Max Necrobie |
Max glances at the horrors Kno-Planes: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 and scowls "These foul things are Dorvae. We need blessed weapons to harm them, and so we shall have them." and he casts Align Weapon -Communal for Good and touches Ksarres and Gaevus weapons as well as all of his own Ksaress & Gaevus for 3 min each, 2 for his hammer & 1 on his spiked gauntlet (for close encounters) Then he moves to assist Ivan against D2
Fort: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24
DrParty06 |
Ivan is a little sick, but bites into one of the creature's wings, but is disappointed that it doesn't break completely.
Genta thinks the ghostly image might be a scene from the past that manifested as a result of the wards protecting the Sky Key being breached. She does her own time manipulation by freezing one of the dorvae into an ice tomb.
Fort Save vs. Ice Tomb: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Max aligns his allies' weapons, before moving into the room to support Ivan
Gaevus - You could've charged either, but would not have had a good weapon. You could still charge the iced one.
Gaevus |
Gaevus taps his boots together (6 rounds remain) and starts to run in, planning to rush around the monster, before thinking twice--did Genta say that they could grab him? He stays back, benefiting from Max's presence (his magic circle against evil aura) and staying in range of Yitza's spellcasting (in liberating command range). As he nears the creatures, he suddenly feels waves of sickness, which he fortunately resists.
Fort save: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28
Gaevus grabs his blue scarf yet again (10 ft reach) and bravely swings over the red ropes to strike at the scary reptilian nightmare.
Standard Attack: 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (6) + 27 = 33 vs. D2's AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 5 + 0 ⇒ (3) + 14 + 5 + 0 = 22 total damage (17 magic slashing, 5 precision, 0 sonic)
Gaevus will uncharacteristically try not parrying for once, to see how well this escape-from-grabbination spell (liberating command) works. (Totally OOC: Depending on how badly this goes, this might help for a Liberty's Edge faction goal.)
DrParty06 |
Yitza begins to sing.
Gaevus movees up and stabs into the body of the dorvae.
Ksarress follows in.
The dorvae not trapped in ice edges forward before clawing out at Gaevus, missing with both claws after being set off balance by the damage it took.
Attack: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (8) + 18 = 26

I think I can tag it from here. 5'step and...
Max adjusts and with the ancient Cailean battle cry of "Bar's Closed, Bub!" swings his attitude adjuster:
Hammer: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25
damage: 1d12 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25 Good, magic, blunt
and
iterative: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
damage: 1d12 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22 Good, magic, blunt
Fetch |
Ivan moves to the entombed fiend, and waits for the others to ensure it can be disposed of before it has a chance to react.
Fetch runs in rapid circles around Genta and Yitza.
Ksarress |
"Sssssooo, as usual my services were not required. Let us make some haste to see what further chaos and ruination these tressspassserss have wrought, unlesss you think further magical investigation here is required?"
DrParty06 |
The ice is broken away from the remaining dorvae, which is summarily slain by readied actions from Ksarress, Gaevus, Max, and Ivan.
Upon further investigation, it is obvious that the Sky Key is no longer here. The invading Aspis Consortium agents must have taken it.
You move on in an attempt to find any notes left behind by Aram Zey that would aid in deactivating the Hao Jin Tapestry. Genta reasons that the most likely place Zey would keep such notes is the Restricted Library. It takes you 10 minutes to get there, fighting through weaker Aspis agents and taking the circuitous route made necessary by the architecture of Skyreach.
Roll20 is updated.
Twelve bookcases line the walls of this cozy lounge room. Their shelves are crammed with books, scroll tubes, and tablets. Comfortable furnishings are arrayed so that scholars may examine the works without needing to remove them from the room. It may be here that Aram Zey hid his notes about the Hao Jin Tapestry.
Two elvish Aspis agents are ransacking the room as you arrive looking for any valuable items they may claim as their own. One of them (Elf 1) reacts very quickly to the sight of you and pulls an alchemist's fire from his pack, before throwing it to the ground in front of him, catching the books there on fire, and backing away slightly. The red square is on fire.

"Get your hands off of our books!" Gaevus yells, as he charges toward the second elf--the one slower to react, and the one unfortunate enough to have a clear line of access from Gaevus.
Charge Attack: 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (6) + 27 = 33 vs. Elf 2's AC (perhaps flatfooted AC)
Damage: 1d4 + 12 + 5 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 12 + 5 + 0 = 21 total damage (16 magic slashing, 5 precision, 0 sonic)
(Includes +2 attack from charging. Reduced attack & damage from lack of Inspire Courage.)
Question: Heroism lasts for 100 minutes at Yitza's caster level 10. It hasn't been 100 minutes yet, has it? I've sort of been lax about keeping track.
Ksarress |
Ksarress, with substantially less vigor, lumbers into the room taking stock.
"You there, punish your comrade for his egregious arson."
Ksarress casts murderous command at the elf who has yet to act (whichever one that is) DC 16, and furthermore will have them re-roll if they succeed the save.
Genta |
"Nooooo!" Genta cries at the sight of burning books. She dashes across the room to the burning literature and flings herself at the fire to try and smother it with her body.
I don't know if there's a Reflex save or any other kind of check Genta can make to try to put the fire out? Genta already double-moved this turn so it might have to wait.
If the elf Ksarress targeted tries to move past or through Genta's square to get to the other elf, she will not impede him.
DrParty06 |
Gaevus - He took a 5 ft. step away from the fire after throwing it, so he has reacted. The labels are correct. You're still planning on attacking that one? He's got a rapier at his side. Check back when heroism was cast on you.
Ksarress casts murderous command at the second elf and grants it misfortune, but finds the elf is not affected.
Will Save vs. Murderous Command: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30
Re-Roll vs. Murderous Command: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17
The second elf disappears from sight.

If the labels are correct, then I'll have charged Elf 1 then, since that's the only one I had a charging lane to, I think. (It's unclear whether the table would have gotten in my way.) Sorry for the confusion!
What's with all of these elves with rapiers?
Genta |
Gaevus |
1st - 0 min - Syrinxes in the Library (then 10 min transit)
2nd - 10 min - Sepses on the grounds (10 min transit)
3rd - 20 min - Wyvarans at the Menagerie (10 min transit to Pathfinders?)
4th - 20 min - Organizing Pathfinders (10 min duration? (are locations spread out?), 10 min transit to statue?)
5th - 40 min - "An Uninvited Gest" (20 min transit)
6th - 60 min - Aspis in the Mausoleum (10 min transit to Skyreach?)
7th - 70 min - Dorvaes at the Sky Key (10 min transit)
8th - 80 min - Elves in the Restricted Library
Anything marked with a ? didn't have a strict time listed, so I guestimated. Does this look about right? If so, we are about 80 minutes into heroism.
[EDIT] @Party: It will be 100 minutes from the 1st encounter (heroism spells on Max and Gaevus end) before the next encounter (9th), after factoring encounter durations and the additional time to reach encounter 9.
DrParty06 |
DrParty06 |
** spoiler omitted **
@Party: My guess is that we're about 80 minutes in from the 1st battle and heroism. Nathan might correct me, though.
This seems about right to me. We'll call it 100 min. in before the next encounter to factor in the travel time there and a bit of time for each of the combats.
Gaevus |
Genta |
Ok, this replaces Genta's other action.
"Nooooo!" Genta cries at the sight of burning books. She dashes across the room towards the fire and starts scooping up anything flammable on the ground near it, snatching up whatever books or scrolls she can save in the square between her and the fire. "Leave that one alive for me," she says, jerking her head in the direction of the arsonist, and thinking of the curses and hexes she has prepared...
Fetch |
"probably doesn't matter. Ivan, let's try plan A. Go put out that fire!" Ivan give her a look as he begins flying to the fire. "I don't know! Sit on them? Genta seems to think your muscles might help"
Ivan attempts to beat out the fire.
fire putting out combat maneuver: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (13) + 24 = 37
"Excellent work on plan A, Ivan! Now, let's see..." Fetch begins casting Summon Monster 2.
She will probably abort the cast before completing it, unless there is a lot more fire next round.

Max smacks the elf who threw the alchemist's fire.
Yitza takes up a new song.
The elf, who was just smacked, tries to tumble away from Max and Gaevus[/b. He avoids being attacked by [b]Max, but provokes an attack of opportunity from Gaevus. He'll continue his turn after this resolves.

As a note, I'm not sure if charging affects CMD. If it does, I think Gaevus's CMD might be 2 lower, if that makes the difference.
Gaevus takes a swing at the tumbling elf! "Don't try to outdo me!" Gaevus protests.
Attack of Opportunity: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (15) + 26 = 41 vs. D1's AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 5 + 0 ⇒ (3) + 14 + 5 + 0 = 22 total damage (17 magic slashing, 5 precision, 0 sonic)
Crit confirmation: 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (13) + 27 = 40 vs. D1's AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16 total damage (16 magic slashing)
Gaevus's grumbling swing is so fantastic that it threatens to trip the tumbly elf!
40 vs. D1's trip CMD to trip (Tripping Strike)
As the elf's body briefly hangs in the air horizontally before falling splat, Max and Gaevus are able to take dirty swings at the evildoer! If the crit confirms + the trip goes off, Max gets an attack of opportunity (Greater Trip).
Greater Trip attack: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (5) + 26 = 31 vs. D1's AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 5 + 0 ⇒ (3) + 14 + 5 + 0 = 22 total damage (17 magic slashing, 5 precision, 0 sonic)
"That's what you get for trying to out panache a swashbuckler!"
How's the elf looking? I might try to murdernate him/her. If the crit and/or 2nd AoO take him/her out, I'll likely delay for the other elf to show back up.
Genta |
"Thank you, Fetch. Ivan." says Genta with deep emotion. She straightens up and notes that the firebug is already dead. She makes a sound of disgust. "That was too quick for him," she mutters.
Did the second elf cast a spell? Spellcraft: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (17) + 22 = 39
Gaevus |
"Uhhh. Was I not supposed to slay him? I guess I got carried away. I know how much the Pathfinders like their books...."
Gaevus will delay until the second elf reappears.
DrParty06 |
"Thank you, Fetch. Ivan." says Genta with deep emotion. She straightens up and notes that the firebug is already dead. She makes a sound of disgust. "That was too quick for him," she mutters.
Did the second elf cast a spell? [dice=Spellcraft]1d20+22
No, just disappeared.
DrParty06 |
Can we hear the elf? Or are we out of combat?
[dice=Perception]1d20+17, includes +2 from heroism I forgot about
Taking a move action to do an active Perception check, you hear a lot of movement and the sounds of battle in the room, but you can't pinpoint a noise that would have specifically come from the elf, who hasn't done anything you know of besides disappear at this point.
You are still in initiative.
Gaevus |
Gaevus will prepare himself for Ksarress's magic to take hold. (If that is permissible, that is.)
If the Ksarress reports that the remaining elf is within 10 ft, I will take a 5 foot step and attack. If Ksarress reports the elf is within 15 ft, I will take a 5 foot step, activate my Blue Scarf Swordmaster's Flair and attack.
@Ksarress: Don't bloodragers have CL = their level? I think they're different from paladins and rangers in that regard.
DrParty06 |
Bloodrager gets full level as caster level rather than level-3, but doesn't gain the caster level for the purpose of spell completion items until 4th level. Either way, that's a good enough UMD check to activate a scroll up to CL8 (see invisibility being CL3).
Ksarress sees the other elf standing only 10 ft. away from him, diagonally behind Gaevus, who can try to hit her. She is visible on Roll20 again, but is still invisible to all but Ksarress
Gaevus |
Assuming that Ksarress tells me where the elf is:
Gaevus shouts, "What? Where!" and blindly swings where Ksarress tells him to.
Standard attack: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (16) + 26 = 42 vs. Elf 2's AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 5 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 14 + 5 + 0 = 21 total damage (16 magic slashing, 5 precision, 0 sonic)
Total concealment miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 57 to hit: 51-100 hits
The slash hits more meatily than anyone expects. Gaevus decides to follow through with his low swing (after all, he IS of halfling height), to trip his opponent.
Crit confirmation: 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (10) + 27 = 37 vs. Elf 2's AC
Damage: 1d4 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16 total damage (16 magic slashing)
37 vs. Elf 2's trip CMD (Tripping Strike)
Sadly, Gaevus can't take an extra swing against his enemy, who he can't see, though he is still satisfied by the thump of his foe hitting the floor.
"Um, I think I hit him--her?--pretty hard. Do we want to keep this one?"
Ksarress |
Yes. Ksarress pauses a beat before stepping up and saying "Gaevus...slash behind you, now!"
(Edit) By moving to point out the elf, I think Gaevus' trip does grant Ksarress and aoo, no? And within 30 feet of Yitza?
aoo vs prone?: 1d20 + 18 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 18 + 4 = 39

aoo crit dmg: 1d8 + 24 ⇒ (6) + 24 = 30
Genta |
Genta doesn't answer Gaevus' question. She and Renyrd stare at the point where the thump came from. Genta focuses, keeping a hold person spell at the tip of her tongue to cast at once should the elf be so foolish as to reappear.
