Everyone begins moving into the dissection room, while Genta opens the door out of the room and Fetch begins to shrink Ivan.
Genta and Ivan are burnt by the fire.
Wall of Fire: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3
Max and Gaevus are singed by the fire too.
Wall of Fire: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Ksarress moves in, but it seems silly for him to slice the bars, since he'd only be able to slice one at a time, and there is a door.
Fire Damage: 2d6 + 11 ⇒ (3, 1) + 11 = 15

Max Necrobie |
Max preps to go through the door once Genta opens it and hopefully drops the fire.. He murmurs "Didn't one of the caretakers say there's supplies in the closet here?" Unless Ivan is going that way first? in which case I follow him He nods at her to go ahead and Dispel it Presuming her Dispel is successful, can I move up the area where the WoF was, between the bar rows? This looks like a single file death trap.
Gaevus |
"Is there a way to jump right into the fray and distract the bad guys while the rest of us work their way past this stupid fire?" Gaevus looks angrily at the wall of fire, which brings back memories of a stupid wall of force in an adventure past, as his hair smolders in silence.
I'm just trying to find an in-character way of suggesting the idea of a dimension door. It seems like we're probably following through with Genta's plan of dispelling the fire as soon as someone tries to approach it. I wouldn't mind just running through the flames too, if someone has communal resist energy (fire)....
Gaevus |
"Let's see if Genta can outmagick their magic! And if not, then maybe we can hop in and get the jump on them!" Gaevus tries to put an angry face on. "Tell me if you want me to run through the fire, Genta!"
On a random note, doesn't Max have Dimensional Hop from Travel Domain now? (As if he needed another way to move 90 feet in one round.)
Gaevus |
"All right, enough waiting!" Clicking his heels together (haste) Gaevus charges his way into the fire. He sprints through several feet of flames, sticking his head out on occasion, looking for a safe area to escape. After running 60 feet, he find an open room and stumbles from the flames, surprising himself by stumbling into three enemies--odd looking things he's never seen before.
Over the message, Gaevus excitedly murmurs, "Hey! Guys! I found some bad guys a sprint away. I think they're undead? Bring the cavalry, it's time to engage!" Grabbing his blue scarf and using its innate magic (10 ft reach), he slashes out at the first exposed enemy.
Standard Attack: 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (7) + 27 = 34 vs. H2's AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 5 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 14 + 5 + 0 = 21 total damage (16 magic slashing, 5 precision, 0 sonic)
Genta |
"Just go through the fire! It's not that bad!" promises Genta. Unused to having a ring of energy resistance, she takes no damage from the hot curtain of flame and kind of forgets that anyone else might. Eager to find new targets, she follows Gaevus in (possibly taking some minor damage) and sees an undead-looking creature.
Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (9) + 19 = 28
"Huecuva! Use magic or silver weapons. It's probably dripping with filth fever," Genta relates. As Gaevus stabs it, Genta darts left out of the flames, suddenly finding herself face-to-face with another of the things. "Oh... hi," she says, holding up her shiny nonmagic, steel (not silver) mace protectively. Renyrd barks at it challengingly.
Double move.
DrParty06 |
Ivan shrinks down.
Gaevus goes running through the fire and stabs into one of the creatures he sees, causing it to crumble into dust.
Genta quickly follows through the fire, but is unharmed by it.
Fire Damage: 2d6 + 11 ⇒ (5, 1) + 11 = 17
Gaevus is stabbed by a rapier that appears out of thin air, catching him in the gut before he can react.
Attack: 1d20 + 15 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 15 + 2 = 23 vs. Flatfooted

Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
I expect Gaevus will parry.
Genta recognizes the spell eyebite being cast toward Gaevus, who needs to make a DC 23 Fort save.

Genta barely winces at the flames, her magic ring and magic spell false life keeping her safe. As for the undead...
Fort save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Fort save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
The attacks just barely break her skin. Genta suspects she might want to consult Max for a disease removal when this is all over.
Gaevus |
Gaevus flails as a bunch of things happen within a few seconds. Upon getting hit with an unflattering, "Eep!" he tries to shake off the enemy's surprise attack.
Fort save: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20 vs. DC 14 poison (includes bonus from heroism)

Gaevus then suddenly feels an awful pain, as a spell is cast at him!
Fort save: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28 vs. DC 23 eyebite
He fortunately shakes it off with a "Aha! Watch out, there's another caster in the back!"
Gaevus will say over the message spell, "Watch out guys, it's getting a little crowded! You can probably hop or magick your way into the middle of the room--it's about 60 feet toward us and 5 feet from the fire, I think? (using his Knowledge (engineering))--but otherwise, there's no way in! We can't get to that jerk caster in the back either!"
DrParty06 |
Genta may or may not be feeling well tomorrow, could be some food poisoning from that lunch or could be the claw of the undead.
Gaevus resists the poison and spell, knocking down the elf who stabbed at him dealing a significant amount of damage to him.
Ivan closes in on the caster who seems to be covered in a garment of bones, provoking from the prone elf, who stabs out fruitlessly, to do so.
Attack: 1d20 + 15 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 15 - 4 = 20
Max Necrobie |
Max grits his teeth and charges through the flames grumbling something about doing this sober. He comes up behind Gaevus, takes a moment to assess the situation and by the grace of Cayden he hops among the dimensions into the room to a place he can assist Gaevus and Ivan
Gaevus |
Gaevus takes a few revenge swings against the rapier-wielding elf on the ground, before turning his attention to one of the undead enemies (H1). Tapping his Boots of Speed together (7 rounds remain), he makes three swift attacks.
Full Attack (main): 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (14) + 27 = 41 vs. CC's prone AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 5 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 14 + 5 + 0 = 21 total damage (16 magic slashing, 5 precision, 0 sonic)
Full Attack (haste): 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (9) + 27 = 36 vs. CC's prone AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 5 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 14 + 5 + 0 = 21 total damage (16 magic slashing, 5 precision, 0 sonic)

Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 5 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 14 + 5 + 0 = 23 total damage (18 magic slashing, 5 precision, 0 sonic)
If CC falls unconscious, Gaevus will take his remaining swipes against H1, before taking a 5 foot step over CC's unconscious body.
Genta |
Genta walks away from the remaining huecuva provoking an attack of opportunity, and sees a human caster hiding in the back. "Why, hello there," she says, stepping towards him. She gives him an impish smile and meets his gaze.

AOO: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
The caster decides it's a nice time for a nap after a long day's work.
Will Save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Someone mauls the last undead and Ivan coups the necromancer(he was going to teleport too) (Or you can talk to him.)
You notice that there are a large number of books strewn around this chamber that otherwise looks like it is used to clean and study skeletal remains. Knowledge (Arcana or Religion) on the books.
You are able to find the supplies mentioned by the caretakers outside. You also find on the bodies of the elf and the human
Genta |
"Let me see those!" Genta says, gathering up the books and looking over them. She ignores the other stuff, though Renyrd sniffs through the various items, pointing out which ones are magic.
Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (15) + 22 = 37

Gaevus sniffs at the air while Genta looks through the books. "Ew, Genta, those wounds smell funky. You sure you're okay?"
Does anyone want the Potion of Displacement? Max? Gaevus will take it if not.
Max Necrobie |
As the party catrches its breath and the smell of burning dissipates, Max takes out a white wand and taps himself a few times as if trying to think.

Max Necrobie |
"That's a very good question, though it's more in Genta's field than mine" says Max, glad he has the Magic Circle up, lest he be possessed by Magic Jar Jar. He resolves to check when time isn't so pressing if the necromancer came with his undead or desecrated bodies here.
Genta |
"Thank you, Max!" says Genta, giving him a very warm smile. I believe that is double the relevant DC for remove disease.
Genta eventually tears herself away from the book to heal herself, seeing the others do it.
Cure Light Wounds (wand): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Cure Light Wounds (wand): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
"I bet I could learn magic jar," says Genta, conversationally. "But it's so very complicated. I heard about a Pathfinder who did it wrong, once, and got stuck in the body of a dolphin!"
Renyrd drags the robe of bones over to Genta with his teeth, and lays it at her feet. Then he looks up at her and yarps. "What?" Genta looks down. "Oh, Renyrd, I don't think I want that. You know it doesn't even grant you control over the undead it summons." Renyrd yarps again. "Another time. Besides, don't you want to know what's going on with that floating tower?" Renyrd's eyes widen, and he looks outside. He starts hopping up and down eagerly, making screaming noises of excitement waiting for the two-legs to hurry up and go.
Did we learn anything about the books?

Overseer Announcement

DrParty06 |
There are a wide variety of books that are spread around, but Genta notices a common theme among those that are opened are methods to capture and control a soul after death.
The Master of Swords directs you to one of three locations within Skyreach: to find Zey's notes on deactivating the Hao Jin Tapestry, to check on the Sky Key, or to the Hao Jin Tapestry itself.
DrParty06 |
A sign above the door reads Selmius Foster Memorial Library. This tall library is ringed by a walkway around its perimeter, which provides access to a second level of towering bookshelves. A broad Qadiran rug leads to a short pedestal within a tall glass case that itself sits within an inscribed circle—all cordoned off by a velvet rope suspended by brass poles. Several plush chairs and a few low tables bearing curios line the lower floor, and two decorative suits of armor stand at attention, each with a crossbow resting against its shoulder. Heatless torches blaze with remarkably even light in sconces throughout the room, and a tall pendulum clock against the eastern wall ticks each passing second as its hands move erratically
A ghostly image of a Pathfinder appears in the center of the room, where his likeness eerily begins to slide through the display case. His voice echoes as he speaks to an unseen party. “Oh no, they’ve stolen the Sky Key. It also appears they disrupted the auxiliary stabilizer, too.” He pauses before continuing. “Do you feel that? I feel kind of sick all of a sudden. I hope they didn’t try to disassemble it—or worse, bring it too close to the tapestry. Wasn’t that why Zey kept them so far—” The figure’s words go unfinished as he begins to scream and dissolve, fading from view in a matter of seconds.
As the image fades away, two reptilian nightmares with two pairs of stretched and veiny leather wings coalesce into existence.
Roll20 is updated. The tokens are exactly the same as what is there.
