Welcome to the Discussion tab! This game is for Gameday VII, starting on August 13th.

My Game Policies:

1. This discussion thread is open for all OOC matters, so no ooc tag needed. For OOC matters in the gameplay thread, please use the [ ooc ] tag.

2. Please post at least once a weekday, and at least once on weekends. If you would be away, please let me know in advance where possible, and we can work something out. Otherwise, if you go missing, where necessary, I will bot your characters for the sake of the rest of everyone else. Thus, it is a good idea is to leave botting instructions for normal combat (with dice rolls), space combat and non-combat in your profile page beforehand.

3. If you have any disagreements over some of my GM calls or interpretation of the scenario, please take it to the discussion thread or, even better, pm me.

4. If you have played and/or GMed this scenario before, please do not metagame or spoil the plot. And please let me know.

5. It is the responsibility of the player to keep track of the game, including referencing the map on google slides and moving your token.

Normal Combat
6. Once surprise (if any) and initiative is determined, for the group of characters who can take actions, I would resolve actions in posting order, NOT initiative order. I used to do the latter but it doesn’t work that well in PbP, so am going with the former instead.

7. There's no space combat in this scenario, so don't worry about that.

Rolls and Skill Checks
8. I will do your initiative rolls, as well as perception rolls for surprise rounds.

9. On knowledge checks for general information, sometimes I use spoilers, sometimes I fill you in based on your roll. I'll let you know each time it comes up. (Don’t forget that you can make knowledge checks untrained for DC10.)

10. On skill checks where there could be team effort involved, please be explicit when making the rolls whether you are attempting the check on your own, or whether you are aiding. There might be situations where only one character is allowed to attempt the check (and the rest to aid) – I’ll state so explicitly if that’s the case.

11. On skill checks in general, if I feel you have roleplayed well, e.g. gave a good description of what your character does to search for a trail, came up with creative ways to befriend a hostile NPC, gave a very rousing speech, I often give bonuses.

Roleplaying Matters
12. The maps and handouts link (at the top of the page, and my statblock) will display all the maps, handouts, pictures, etc as the scenario progresses. (Incidentally, Android and IOS has the Google Slides app in case you work off mobile devices.)

13. Please have your full character information up on your character's profile page. Also, please have your stat block updated with the key information.

Feel free to chat over the next month or so, but make sure you dot in so that we're ready to go in August!

For now, make a post in the gameplay tab. (It can say anything.) Then delete it. You'll get updates when we get new posts from then on, in your campaign tab.

Gosh, sorry Jazzy! I apologize for my lateness. Thank you for the reminder.

First: How new are you to Starfinder? How new are you to organized play? (Either Pathfinder Society or Starfinder Society?)

Second: Have you found your campaign tab? That's the BEST way to track your ongoing games.

Third: Here is an excellent description of how to Play By Post (PBP), including a link to a post describing some of the conventions.

Fourth: No need to share your chronicle sheets. Similar to face-to-face games, unless the GM wants to Audit you, the GM never needs to see them. If you do get audited, I'm sure some form of picture sharing works. That's pretty rare.

Fifth: Character sheets! In PbP, you have a digital character sheet. On Paizo's site, each character has their own page. You've already made one for Jazzy. Here!. If you go to that page, you can edit Jazzy's profile. Here is a very basic character sheet, without any frills. Personally, I like mine a little prettier and concise than this example, but it's personal preference. Here is one of my Starfinder characters. As you can see, I have bolded titles and some sections in spoilers to conserve space.

Feel free to copy and paste ours, but here is a standard template which is a good place to start!

Alright, everybody! Less than a week until we start, so I want to bring us back together. We'll be starting in earnest on Monday, the 13th, though I will probably get a starter post up on Friday to let everyone introduce themselves and do a little roleplay/interaction over the weekend.

This scenario can run a little short, but is a lot of fun. Especially if you're a fan of Space Westerns! (Firefly, anyone?) So, don't be afraid to have fun with it!

Drift, I have to confess, I'm not sure what the answer is to your question. I got conflicting answers in Pathfinder Society on out-of-order scenarios.

For now, I'm going to assume this is earlier in your timeline (somehow...) and he doesn't recognize you. So, same order the scenarios happen in the Season timeline.

I know the scenario you're referencing. Since that scenario gives benefits if you have a boon from this scenario, I'm forcing them to be in the correct timeline. Please let me know if you have a better answer. lol.

I have the same timewarp occurance. I figured since Jan was wearing his helmet during those interactions the contact probably doesnt recognize him, and to a human all Shirrin look alike... right?

Well... I'm reticent to do it, but HMM is encouraging all of the GMs to set up "lifeboats". Places to play if (when?) Paizo has downtime. Hopefully we won't need it, but I've set up a Discord for our game. During any downtimes, let's try to keep things rolling there. If you have any questions about how Discord works or how the dice roller works, please ask. I'm no Discord expert, but I should be able to help!

Please make a Discord account if you don't have one, and log into the server now, while Paizo is up. That way we're prepped in case of the worst...

Also, I'm committed to getting this scenario done before October 1st, no matter the downtime. Since the scenario is a little shorter than normal we should be fine. But we'll do what we have to do to make sure your characters are free by the original start date of Session 2.
