Knowledge(Local): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Knowledge(Religion): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
"Yep, that confirms it. Not good."
Yitza starts to move towards Max, saying "Max, I'm scared of those things. Be a hero for me and protect me from them..." Bluff: 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (6) + 27 = 33
She's trying to get within touching distance to covertly cast Heroism on Max, but doesn't want to force the fight to start before it has to... Because she thinks it has to, given what she knows of the syrinx.
Ksarress |
Ksarress steps into the room slowly:
Gozreh? I can think of nothing to incite you to violence here. It seems you seek not to kill but something else. Speak quickly of your purpose, that I may distinguish you from those of greater malice.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (12) + 20 = 32
Yitza |
Yitza casts Heroism on Max, and then moves towards Gaevus next...
"Er... what kind of charts? Who trapped you?" Bluff(secret message): 1d20 + 27 ⇒ (13) + 27 = 40
Yitza gives a discrete, but very telling look in Max's direction. She thinks helping evil creatures isn't a good idea.
Do we know how 'classified' those star charts would be?
Ksarress |
Kssarress mutters in infernal, hoping the language switch and the low volume via message will conceal his words:
DrParty06 |
One of the owl people says, "What are yooou doing there?", directed at Yitza casting the spell.
"Staaar chartss. Tooo know oooourr place. Paaathfinders trapped uus.", says another.
Genta |
"Oh, come on! We are not letting them mess with our books!" cries Genta. Her eyes and Renyrd's start to glow an icy blue... in defense of a library, Genta gives no quarter!
Craft (books): 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (1) + 25 = 26
Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (17) + 22 = 39
Not that Genta really needed to know that... to her, all books are valuable!
DrParty06 |
Provoked by Genta's book proclamation the creatures let out hooting calls,"Yooouu will pay Pathfinderss!" and prepare to strike.

Gaevus waits briefly, to see what Yitza will do first. "Help me make this attack great, so I won't get karked!" He hops in place with his Boots of Speed. "Maybe an inspiring tune or a supporting spell?"
@Yitza: Do whatever you want! You know that Gaevus has Boots of Speed, if you want to forgo haste. You also know that he doesn't really need heroism, though he'd appreciate it at some point to help with his saves. You can also just tell him to shut up and go, and he'll gladly charge forward anyway, because swashbuckler!
I'm currently assuming that I have mage armor cast before we entered this building as discussed, but that Yitza didn't have the chance to cast heroism after casting it on Max.
Fetch |
Since she began trying to think of a good story for the circle, Fetch has appeared almost blind to the world. She seemed completely lost in her own thoughts. Apparently even ignoring Farabellus' speech and the ensuing commotion, she vaguely followed Genta around. Anyone thinking to approach her was rapidly dissuaded by a glare from Ivan. Now, as tensions increase, a tear rolls down her cheek, and she suddenly shakes her head as if to clear it. Really seeing the Syrinx for the first time, her eyes seem to catch fire: "You have one chance to tell me that you've renounced the slavery that is the custom of your race." she growls in their direction, as her hands begin moving to weave a spell.
Yitza |
"Well, that escalated quickly... Let's end this swiftly!" Muttering and moving her hands in the appropriate patterns, Yitza casts Haste on the party, and then begins singing: "Whooo are you, who, who?"CSI/The Who theme, with extra hooting thrown in. Everyone in the party feels more courageous.
The party has +2 Inspire Courage and is Hasted!
Gaevus |
"In defense of cookbooks!" Gaevus moves quickly over the blue rug towards one of the farther enemies (OP1). With a quick twist, his scimitar lashes out!
Standard Attack: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (18) + 25 = 43 vs. OP1's flatfooted (hopefully) AC -- crit threat
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 14 + 5 = 20 magic slashing damage (includes 5 precision damage)
Inspired by Yitza's anti-karking song, the attack seems to hit extra hard and threatens to trip the syrinx, giving Gaevus the chance to strike again!
Crit confirmation: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (17) + 26 = 43 vs. OP1's same AC
Crit damage: 1d4 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18 magic slashing damage
If the syrinx is not flying, Gaevus will make a trip attempt using his crit confirmation roll (43) vs. the syrnix's trip CMD. If it gets tripped, Gaevus will make an attack of opportunity using Greater Trip.
Attack of Opportunity (Greater Trip): 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (18) + 25 = 43 vs. same AC -- crit threat
Damage: 1d4 + 14 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 14 + 5 = 20 magic slashing damage (includes 5 precision damage)
(I'm not rigging this, I swear!)
Crit confirmation: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (2) + 26 = 28 vs. OP1's same AC
Crit damage: 1d4 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16 magic slashing damage
"Hurrah, cookbooks!" Gaevus shouts. He then grabs his Andoran blue scarf and activates it! Gaevus activates his Blue Scarf Swordmaster's Flair, gaining 10 foot reach. "Come at me, birds!" He taunts the other syrinxes, hoping that they will come for him, and provoke attacks of opportunity doing so!
Gaevus will take any attacks of opportunity for enemies moving through his 10 foot reach, and will parry the first attack made against him.
DrParty06 |
Yitza inspires and hastens the party.
Gaevus uses this inspiration to move forward and slash critically into the side of an owl-person. As he attempts to use this strike to knock the creature over, it regains it's balance by flapping it's wings.
One of the syrinx steps forward to peer around the bookshelf and hoots,"Feel Gozreh's wrath of winter!", as it gestures towards the party causing a storm of sleet and snow to appear around the party striking everyone but Gaevus painfully. The blue area is now difficult terrain.
Bludgeoning Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 3) = 6
Cold Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 4) = 10
A second syrinx edges back from Gaevus and says,"Yooou hurt my companion. Now, I will hurt yoou." as necromantic energy spews forth from his hand surrounding Gaevus

"Ice storm, unholy blight," whispers Genta through the message spell, rattling off the names of the spells she identified. "Definitely evil."
Genta makes those Spellcraft checks on a 1.
Ksarress |
Ksarress is anxious to defeat these foes. With powerful strides and supernatural speed, he takes advantage of Gaevus distraction and leaps behind one of the syrinx before slashing with his katana.

Genta ducks out of the ice storm, stopping when she gets to an area that isn't icy. "I'll show you what winter is..." she says ominously, and her eyes and Renyrd's both flash a bright ice blue. They spin to their right, and unleash their most powerful hex at the syrinx!
Ice Tomb at OP3: 3d8 ⇒ (4, 1, 7) = 12 cold damage, Fort DC 24 to halve the damage and negate being paralyzed and unconscious.
Gaevus |
Gaevus eyes his next target, the syrinx up the stairs. (He's looking at OP2, who had cast unholy blight on him.) He looks sadly at his short scimitar, realizing that the stairs are going to make it impossible for him to reach his enemy in a simple step.
Then his eyes brighten. "Max! Can you do that magicky thing you that makes it easier to move up stairs for a few seconds, so that I can nab this guy who used his evil magic on me?"
(@Max: He's asking you to use Agile Feet on him with your Caravan Bond, so that he can make up for his legs not being long!)

Yitza |
Yitza spits out the snow that got blown into her face, and gingerly moves across the jagged and slippery floor. It take all her concentration, but she keeps singing. Her voice has taken on a slightly shrill and ferocious quality, and she looks dangerously annoyed. "Who are you? Hoot, hoot. Hoot, hoot. I really don't care."
EDIT: I forgot haste let me move normally... I updated my position on roll20 and am now providing Discordant voice to Max and Gaevus.
Gaevus |
With his magically Agile Feet, Gaevus makes a 5 foot hop onto the stairs, from which he makes a magically quick triple slash at the syrinx who cast at him previously!
He whiffs the first attack, but tries to hit extra hard with his third!

Yitza moves into the room out of the icy storm, while continuing to sing her song against the owls.
With the help of Max, Gaevus takes the stairs with ease and slices and dices into the bird-man who made him feel bad things.
Ivan knows Fetch's distaste for these types of creatures and viciously bites into the syrinx previously targeted by Max as it futility tries to duck behind the bookshelf.
The syrinx closest to Gaevus edges forward putting his hand to his holy symbol and says, "Feel the sting of Gozreh! It doesn't seem to bother him, but hits everyone besides Fetch.

With the enemies dispatched, the crispy, negative energy-ed Gaevus rubs his forearms. "Um, can we get some healing? Maybe a channel or two? ... Or a dozen wand charges?" He winces again. "Hm, I wonder if maybe we can find another Pathfinder to help us out...?"
I usually tend to hoard bonuses, but we were told that it'd be good to keep these Aid Tokens moving. I'll vote that we use it to get a Pathfinder to help us with a Burst of Healing for 5d6 hp back. I'm also totally down for guzzling a few of those Potions of Cure Light Wounds....

I vote to use the healing ASAP and send the aid token to another table that might still be in combat. What does everyone else think?
Ksarress |
Enemies dispatched, Ksarress uses a wand on himself, and as his wounds begin closing he offers assistance to anyone requiring it, though he pauses especially before healing Gaevus as he thinks Gaevus might only agree out of ignorance.
"The more quickly we can recover, the more quickly we can continue to carve through the ranks of these cretins and their pretensions of being worthy foes"
Kssarress will use up to 5 infernal healing wand charges on himself to be fully healed over 5 minutes, depending on any other party healing or being able to get into the next fight faster than that.
Gaevus |
Gaevus blinks at Ksarress. "I don't get it."
@Ksarress: No, really, I don't get it. Is it because Gaveus wouldn't know it's infernal healing? Because, to be fair, he wouldn't.
Gaevus waves at the hobbling healer as he hobbles off. "Thanks! Hope the other battles are going well!" Still singed, he decides to steal two of the Potions of Cure Light Wounds.
