.
Aishe Kaleja |
Aishe sighs and nods. "As you say, a Chelaxian presence in the Shackles would indeed be...bad for business." She looks to the others, then back to the red-haired pirate. "Very well. We will perform the task you have set before us. If you know anything more than you have disclosed already, tell us, and we will do our utmost to follow the rumors to their source."
GM Tyranius |
“I am convinced that Cheliax has spies and informants working in the Shackles, and I can think of only two places that might have some knowledge of these traitorous informers in our midst. The first is the House of Stolen Kisses in Quent, a temple of Calistria and one of the best information brokerages in the Shackles. Use this note to obtain an audience with the temple’s high priestess, Dindreann.
“The second is the Temple of the Hidden Name, a secret temple of Norgorber said to operate in the town of Beachcomber on Bag Island. If anyone knows of these spies, it would be the followers of the Reaper of Reputation. I have no contacts with the priests of that temple, so I hope you can convince them to reveal what they know.”
Tessa then unfurls several beautifully drawn, highly detailed nautical charts of the Shackles and points out the locations of Quent and Beachcomber to the group on the charts.
Here and Here are the areas I was speaking of As she rolls the maps back up placing them in a case.
She gives the charts to the Jack, presenting them in an expertly crafted watertight case.
Also fly this from your masthead. It will signal your allegiance to me[/b] She says as she hands forth a pennant to Charles.
Fly true and I hope that I am wrong. This is a special chart. take good care of it.
representations of the Shackles’ major islands and the sea
lanes between them. The detailed markings on these charts
grant a +2 circumstance bonus on Profession (sailor) or
Survival checks to navigate within the Shackles.
In addition, a multitude of wrinkles, stains, and blemishes
mar the charts’ surfaces. Anyone meticulously studying
the charts notices that these markings shift over time. The
creases, smudges, and blotches on the map represent real
weather conditions (such as clouds, rain, and wind) in the
region, allowing an informed observer to determine the
current weather patterns over the islands of the Shackles. The
charts grant a +4 competence bonus on Survival checks made
to predict future weather conditions and a +2 competence
bonus on Survival checks to gain a bonus on Fortitude saves
against severe weather.
Finally, the pilot of a wind-propelled ship can make a DC 20
Profession (sailor) check to plot a course within the Shackles
using the charts. If the check is successful, the charts grant
the ship a +10% enhancement bonus to its waterborne speed
as long as it follows the plotted course.
All of the charts’ benefits only apply within the geographic
region of the Shackles. GMs with access to the Pathfinder
Campaign Setting: Skull & Shackles Map Folio might use the
elaborate player map of the Shackles included therein to
represent this item.
Aishe Kaleja |
"Thank you for the information, Captain Fairwind. We will do what we can to root out this information."
To the others, she says with a wink, "I don't know about the rest of you, but I think we're due for a little trip to Quent."
GM Tyranius |
Thanks. You should set out at once as if we do indeed have a spy within our midst then it will spell doom for the Shackles.
After you gather your crew and set forth I will need a Dc 18 Profession Sailor or Survival to reach Quent. If fail you get lost and lose a few days getting back on track.
GM Tyranius |
gathering the crew the Besmara's Fortune sets out to investigate the lively seaport of Quent.
With Aishe's guidance they are able to stay on schedule as she knows every moment will count if there is indeed a spy in the midst. The seapot lies on the northern coast of Motaku Isle. Upon being received at port you make your way to the House of Stolen Kisses as explained by Tessa. Standing outside the building though is a whole different story. She did say that it was a Temple of Calistria but not that it also served as a Brothel. An young acolyte greets you at the door. What can I help you with today. She says with a sultry accent.[/b]
Aishe Kaleja |
Aishe smiles at the acolyte as she hands over the note provided by Captain Fairwind. "We would like to have an audience with Dindreann. I'm sure she's expecting us; if you'd just show us the way?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (19) + 14 = 33
GM Tyranius |
Of Course Scantily clad acolytes escort you through sensually decorated corridors to the chamber of the high priestess, Dindreann.
Dindreann pleasantly greets you offering comfortable seating and stimulating refreshments.
So what services might I render to associates of my dearest friend Tessa?
Jack Handsome |
Aren´t they always brothels?
"Good morning lovely lady. What you can do, apart gracing us with your presence? Well for a start we seek an answer, and I am sure a woman with your talents and your fellowship to aid in the .. contemplentation of our question can help us find it. We seek who could... sell us out to the devilsasskisser?"
