GM Valen |
@ RxGM - Thanks for running! Well done! I see that I have been remiss in providing my thoughts on the prior quests. I will do my best to remedy this over the next week.

Chronicles via pdf for Windows
Everything should be doable with freely available software (Adobe Reader). To get the chronicle sheet as its own document, I understand that you can use 'print to pdf' in Windows 10 and print only the page with the chronicle sheet. As I have an earlier version of Windows, I downloaded the free PDF reader FoxIt which allows me to print to PDF (I then switch to Adobe Reader for the rest of it).
After completing the Chronicle in PDF, Adobe Reader will let you put your initials on a PDF, and doing so locks all the text already present.
If you have non-windows, you'll have to ask around.
GM Mjolbeard |
I use a Mac and I just use the default PDF view, Preview, to insert text boxes with all the necessary info, then do Print > select just the chronicle sheet page > Save to PDF. It's not too difficult once you get a rhythm down.

In preparing to report the quest (I honestly thought I had already done so, but clearly not), I noticed that I can't seem to find PFS numbers for everyone. My info follows:
Player name: Lysle
Character name: Razisus Servant of Death
PFS No.: 90900-14
Day Job: N/A
Track: Normal
GM Mjolbeard |
Wow! Hard to believe we missed that big step!
Player Name: GM Mjolbeard
Character Name: Shruti Afshur
PFS No: 177216-14
Day Job: Craft (alchemy): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Track: Normal
Tsuk Sach |
Player Name: Ietsuna
Character Name: Tsuk Sach
PFS: 204997-16
Dayjob: none
Track: Normal
Feelo |
Player Name: Zin Z'arin
Character Name: Feelo
PFS: 192785-14
Dayjob: n/a
Track: Normal
So, how will this work? Are we each reporting 6/6 scenarios for one other player? Are we reporting 5/6 for that player and 1/6 for ourselves as a GM credit?
Who reports for who?

As far as reporting goes, I believe we each report having run a single quest for all the PCs that played in the quest.
As for producing the Chronicle, there a few ways we could do it:
1) each GM issue individual Chronicles for a single quest (players then just attach them all as the first chronicle; this is what the likely result would be if we played the quests individually at a FtF table)
2) the GM of the final quest sign the Chronicle for each PC (the signing GM verifying that the player had completed the prior quests and, thus combining each sheet into a single quest); or
3) each GM add an electronic signature to a single Chronicle, putting initials next to the quest GM'd.
As a practical matter, option 2 seems the simplest and least amount of paper work (although it puts all the work on one GM - though perhaps each player could draft their own unsigned chronicle and send it to the GM to sign?). Option 3 would require some coordination, but provides the best "proof" for any potential audit.

For those who need it...

I've now reported the first quest.
I suppose for those reporting quests nos. 3, 4, 5, & 6 (Mists, Colony, Webs, Silverhex), you report 0 prestige and for Crash: 1 prestige per player.
For the Chronicles, either we each receive a single, complete chronicle...or...
We designate which one contains the XP, which one contains the Day job, and which ones include Prestige/fame.
As a practical matter, whatever option we settle upon shouldn't matter as we have readily available electronic proof (reporting + the board posts) that we each GM'd a quest and also an electronic record of which PCs completed, which quests. In light of this, I think the adage of "keep it simple" should apply that each PC receive a single Chronicle. If we each want to practice preparing a chronicle, then we can each do one for another person. The only incomplete chronicle will be for Polo.
GM Zin |
That sounds reasonable. Just to be sure, I've asked Redalia to take a look at our approach to make sure we're getting it right.
GM Ietsuna |
Good thinking GM Zin. Redalia does this all the time so there is a way that it works.
GM Zin |
OK, this is complicated, because you guys started before I was made aware of some rules that apply. This means I need to explain the actual rule, and then explain how we'll handle it this time.
The rule is that you have to run at least 4 quests in a series in order to earn GM credit. And you can't report without getting GM credit. This unfortunately means that unless I can get further clarification, further round robin quests can't be allowed.
However, you guys started before anyone who could have warned you was make aware of the issue, so in my opinion, you should each report the table for your quest. Please make sure to coordinate so that the PP and things add up properly. You should each have one chronicle that shows completion of the entire quest series, rather than a stack of chronicles.
Let me know if you need any more information. I will look into what can be done to allow things like this in the future.
Reporting:
It seems like we should each report the quest that we GMed, as GM Valen has already done. Crash, as the 4th quest, would award the 2nd prestige point; the rest of us award 0 xp and 0 pp.Chronicles:
We should each prepare one complete chronicle for one other player. We should all end up with only 1 chronicle, and it should represent all of the quests. One GM will have to prepare 2, as Polo didn't GM and thus won't prepare a chronicle.
Shall we go in sequence?
I GMed last for Polo/lucklesshero, so I'll prepare his chronicle.
Thoughts?
GM Ietsuna |
Great Zin. Big fan of your work. I have just reported with 0PP for all
Paemil |
I am travelling this weekend. I should still be good for a couple of posts, but probably not my usual 2/day. I'll be back to normal monday night.
Feelo |
This is unfortunate timing with the revival of the forums, but I am heading into the woods for the weekend to go float down a river. I won't be back until Sun PM, so expect regular posting from me to resume again on Monday.
Razisus the Servant of Death |
With my schedule (and every other game starting up again), I am fine with resuming full force on Monday.
Paemil |
Same!
Paemil |
I am going out of the country for the next 2 weeks, and will have very limited access to internet. I should be able to post once a day, but there may be some days I can't make that happen.
More importantly, the next 48 hours is all travel and will be tough to me to post. Please feel free to bot me as needed.
GM Mjolbeard |
Whew! We finally got there! Sorry for that last bit dragging out so much. I really needed you guys to throw in as much as possible to help out your negotiations with Anwald, because you were initially falling short of the DC. I essentially gave a circumstance bonus to the check based on you giving him some stuff he can either resell or use himself. The initial check is kinda crazy for level 1 in my opinion - either a DC25 diplomacy check or 500gp?! Crazy!
Now, onto the good stuff!
I'll report a little later today, and will have Razisus's chronicle sheet ready to go by this evening at the latest.

No rush on chronicle for Razisus.
Also, did we ever figure out how to report this? I had to thought we could each report one session, but then it was pointed out that a GM has to run 4 quests before reporting. Last, I recall we we're waiting for. VO to provide instructions on reporting. (Presumably, Chronicles still come from individual GMs).
Also, I am way behind on offering feedback to GMs, which I hope to rectify soon if there is still interest. Overall, this has been a good learning experience for me and I thank you all for your patience, creativity, and commitment!
Feelo |
Yes; please report per this post. Redalia basically made an exception for our reporting to support our game since the rules weren't quite clear before we started.
I think that leadership will ultimately make some kind of change to reporting to support this kind of revolving-GM situation, but not sure what that will look like. But for us, they are making an exception to the rule.
However, you guys started before anyone who could have warned you was make aware of the issue, so in my opinion, you should each report the table for your quest.
GM Valen |
@GM Ietsuana - Link to chronicle sent via PM. Please let me know if I missed anything. Thanks for having this awesome idea and for getting it going! If you want to leave this campaign open for another week, I will post my feedback in discussion. Alternatively, if you want to close it, I can PM individual GMs.
@All - Thanks again! Happy gaming!
RxGM |
I won’t be able to do any reporting until next Tuesday when I am back in the states. Sorry!
GM Ietsuna |
Thanks all. Great run. I hope to see you all around the boards.
Polo Took |
Guys could we either unseat Polo (and lucklesshero) from this campaign or someone click the no longer active campaign box in the editing window for this campaign? I'd like it to disappear from my campaign home page. I haven't actually played this campaign in over half a year yet it's still listed on my home page. Also was a chronicle ever posted for Polo; in the 3 parts he took part in? (not really concerned about this but if it's out there it would be helpful if someone could point me in the right direction)
Anyway, sorry I couldn't follow through with this one. Glad you guys were able to report it and get credit for it though. Thx for letting me take part in the little I could.

RxGM |
Can some remind me how we decided to chronicle and report this? I am finally back in the states and can take care of it now.
Feelo |
RxGM, the reporting instruction are here.
Per that, I still owe Polo (lucklesshero) and Sirius (Helikon) their chronicles. I will work on getting those completed this week. I will send links for those via PM when they are ready.
Ietsuna, I'm still waiting for a chronicle for Feelo, too.
Thanks!
GM Ietsuna |
I'll get on it Feelo. You should have it today.
Razisus the Servant of Death |
Thanks, GM Mjolbeard!
Feelo |
I am still behind on reporting and issuing Chronicles. Due to a houseguest, I'm going to be swamped at home and won't be able to get this done until Sunday afternoon, when that guest leaves. I will make that my priority on Sunday; Polo and Sirius can expect their chronicles by the end of the day on Sunday.
Sorry for the delay!
GM Ietsuna |
I will leave this thread active for another week. If I need to extend that then please let me know.
Paemil |
Paemil is still waiting on a chronicle. Please let me know if you are missing any information...

My guest just left and I'm beat; I'm going to have to push this off another day. Expect these chronicle sheets to go out Monday evening instead.
Feelo |
Okay, my session is reported, and chronicles have gone out. Thanks for your patience!
It looks like two more GMs have to report their sessions, though. I have reporting from myself, Ietsuna, Mjolbeard, and Valen. Looks like we still need Helikon and RxGus to report.

As promised, and assuming there is still interest (and as this campaign hasn't been hidden yet), I thought I would try to get in some overdue thoughts on the various quests:
Mists
What struck my the most about this quest was how quickly it ran and how anti-climatic it seemed. A fair amount of build up and then it felt like the fight was over after one hit. Having run this quest since, I realize that it was GM'ed as written, so the quickness and lack of drama were not the result of the GM. I also wondered about haunt, but again, having run the quest, it doesn't provided much guidance to the GM to determine how far the haunt extends. Indeed, the quest seems to be contradictory at times in this respect.
As far as constructive advice, I would suggest that when faced with a foe that is likely to last a single round (as in this quest), a GM has to focus more on other aspects of the quest/adventure/encounters, like roleplaying and atmosphere. I liked a lot of what you did with Birdie, making her a more of a character than just what the quest provides. I would have liked more of an opportunity to roleplay with that NPC. However, I tend to have a greater affinity for extended roleplay than a number (most?) of the other players--so while I would have liked more, you probably made the right decision in cutting the roleplay down to move things along. That being said, providing the list of questions for Birdie with her answers under spoilers, helped move things along, but broke some of the immersion for me.
Colony
This one was the most fun to play, for me--though I also think it may be the best written of the quests. You were wise to quickly explain that the map during the "chase" was essentially meaningless and to have us disregard it. As GM, you managed to bring out some creative solutions during that scene. Combat was well-ordered and clear.
GM Ietsuna |
I would like to thank everyone for their participation and constructive thoughts. I have issues Paemil a chronicle and will be marking this thread inactive. I look forward to seeing you all around the boards.
GM Valen |
Crash
I found this quest to have an intriguing hook--the downed spaceship--but was disappointed that it didn't go anywhere. Having read the quest, I see this disappointment was not the result of the GM, but of the scenario as written. I appreciated the descriptions the GM provided and it made me more intrigued about exploring the newly discovered technology (although the quest doesn't really allow for that). The disks had some interesting properties that perhaps could have made the fight more interesting, but the bad guys never got a chance to obtain them. When running this fight, I might suggest having the bad guys start out surrounding the party or, at least, start close to the space craft (although this might require some suspension of disbelief since the PCs should see them approaching unless they all entered the craft--a circumstance that the GM probably should try to encourage). Speaking of fights, I found this one to be very hard to follow. I would suggest when GMing, posting the initiative order and status of the combatants (PCs and opponents alike) to help the players keep track of the action.
Webs
I really enjoyed the added descriptions to this combat. It really made the spiders come to life. I was initially concerned about the handling of the map, but trying to figure out a reasonable way to determine the starting positions of the PCs is an ongoing issue with these quests; one not easily solved. A possible suggestion would be to just forgo the map initially and describe landmarks, then have the PCs describe where they wish to go and what they wish to see in order to determine PC positions. I enjoyed roleplaying the negotiation.
GM Valen |
Silverhex
I found the roleplaying in this quest to be a lot of fun. Combat was easy to follow and the party got to benefit from its success in planning. The DCs seemed high for a party of 1st level PCs, but this, too, seems to be the fault of the scenario as written.
Well, those are my thoughts. I hope they are helpful. Again, I want to thank GM Ietsuna for getting this going and for all of you for stepping up to run. For such short quests, the players really stepped up the roleplaying, which you probably have gathered by now.
