I hope I am not being too much of a pain. I have an eight hour test Sunday that's a pretty big deal for my Pathophysiology grade. I have 3-4 more weeks of class before leaving the island and will have a minimum of three more tests in there.
I'm doing my best to keep up with posts. I hope they are generally satisfactory during this busy time.

DM Crustypeanut |

Its no problem - I understand all too well. At the very least, however, you are staying active! Sadly we couldn't say the same about Jack. I would rather have short, to the point posts than none at all. I mean I certainly enjoy a good, rich storyline and my players having rich posts as much as the next DM - but I'm also a DM of action. I love battles as much as I enjoy roleplaying.
My usual group is more 'of the battles-type'.. we're very slapstick with our roleplaying. On more than one occasion do we tend to bring in things like references from TF2, Warhammer, etc to our games.. hehe.

No worries Gi'chak - will DMPC you as needed come monday and beyond, till yer back.
Also.. as for this fight.. Grab is scary, as is constrict! (The Dust Digger thankfully does not have Constrict) You guys are aware of the simple Darkmantle, aye? CR 1.. those things terrify me. On a single round, they can attack with their Slam for 1d4+4 damage, then perform a grapple check with a +5 bonus. Should they succeed on that grapple check, the victim will take an immediate 1d4+4 additional damage due to constrict. Each round the Darkmantle maintains a grapple from then on, they are effectively doing 2d8+8 damage per round.
Throw in a Darkness SLA on top of themselves, potentially blinding those without darkvision, and you got yourself a very nasty little bugger! I nearly TPK'd myself doing a playtest of a certain campaign where you encounter two of these buggers at level 1. Luckily.. I had two dwarves, so they could still see.
Though, I have heard that their +4 is a typo from an older era, so they are supposed to only do 1d4 damage. Still, 2d4 damage per round nearly guaranteed can be painful when their target can't necessarily see!

I'm still terrified of things with Grab/constrict :D

She will use all four of her CLW spells on Yakini. I'm sure Xander will have more.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but you have two spells left today, after Enlarge Person, yes? If I understand correctly, that'll get Yakini +8 HP. 2 charges from the wand (unless Xander has mana to spare) gets her another +7 for a net of 19/24 HP, which is probably enough for now...though Unafe will keep her wand in hand, ready to use another charge if there's another encounter today.
Re LOOT!
Unafe is fine with The Hand's desires. Who can most benefit from +1 to Init? In general, how do y'all want to handle loot?
- Do we want a recordkeeper?
- Do we divide items over time, and use money (vs item value) to even out whoever got the more/less valuable items when we get back to civilization? Or some other method?

DM Crustypeanut |

Heh good news, Thorgrim!
Cutting off the creatures tentacles actually removes roughly 5/7ths of the creature's weight. Without those, it only weighs about 4500 pounds.
Yes I asked JJ that too.
...do note that you're gonna slow the group down a bit by dragging such a creature.. why not just take Jack and stow him in a backpack? :P

Hey all, I just created a loot tracker (really just repurposed/modified one I found online).
I'd love to make it editable by anyone who cares, just PM me the Google account to give permissions to (your gmail address, if you have one, or whatever email address you log into google docs with, when you want to edit them).
It has room to enter the value of non-cash loot, which I didn't fill in. Someone's welcome to. I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other, but I think at least so far I'm inclined not to deduct item's cash value from the cash we divide amongst ourselves.
* Anything I missed?
* Any mistakes I made (or changes you suggest) to the current distribution?
* Anyone know how to ID poison?
* Anyone want to carry the (presumed) poision?
* Any suggestions of who could especially use +1 to Init, to take Jack's ioun stone?
Unrelated, Crusty
1. Can we retry to ID the red vial, now that another day is upon us?
2. Before I burn a charge of Unafe's wand, I think Pinkerton has offered healing before to Thorgrim. Given that, assuming they've caught up, I'll expand Unafe's query to include him and Rhasdal as well. If either of them offer a CLW or two, I'll take it, otherwise Unafe burns 1 charge, as stated upthread.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but you have two spells left today, after Enlarge Person, yes?
Actually, I believe she gets 4 1st level spells/day at 2nd level, plus another for her charisma. That would make 5, minus the enlarge person, for a total of 4. I'm easy however, so it's all good by me.
I need to go change my character sheet, which has the wrong number of spells listed. I'm always in such a hurry these days that I seem to make mistakes right and left. I hate that. 8(

Unafe Two-Hearted |

Ah, Aluriel, I'm glad I asked. Let's say we've used thee of Aluriel's, and one of Xander's, bringing Yakini to 21/24. You'll still have one spell left if needed.

DM Crustypeanut |

Looks good Unafe! Except, I'm wondering can you get a weight column as well, so everyone can know how much weight their loot is?
For things you can't normally find in the books, like the Mask of Razmir, I'll give ye the weight of it. (The Mask is 2 pounds).
Though this isn't as important an issue as it will be in my Shattered Star campaign, I do want everyone making sure they keep track of their weight carried.
Including coins. 50 coins = 1 pound.
You'd be surprised at how much 100 gp worth of copper pieces weighs, heh. And how truly massive a dragon's hoard can be ;)

Unafe Two-Hearted |

Happy to create it, and I just added the column, plus a calculation for total shared coin weight. I didn't add weights for the loot to date, but anyone's welcome to do so.
Crusty (and anyone else) I'd love to make you an editor on it, just send me your email. If it works as well for you, rather than a forum post that lists loot, you could add it to the sheet (and post to the forum to check the loot).
Also, maybe worth linking to it from the campaign info tab. (You can tell I expect to get lots and lots of loot!) ^-^

DM Crustypeanut |

Alright guys, just to check - do you plan on using the Dust Digger's pit as burial for Jack? Thorgrim can lift the creature's carcass out of there (barely) if he hacks off the tentacles, and thus it will be relatively easy to bury Jack in the hole left behind.
I just want to clarify that is everyone's intentions - if so, I'll get a scene posted and us moved along.
I'd also like to know specifically what gear everyone is taking from Jack - I know The Hand has expressed interest on not looting certain valuables, though.

Unafe Two-Hearted |

Burial: Let's do whatever's most practical. It seems the pit saves us some time (and is...flavorful).
Jack's worldly possessions: Unafe will honor the Hand's wishes. The only loot of Jack's that I added to the loot tracker was his ioun stone and his cash.
Red vial: "You know, now that I think about it, why would the captain have pulled out a vial of Taldan katsup when he was severely wounded? Maybe I should give this a closer look..."
_____________
spellcraft: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

DM Crustypeanut |

..The Hand's post made me tear up a bit. Poor Jack :(
I will be moving us along tomorrow! I do agree, Aluriel, that we do alot of talking over here rather than over there.. though right now I won't worry about it. I'll try to nudge us more towards that as we go, as I think that it is partially my fault for it.. as I have a tendency to talk OOC about stuff a bit too much.

Unafe Two-Hearted |

Damnit indeed!
In the hindsight department, I try to always write in Google docs, which automatically saves to the cloud and has automatic (though kludgy) revision history.
Oh, and in the poetic justice department, I'm playing in the Fire Over Blackcrag adventure that's at the back of the Mythic Adventures book and...
