Barnabus II |

Since Jane already declared her action...
Barnabus targets the rats with the sleep spell...
"Sleeping rats are easier to kill."
Will save DC 16 Up to 4 HD of creatures, in a 10 foot radius burst

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

![]() |

Ghilda is horrified to a certain extent by the large rats, and so she seems slightly hesitant to attack, at first. nice initiative roll lol "Uggg...hate these vermin..."

GM_DBH |

Rat 1 moves to B2 and attacks Marnir.
attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15 Just missing.
Rat 2 moves to B2 and attacks Marnir.
attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 Failing badly.
Rat 3 moves to C3 and attacks Kung.
attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Not Much better.
Now Kung, then Jane, Barnabas & Marnir have their actions.
To speed it up. The Rats have AC14 & 5 HP.
Map has been updated in Pictures to show where the Rats have moved. As they are small they can move into your squares.

Louisiana Jane |

I'll stick with my previously declared and aim at the rats that haven't moved. The DC of the splash damage is 13

Louisiana Jane |

Jane throws her bomb at the 5th rat. Rats 4 and 6 are in the splash damage range, their Reflex DC is 13, if they fail, it's 4 damage of splash. After which, Jane will 5 foot step behind her ally.

Jane throws her bomb at the 5th rat. Rats 4 and 6 are in the splash damage range, their Reflex DC is 13, if they fail, it's 4 damage of splash. After which, Jane will 5 foot step behind her ally.
Make an attack roll then.
We'll do yours now as Kung is busy with Rat 3.

Louisiana Jane |

Seeing the rats, Jane quickly makes a bomb and throws in the middle of them.
[dice=Alchemist Bomb]1d20+5 [dice=Damage]1d4+3
[dice=Alchemist init]1d20+3
This was the original post, it was a 24.

Oh right, back a page now.
So you hit and the 3 rats are all hurt.
Rat 5 is on 0 hp and staggered, the other tow are wounded badly.

Marnir Saltvig |

Just about managing to dodge the oversized teeth of the rats, Marnir swings his axe round and chops down at one of his attackers. "Bloody rats! Piss off!"
Standard Action to attack rat 1 with my battleaxe.
Axe attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
The axe thumps down through the rat and splashes into the murky water of the bilges.

GM_DBH |

Rats 4 & 5 are floating in the stinking water, fast asleep.
Rat 6 Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13 Goes for Barnabas. Hitting.
damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 And a (fort) save DC11 please Barnabas.
Rat 7 Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17 Same target.
damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 And another (fort) save DC11 please Barnabas.
Ghilda, your action please.
Updated map is Wormwood bilges round 1.2 in pictures.

"Taste my steel!" Ghilda moves five feet (D-1) and stabs at one of the dirty rodents with her rapier. Attack Rat 7: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 Crit! Crit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 Darnit Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Ghilda skewers the rat like a kabob.

![]() |

Rat 2 seeks bloody revenge for the deaths of his comrades.
[dice=Attack] 1d20 + 1; Hitting Marnir.
[dice=damage] 1d4 + 1; (Fort) save DC11 please Marnir.
Jane, Barnabas II and Marnir your turns.
Doesn't Kung go before Jane? And, does the water in the bilges impede movement at all?

Barnabus II |

Barnabus takes his Morningstar (cold iron)
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Damage 1d8 ⇒ 5
to the rat tha attacked him....
Fortitude save 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
"As soon as someone is free to do so, the two sleeping rats need to be dispatched."
Barnabus wonders how those who had been hunting vermin missed this brood, do these belong to a dark spellcaster also on board, or perhaps a wererat hidden among the crew?

Marnir Saltvig |

Fort save DC 11: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Feels like a waste of a nat 20!
Marnir feels the teeth of the surviving rat sink into his calf. He grunts in pain before kicking the rat away and trying to cut it in half with his already-bloodied axe.
Standard Action to attack rat 2.
Axe attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Like his rat friend before him, the vermin is cleft in two by Marnir's blade.

GM_DBH |

Kung attacks Rat 6 as it gnaws on Barnabas II.
attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15 Hitting.
damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2) + 6 = 10 And splatting.
Barnabas, that's two separate Fort saves, one for each bite. Rats have diseases. One made, one to go.
Ghilda, the bilge water suddenly rises to a depth of five feet, your questions are drowned out as you sink to the bottom.
Yes the water should make this difficult terrain, I remembered that too late so decided not to restart the fight and redo everything :)
That just leaves the sleepers.

GM_DBH |

You finish off the sleeping ratties with without having to roll for it.
Silence falls in the stinking sweat box of the bilges.
You can heal each other and have some time to look around, there are old discarded crates and sacks in here.
Perception check time.
The Dire rats came aboard in a sack of barley Captain Harrigan purchased on the cheap back in Port Peril. The sack was opened, found to be spoiled and dumped carelessly in the bilges. Having eaten the barley over the last few days the rats moved out of the sack and started looking for more food. Like poor Jack Scrimshaw.

![]() |

Ghilda wipes her rapier off, and surveys the bilges. "Who needs their wounds tended?" Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
I'm a little slow today LOL House full of guests and it's July 4th...

Louisiana Jane |

Jane looks at the oversized rats, "I'm soooooo glad that I didn't run across those when I had to catch rats the other day."

![]() |

Ghilda nods at Jane - "Disgusting things, they are." Ghilda retrieves the buckler and takes two silver pieces.

Marnir Saltvig |

Marnir looks around at the floating rat parts, and nods at Jane's statement. "I'm on rat-catching duty today. This looks like a job well done to me!" he exclaims, slinging his axe back onto his belt.
"One of the little bastards nipped me," he says to Ghilda. "I'd appreciate you looking at my leg."
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Louisiana Jane |

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

Barnabus II |

Fortitude save 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
"Thank you Marnir for your assistance."
Applies the healing hex to the Skald
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
and to himself 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
"Was anyone else injured?"
Renews the dancing lights to continue illuminating the area, looking for more rats

![]() |

"Everyone gather around me! I call on Besmara's grace to provide us with healing!" After everyone comes to Ghilda, she states, "Besmara, heal your servants!" Ghilda raises her arms and channels her divine energy. Ocean/Sea/Water
Channeled Healing: 1d3 ⇒ 1
Again, she, channels.
Channeled Healing: 1d3 ⇒ 1

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

Thanks for covering for me. I got a last minute invite to holiday festivities yesterday.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

GM_DBH |

Marnir
You uncover a Masterwork Handaxe behind some old, rotting crates.
No one else spots anything interesting.
Barnabas II and Marnir You both make all needed saves and don't contract Filth fever from the Rat bites.
You head back up top and continue in the thankfully cooler air (at least compared to the bilges anyway.)
Day ends and we move onto the night and bloody hour.
Marnir gets away with failing his (Survival) roll by waving around the bodies of the Dire rats, all are grateful those vicious things are dead.
Night actions from everyone please.
It's now obvious the division in the crew. Sandara, Maheem, Giffer Tibbs, Jack Scrimshaw, Tilly Brackett and Barefoot Samms Toppins are sitting and talking with you.
Jaundiced Jape, Fipps Chumlett, Slippery Syl Lonegan, Atretta Banison, Shivikah and Narwhale Tate are with Plugg and Scourge.
The rest of the crew eye both sides warily.

Barnabus II |

"Does anyone think any of the others are receptive to coexisting or at least perhaps the idea of joining us?"
I assume Syl is still giving me looks that kill...
"Otherwise a storm is brewing that will eventually come to fruition."

![]() |

Ghilda sits down next to Barnabus, gets handed her rum ration, and sighs. Quietly to Barnabus, "The two halflings seem to be up in the air about joining us...let's work on them."
Ghilda downs her rum ration. Fortitude: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Kungrusdak Nosvunkuk |

Kung will look for another game with the rest of the swabs (though he'll be staying away from any boozy games tonight!).

Louisiana Jane |

Jane looks around at those talking to them."We have been able to gather some of our weapons and I think I can get more."

Louisiana Jane |

Jane nods, "I was wondering who that belonged to. It's hiding under my mat." she goes and retrieves it.

Marnir Saltvig |

"Not a problem friend. Thank you for yours," Marnir replies as he feels Barnabus' magic close his wounds and heal his pain. Suddenly a dull glint catches his eye.
"How did this get lost?" he muses, moving through the water. He pulls an axe out of the murk and studies it with an appraising eye, taking a few practice swings. "A fine weapon, this. Well balanced and still sharp. Anyone mind if I keep it?"
Back on deck the breeze is welcome, and Marnir is glad to avoid the beating he thought he'd been heading for.
As darkness falls, the rum ration is issued again, and it burns Marnir's throat as it goes down.
Fort save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
With the division within the crew increasingly obvious, Marnir decides to try to sway more deckhands to their side for the inevitable confrontation that is brewing on the ship. He approaches the shaven headed man who he'd heard called Crimson by some of the other swabs. Taking a cautious but personable attitude, Marnir tries to engage him in conversation.
Night action to Influence Crimson Cogsworth. I feel like we need more people on our side.
"Things are starting to look tense on deck, eh friend? Looks like a storm is brewing. Ever seen anything like this before?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

GM_DBH |

Jane
Are you giving the fiddle to Rosie, or to someone else to give to her?
Marnir
You've seen Cogsword's type plenty of times on the longboats. A man looking for violence, only happy in a fight.
He wears the symbol of Pharasma around his neck and is watching the rest of the crew with an edgy look. "Aye." He answers shortly, throwing you a measuring look. "So when are you going to start the bloodletting?" He asks, "I hate it when everyone sits around waiting for someone else to move first"
You've moved Cogsword's attitude from unfriendly to indifferent. It's clear he doesn't care about sides, only that there is a fight.

Marnir Saltvig |

The man's desire for a fight is not a surprise. Marnir looks about for eavesdroppers before continuing the discussion. "Don't you worry friend, I'm sure something will happen soon. It's like a game of hnefatafl - they're circling us to try and wear down our defences, but we're ready for their attack whenever it comes. Trust me, Plugg and Scourge are going to make the first move. But when they do, they'll be sorry."
He finishes with a smile, and rests his hand on the axe at his belt.

GM_DBH |

Cogsword nods, looking at you as if to see how serious you are. "Those stories you told the first night were good." He offers up surprisingly.
Clearly if he can't have a fight he wants stories of blood and death.
You can make a Perform (Oratory) roll to entertain Cogsword and others if you wish.

Marnir Saltvig |

"And there are many more where those came from," Marnir says. He begins to tell the tale of the time the Dragon's Widow encountered a Chelish customs vessel off Cape Kraken. The northmen lured the Chelish sailors close, feigning compliance with the customs inspection, then boarded and captured the bigger ship, adding it's collected tithes to their growing treasure hoard.
Perform (oratory): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

Barnabus II |

"Are you healed fully Jack, the hour has come that I may once again tend your wound?......and have you a weapon or armor, we found some leathers in the bilge area?"
Nods to Jane about turning the fiddle over to the lady....
"I too shall go to speak to the lady concerning her support."
Rum ration fortitude save 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
