Shackled City (Pathfinder) - GM_Chris

Game Master Chris Shannon 719

This will be the Shackled City adventure path using the Pathfinder rule set. However, the existing deities (i.e. St. Cuthbert, Pelor, Wee Jas) will not be converted to similar Golarion gods.

"Look out, I think he's surrounded by a stinking cloud!"

Dr. Toffitt feels a moment of panic rush through him, but breathes and channels it into a controlled rage (i.e., Controlled Rage). He holds his breath, grateful to have trained his lungs to need so little air.

He then strikes out at the ogre.

The world's weakest crit...

He curses in Giant as his rapier strikes true. "I suggest making room for Finneas to embiggen and stand arears.. He's a much fairer giant than this hankwart."

*Edit* For now, though, I'll make room for Silfr or Glimmil. He steps back to K38.

Round 1
Silfir (synth)(L,39) = 20 - Still to act
Dyrant (K,42) = 16 - Hexes ogre 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 - ogre fails; moves to K,42

And the earthquake hits. Just a 3.6, but only a few miles away, and I'm on the 9th floor of a building only retrofitted to the 5th.

Eek, not our GM! Assuming Silfr doesn't kill it or accomplish the same thing...

"Let me get it's attention! These bigguns hit hard!" Glimmil looks on with worry at Finneas.

"Come on, Coggy!"

Handle Animal (Ride DC10): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

As Glimmil and Cog ride up to where the doctor stood, Glimmil looks up at the large snarling humanoid.

"You! You look like a big sissy who couldn't hit a gnome if you tried!"

Hopefully the ogre realizes I'm talking to him and Finneas doesn't think my taunt was meant for him!

Glimmil fights defensively, improving his AC to 24 and hoping the ogre swings back at him.

Glimmil Attack (hammer, defensively): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Oh, our friend, St. Pebble! I'll roll to confirm then.. probably not. Too bad we don't have someone who can debuff his armor :)

Atol (L,40) = 7 - Strength surge to Finneas
Elemental (L,39) - Emerges from wall and misses Glimmil
Glimmil/Cog (K,39)(19 damage) = 5 - Misses

Dyrant brings St. Cuthbert's curse down upon the ogre and then retreats back. Finneas fails in his first attempt as the rear guard, but Toffitt takes advantage of the situation and stabs the ogre well before creating space. Silfir steps up and strikes the ogre hard.

The ogre rages, "Food is not supposed to bite back," and swings his falchion at Silifr, but misses.

Atol gives Finneas a surge of strength and backs away from the ogre.

Glimmil waits for an opening, but then a new target emerges. The earth elemental steps out of the wall and swings at him. Glimmil and Cog fight back, but both miss.

1d2 ⇒ 1 - Silfir or Finneas

While I do not begrudge his religious fervor, our efforts would be magnified if he could channel it into powerful effects on our opponents. Perhaps you could teach him spells that strike these foes with a fear of St. Cuthbert, and so confound their ability to attack us, or properly defend themselves. Such powers are not as flashy as a quick blade, but have a multiplicative effect on our own efforts, and so become as strong as us all combined. A putrid stench fills your nostrils. The rectangular chamber beyond is splattered wall-to-wall with filth, bile, bones, and other disgusting remains. Glimmil hops off Cog and leans over to inspect and open the chest.

Glimmil will inspect the chests for traps, and finding only a lock he will take 20 to pick it.

Is anyone going in the room besides Glimmil and Cog?

The chest appears safe to Glimmil. He spends several minutes and bends a couple spoons in his attempts, but the lock will not open for him. Sounds of repeated facepalms echo from the hallway.

"I have the keys? Oh, I see. Let me dig them up then."

Atol digs through his pack looking for some keys that apparently he put in there just moments ago. After a little digging he finds them and joins Glimmil. He carefully tries each key in the lock.

What a foul stench. Would it be that St. Cuthbert would grant us Prestidigitation!

Atol wades through the garbage. He takes a step and is sure something is grabbing onto his leg, but looks down to see it is only the hide of some mangled animal. He kicks it off and gets to the chest. He inserts the key, turns the key and opens the chest to find a pile of copper and silver along with two deep green spinels. Atol shifts the wealth into his sack and quickly wades back out of the room. There he spends a couple minutes with create water carefully cleaning himself off before proceeding, damply, into the next room.
