Round 3 redux

Feet firmly on the enemy's deck, Marnir unslings his shield and slips his left arm through it's straps. He steps forward and begins to call out in a loud, clear voice. "Sharpened steel and solid wood, the rush of fear and the taste of blood!"

Move Action to don my shield, Standard Action to commence my raging song using inspired rage.

Each ally, at the start of their turn, can choose whether or not to accept the raging song. Affected allies gain a +2 morale bonus to Strength and Constitution and a +1 morale bonus on Will saving throws, but also take a –1 penalty to AC. While under the effects of inspired rage, allies other than the skald cannot use any Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except Acrobatics, Fly, Intimidate, and Ride) or any ability that requires patience or concentration.

Round 4

With his chant echoing off the deck of the ship Marnir pulls out his battleaxe, a wooden haft with a long-bearded blade that glints in the sun, and strides past the ship's wheel towards the nearest enemy sailor.

"Raiders of the violent sea will stand and fight and never flee!"

Marnir swings his axe at the sailor, hoping to take him down swiftly and move in deeper into the battle.

Free Action to maintain raging song, Move Action to move up to R1 drawing my axe as I go, Standard Action to attack R1.

Without a pause, Kung uses the follow-through of his mighty swing to turn his body towards the next target. Stepping forward, he slices at the next crewman. "I'm a pirate!" He yells with a gleam in his eye and a smile on his face. (Stepping to T6 and attacking R4)

"The biting wind and rolling wave are only conquered by the brave!" Marnir sings out. He feels the wash of Ghilda's pirate goddess' magic guide his arm, and he swings his axe at the sailor in front of him.

Kung continues his frenzy of blood up on the stern castle. Lost in the literal fog surrounding the ships and the blood fog in his mind, the half-orc's grin seemingly stretches wider than his face in a truly horrifying display as he swings his sword at the sole remaining crewman on this level.

Ghilda and Marnir see that a Rahadoumi sailor has snuck up behind Harrigan as he hacks his way to the captains quarters. What are you doing about it? (Ha and Ra7 on the map)

Silence falls over the Aft deck as you kill the crew who were guarding it. It's hard to see much as the fog is shrouding most of the Mans promise deck now.

Your role was to kill the crew here, then guard the ships wheel and the two ships boats to ensure there is no escape.

Marnir sees an enemy sailor trying to sneak up on Captain Harrigan. Though he has no love for the man, the loss of the captain would surely rip the crew apart in a struggle for power.

"Captain, behind you!" Marnir shouts at the top of his voice, pointing through the gathering mist at the would-be backstabber.

The half-orc surveys the scene in front of him to see if there are any additional enemies that need his attention. (Trying to see if dropping Rage is a good idea at the moment. I.e. is there a battle that's moving its way towards us at the stern, or are we going to be calm for a bit?)

Hearing Barnabus' suggestion, Kung reacts violently. "Kung in charge!" Seeing the shock on his friend's face, he realizes that he's still influenced by the rage coursing through his veins, and he forces himself to calm down.

Dropping rage (2 rounds used), Kung is now fatigued for 1 minute.

"Sorry, you right. Guard the boats." He then proceeds to hand out orders. "Marnir, Jane, you guard the port boat. Barnabus, Ghilda, you guard starboard." Why port and starboard? We at sea, not at port. There no port near! And no stars except at night, and they not close enough to board. Silly names. "Kung guard the wheel, come help if there's trouble at the boats."

Marnir: If a PC attacks and hits the sailor or alerts Harrigan, the captain turns just in time and slays the sailor. Harrigan glances up at Marnir and nods in recognition.

At the end of Round 5 an explosion rocks the Mans Promise below decks. The cause is unknown for now? Though Jane can tell it seems to be a large amount of alchemists fire being set off.

You have just enough time to get to where Kung has ordered you to guard the ships boats.

Just as you reach your positions 3 Rahadoumi sailors appear out of the fog, making for the ships boat (B5).

Marnir feels the ship rock as a massive explosion seems to bend the deck beneath his feet. He sees more enemy sailors move out of the mist towards one of the ship's boats, and calls out to them. "You won't get away that easily fish-lovers, you'll fetch a hefty ransom from your masters!" He then continues his song, his heart pounding like a drum as he revels in the fight.

Are they moving toward the port boat or the starboard one, as they're both labelled B5 on the map? Free Action to continue my raging song, then I'll attack one of the enemy sailors, moving up to 30ft to get to them if they're on the wrong side of the ship.

Strange? I put it in and tested it. The map should be working now.

Marnir steps forward and kills one of the sailors (SA1) with one savage swing of his axe. Laughing joyously as blood sprays in a scarlet fan when the man is smashed to the deck.

The next sailor (SA3) goes pale at the sight of an Ulfen raider in full fury, but Marnir is between him and the possible safety of the ships boat. He steps up and attacks with his cutlass. attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 Hitting him for. damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Ghilda moves cautiously across the deck, made slippery by blood and other unpleasant liquids, reaching Marnir and healing him. Cure light: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

None of the Wormwood officers seemed surprised by the explosion, the battle is going well for you.

Map looks good now. Don't know why I wasn't seeing the update earlier today.

Kung, feeling weary from the fatigue but knowing his duty, moves down to the main deck to engage the sailors. Using the other set of stairs, he hopes to catch the sailors a little unawares and also be in position should they break for the other boat. (Movement ending at O6)

He swings at the sailor in front of him (Sa2), using Marnir's inspiration to help land a hit.

Nope, raging song doesn't have anything to say about fatigue, nor does it cause fatigue afterwards. Rage away my friend!

The sailor's bleeding corpse thumps to the deck at Marnir's feet, and he relishes the spray of warm blood across his face. Before he can react, another sailor steps up and slashes across Marnir's axe arm with his sword.

Marnir screams in pain, but then very quickly feels a warm tingle across his whole body, and the pain in his arm subsides almost as quickly as it started.

He sees Ghilda over his shoulder, and winks at her. "Thanks again to you and your pirate goddess!"

Sorry for the delay. RL has hit back at me over the last few days.

Jane B5 is the boat, no sailor there. As the other sailors are in melee with Marnir I didn't think you'd throw a bomb at them.

Sailor Sa2 meets Kung briefly, not even having time to scream as he's cleaved nearly in two, flying backwards and leaving a trail of blood and entrails over the deck.

Sounded like. Thumpthumpthumpthumpthumpthump SPLAT!!

You now have two rounds of no combat, all around you can see the tide is going the way of the Wormwood. More and more of the Rahadoumi sailors are surrendering as Harrigan emerges from below deck with what looks to be a heart clutched in his hand.

Marnir pauses a moment to wipe the blood from his face, and looks around at the carnage they have wrought.

"Retreat or surrender just means a slower death mate," Marnir replies to Barnabus' comment. "Better we give them a quick death than let the captain work them to death as slaves or torture them to death for sport."
