Ksarress |
There was also flanking, but it looks like you included that. Go teamwork!
Yep! that was responsible for some 25-30 damage. And while no one bonus to hit made the difference I think, if I didn't have all of heroism, bardic music, and flanking I would have missed some.
Max Necrobie |
yes, sorry about that. Forgot I was Hasted, and also the Heroism bonus on my fort save vs the poison breath. I wonder if Ivan got his AoO against it when it stood up from his Trip. Still, looks like things may work out OK. Just have to patch up Gaevus. Naturally we were inspired to shred this thing into scrap for busting you in the face like that! Nobody gobsmacks OUR Gaevus!
Ksarress |
I calculate 138 damage before Max's missing haste attack, actually, counting Ivan's AOO and 15 DR. So actually it probably died before I got to go. That means Max actually got to kill it - either with his main attack or maybe the haste attack if necessary. I need to remember to have Ksarress be more lazy ;) Also, I should maybe wait for things to actually get resolved before posting all excited like for a full attack >.<
Gaevus |
@Ksarress: In your defense, I also got a little carried away too! I totally missed half of my bonuses and didn't include the parries.... D:
Anyway, if I get crit and we can't reroll the crit, then the three Potions of Cure Moderate Wounds and a bunch of wand charges should be sufficient. Hopefully!
Gaevus |
Was it decided if we could reroll the original crit threat on Gaevus? If not, I'm going to need to ask for someone to use my wand on me.
Just confirming: was the regular attack a confirmed crit?
Perhaps we should go to the Mausoleum next?
Max Necrobie |
Max lets out a bellowing laugh and then moments later his shoulders sag amd he goes to one knee catching his breath and wincing at the acrid taste of golem breath. If there are any stray Pathfinders about, he stands tall again and exhorts them to take up arms and FIGHT! in the way only a 13' man with a giant katana-like sword can.
He looks at the golem, seeing if he can spot anything unusual about it.
Perception: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (17) + 18 = 35
About a minute later, if nothing happens in the interim he's returned to normal size, shaking his head after a heady draught of divine battle prowess.
Gaevus |
@Nathan: Thanks a ton for the reroll. You're a wandsaver. (And a lifesaver!)
"Don't mind me...." Gaevus murmurs as he guzzles down the remaining three Potions of Cure Moderate Wounds that he'd "liberated" from the party.
Healing (1x Potion of Cure Moderate Wounds): 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (1, 1) + 3 = 5
Healing (1x Potion of Cure Moderate Wounds): 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (1, 5) + 3 = 9
Healing (1x Potion of Cure Moderate Wounds): 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (8, 7) + 3 = 18
Fully reinvigorated by the potions (at full HP), Gaevus points with his scimitar. "Shall we head towards the Mausoleum then? Beware the traps there, it's easy to get your fingers caught...."

A dull hum emanates from Skyreach as the ground trembles, trees sway, and glass shatters. A moment later, most of Skyreach’s northwest tower tears free from the keep; however, rather than crash to the ground, a visible aura holds the structure aloft and causes it to float above the Grand Lodge. Even the shower of stone blocks floats, swirling around the airborne tower in a nimbus of speeding debris.
Genta |
Renyrd howls at the strange sight. "I know, I know," says Genta, letting her fox down. "That's the same direction as the mausoleum. Probably coincidence, but still. Let's go that way!" Genta says, starting to run.
Unless this new weirdness interrupts. I definitely support going to the mausoleum and smashing that challenge fast.
Max Necrobie |
Max looks astonished at the floating tower, stowing the nodachi and taking the Hammer back. He peers intently for a moment, as if memorizing something. "Mausoleum. Right, let's see what mayhem is in store there and make it damn sorry."
DrParty06 |
It takes you another 20 minutes to fight back through the chaos that has erupted across the grounds and increased with those gawking at the now detached tower, wondering how it is suspended in place. You arrive at the enormous, columned stone structure that is both temple and fortress. Two wings flank an open courtyard. The imposing structure is adjacent to a thick copse of trees.
Shattered statues and religious sculptures pertaining to death and the afterlife are strewn about the courtyard. Destruction has rained upon what was only recently re-built by the Society. Stone doors to the east seem to be barred closed. The bodies of two caretakers are slumped to the sides of the western double doors.
Roll20 is updated.
Genta |
"Oh, let me see!" exclaims Genta, hurrying over to examine the body of the nearest one and beckoning the wolverine to follow. "If they got killed because we wasted too much time arguing with that dwarf, I swear to Calistria..."
Genta examines the body to see what killed it, half-expecting it to jump up and attack her at any moment.
Heal: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21
If anybody wants to get in front of me, feel free to move me back.
Gaevus |
"Hm! Is it safe? Should I check the doors?" Gaevus starts heading carefully towards the double doors, intending to listen at them.
Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22 to listen while going up to and at the doors
I'm not sure what's going on with the dynamic lighting on Roll20, so I stopped well before the doors. Let me know if I'm able to continue moving.
Genta |
"They're still alive!" announces Genta. She pulls out her wand and gives each of the men a quick heal. "What happened here?" she asks them, urgently. Renyrd starts sniffing around, hoping to repeat his success as a detective.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Renyrd's Perception: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (5) + 20 = 25
DrParty06 |
The doors on the left side are closed, despite them not being there on the Roll20.
Both of the men wake up after Genta's healing, though the second appears to be very woozy.
The first one says, "Thank you. I thought we were done for. There were two teams of them. Aspis by the look of it. They ambushed us."
He quickly assesses his status, "Stole my keys. Must have gone inside. Still have these though."
He pulls two potions and two silvered vials from inside his cloak. "Lesser restoration, in case you need it, and an alchemical item that will make your weapon like adamantine. Sort of like a silversheen. Won't hurt things that are really hard though."
"There's a cache of emergency supplies in a closet by the dissection room. You're welcome to them, if you can secure the building."
Gaevus |
"Dissection room? Really?" Gaevus mouths as he nears the door and listens to it. If he hears nothing, he will motion everyone closer and push the door open, once the two men have found some measure of safety.
Do you guys mind if I take the adamantine-sheen?
DrParty06 |
When Gaevus opens the door, he gets a brief glance of someone casting a spell before everything around him (the blue outline) turns to a very thick mist that makes it nearly impossible to see and difficult to move, as solid fog

Gaevus |
I hope that people can move around a bit before I open the door--that was the point of the whole "motion everyone closer" thing.
"M-maybe I should stop opening doors...." Gaevus coughs through the cloud. "Genta, do you have any magic that can help with this, or should I just charge through?" Gaevus coughs again. "Or maybe standing here is a good idea for once? It-it'll go away eventually, right?"
Gaevus has no ranks of Spellcraft or Knowledge (arcana), so I don't think he knows what this is besides, well, a solid fog.
Genta |
Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (9) + 22 = 31
Identifies all spell effects that are in place
"No no no wait! I have a plan! Close the door, Gaevus! We'll get in another way!" Genta says through message. She pushes her way out of the fog, telling the wolverine to follow, but she moves away from the other door. Instead, she goes for the nearest non-fogged piece of wall. Can do this in one move action.
"I wasn't sure what I was going to use this spell for... sneaking in somewhere we weren't supposed to go, maybe." Genta admits. "Anyway. They've got our number if we go in through the main door, it's full of solid fog. So instead, I'll make a new entrance. Riiight... here!" And Genta casts passwall on the wall directly in front of her.
Possibly this will turn out to be a very bad idea! But, us walking in through solid fog to a nest of enemies to be killed is definitely a bad idea.
DrParty06 |
The wall opens in front of Genta as dim light from the frosted windows and the opening show a line of steel tables, lab equipment (medical and alchemical), and barrels of wash water. The area seems to be separated from the whole of the Mausoleum by a wall of bars. A door through the bars is barely visible to the south of the new opening.
Gaevus |
"I, uh, what?" Gaevus looks briefly confused. "Um, okay then!" Gaevus closes the door as ordered and starts stumbling in the direction of Genta's spell. He finds himself still stuck in the fog.
If you suggest he move quickly, Gaevus could use his Boots of Speed to gain some extra movement speed to move through the passwall opening, but you'd have to guide him, as he can't really see through the fog. His other move action has been devoted to undoing his mistake, which was opening the door in the first place!
Happy Turkey Day, everyone! Gaevus might be a little quiet today given the food in his mouth. I'll try to sign on briefly in the morning and at night.
DrParty06 |
Gaevus goes along with the plan, closing the doors and starting to move out of the dense fog.
From the other side of the opening, Genta hears, "There's someone here! They're not coming through the door now!"
Another voice yells out, "Get out of the hallway! I'll stop them wherever they are!".
She hears the sound of spell casting as a violet wall of fire appears in the hallway outside the bars, shedding more light into the room.

Gaevus coughs some more in the cloud. Over the message spell, he whispers, "Can we still get through? Or did that guy stop us?" I can't actually tell really well with the dynamic lighting, which is good!
Yitza |
"Ugh, that fog IS actually thicker than pea soup... And now it's going to be burned pea soup. Blech!"
She sneezes, but then starts singing to inspire the party.
"Fog's rollin' in off the East River bank
Like a shroud it covers Bleeker Street
Fills the alleys where men sleep
Hides the shepherd from the sheep
Voices leaking from a sad cafe
Smiling faces try to understand
I saw a shadow touch a shadow's hand
On Bleeker Street..."
Idly, she wonders where Bleeker Street is... but shrugs, because it is a good song.

Gaevus |
Gaevus coughs some more. "Genta, is there still a way we can get through your magic door thing to slash the bad guys?" I can't tell if we're entirely barred off or not.
Are we going to try to blitz our way through this and the last encounter before Saturday afternoon, or should we call it quits after this one? Are there other groups that are farther along than us? I'd be jealous if that were the case!
Max Necrobie |
Max frowns as he sees Gaevus open the door and soupy fog abruptly invades his personal space. He back-pedals until he's clear and sees most everyone off to the left with a new hole in the wall. He double-moves over that way , then through the passwall and by Kssaress, and sees the wall of violet fire before them
Gaevus |
Gaevus blunders through the remainder of the fog and ends up next to his allies. Clearing his throat, he asks, "Well, what do we do now? Those bars seem to be protecting us from that random wall of fire.... Do we have any way around this wall? Genta, can you or Renyrd do your magicky magic again?"
Gaevus prepares himself mentally in order to better regain panache. (Gaevus will take the Critical Focus feat using Martial Versatility again, in lieu of having any other useful actions.)
Afterwards, he looks at the bars, wondering if he might be able to squeeze through them.... How far apart are the bars? Would a tiny Gaevus (via the Wand of Reduce Person) be able to slip through?
EDIT: Wait, is Genta standing in front of a door?
Genta |
Genta lets a few people in front, then ducks into the passageway she created. "Oh, great. Who designed this place?"
Is that a door? Genta's action depends on if that's a door in front of her, and whether it's open or closed.
"Come on, through here! It's only a little fire," says Genta, reassuringly. She opens the door wide so that her friends can go through.
"Come on, this way! Cut the bars open if you need to!" she suggests to Max and Ksarress. "I'll get rid of the fire the moment you're about to step into it probably!" She doesn't want to dispel it too soon, for fear of another battlefield control spell being flung at them.
Genta readies an action to cast dispel magic on the wall of fire when one of her friends is about to step into it.
Dispel Magic: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
Fetch |
"Well, that's inconvenient. Ready to be small large Ivan, Ivan?" Fetch pulls out a wand of reduce person, and begins casting. Ivan squeezes through the door to a better position.
