Took the words right out of my mouth. I know Shisumo's active on the boards today, so I imagine he's started his magic for us. I can't wait!
(Sorry, there's a little Roylenna in me at the best of times.)

All right - sorry about not getting things up yesterday, I got called in to work early and didn't have time to get the thread started. (That's Christmas in retail, eh?) Everybody's characters look good, with one small exception -
- so we're ready to get things moving. If you don't have your background finished yet, that's fine, although I would like something from everyone as soon as you can get it, but we can work it in as we go. For now, might I suggest clicking on the Gameplay tab at the top of the page?

I have received a gift horse and, rather than looking it in the mouth, I'm going to go for a ride. I will be far from home and computer for the next ten days or so. Please bot Ellantera in my absence.
Talk to you soon!

I am totally just roleplaying with Shiv. If anyone wants to change who got the magic/mundane items feel free to bring it up here. I have no attachment to the ring or otherwise and will happily give it up if someone has better use for it. I'm kind of playing him as a "man of action" type.

The gift horse in question was a ticket to a Caribbean cruise on the Carnival Magic. We had several days at sea and stopped at Montego Bay (Jamaica), Georgetown (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands), and Cozumel (Mexico). We got to snorkel out to a shipwreck and hike to (and climb up!) a Mayan pyramid.
I know some of you are much more traveled than I am, so this might not sound like a big deal for you, but this was an absolutely amazing experience for someone that had never even been to the seashore. It's going to be very hard to return to reality...

Ok, I am totally confused. I thought I had tossed the magical gem to Uraisa on the way out since nobody claimed it. I even brought it up in this very discussion thread that we could change possession of it if anyone wanted to bring it up but, alas, silence. So, ok, Miet has the gem but why would we offer that over one of the mundane gems? Especially since it has been too powerful (thus valuable?) for any of our resident arcanists to identify?! I am at a loss but then again I am outside the negotiations.

That is accurate. I put it on my sheet and made a post about stowing it away for the time being. I sort of thought Miet was talking about one of the non magical gems, since I had the magical one.

OK. Let's just get past this and move on with the game. Let's just pretend that Miet offered one of the non-magical gems at first, and if that's not enough she went to Uraisa, and brought her into the conversation with the other gem. If not enough maybe she told the seer to wait a bit, she might have another option. If it is enough then problem solved and we move on to the plot.
I think with 8 players we have to be careful to come up with a balance of "moving the game along", and "Letting everybody play". Let's keep up more carefully with what each character has in their possession, and who we know. Maybe we should add a "loot" tab to someone's profile, and let them keep up with everything...??

I'm here too, but I'm not very useful in negotiations right now. Also this is about as far as we got in the previous campaign and it felt a bit weird to replay it, so I've been lurking for a while. When it comes to gathering information, Erwin might actually be a bit more useful.

Okay, so we've been going for a bit, and I think by now most everybody has gotten a grip on the pacing of the game. We are, however, rapidly closing in on the first serious fight of the campaign, and I'd like to make sure I have it calibrated to the actual number of players I've got. So if you could all ust check in and confirm that you're still onboard, I would appreciate it. Also, this does sort of serve as notice that more frequent posting will be appreciated in the next little bit, to keep the combat going. Thanks!

I don't think Ellantera's going to be the tactical one, but her player cannot resist. If I remember correctly, we have three overtly combat-style characters (Ellantera, Oscar, and Galyna, three character that do not appear to be combatants (Uraisa, Miet, and Kassandra, and a cleric - likely a combatant if necessary - to cover three doors, one of which will have some assistance from the fish that is Shiv. How about we split into teams of a warrior and a non-warrior for each door (I'm thinking Miet and Galyna aiding Shiv with the dockside) with the cleric working with a team on a 'land-entrance' door, probably the front. I think the tactically-minded Oscar might want to be where he can move to aid either of the other groups as necessary (the alley?), which leaves Ellantera around the front of the building (and likely farthest from teh excitement). I get the vibe that Uraisa might be more comfortable out of sight and away from the building, so maybe with Ellantera across the way? Leaving Kassandra with Oscar watching the alley.
Not going to hurt my feelings if that's tossed in the dustbin - it's completely off the cuff and just an effort to get the conversation started.

I'm going to assume that you're going with Ellantera's plan, but there is one small hiccup: Miet would need to maintain line of effect to her illusion, so she can't really take the rear approach if she's going to handle the illusion as well. Also, I need to know if she'd be hiding people in the alley beside the tavern (i.e., Oscar and his partner) or the team across the street watching the front door (Ellantera and Erwin, plus one more, it looks like). Once we get that settled, we'll get this party started.

How about Miet as Oscar's partner and Kassandra joins Galyna; or Galyna works dockside alone while Kassandra and Miet join Oscar.
I did not realize there was anyplace to hide across the street, thus my post about the street group being down a bit.

Happy anniversary. Have a great weekend :)
On a side note. It's going to be ponderous with eight people keeping any sort of momentum. I vote DMPC someone for a round if they haven't posted a response within 36(?) or 48(?) hours of the round starting. I usually can post daily but I know that isn't realistic for all. Of course this is dependent on how frequently Shisumo wants to post himself. Just my 2 cents.

I tend to agree as well, but I'm not pushing it as hard as I might, since it's the first real combat of the campaign and I imagine it's going to be a bit of a learning process for all of us. (I've certaily never done an 8 person PbP before, for instance.) I will likely start pushing harder on that end as we go forward, though.
And for the record, I usually post at least once every 36 hours; sometimes a lot more often, but rarely less.
