Sharmain was born and raised on Absalom Station. Her curiosity about other races made her a natural candidate for the Starfinder Society. Less charismatic than many Lashunta, Sharmain is naturally quiet and conservative, even a little timid.
Her first assignment with the Society though placed her with a supportive team who helped her find her footing. She now better understands the importance of music and dance both for team morale and for assisting communications when no other shared language is available. She has added these subjects to the list of those she should study in her free time and wonders what her theme song will eventually be. Similarly, although her experience as a secondary gunner was a positive one, Sharmain believes that the study of computers may be in her future as she wishes to be a more versatile starship crew member.
For a little more depth to her character, please feel free to read through her botting instructions.
Sharmain met Zac during her first assignment and is happy to be working with him again. Katrina and Richard have known each other for years. He helped drag her back into RPGs, she recently dragged him to his first Starfinder game then introduced him to PbP.

Aldane was born on the Idari and trained to be an adata—one of the scholarpriests who oversee the preservation of thin slices of the brains of deceased kasathas. Yet while Aldane was an excellent scholar, he had trouble focusing on a single topic for long, and his research inevitably wandered into unrelated sidetracks. One of Aldane’s more sympathetic teachers felt his wandering focus could be brought into line with training in the philosophy of the Cycle, the guiding philosophy of the solarians. Aldane was accepted as a student into a prestigious cosmonastery and taught to draw strength and focus from the endless repetition of celestial creation and destruction. He took to the training immediately, and was soon allowed to take on guard shifts at the ship’s famed Sholar Adat.

A young good-looking man walks in wearing tan well used practical clothing. Covering his long hair is a sweat-stained wide-brimmed hat with a few rips in different places. He has an easy free gait giving off an aura of juvenile enthusiasm and curiosity. With a smile, he tips his hat, "Kato's the name. Starfinder by day, treasure hunter by nature. If you find your self in strange lands, out of water and food, surrounded by strange tentacled beasts, do as I say and you will be just fine.' He gives you a wink and a smile. "My old dad taught me everything I know, except the guns. I taught that myself. We went across the vast as often as an old Ysoki adventure tells the same tale at the synthesized juice bar. I'm pretty hand with a ship and ain't so bad with a computer. While exploring a lost outpost, I did manage to outmanoeuvre a living ship and disable defensive droids."

A halfling strides in and sits down like he owns the place. He wears colorful freebooter armor that looks brand new, a bright blue cape, and a wry smile. He leans back in his chair and puts his feet up on the table, Odo Tosscobble here. They say I'm a natural born leader so just stay in front of me, and I'll never lead you astray.
During Starship combat he can play the roles of Captain, Engineer, or Science Officer.

Overseer Tyranius |

And so it begins!
First Seeker Elsebo Luwazi clears her throat and makes an announcement to all of the gathered Starfinders as they slowly trickle in. “Starfinders, we stand at the precipice of momentous history, and I want to thank you all for making it possible for us to be here today. The Starfinder Society has spent the last year recovering from the Scoured Stars incident, our greatest defeat in recent history. We are finally ready to return to the Scoured Stars, find out what happened to our missing colleagues and friends, and rescue any survivors we can find. Report to your stations and lend your assistance to our fleet by performing the final preparatory tasks. More instructions will come shortly.”
Table GM's. You are good to go on the introductions and preparation.

GM bigboom |

A bit of context: Luwazi has gathered up enough resources and information to launch a new Starfinder fleet to the Scoured Stars to find out what happened to the previous expedition. You are a part of that fleet.
After a long voyage through the Drift, the bulk of the Starfinder fleet has arrived at the outer reaches of the Scoured Stars system. Several immense carriers form the core of the fleet and contain docked transport ships, fighter craft, and scout vessels. Each of the stored ships contains armor, weapons, provisions, and other equipment. There is an almost palpable feeling of tension and excitement as hundreds of Starfinders aboard the central carriers prepare themselves for the mission. Ahead, a shimmering veil of golden energy conceals the three stars known to be within.
Venture-Captain Naiaj (depicted in the slides), a no-nonsense bleachling gnome, approaches with a datapad in hand. “Do you have all your gear? Are you ready? Good. Now let’s help our fleet get ready for the final journey into the Scoured Stars. But first, tell me your names and what special training you have so we can assign an appropriate task for you to assist with.”
Now is a good time for any additional introductions and last minute purchases. Also take this moment to slot your Boons. It is recommended to slot the First Skirmish Boon from Starfinder Society: On the Trail of History if you have it.

![]() |

Sharmain is fascinated by the view of the golden barrier they face. Looking around at the bustle of activity and the important figures addressing them, Sharmain feels very small and insignificant. Why am I here? she wonders, I know we each have our part to play, I just don't really understand what my role is or how I can really make a difference. Buck up! she adds to herself, they would not have chosen you to come if there was not a purpose and you did ok with your last mission. Follow the lead of the more experienced Starfinders and you should do ok.
When it is Sharmain's turn to answer Venture-Captain Naiaj, she speaks clearly yet with a soft, sweet voice. "I am Sharmain, I mostly provide support to my teammates. As a mystic, I have some healing abilities, some telekinetic abilities, and a few other such skills. Should the need arise I have some basic experience with starship guns and with piloting. I have been studying to meet and identify rare and new creatures and peoples. I am also blessed with the ability to cope well in the vast joy that is space."
Sharmain then steps aside to allow others their turn.

GM bigboom |

Everyone please go ahead and continue with your introductions, shopping, and boon-slotting. I'll continue with the post below just to keep things moving. As with all specials, we're operating on a time limit so I'll try to keep the scenario going at a reasonable pace!
"Very good. Now, each of the Venture-Captains are engaged in various preparations. Each of you are to report to a Venture-Captain to assist." And with that she walks off.
Venture-Captain Naiaj, Venture-Captain Arvin, and the faction leaders Fitch, Historia-7, Radaszam “The Dealmaker”, and Zigvigix can be seen gathering groups around the ship, assigning tasks to help with the preparations. Time to get a move on and lend a hand!!
A map of the ship you're on with each of the VC has been unmasked in the slides. You may each visit a VC alone or multiple characters can team up to visit a VC together to provide aid another checks. Don’t roll just yet. This spoiler is just to give an idea of which skill check will be helpful when visiting each VC. Bear in mind that during this preparation phase, each character can roll only once.
- Historia-7 (Diagnostics on the Bridge)- Computers, Engineering, Perception or Profession (Electrician)
- Venture Captain Naiaj (Engine Check in the Hangar Bay)- Engineering, Piloting, or Profession (Electrician or Maintenance worker)
- Radaszam (Equipment Check in the Cargo Bay)- Engineering, Medicine, Perception, Survival)
- Zigvigix (Missile Tube Cleanup in the MIssile Bay)- Acrobatics, Athletics, Profession (Maintenance worker)
- Venture-Captain Arvin (Morale Boost just outside of the Bridge)- Bluff, Diplomacy, Profession- relevant skill, Sense Motive
- Fitch (Threat Analysis in the Science Lab)- Engineering, Life Science, Mysticism
Everyone, let me know which VC you decide to visit and if more than one of you visit the same VC, please tell me who will be the lead and who will be the aid.

A young male Ysoki, carrying various bags steps up to the group and says. “Hello, I’m Zac. I’m an engineer and computer guy. This is my third mission for the pathfinders, and I’m looking forward to it!”
Zac then moves heads for the bridge too help Historia-7 with the systems checks.

![]() |

Kato thanks VC Naiaj as he takes his leave. "I am going to help out VC Radaszam in the Cargo bay. We need to make sure we are fully prepared for anything beyond the golden shell. Who knows what happened to the previous fleet, but I don't intend to have the same fate. Anybody joining me?" He waits for anyone from the group heading to the Cargo bay. On the way he tells an animated story about how he was on TV for a live action exploration into the depths of an ancient moon.

![]() |

Sharmain looks to Kato, "I am happy to assist or accompany if you desire though I think my skills are better suited to Fitch's domain."
Action at last, she thinks to herself, this should help those nerves. It is always better to have direction.

GM bigboom |

Naiaj replies to Aldane, "You are to report to the Venture Captain whom you would like to assist with preparations before the fleet travels further. It is up to you which Venture Captain you will report to."
I'm going to follow a rule that is beneficial to the party while also possibly speeds up PBP: When multiple party members roll a skill check whereby someone leads and the others aid, I'll just go ahead and take the highest roll as the lead and the rest as the aid. So no need for you guys to specify who is the lead.
So far, I have Zac going to Historia-7, Odo to Arvin, and Kato to Radaszam.

Sharmain to Fitch

Earlier:
A door beeps open and a small child walks into the room looking absolutely & thoroughly lost. The boy seems to be close to tears as he looks around at the team.
"Ca...ca...can you h-h-help meeee? I don't know where I am."
There is a long pause before the figure straightens, the tears stop and boys age seemingly melts away revealing a much older figure - though still mostly the same size. The boy is a Halfling! One of the less common races on Absalom station.
"So.....how'd I do?"
He bows and introduces himself... "Twik, Corporate Spy Extraordinaire. Apologies for the delay. I had to rush over here from my previous mission - you know, the usual sort of stuff, alien slime turning people into zombies. Routine stuff really."

![]() |

Is there any benefit in us spreading out and having someone visit them all?
"All the spy stuff can get a bit tedious at times so to get back into the grove, I need a bit of exercise. I'll take Zigvigix i think"
Because Acrobatics has his larger modifier and noone else has picked him yet

GM bigboom |

Naiaj cracks a smile at the halfling's antics. "You did well," she says. "Well enough that I was about to call over some guards and have you safely confined to quarters while I rip into whomever was responsible for letting a child on board! Glad I won't have to do that, however!"
Without revealing much, I'll say that spreading out preparations will make you more prepared across multiple functions (breadth) but possibly not as deep in any one function. Whereas focusing on just a few areas will possibly get you more deeply prepared in those areas. But of course, the dice will have a say in it as well!
We have Zac going to Historia-7, Odo to Arvin, Kato to Radaszam, Sharmain to Fitch, and Twik to Ziggy.
Aldane, I just realized your previous post may be intended to indicate you'll help Naiaj with her preparations? Let me know if I'm incorrect!

![]() |

Aldane, I just realized your previous post may be intended to indicate you'll help Naiaj with her preparations? Let me know if I'm incorrect!
yes Aldane will go to Naiaj

GM bigboom |

Zac heads over to Historia-7, leader of the Dataphiles. She shows you the carrier ship’s science station on the bridge. “Thank you for your assistance. Once we jump into the Scoured Stars, we will need to scan the system to locate any survivors from the previous expedition. Please check connections and run tests on the ship’s computers to ensure the sensors, comms, and other critical systems are running without glitches.”
---------------------------
Venture-Captain Naiaj takes Aldane to the hangar bay. “All right, let’s get to work. See all these ships here? Work with the chief engineer to check the engines of these transports, fighters, and scout ships, and help her make any necessary adjustments.”
---------------------------
Radaszam, leader of the Acquisitives, waits for Kato in the cargo bay. “As you’ve probably surmised, things might get hairy once we’re in the Scoured Stars. Ain’t no glamor in this task, but it’s important—check these weapons, armor, medical supplies, and survival gear, and replace any faulty gear so we all might just make it back home alive.”
---------------------------
Twik meets with Zigvigix, leader of the Exo-Guardians, in the missile bay. “Hey! Thanks for showing up! I’ve got a special mission just for you! See those missile tubes? I need them checked to make sure that there’s nothing obstructing missiles from being launched, so could you climb or crawl in and have a look? I’m pretty sure it’s safe and we won’t accidently fire you into space!”
---------------------------
Venture-Captain Arvin briefs Odo in the access corridor just outside the bridge. “Many Starfinders, especially newer recruits, fear what might await us in the Scoured Stars. Talk to your colleagues and see if you can lift their spirits. You have my permission to be creative— pep talks, jokes, or playing some music through the comm system are each valid options.”
---------------------------
Her nose and whiskers twitching, Fitch, leader of the Wayfinders, reads something on a large screen in the science lab while her children operate other consoles and devices. “Hey, can you help me with something?" says Fitch to Sharmain without looking away from the screen. "What we have here is a database built from references to creatures in travelers’ logs and fragments of communication signals that were sent from the Scoured Stars before the force field appeared. Sift through the info and take notes on what kind of threats we might face.”
Fitch then pats one of her nearby children on the shoulder. “See this red guy here, Kirkath? Your notes should be: This is a balor demon, if you see one… RUN!”
---------------------------
Alrighty, now everyone describe what you do to fulfill your respective Venture Captain's request, then give me a skill roll. Feel free to be as descriptive as you want and to take liberties - making things up to suit your description!

"Yes VC Radaszam. There is nothing worse than bringing faulty equipment into the field. I go over each piece like the slime on the back of an Akitonian space frog." He then begins inspecting each crate one at a time. He picks up a laser rifle, opens it up to check the calibration of the focusing crystals, ensures the sights are true, puts it back together and gives it a polish with the back of his sleeve. He continues with each one then moves to the batteries, counting the charges in each one and putting the incomplete ones aside for a technomancer transfer together. He continues in this manner silently and working systematically to cover all the gear. When he finds faulty equipment, he will repair it if it is a quick and easy repair otherwise he replaces it with a fresh one from storage. He does find quite a few expired medicine vials in the medical gear. Those meds always go bad. They cost the four arms of a Kesatha and we always just throw them out. But I know I want to be fresh when I need them.

Odo smiles and nods at Arvin. He picks up the com and starts, "Good day Starfinders and welcome to the outer reaches of the Scoured Stars System! These are exciting times and each and every one of you are a part of it. I know that some of your may be nervous or scared, and frankly you have every right to be. The unknown is scary, it's OK to be scared. But remember each of you were chosen to be here for a reason. Each of you has a special skill set to make you an integral part of the team. And each and every one of you has greatness inside of you waiting to be unleashed. As I said earlier, these are exciting times! So take that nervousness, that fear and turn it into excitement! We are on the edge of greatness! And we're all part of it together!" Odo puts the com down and smiles back at Arvin.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 + 1d6 ⇒ (12) + 8 + (4) = 24

GM bigboom |

Radaszam smiles at Kato's colorful simile. Once Kato is done, Radaszam thanks Kato for a job well done and offers the following:
Equipment Check
Once during the scenario, each PC can requisition a weapon with an item level equal to the PC's level +1. The weapon comes with a fully charged battery or magazine. The PCs may keep the weapon for the duration of one mission.
In addition to the above, each PC can also requisition a single consumable item with a level equal to the PC's level. These consumables cannot have permanent effects and maybe kept for the duration of the scenario, not just a single mission.
--------------------------------
Arvin nods approvingly at Odo's uplifting words. The overall morale improves and your party can be assured of support from allies when the going gets rough, granting you the following perk:
Morale Boost
Once during the adventure, when the party uses an aid token, the party gets two benefits instead of one, but not the same effect twice.
--------------------------------
The chief engineer, seeing that Aldane isn't familiar with the latest engine models currently running says, "Don't worry about it Aldane. Some of my own team aren't familiar with these newer models. Thanks for the attempt but don't worry, I've got other engineers who can complete the checks."

Sharmain produces a reassuring smile for Kirkath and a determined nod for Fitch then takes her place before the large screen. She inhales slowly and deeply then exhales just as deliberately. She establishes a pattern of mindful breathing while also ritualistically relaxing all non-required muscles throughout her body. She offers a silent prayer to Desna, reaches her mind out to the universe at large connecting with the energies of life that manifest in space and allows the data to freely enter her subconscious so that any connections between bits may present themselves to her conscious mind. This is a delicate task that cannot be forced.
Mysticism: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

Zac replies to Historia-7’s instructions with an: “Aye Aye!”.
He then goes over to the sensor systems, starts opening panels, and running diagnostics on the equipment.
Hmmm, emitters looks OK, phase shifters are all in alignment, good. Power supplies operating at spec. Looks good.
Zac them moves to the comm systems and give them a check.
Lets see, frequency generators OK, receivers check out, antenna connections, good. No problems I can see here.
Zac continues going from system to system running checks...
Engineering: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17

Overseer Tyranius |

Suddenly, every screen aboard the Starfinder fleet switches to show nominated First Seeker Luwazi Elsebo standing next to a golden obelisk about two feet in height. Behind her, a large observatory window showcases the Godshield, a shimmering force field surrounding the Scoured Stars system. Luwazi Elsebo slowly lifts her eyes from the artifact and addresses the Society.
“Starfinders, this is the Tear, an ancient artifact some of our most skilled agents recovered during a recent mission. The Tear is our key back to the Scoured Stars—our key to liberating those who were lost a year ago. We are ready, so let’s not waste any more time.”
Luwazi Elsebo speaks a few words in an alien language and the artifact start humming softly. She then traces her finger along the artifact’s surface, and a set of glowing runes appear around the obelisk. The golden field surrounding the Scoured Stars starts twisting upon itself, and massive gashes appear as the force field starts tearing itself apart. As the final shreds of the shimmering field evaporate, Elsebo speaks: “It is time. Good luck, Starfinders. Fleet—activate Drift engines! Go!”
One by one, the ships of the fleet pierce the veil between the Material Plane and others, splashing through space like it was water, and then vanish into the swirling depths of the Drift.
*****
Whisked away through the Drift, the Starfinder Society fleet spreads across the three solar systems that form the Scoured Stars. The ships begin scanning the planets, asteroids, and other objects orbiting the three distinct stars. The fleet’s long-range sensors soon start picking up communication signals, energy signatures, and signs of life. After a quick analysis, the Society has identified a few locations where information on the lost Starfinders is most likely to be found. After nearly a year of waiting, the search for survivors can begin!
Table GM’s conclude your preparation phase and you are now set to start Part 1.

BOT-EE-licious |

Botting Twik's action to move us along with the preparation phase.
Twik says to Ziggy, "Yep! Sure thing boss! I love climbing into missile tubes where with one accidental press of a button, I'll be launched into the darkness of space never to be seen or heard from again!!"
Twik then hops into the tubes and deftly cleans out chunks of fur, hair, soap chips and other assorted bits one would normally find clogging the shower drain. Why they're in the missile tubes....who knows?
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22

GM bigboom |

Fitch says to Sharmain, "Excellent work! Let's see what you've come up with... misshapen abominations, carnivorous plants, living dead things, megafauna, robots gone haywire, terrible extraplanar beings and more!! Oh my!"
Threat Analysis
Once during this scenario, a PC can reroll a check to recall knowledge about any creature encountered in the Scoured Stars.
Instead of the above, the entire party can gain a +2 bonus to initiative for a single encounter. This can be activated after rolling initiative but before combat begins. If this encounter is versus an opponent the party has already identified via a recall knowledge roll, the initiative bonus is increased to +4
--------------------------------
Historia-7 appreciates Zac's help with checking the diagnostics and in return, shares a priority code that allows the party to divert CPU power from a carrier to the party's starship!
Diagnostics
The party is granted a +4 bonus to one Computers check during starship combat. Alternatively, the party can use this code on a ground mission, allowing a single PC to count as being trained in Computers for one check.
Instead of the above, a single PC can reroll a single failed Computer check with a +4 bonus.
--------------------------------
Pleased with Twik's agility and efficiency, Ziggy has some special ordnance loaded onto the party's starship!!
Missile Tube Cleanup
Once during the scenario, select any one successful starship weapon attack to count as a critical hit if it hits, even if the die result isn’t a natural 20.
--------------------------------
Well done!! I'll list out all of these 'preparations phase' rewards on a slide so that we don't forget the party has access to them.

GM bigboom |

Alarms and scanners begin to go off all at once as they try to keep up with all of the information. The Starfinder Society’s fleet has identified five locations where clues about the whereabouts of surviving Starfinders are most likely to be found.
While in the Scoured Stars system, the Tear resonates with the Drift engines of the Starfinder vessels in unexpected ways; as the massive ships spread out across the trinary system, they create a network that allows individual ships’ Drift engines to make short jumps in a matter of hours.
The Scoured Stars consists of three star systems, Agillae, Bastiar, and Callion, which revolve around a common barycenter. There are one or two missions available in each system as detailed below.
- Agillae: Agillae is an orange dwarf star with five planets, all of which are terrestrial planets in the star’s habitable zone. Recon and evacuation missions 1 and 2 take place in the Agillae system.
- Bastiar: The largest, brightest, and most massive of the three stars, Bastiar is a yellow dwarf star with eight planets—five terrestrial planets, a gas giant with more than three dozen moons, and two ice giants. Recon and evacuation missions 3 and 4 take place in the Bastiar system.
- Callion: The smallest of the three stars, Callion is a red dwarf star with two small, tidally locked planets whose orbits are synchronized so that they are always on the opposite sides of the star. Recon and evacuation mission 5 takes place in the Callion system.
Please refer to Handout #2 and select a mission. Once I have at least two players agreed (PBP rule of two) to any one mission, I'll get that mission started. You can attempt these missions in any order, but we do have a time limit, which is 10 days. On Aug 25, part 2 will begin, so, ideally, the party will get as many part 1 missions complete as possible before Aug 25. Go! Go! Go!!!

![]() |

Just in time to see myself botted and moved on by the Overseer! :)
Twik would probably be best suited to Bastiar 7.
Secondary interest in Bastiar 4 or Callion 2.

"Dinosaurs!? I do love a good old fashion dinosaur exploration. Let's go there. Agillae-2 here we come!" says Kato as the team is prepping for the mission ahead

GM bigboom |

Who can possibly say no to dinosaurs? HA!
Your party gathers together before your starship for a mission briefing. Fitch nods a quick greeting as she approaches on the floor of landing bay deck. “We’re getting emergency transmissions on a Starfinder frequency from Agillae-2, a habitable planet nearby. Your mission is to investigate the signal and bring back anything that might help us find survivors. The source of the signal appears to be right in the middle of a large swath of treacherous wetland that’s covered in thick vegetation, so finding a suitable spot to land on may be a challenge. Also, our bio scans indicate an incredible amount of biodiversity, so be careful out there!”
Without delay, your party takes off and approaching Agillae-2. As Fitch predicts, there are few spots where you can land the starship without getting branches and vines in the engines. Thankfully, a few enormous rock monoliths jut out from the steamy swamp and jungle terrain. The largest of them is only 2 miles from the destination. No Piloting check. Just another mile closer to the destination is a smaller rock. Requires a Piloting check.
Which rock monolith does your team opt for, the large or the small? If small, will the pilot please give me a piloting roll!

![]() |

I think Twik is our best pilot, if he's confident enough to get us closer, I say go for the closer rock.
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to encourage per the Starship combat rules, but . . .
"You got this my fellow halfling brother. You're a leaf on the wind!"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 + 1d6 ⇒ (9) + 8 + (5) = 22

![]() |

Twik handles the controls of the ship easily and sets her down right on top of the smaller rock.
Piloting: 10 + 11 + 2 = 23

GM bigboom |

Twik's superb piloting skills (with a bit of assistance from Odo's sharp eyes) lands your ship gentle as a feather on the closer, smaller rock. Exiting the ship, you all can easily tell that a lesser pilot would have collapsed the entire rock, resulting in catastrophe!
Hiking towards the direction of the signal, you must traverse through some challenging terrain before reaching the destination...
Listed below are various obstacles you'll encounter on the way to the beacon. For PBP expediency, they're all listed out at the same time so please give me rolls for all three when you post but bear in mind that your characters would actually encounter each obstacle one at a time, except for the first one which occurs throughout your trek.
Parasites: Many kinds of flying, crawling, slithering, body fluid-sucking creatures attempt to latch onto you as you make your way towards the beacon location. If any of them succeed, that can't be good...right? Each player can attempt a Medicine or Survival check to figure out how the party can avoid or ward off these alien parasites.
Fetid Water: You must cross a large area of murky green water. Although fairly shallow, wading through the water will be tiring... and who knows what sort of reptilian creature with razor sharp teeth lurks within... Each player can attempt an Engineering or Survival check to build a raft that would float the entire party across. Or each of you can attempt an Athletics check to swim. Also, let me know if anyone has a flying ability.
Herbivores: You travel through a valley where you encounter herds of herbivorous megafauna of three types, each with their own territories: heavily armored quadrupeds that appear ready to ram into their targets and pulverize them into a bloody mess, feathered bipeds with long claws that would rip through flesh like a hot knife through already-warm butter, and massive dinosaurs with long necks and strong thick legs that would crush a hovercar (much less you) in a single stomp! You must choose a route that goes through one of the three territories but first please give me a Life Science or Survival roll to determine if you can learn anything from observing the three different types of megafauna.
For each of the obstacles above give me a little description of what your character does along with your skill roll. If you'd like to attempt any of the obstacles with a roll or action different from what's listed above, I welcome it! Just describe what you'd like to do and drop me a roll!
Also, don't forget that you currently have an aid token that can be used once during this mission, after which it is passed on to be used by another table.

Parasites: As the group travels through the jungle, Odo attempts to use his small size to his advantage staying closer to larger, more desirable targets and slipping through tighter spaces to avoid being eaten.
Stealth or Acrobatics?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17 ; Otherwise Survival at a +0

Sharmain is fascinated by all of the new to her wildlife right down to the tiniest insect. She takes copious mental notes and gently removes anything that tries to attach itself to her or a teammate.
Medicine: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
When she reaches the fetid water she determines that it is likely unwise to swim in such conditions and so, watching and learning from those with greater skill in such things, sets about to make her raft, accepting any help that is offered.
Survival: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Looking at the result, Sharmain asks herself Do I have time to try again? Can I find an alternative? This is certainly not my area of expertise...another thing to put on my list of skills to learn.
Upon arriving at the valley, teaming with larger life forms, Sharmain is ecstatic, dancing on the inside. While wanting to not slow the group she also wants to take as many notes as she can and to observe long enough to offer advice to the group regarding potential dangers and safest choices. She quiets her roiling mind, stills her breathing, and reaches out with her mystic senses to add to her scientific knowledge.

Engineering: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
"I see that first time!"
Life science: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 Life Science +4 (DC of skill checks to recall knowledge about bioengineering is reduced by 5)

Survival(Parasites): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Kato tucks his pants in his socks and puts his gloves over his shirt sleeves. He wraps a bandana around his neck covering most of his skin. He also tells the rest of the group to do the same. Can Kate help the others and give them a boost to their rolls
Survival(Fetid Water): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Kato helps Odo build the raft. He focuses on harvesting quality flora from the area that seems to be sturdy and buoyant. He lends his cable to help fasten all the plant life together in a structure that will support the group.
Survival(Dinosaurs): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
He spots the three different varieties of dinosaurs and sneaks up to them to get a closer look. Using his knowledge of how habitat will affect a creatures behaviours he attempts to asses which of the three varieties will be easiest for the group to avoid or neutralize (hoping for the former over the latter.)

Parasites:
Sharmain takes notice of how seemingly ineffective Odo's constant hopping and tumbling around seems to be versus all the bugs and insects. But then she realizes that when he hops, some (but not all) of the bugs loose interest in biting Odo. Sharmain also observes how seemingly ineffective Aldane's mud mixture until she realizes that the insects won't try to bite certain parts of Aldane's body.
Sharmain concludes that the active ingredient is the mud is actually the feces of some animal. Thankfully, it does not possess an offensive odor. The remaining insects can be avoided by hopping the way Odo did every 10 feet or so.
These realizations, combined with Kato's method of covering up means that only a few dabs of 'animal waste' on strategic spots is sufficient to repel most insects from biting.
And so with the party their clothes all reverse tucked, dabbed with animal feces, and pausing for a small hop every 10 feet, you all manage to avoid any ill effects from the parasites! Congrats!!
Fetid Water:
Odo, Aldane, and Kato get to work immediately on building a raft and are quickly able to piece together the most luxurious jungle raft this swamp has ever seen! Although there was no time to sand the logs, the wood selected is superb, leaving no splinters. The raft is perfectly balanced and floated to the point where jumping one end of the raft barely shakes the entire vessel. The oars are supremely ergonomic and pose absolutely zero risk of causing tunnel syndrome!
Sharmain, unable to assist with the raft's construction, does however find some plant leaves and fashions individual fans for everyone to fan themselves as the party rides the raft across the water on this hot, hot day.
Herbivores:
Odo and Aldane cannot be sure what to make of the megafauna before the party. But Sharmain seizes on Odo's statement and observes them more closely. Kato observes them closely and when finished, exchanges notes with Sharmain. While big, it appears they are not that slow. However, Sharmain and Kato realizes that they have a visual blind spot and, oddly, that certain shades of green seem to have an calming effect on them - the same green as the leaves Sharmain selected for her fans!
With this knowledge in mind, the party tapes those leaves onto their bodies and walks as much as possible within the dinosaurs' blind spots, while relying on the green leaves to ward off any attacks. It works as the party safely makes your way through!
Well done, those rolls were quite good and saw the party through with no incident. For those of you who didn't roll, feel free to retroactively throw in your contributions as well, if you wish!!
I'll get the next scene set up a little bit later today!

The steaming, fetid swamp is alive with the sounds of giant insects, the shrieks of flying reptiles, and chittering of other swamp creatures.
Aldane: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Twik: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Sharmain: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Kato: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23
Odo: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Zac: 1d20 ⇒ 14
As you get closer to the beacon location, Twik and Kato find dinosaur tracks and are able to deduce that they are near the very beacon your party seeks. Armed with this knowledge, the party tries to stealthily move in closer towards the beacon, ranged weapons (or melee weapons if you prefer) drawn and at the ready.
Aldane: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Twik: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
Sharmain: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Kato: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
Odo: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Zac: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
As you move in, you spot two dinosaurs that look like feathered bipedal snakes with rattling frills and two small forelimbs have nested near the beacon and they have spotted you, but not before Twik, Zac, and Kato get the jump on them!!
Twik, Zac, and Kato get to act in a surprise round. Bear in mind that you can take only one action in a surprise round but I will assume you all already have your ranged weapon of choice drawn due to the party's successful survival rolls.
Combat Initiated!!
Some notes for this encounter:
- Map has been revealed!
- Remember that you have an aid token available. All tables are encouraged to use or boost it so that it can be passed on for use at another table. Share the love!
- Bridges: The rickety bridges require a DC12 Acrobatics check to traverse safely. If a creature fails the check, the bridge breaks, and all creatures on the bridge fall 5 feet and land prone in the water
- Rocks: The large, jagged rocks are 10 feet tall and grant cover. The rocks require a successful DC15 Athletics check to climb
- Water: The dirty green water is shallow and counts as difficult terrain.
Aldane: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20

Zac steps out of the ship and sniffs the air. He takes a good look around and then returns to the ship.
I'm going to take the hunting rifle and leave the laser behind. No reason to hall both through this swamp.Only carrying one rifle prevents him from being encumbered
Zac then jumps in to help with the tasks.
Medicine for Parasites: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Unfortunately, Zac gets the idea of using a synthetic lube oil as a repellent. The bugs appear to like it! Sigh...
Engineering for Fetid Water: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
Zac adds a rain shade to the raft.
Survival for Herbivores: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Zac helps the others to keep a sharp eye out on the beasties.

First combat round for Zac
Zac sees the two creatures, takes a bead on the closest one with his rifle, and takes a shot.
Hunting Rifle Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
I think there should be a -2 for range?
Rifle Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5

GM bigboom |

Zac, yup, -2 for range and -4 for the cover provided by the rocks. However...
Zac takes a difficult long shot but his shot finds its mark, hitting the red dinosaur!!
I'll move things into round 1 so that more people can start taking their turns. Kato, you still have one action from the surprise round and a full round of actions for round 1, so go and use them all in your next post!
Round 1
Aid token still available! The following characters in bold my take their action:
Aldane
Zac
Odo
Twik
Kato (eligible for surprise round and round 1 actions)
Blue Dinosaur
Red Dinosaur (-5)
