Genta |
Will vs. Channel Negative Energy: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
Genta winces at the negative energy, but sighs with relief at the wave of positive energy from their ally. She quickly draws her wand of cure light wounds and uses it on herself a few times, until the pain stops.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Renyrd, meanwhile, sniffs out one of the rings of protection, and barks shrilly to Genta. "Bring me that ring," she murmurs. The ring floats over to her, and she puts it on. "Let's not dawdle," she says, urgently. Renyrd hurries back to her side, ready for more action.
In answer to an earlier question: Genta is openly and unapologetically wearing her shining wayfinder.

As you exit Starhall after dealing with the syrinx,in one direction, you see that the Mausoleum has been broken into, there are 2 huge snake-like creatures slithering towards initiates in the other direction, and a number of other creatures streaming into the northeast and south sections of campus. Where do you go?
Gaevus |
"Are we just guzzling potions and moving on without channeling, then?" Gaevus greedily eyes the remaining Potions of Cure Light Wounds--after all, he was interrupted during first lunch, and at this rate, there would be no time for second.
He blinks briefly. "Uh, Genta, there's nothing important in this library here that we have to worry about, right? Everything's safe and sound now, and we should just keep running hastily?" Gaevus scratches his head and looks around to see if anything else important is sitting around this room, other than this crime scene he caused--he doesn't see a bloody spear anywhere, but does he see anything else?
Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33
Gaevus |
Gaevus sees that everyone else has walked out of Starhall, apparently. Nabbing a few of the remaining potions to top him off as second lunch, he follows the group. "Shall we save the initiates? Or are we supposed to save the Mausoleum? What do they keep in there anyway?"
"Creepy," Gaevus mutters with a shiver after Ksarress casts his spell. He sniffs the air, and looks at Max. With a grin, he says, "You smell like roasted turkey!"
After Ksarress's infernal healing passes, Gaevus will be at 73/79 HP. The others look pretty singed though, and so do you! Out of character, maybe channel once and see how everyone's looking after? These potions look mighty tasty, and can probably tide us off until dinner with a channel! Not supper though.
Genta |
I think it's safe to assume we spent a minute of downtime, but not more? Genta spent at least 30 seconds.
"I think the library is secure. Maybe we'd better go save those initiates," Genta suggests.
Max Necrobie |
Max nods, checks once more and chugs one vial that looks a bit like a shotglass
Cure Light potion: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
and with a wince and a shout of "that's the good stuff!" you feel a burst of well-being sweep through you.
Channel: 5d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 6, 1, 3, 1) + 1 = 14 (+10 to himself)
Singed a bit, and I just got these new vestments.
Gaevus |
"I'm feeling short, AND sassy!" Gaevus proclaims, after being washed over by Max's inebriating positive energy.
Do the Pathfinders keep anything special in the Mausoleum? Besides, you know, bodies?
nfelddav |
Intent on his prey, Ivan fails to make any effort to avoid the pillar of unholy fire:
Will v Channel: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Reflex v Flame Strike: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13
When it passes, Ivan lies unconscious - at least, until all the healing happens.
Ivan is now down 53. Ivan will drink whatever potions other people don't take, and Fetch will use wand charges for whatever group healing doesn't cover.
"Are we having trouble choosing between saving initiates and saving the mausoleum??"
Genta |
"No, we're going to, let's save them, come on!" Genta replies to Fetch, tripping over her words a bit in her excitement. Renyrd yelps in agreement. Genta knows her leadership skills need some work, but this is a no-brainer.
Gaevus |
"Let's go be heroes!" Gaevus runs off behind Genta. "Didja see what those snake-things were?"
We have 3 Potions of Cure Light Wounds left. Let's see how Yitza looks after the two channels. How does Ivan look?
DrParty06 |
You run off in the direction of the snake-like creatures. It takes you a few minutes to catch up with them and get their attention, as they chase down other less able Pathfinders across the beauty of the Grand Lodge’s well-manicured grounds. The beauty is shattered by the sounds of shouts and screams from panicked initiates, support staff, and visitors. Frightened innocents trip over hedges and stumble through fountains and pools in an effort to get to safety by the most direct means possible, especially when the landscaping otherwise leads them to certain peril.
Ksarress's heroism ends, haste ends, and Ivan is no longer enlarged.
When you get closer, you see that the snakes are huge and have large fangs dripping with venom that hisses when it makes contact with the ground.

Roll20 is updated. Squares with any grey are normal terrain, others are difficult terrain.
Ksarress: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Yitza: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Max: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Gaevus: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27
Genta: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Fetch: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

S2: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Genta |
Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (7) + 22 = 29
"Sepses!" exclaims Genta. "Watch out for their nasty, nasty poison! Try not to let the acid get onto your weapon when you hit it! And... make sure you jump good and high before you pounce on it! Wait, what?" She turns to Renyrd, who continues giving some friendly advice in the form of yips and barks. "Ok, but those are bigger then regular snakes, so I don't think the traditional vulpine attack-from-above is going to work," she explains to the fox, momentarily distracted from the fight by her conversation.
Ksarress |
For the sake of my sanity in explaining how we could have possibly all arrived at a similar time, could Ksarress summoned a riding horse but abandoned it for combat as it would just get in the way.
Even having his enhanced his speed, the terrain here is too awkward for Ksarress to engage effectively. He delays, especially so allies can cast spells on him effectively and to see if Ivan leaps to engage.
Gaevus |
"Uhhh. You said poison, right? Would this bladeguard stuff help? The guy at the store said it would...." Gaevus pulls out a pot of bladeguard (which takes a move action), and he starts applying it to his precious scimitar. (This is a full round action and so should take his standard action both this round and next.) He assumes a defensive position while doing so, but is more concerned with his beloved sword than moving out of the way to safety. In the meantime, he hopes that Max's magic and Genta's hexes might be able to placate the snakes....
Could Gaevus could parry (without riposting) without disrupting the application of the bladeguard?
EDIT: In retrospect, I guess Gaevus could have picked up the Bodyguard feat this turn (via Martial Flexibility) and stood closer to his allies to help them with a +4 to AC, and then applied the bladeguard next turn. Sorry, allies!
Fetch |
"That's a brilliant plan, Renyrd! Ivan, fly up high, and get ready to pounce!" Ivan flies ahead, and 30ft above the ground, while Fetch begins casting enlarge person once again. He total defenses in case this precaution is insufficient. Or there is acid spitting.
30ft above the ground is out of 15ft reach (which I hope is sufficiently cautious) of a typical huge creature. If these seps are not typically proportioned, that is adjusted up or down accordingly - to be just out of 15ft reach.
Fetch |
Yes, Ivan flying up high was to avoid the snake getting to attack, not to inflict it on Ksarress. If the snakes aren't having trouble moving, Ivan will skip the moving part of that.
Genta |
Catching on to Max's act, Genta starts to hum "The Streets of Sothis," a traditional snake-charmer's melody. Even as she backs away, Genta focuses her bewitching magic on the closer seps, hoping to lull it long enough for her friends to maneuver into position. Position to cut off its head, maybe.
Slumber hex @ S2: DC 24 Will save, or it slumbers for 10 rounds or until woken.
Gaevus |
Gaevus finishes applying the bladeguard to his beloved scimitar, then moves around the side of the second snake. Via message he says, "If we wait a bit, we can all coordinate an attack on this sleeping serpent. Well... maybe not Max," he corrects himself, as he looks at their friend concentrating on keeping the first snake at bay.
"I don't exactly know how this poison works. Do you want me to try to coup it with my protected scimitar? I just don't want icky snake poison to get on me. It's, uh, not good for my complexion? Otherwise, I can help get ready to smack it if it gets back up, if you give me a second...."
If you guys want to wait, I can try to crit it on my turn with Risky Striker, doing somewhere around the range of 50 damage if Yitza is singing (2d4+45+1d6). I think my blade will be protected from the corrosion? I-I actually have no idea. The idea of attacking it with a reach weapon (from Ksarress on Roll20) sounds good too! The rest of us can ready to smash it if it gets up....
Fetch |
Ivan's booming bass rings out: Thank you for the protection, little friend. I shall watch over you as you cut the head from this serpent, in case of anything... unexpected. Then we shall go together to take care of the other.
Fetch and Ivan delay
Max Necrobie |
Max shifts a little to hopefully be out of splash range of anything messy & burning and continues to Concentrate on maintaining the Calm Emotions "Mighty fine work there, Genta. If anyone needs to be able to move more easily through the footing here, sing out" (rd 2 of 9 on the CE)
Ksarress |
just to move things along, assuming nothing interrupts...
With a mighty swing, Ksarres raising and brings down his war scythe on the head of the serpent:
Coup de Grace: 8d4 + 84 + 2d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 3, 2, 3, 3, 1) + 84 + (2, 1) = 106
reflex save vs acid: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
Yitza |
Yitza picks up the "The Streets of Sothis", harmonizing and embellishing around Genta's sung spell. She steps up behind Ksarress, with her eyes glinting avidly, watching the strike that ends that nasty slithery thing.
The party has Inspire Courage +2 again.
She is casting Lullaby to try and help, DC 15.
@Gaevus - Yitza would have cast Heroism on your as we were healing up after the syrix squad. So, be Heroic. ;-)
Max Necrobie |
Max takes those few extra moments to caution folks "Just be careful setting up on this other beastie I have here. As I recall, aggressive action toward it will break the spell. So approaching it as unthreateningly as you can might be wise?"
Genta |
Genta merely continues humming along with Yitza, eying the other, ensorcerceled seps. "I'm ready to pick up where Max left off if something goes wrong with this one..." she murmurs to her companions.
Genta will ready an action to slumber hex S1 if it shows any sign of violence, i.e. if Max's spell ends.)
Yitza |
Yitza grins broadly when the head is lopped off. If possible, her grin gets even bigger when she realizes that Genta is still singing with her. She's almost bouncing up and down with glee.
"Gaevus, if you come over here I can cast Resistance on you next round." She reaches over and touches Max, casting Resistance (+1 to saves). Somehow, she manages to flawlessly work the words and gestures into her song, never disrupting the melody.
Gaevus |
@Yitza: "Thanks for the heroism! I'll try extra hard to be a hero who doesn't get karked!"
Gaevus will clap his hands with glee at the new magic trick that Ksarress has shown the party. He'd only seen those "saw the beastie in half" tricks at Varisian shows!
With this snake taken care of, he'll casually canter (double move) to behind the first snake, copying its undulating snake dance.
@Yitza: Sadly, resistance won't help those who have Cloaks of Resistance like me, because same bonuses don't stack. Does anyone NOT have a Cloak of Resistance? You might be able to cast it on them!
@Max, from Roll20: TIL magic circle against evil moves with a targeted creature! I'd appreciate it being cast on me for the saves versus evil control, but I'm not sure if I'd be the best choice as a shield against summoned creatures, since I'm bound to be running forward at them, and I think that ruins the protection's aura vs. summoned creatures.
DrParty06 |
As Ksarress thwacks the head off the first serpent, the second breaks free from Max's trance. Genta is prepared and her soothing song slumbers this serpent setting it up for Ksarress's scythe, which will lop off another head. Ksarress roll another Reflex save to pull your weapon away.
Will Save vs. Slumber: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Fort Save vs. Coup: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21
Gaevus |
"Be careful, Ksarress!" Gaevus looks sadly at his scimitar. "Hm, I guess I didn't need that bladeguard after all.... Oh well! At least it's safe now!" Gaevus goes over to the pot of bladeguard that he'd dropped. "Does anyone else want some bladeguard? If not, I'll save it." He closes one eye and stares into the pot with the other. "I think there's enough for one more one-handed weapon?"
Ksarress |
coup: 8d4 + 92 + 2d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 1, 1, 3, 3, 3, 4) + 92 + (3, 3) = 121
reflex save: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
With a great ki-yah Ksarress brings down the scythe inspired by the music, but in his enthusiasm lodges the scythe and didn't pull away from the acid blood this time.
acid: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 3, 5) = 15
Ksarress |
[Ooc]I believe only the weapon is damaged. On fact, unless the acid does half damage to objects, my scythe is destroyed[ooc]
Ksarress casts the still smoking weapon aside.
"I'll not return that to its place. If it isn't ruined already it would snap with the next blow. Gaevus, if it will keep save it for yourself. If it will otherwise spoil I will happily protect my blade as well."
Genta |
"That worked pretty well," says Genta, looking around to make sure the initiates got away safely. "Did you see if anyone else got into the mausoleum? Because we should check that out."
