"And there are many more where those came from," Marnir says. He begins to tell the tale of the time the Dragon's Widow encountered a Chelish customs vessel off Cape Kraken. The northmen lured the Chelish sailors close, feigning compliance with the customs inspection, then boarded and captured the bigger ship, adding it's collected tithes to their growing treasure hoard.

"Are you healed fully Jack, the hour has come that I may once again tend your wound?......and have you a weapon or armor, we found some leathers in the bilge area?"

Jack is grateful for the healing. "Aye, bloody good you and yer crew are here!" He mutters. "Bloody Quarne wanted to saw it off there an then!"
He's referring to Habbly Quarne, the “Stitchman” ship’s surgeon and carpenter.
Jack has a cutlass from somewhere, but accepts the leather armor happily.
No need to make a Diplomacy roll with Rosie Cusswell, giving her the fiddle gets her on your side immediately.

Barnabus II |

"Aye Jack, though I have no formal training in the healing skill, I have the hex an it heals whether I know the look of it or not."
Barnabus shrugs...
"Though I respect those with knowledge and skill that I do not myself have."
"Perhaps I should see about the surgeon."

And his name is Crimson Cogward, I finally got it right! No wonder he was so constantly pissed off.

Kung drinks his rum ration, a bit gingerly, and then looks for a game of chance to entertain himself with tonight.
Fortitude: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26 (assuming all Con damage has healed by evening)

Kung
Since you're avoiding the drinking games, that leaves you with:
Arm Wrestling: Not merely typical arm wrestling bouts, such matches are usually conducted on a barrel top covered in broken glass, knives, or caltrops. Participants make opposed Strength checks, with the higher result determining the winner, and the loser taking an amount of damage equal to 1d2 + the winner’s Strength modifier as his hand and arm are pushed onto whatever lies on the table.
Hog Lob: Participants lob a lead ingot covered in a greased piglet skin, the “hog,” as far across the deck as possible. This game is resolved by d20 checks between any number of players, who agree on a bet beforehand.
The hog counts as an improvised weapon, imposing a –4 penalty on all rolls using it unless the thrower has the Throw Anything feat. Checks are resolved as attack rolls using the character’s CMB. Characters toss the hog a number of feet equal to their adjusted rolls; for example, a character who gets a result of 22 throws the hog 22 feet. Some pirates claim to have participated in games played against Asmodeus using a live hog.
And a new game.
Split the crown: Contestants get three throwing axes each. A stuffed sack is hung from the rigging at head height, with a crude drawing of what could be a noblemans head on it.
It's AC15 to hit the sack and get a point, AC 20 to hit the head and get 3 points.
Miss by 5 or more you lose your axe overboard, roll a 1 and you hit the deck and get a lashing for marring the ship.
All contestants put up an agreed sum of gold, winner takes all, in the event of a tie the tied contestants get one more throw each, until one out scores the other.

Ghilda sits down next to Barnabus, gets handed her rum ration, and sighs. Quietly to Barnabus, "The two halflings seem to be up in the air about joining us...let's work on them."

You may have missed this, GM - rolled a 10 on my rum fort check.
Ghilda, strangely soothed that her dependence on the rum may have passed, heads below with Chorley. "Mates! Please, allow me to show you one of Chorley's tricks! A dance from the decks of Seawraith herself - the Hunt of the Kraken!"
Please let me know what performance check to roll here.

I didn't miss your roll, you are cured of your addiction. *Cough*Lightweight*Cough*
For his performance Chorley needs to make an (Acrobatics) roll to entertain the crew.

Chorley takes his place in the center of a group of the gathered sailors, and Ghilda smiles at him. Chorley Acrobatics: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26
Chorley's rendition of 'The Hunt of the Kraken'
Ghilda applauds and cheers Chorley on!

Sorry Kung, I didn't forget you, just waiting for the others to tell me what they were doing as well.
No problem. I'd forgotten my rum ration roll the first time, so I needed to get that taken care of anyway. :)
Kung eyes the shards of glass on the top of the barrel warily, but decides he strong enough for the contest regardless. He steps up to the arm wrestling and looks for someone to compete with.

Jane will approach Rossie when she is alone, "I heard that you're a bard." she reaches behind her and pulls out the instrument. "You might want to have this secret for now."

You have succeeded in entertaining the crew.
If a character succeeds at a DC 20 Perform check, he gains a +2 circumstance bonus on all Charisma-based skill checks made to interact with any listener among the crew for the next 24 hours.
So you have the bonus with your gang, the neutrals were also glad for some entertainment, Meaning the bonus applies to them as well. Plugg's group were all off plotting evilly and don't watch.

Oddly enough when Kung steps up no one else seems interested in arm wrestling anymore?
Word is spreading of the crazy Half-orc who turns into a giant, and can out drink anyone!

Ghilda laughs and claps for Chorley as he jumps to her shoulder. "Good job, boy!"
Do I have a chance to "influence" anyone tonight, or am I done for the evening?

Already done by Barnabas earlier. You can choose another action for the evening.
Rosie is missing her fiddle, and has been unable to convince the quartermaster Cut-Throat Grok to give it back to her (having lost her temper when initially trying to do so). Any PC who can get Rosie’s fiddle back becomes her firm friend, and her attitude to that character permanently changes to helpful.

Louisiana Jane |

Jane once again sneaks away from the crew to try and open the metal chess.

Thanks, sir!
Ghilda will head to sleep, prepared to meditate early the next morning prior to the first bell.

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

Kung sits down at the barrel by himself, and absently fingers the broken glass and other shrapnel as he ponders what to do with his evening.
Are there any areas of the ship that haven't been adequately searched?

Barnabus II |

The games are interesting and look as if they were created only after much drinking.
@Kung
"No takers I see, how about we find some more recruits?...or check the galley for grub?"

GM_DBH |

Jane
store door: 1d100 ⇒ 2
Once again Grok has forgotten to lock the store door before setting off to drink.
Your stealth check lets you slip in unnoticed.
You fail to pick the lock. Looking closer you see it's a good quality lock. (DC30 for Disable device) It's trap has also been reset, but you didn't fail your check by enough to trigger it.
You can make perception checks on the other chests and trunk.

Barnabus II |

"Good even Ghilda."
@Kung
"It seems Ghilda is heading in to her prayers, but she thinks we two might have a chance at Ratline."
Will start looking for Ratline to influence

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

Kung perks up when Barnabus walks up. "Not good at friends... never good. You very good at friends." He listens as Ghilda and Barnabus strategize about the crew, and agrees to help Barnabus.
Kung will mostly hang back and let Barnabus take the lead, but he will assist where he can. I'm thinking an Aid Another check to Barnabus' Diplomacy, or whatever check it comes down to.

Barnabus II |

Barnabus laughs out loud.....
"That is a good one Kung, I spend so much time alone and exploring that I sometimes go weeks without seeing another person, and even longer without talking to one."
I think I have used my action for the evening, and mine is a -2 modifier, so you can't be much worse than that.....

Louisiana Jane |

perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

Yes, we're both -2 social. I think the fact that you're approaching and talking to Kung means--to him--that you're better at making friends. :)
"Also good alone. Best alone. But you're nice; you talk to me. Marnir also talks to me. Where's Marnir? Maybe we can have small drinks together, talk about what a good life on a ship looks like."
Kung is a bit timid to take the lead at trying to woo people at this point, having failed so dramatically already, but if Ratline shows up and it feels right, he may make an attempt. Until then, let's talk about not talking about mutiny!

Barnabus II |

I think due to some really good rolls, we are ahead of the curve so to speak on making friends....I will hope to aid another to your roll, so that should make you an even D20
"I think it is getting better, but I tell you this if those idiots strap me to the mast for the lash they will not live to regret it, being press ganged is one thing being lashed like a dog is another."
"Yeah good idea, maybe Marnir can go with us, he talks."

![]() |

Ghilda and Chorley sleep soundly, knowing that her friends are guided by Besmara. I'll update my profile with my prepared spells once it's clear the night is over.

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

I think Kung is the only one with an evening action left (other than Jane's that's being played out. I think it best that he not attempt any more influence checks alone.
He's simply proposing that the group have a few drinks together before bed.
Kung looks up sharply when Barnabus talks of being tied to the mast. "Plugg must never lash any of us," he points around to the rest of the party in the room or their bunks, "not again. Not how I would run a ship."
As he sits with Barnabus talking, Kung pulls out his whetstone and begins sharpening the blade of his greatsword.

Louisiana Jane |

Jane will attempt one of the simple locks, seeing as it is within her abilities.
DD: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28

GM_DBH |

Jane
You unlock Wooden chest two. You have now done both lockers and one wooden chest.
You find inside:
1 masterwork light crossbow.
3 cutlasses.
31 daggers.
3 masterwork daggers.
43 masterwork darts.
4 saps.
1 masterwork sap.
120 arrows.
26 masterwork arrows.
200 crossbow bolts.
What are you taking?

Louisiana Jane |

GM_DBH |

** spoiler omitted **
You can just manage it all.
Are you taking all the saps, or just the MW one?
However, you're now getting far too much to hide in your locker, it will pay to find somewhere to stash what loot you don't pass on to others.

Louisiana Jane |

all of them.

Louisiana Jane |

I'll spread it out into different foot lockers in our cabin. If i know of anyone who uses the bow, i'll drop that into his locker, Same with swords, daggers and other things.

Marnir Saltvig |

As Marnir finishes his story, he heads below decks hears his name whispered by Barnabus and Kung. "How goes your evening? No takers for an arm wrestle Kung?" he asks jovially, knowing full well that a number of rumours are spreading around the deckhands about Kung's prowess.

Barnabus II |

"Aye he had none so foolish, Ghilda has suggested we speak with Ratline, Kung and I thought you would like to go as well so that together we might have greater influence."
hey two aid another's is better than one!

Marnir Saltvig |

"Seems like we could use all the help we can get these days," Marnir replies conspiratorially. "More allies is more good, as my old jarl would say."
GM - I've used my Night action, but can we participate in other people's using Aid Another?

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

Kung, reluctant in light of recent failures, allows himself to be talked into an attempt to Influence the halfling rigger. With both Barnabus and Marnir at his side, he approaches Ratline with a friendly (and hopefully not *too* toothy) smile.
"Ratline, right? You good rigger, work hard. Some bad on this ship, but not us. We can be friends?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (18) - 2 = 16 I'll let Barnabus and Marnir roll their Aid Another checks; add them to this roll if they're effective.

GM_DBH |

That succeeds, even before the others aid you.
Ratline looks up at you. "Sure Big guy." He grins, clearly happy to be friends with someone who can tie him in a knot.
You're not a bully, unlike some of the other larger crew members.
Ratline's attitude moves form Indifferent to friendly.
All they give you is the name, race, alignment and job for most of the NPC's. I have to come up with personalities and hooks. Ratline is secretly an Enforcer for the Halfling Mafia, and likes Polka music, kumara & Lutefisk .
