Lolz.
I don't know how you remembered this Chris, nice catch.

Wow, you all have been busy. Sorry to leave you hanging.
I would like to make sure we keep one dose of any elixir or lvl 2 or 3 potion for Toffitt. His Alchemical Allocation elixirs basically allow him to use them as a potion library.
Would also like to get certain scrolls that are on his list—to be copied into his formulae book.
So for Toffitt:
potion of clairaudience/clairvoyance Keeping? - Sell.
scroll of cure moderate wounds Keeping? - Keep, Dyrant?
potion of cure moderate wounds
slippers of spider climbing (although I'll happily take the cloak if finneas does not want)
elixir of hiding
Will catch up on other posts and note my wish list by tomorrow afternoon.
Doctor Abner Svengalu Toffitt |
Ok, here is a wish list, in order of priority:
2,000 +1 to dueling blade
1,000 cloak of resistance +1
570 scrolls of invisibility, barkskin, lesser restoration + materials to learn
40 materials to transcribe cure moderate wounds from scroll
750 potion of heroism
He will then want to craft some potions:
300 lesser restoration x 2
75 invisibility x 1
150 barkskin x 2
After that, his next magic items on the docket will be:
1,000 +1 to mithril shirt
2,000 handy haversack
Doctor Abner Svengalu Toffitt |
And might as well get rolls out of the way for learning those scrolls. Come on luck...
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26 Cure Mod. Check
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18 Invisibility. Check
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21 Barkskin. Check
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15 Lesser Restore. Uncheck
Sigh. Let's add another scroll of lesser restore (unless Atol would like to have scrolled the first and the second, in which case it's just another 40 gp for materials to learn).
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14 Lesser Restore. Uncheck
Me not like. Atol, mind scribing one more scroll?
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20 Lesser Restore. Check!
Sometimes book learnin is expensive.

Doctor Abner Svengalu Toffitt |
Yes, thanks Chris! Won't it take another 12,000 to finish the campaign? :-p My fingers are tired just thinking about it...
Doctor Abner Svengalu Toffitt |
I think I miscalculated the potions of lesser restore. Should have been 150 to craft two. Also not sure, Chris, whether you were open to Atol writing the scrolls Toffitt was using to learn.
Doctor Abner Svengalu Toffitt |
Let's total all that again...
2,000 +1 to dueling blade
1,000 cloak of resistance +1
300 scrolls of invisibility, barkskin; used to learn
225 scrolls of lesser restoration (3); used to learn
200 materials to learn
40 materials to transcribe cure moderate wounds from scroll
750 potion of heroism
150 potions of lesser restoration x 2
75 potion of invisibility x 1
150 potions of barkskin x 2
=5190 gp
531.54 gp remaining

Day 18 - Page 94
Recap of awesome.
I'm still enjoying the heck out of this PbP and recaps like this make it all worth it.
Thanks again, GM Chris.
Doctor Abner Svengalu Toffitt |
Toffitt spends some time with his patients and Carts or not. I think you're more interested in playing both sides of this one whereas I've been playing Skie for Glimmil.
No, I'm just trying to leave room for you to have your say in where it's going. I could just narrate where it's going, but not sure if you want to incorporate it into some other plans.
Still, as fans of Tyrion Lannister will note, falling in love with a sex worker can be tricky business.

Doctor Abner Svengalu Toffitt |
Chris, what's the cost for a simple storefront that might fit an alchemist's lab and small consulting room?
GM_Chris |
Being lazy I'll refer to my old post.
- A longtime unrented one-story shop space across from the Drunken Morkoth Inn on Obsidian Ave. It's about twice as large as Ghelve's and has a "retail" space in the front and a back room. Rent is 3 gp per day.
Revised price is 2 gp/day. 60 gp/month. Available for purchase for 2 years rent 1440 gp. No garden space, but the roof is flat and you could put pots up there.
Doctor Abner Svengalu Toffitt |
I see. I am rethinking some of his purchases. I think I'd like to have him buy:
200 gp Alchemist's lab
180 gp Three months rent
100 gp healer's kit x 2 (likely just used up as part of business)
Rather than the 200 gp of free services.
That leaves him with 51.54 gp. Spendthrift that I am...
Toffitt will be charging for services from some of the more moneyed scoundrels he sees, and offering a certain amount of pro-bono care. He'll also make his alchemical services available, but only of the non-combative variety unless the buyer is clearly good. I suppose this represents his basic income for living, with perhaps a bit extra to take care of an under-employed hustler turned artiste/barber in training...
To the party: happy to craft potions of barkskin, invisibiilty, CMW, etc. for anyone with the coin who is interested.

Holy piddlespot!
We *chose* to resurrect that?!?!
We take it back!

Dyrant holds the first book up and reads the title aloud.
"Wizards and Sorcerers. Seekers of knowledge or conduits of the arcane?, by Zurisatro "Zees" Mandurkin." Dyrant stares at the book for a moment. "I'll read this one last. Not likely to be much intelligent meat therein."
What a bunch of claptrap this is likely to be.
Dyrant debates just throwing the book in the fire, but instead just puts it aside.
And that wound had almost scarred over.

It's still painful.
But now more funny.
Doctor Abner Svengalu Toffitt |
Such a funny crew. Chris, can we all take a teamwork feat that allows us to collectively cast hideous laughter on our foes?
GM_Chris |
@ Toffitt:
The Surprise Round: If some but not all of the combatants are aware of their opponents, a surprise round happens before regular rounds begin. In initiative order (highest to lowest), combatants who started the battle aware of their opponents each take a standard or move action during the surprise round. You can also take free actions during the surprise round. If no one or everyone is surprised, no surprise round occurs.
It's comedy at this point, but drawing a potion, drinking a potion, and drawing a sword? Really?
Doctor Abner Svengalu Toffitt |
As far as I am aware, it's just a standard action for an alchemist to drink a mutagen or extract—similar to casting a spell.
And he has quick draw. :-)

I learned something new today. :)
I didn't know they had what amounts to an exception to the rules. Tiabrar appreciates the knowledge.Glimmil |
Speaking of luring monsters...
From my earlier commend, I never posted which of the 2 spells Glimmil swapped for Divine Favor since he now has that on a scroll thanks to Atol.
I was leaning towards Challenge Evil (and not Knight's Call which would've forced the monster to come towards us).
One other thought, since we have a week of downtime, is Glimmil might see if Atol would consider scribing some scrolls that Glimmil could tuck into his belt for emergencies.
Glimmil might even approach Dyrant first about these scrolls, since he sees Dyrant with paper so often >:)
Divine Favor and Liberating Command are two he'd love to have on emergency scrolls.
I'm looking at Knight's Call or Challenge Evil as the 1st level spell Glim would pray to Ol' Glittergarl for each day - I haven't seen those APG paladin spells used yet.
Glimmil would start praying for Challenge Evil for his lone 1st level slot.
I don't think it's going to come to play in this fight, but if there's no objection I'm going to update Glimmil's sheet as if he prayed for this spell instead of Divine Favor today?
Also if we get at least a couple hours of down-time after this fight, Glim's purchasing a small masterwork lance. :)
Glimmil |
Glimmil stops by Skie's to sell the party's goods, check on a belt of giant strength, and perhaps stay a long lunch. Skie takes him to a back room to check for a belt. They spend a long time looking for the belt and come back sweating.
Incidentally, I forgot to LOL about this.
Toffitt acts in the surprise round. It's likely everyone has at least a main weapon with them, but they are not likely to be dining in plate mail. If you think your character is a chain shirt or similar all day long type of person that's fine.
I also forgot to remark on this. Strangely, I think Glimmil does polish up his armor every morning and parade around Cauldron in it trying to be a visible hero of the Cauldron Five. He doesn't sleep in it since it tends to tangle up and tear the sheets on his bed at his parent's place, although sometimes I wonder if Glimmil would sleep in his armor while he dreams of knightly deeds if he didn't get all sore the next day.
As an actual knight (Sir Glimmil the Brave!) I imagine he takes all his meals in plate. :)
On a last note, I'm sure he doesn't have the magic belt yet - what about the enchant on the hook-hammer by this day? (since likely next round he'll be dropping the lance and I'm not sure what else he has on his person)
