Naberius Belthrune |

I shouldn't have finished Naberius so early. The waiting is killing me! :P
Well, since we have time, I might buy some more equipment. My plan for him was to be practically bankrupt at the start, anyway. Are we allowed to purchase partially charged wands?
EDIT: Oh, I accidentally bumped the GM's announcement to the previous page! For posterity:
Since the servers were down a few days, recruitment is extended for 2 more days! Finalize your characters and await the selections!

Bjornhona |

Um...is it possible to still apply to the game, since there was an increase on the days permitted to submit a character?
Just a bit of background for me, and a question or two for the GM and other players. I have been playing Pathfinder for like 5 years, but always in person. I would be new to the Play by Post format, but I have done online roleplay sans dice-rolling for about 10 years. I am new to making characters on the forum here, but very familiar with making them in person and online with skeletons on writing-based sites. So, basically, would it be possible for me to join your game still with this in mind?
Secondly, what roles are in need of filling, so I can get a feel for the type of character I should make? I am going to read over the playbook. I would consider myself familiar with the Pathfinder universe, so I will take in to account the environment. n_n
Call me Bjorn please! Hello all. :]

Cato Archimboli |

@Bjorn: I think there's only been one divine caster class submitted so far, and I'm not sure if that person is still planning to try to join or not. Obviously, submit a character you would be interested in playing above all else, but if you're looking for the path of least competition, it's probably in the divine area.

The Black Devil |

Since the servers were down a few days, recruitment is extended for 2 more days! Finalize your characters and await the selections!
Thanks for that. Apparently they had to do some restore, also; changes I made to this profile were lost. I'll post again when it's presentable.
But, honestly? I'd chose six of the others before I'd get to Devil. Major competition.

Bjornhona |

Man, no matter where I post, there are always a ton of great characters in the works. It's rather intimidating, honestly, but I'm really eager to play Pathfinder since I am moving away from my group. :< I guess all I can do is try! I am thinking of making a cleric to Dispater as my initial idea, though the characters I build tend to develop rather zig-zaggy in terms of the final product. n_n;;;;
@The Black Devil - I like your character though! You have so many in your profile, wow! It's nice this site keeps track. n_n Hi! I'm Bjorn by the way!

GM The Shadow of Westcrown |

Yes, newcomers may make characters, though remember that fluff and the basics of crunch (Race/Class/Alignment/whatever Archetypes) are all that are needed, so don't keel over (The original saying was 'keel over', not 'kill over'!) trying to do an entire statblock unless you just want to.
Also, welcome Bjornhona! I hope that your initial foray into the threads is proving a pleasant experience! :)

JuanAdriel |

@Bjorn: from the other divine caster :)
A nice guide/tips for PBP, and you can use this as an example to see how to format your alias.

Joshua Grayson |

I am submitting Joshua Grayson here myself.
-A prayer, spoken at dawn on the day of his mothers passing
Joshua's story is not unheard of in Cheliax or even in Westcrown, though it does have a few twists. His mother was a salve from a far off land captured by raiders. She was bought by his father, a noble of Cheliax with 'exotic' tastes. The resulting union was Joshua, a lad with deep skin like his mothers and black hair like his fathers. And golden yellow eyes that reflected light like that of a cats.
He grew up the child of a slave, not a slave himself but certainly not a person in the eyes of true Cheliax citizens. His father, of course, denied his existence, and Joshua made the mistake of claiming to be the mans son only once. He learned his lesson. But he committed a worse crime then to be born to a slave, even worse then to be born a bastard.
The foul truth of his birth was that he was a tiefling. It was clear in those golden eyes of his or the black striped tail he had. Even if he could hide the latter the former let everyone know what he was. But those in the know, devil summoners and tieflings alike, knew he was something worse then a typical mistake with a devil. He was Rakshasa-Spawn, sharing the blood of creatures even devils were wary of. His father had a theory, made during the one time he had been allowed in his fathers study. The dark powers that the noble man wielded likely awoke the ancient heritage in Joshua. A mistake, nothing more, and one he has since learned to guard against.
And so Joshua grew up with even fewer friends then his birthright would have granted him. Even the tieflings of the city avoided him, out of fear, superstition, or the chance to finally look down on someone lesser. The young man found companionship where he could. A few thieves, a few former actors. It was lucky his mother was so devout and intent on passing her faith to her son or Joshua probably would have traveled a much less kind path.
In secret, she raised him not as a servant of Asmodeus but as a faithful of Sarenrae. In secret, she taught him the goddesses prayers and even more then that the Goddesses dance. For that was what she had been before being captured, an artist who danced. And finally, she passed on one more thing to Joshua. Her skill with a blade.
Since her death, Joshua has felt little need to return to his fathers home, and instead makes a simple living dancing in the streets to entertain others or picking the pockets of nobles who he feels have it coming. At least, during the day. At night this young man has an entirely different goal, one perhaps a little misguided but full of good intention. He wanders the streets covered by a heavy cloak, one that jingles when he wants it too, and a scimitar on his hip.
To those in need, that jingle of the ornaments on his cloak is a godsend. To the thieves and crooks and savage that would take advantage of the weak, it's a warning. He has to be careful of course. Getting caught or too entangled means earning the ire of his father. But he does what good he can in this hellish city.
But something new has come. Or perhaps something old. He hears talk in his favorite haunts of a Council thought destroyed, working its way into the shadows once more. At first he was worried they were simply another gang but the more he has learned, the more he wishes to join their cause and better this cruel city.
OOC- I will say this about the character, he's a little melodramatic. He does like to wander the streets at night and will help anyone being mugged or the like but it rarely comes to fighting and he's only been lucky enough to stumble upon such encounters a couple times. This isn't to detract from what he has done, but to make it clear that he's not quite a Batman or near there. At least not yet! XD
Standing at 6'2, and weighing 190, Joshua is a rather thin and tall individual. One would think that was enough to make him stand out but it seems the gods disagree. They gave him his mothers rich dark skin, his fathers soft black hair, and an ancestors golden eyes that shine in the dark.
He is a tiefling of an unusual kind and that means he has some unusual features. Aside from the golden eyes, he has a long tiger like tail, striped black and gold. More often then not it's curled around his waist looking like a very fancy and fine belt. His lower half is also often hidden in heavy, baggier clothing with long boots to hide the fact that it is not what it seems.
His legs are bent backward in a fashion that would seem painful to those not born with it, covered in fur matching his tail, and rather then feet he has paws at the end with claws. Learning how to walk in boots has always been a trouble for Joshua, so he revels in the nights where he can kick them off and move with the feline grace that comes so naturally to him.
To distract from his nature and his tendency to pick pockets, Joshua wears gaudy clothing he purchased in the market. It is in the fashion of his mothers homeland, but it is the kind of imitation that is more myth then truth. Joshua plays up his dark skin and eerie eyes to earn more attention while he's dancing. And at night he lets his fancy clothing and heavy, ornamented cloak distract from the silent blade hidden in the many folds of cloth.
Traits- Infernal Bastard, Dancer of the Sun (Maestro of the Society)

Joshua Grayson |

Joshua is now done. I updated his background, his contacts are now actually there, and I added a bit more besides in other places. I would ask that when you judge the character, please use the stuff in this profile rather then my first post.
I'm not quite sure where to classify him on that list. He's got martial skill, a little bit of Arcane magic, a little bit of healing, and lots of skill points. XD
Crunch wise he's nearly complete. I'm working out his gold count, I think everything else is done.
Edit: Man, Joshua's Backstory feels small in comparison to some of what I've written. His story is more about what will unfold in the game though, rather then things that happened before it.

Aurelia Reeveponte |

I'd like to submit my character, Aurelia Reeveponte, for evaluation and potential acceptance. I still have to do my feats, but her fluff is finished as well as most of her crunch; you can definitely get a feel for her if you click my Alias link. This is Bjornhona, by the way. :3 I have to go get my oil changed and do a few more errands, but I got 'er done for the most part.

Cato Archimboli |

Thanks for the list, Dax. It sure is arcane in here... :P
To be fair, bards are arguably "skilled" classes. I suppose slayers as well. It's really getting hard to group classes what with all the archetypes and hybrid classes.
I should have my backstory updated by tonight. Exams, etc. are slowing me down a bit.

Joshua Grayson |

Not to mention Martial characters can mean different things too. There are those who are skilled at damage, defense, or maneuvers that allow for different cool things. Which can all also be broken up as well. Same for Arcane, Divine and Skilled characters. Arcane and Divine can be controllers, they can be party buffers, and so on. Skilled characters can be focused on Stealth, Nature, Social Skills, Traps.
In the end it makes it neater to divide it simply by their most basic attributes but it doesn't really classify them in any way.
For instance, Joshua isn't a typical bard. His abilities won't serve to buff a group or provide versatile spell casting. His strength lies in combat, Stealth, Acrobatics, Sleight of Hand and Social skills. His magic will let him do what he does better. So I'd probably ask to have him listed as a skilled character or martial one.

Joshua Grayson |

That does make it a little harder since it would require every applicant being clear about their intent from the start to organize. It's why the roles used are the simplest to use for organization.
In the end I don't think it will matter much either. The DM let us make pretty powerful characters so whatever group he picks, be it a group of bards or a group of rogues, could hold their own. He seems to like story. So lets not pester Dax too much about the list. XD She really helped us out and it'd be rude. I was just musing to myself mostly.

Joshua Grayson |

Alright! Joshua is now down, save for, again, some small coinage choices. I redid his background. Its essentially the same, but provides more detail, depth and weight to the things that he grew up with. I also added a bit to his contacts to flesh them out and explain why he has continued relationships with them and his father got a big ole creepy speech in the middle of the background that sums up the character very well. His contact section got a better description too.

William Silverheart |

Dotting for interest. Had a CoT that died, and would love to get in on another one.
The original character I played is the one based on this alias, though adjustments would have to be made for the character building requirements.
I can rebuild him to suit the game requirements. I actually joined the game late, sometime during late book 1 early book 2, so I don't really know where my experience comes in at playing before.
William's basic concept is in the alias, and I can expound on it a little more given time.
I also had an idea for a divine based character, which it seems like there is a lacking of, and if I had a day, I could probably get at least the base build of the character done. The basic idea being a man/woman of faith that has been tasked with instigating the downfall of the church of asmodeus's iron grip on the people of westcrown, and to try and topple the hold on Cheliax as best they can. could have something up about this time tomorrow.

![]() |

I'm at work and will update the list once I arrive home.
Two small points, though. First, I'm a guy. I just really like that avatar. Second, I agree that the categories are not accurate. I had considered using hybrid categories (arcane/martial, arcane/skilled, divine/martial, and divine/skilled). There would still be room for some arbitrary decisions on category depending on archetype and build, like the Dervish Dancer Bard, while being more accurate. Perhaps I'll give it a try this time.

Mera Wist-Thrune |

Holy crap this thread got hot today! To pile on, grats to Dax for all the compilation work.
So GM, you're taking a party of 16-18 people for this adventure, right? Perhaps maybe run three tables??? :) Man this is quite the list of folks!
We have plenty of people to have various categories, that's for sure...
