What are the chances that we both started new jobs on the same day?

Halcyon d'Orsay |

I will be on a camping trip and away from computers for a few days (back Saturday evening).

DM Goldstool |

Update will likely happen tonight or Saturday! Will promptly deliver those who wish to investigate this mirror to the scene, alongside any reinforcements you all gather.

DM Goldstool |

Update should be coming tomorrow, if not Saturday afternoon! Looks like we might be getting some real combat!

DM Goldstool |

You know what this reminds me of...
The 3.5 mother cyst feat
Still've never played 3.5 (well, I mean, Pathfinder might technically qualify depending on perspective), but the closest to that in PF would be, what, Tumor Familiar?
Aiming for an update tomorrow night, post an update if you have the time, Mirror-Warehouse crew!

Seth Varianna |

I will put a post up when I get home from work, sorry for the slower posting speed recently.

DM Goldstool |

Post coming tomorrow!
Don't worry, Seth, work's been kicking my butt recently, totally understand if things go slow for a small bit.

DM Goldstool |

Update coming likely tomorrow night or Saturday afternoon!

DM Goldstool |

Work got a little crazy for me this week, things should begin to return to normal for me by Thurday or Friday. I'll see if I can get something by tomorrow, but if not, Friday is what I am aiming for.

DM Goldstool |

Post coming tonight! I need something to distract me from the state of affairs! Hope everyone who voted could, regardless of opinions!

Halcyon d'Orsay |

I'm trying to follow the advice of the Brits: Keep calm and carry on. I'm old enough to have been through this before (Reagan, G. W. Bush), so while I'm not a happy camper, I think Tr_mp will put his foot in something gooey and smelly and then we'll see if he gets impeached.

Rotaretilbo |

I mean, that's pretty scary, but I don't think he really has the authority to do it, unless he plans on putting them in Gitmo. Or he goes full dictator on us, but I don't feel like that would really work out for him. A transition to fascism would almost certainly require him to go all in on gun control, and that's just not something that the current congress or his supporters would ever endure. And military officers are drilled nonstop that they absolutely must never be used on domestic civilians, so I don't think he can count on the military if he makes a stab at it without doing the requisite gun control bit first.
But there are crazy things he can do without anyone's approval. Trump can, for example, withdraw from NAFTA, the trade agreement with Mexico and Canada, or the Paris Climate Accord, a UN group trying to prevent global warming, without congressional approval. He also ultimately has control over immigration, so he can begin mass deportations, freeze immigration from "terror-prone regions," and/or cancel VISAS to foreign workers currently in the US as retaliation for their home countries not accepting aforementioned deportations, all without congressional approval. And while he'll need congressional approval to lift restrictions on the fossil fuel industry and push through infrastructure like the Keystone pipeline, that's something I don't expect him to have trouble pushing through. Same with removing the sequester and ramping up defense spending. And these are all things directly from his list of promises for his first 100 days.
On the other hand, the pledges he's making that aren't scary, like trying to put an end to revolving-door politics, and... alright, that was basically the only one I could find, but the point is, congress is never going to approve that, so it's really just so he can say he tried when it fails spectacularly to make it through congress.

I'm going to make the executive GM decision here and try to limit what we say about politics here on this discussion board. It's been a long week, no matter which way you voted at a local/state/national level. I wish I could have mustered up the energy to make a proper post, but I've felt rather drained these past few days, though not just because of this exhausting election.
This campaign has a LOT to do with nationalism, national identity, classism and racism. Those are the main themes of the game, and I think I've at least touched upon all of them in some way, and soon, they will play even more prevalence in the story. There are both a strong left-wing/right-wing factions, neither which can be labelled "good" or "bad" here. Even further, your character is not an extension of your political views, I want to make that clear here, that no matter your political allegiance, as long as it is in character, it is accepted.
When Raphael was still a player, he was planned to have a large role in shaping the country's stances in many regards through his court cases. While perhaps not known to all, his character was fairly state-aligned, and the conflict that brought to the party is one of the reasons I chose him. Everyone, however, is to play a part in shaping their country: that was and remains a main focus of the game.
Halcyon's major clientelle, and how she advises them, have already made some changes to the story. Who Guillaumine decides to assist (and equally important, who she doesn't) can have a huge affect on those in the city (and already both friends and enemies have been made for her). Marcus sees more of the every-man than anyone else, and can shape the average Roland person's mind (though I've yet to touch on this too much). Seth, while sometimes taking missions of those outside the city, will soon need to pick and choose which jobs are more important to him, and his involvement could mean saving or killing thousands depending on his interests.
Let's try to keep the politics in-game, there are plenty here. I don't want to alienate anyone, I also want this game to be a place free of stress, and to keep Roland a fantasy away from reality for all of us.
I'll have a post up these next couple days. Wish I could devote more time to you all, you are great players which I have GREATLY enjoyed playing with for almost two years now.

Halcyon d'Orsay |

If you're interested in this kind of plot and role playing, I recommend a published game system that is based on Pathfinder/d20 with a few minor changes. It is called Zeitgeist.
Players run characters who start out as constables who are kind like the FBI, law enforcement at a federal level. The nation has various factions, with revolutionaries and aristocrats involved in the plot. The on-line game I've been a player has made some foreshadowing that eventually, the central government may begin to put demands on the constables that may make them question their allegiance to the state.
Unfortunately, the game I'm in has stalled twice due to the GM having RL demands on his time. It's also a kind of Steampunk world, with iron warships, steam engines, and guns, but also all the usual d20 magic and class options.

I was looking at earlier rolls and somehow a 24 to hit missed when a 21 hit, and I think you are under the impression that Marcus is attacking with non lethal damage
He is not
He is not the greatest of swordsmen and he knows this and he is striking as best he can the way the weapon was designed, by using the tip
He's not specifically going for lethal areas like the heart, neck or head or whatever, but he is taking whatever target he can find to hit, and hoping that he can incapacitate them and then having he or halicon cast stabilize when they're down

DM Goldstool |

Noted above, I accidentally mistook the damage roll as the attack roll. I will adjust the narrtive as I post later on tonight.

DM Goldstool |

I'll be getting a post up late tonight, I have a long bus trip and should be able to write a word or two.

Seth Varianna |

Just realized I never leveled Seth up to 5, so here it is.

At this point, everyone sans Gill can advance to 5th level.
When the surgery is done, you too will advance, Good Doctor.

Happy Turkey Day. May you all take the best food induced nap possible.

DM Goldstool |

Post coming tomorrow!
I wanted to post yesterday, but my entire 9+ hour bus-ride was without a wireless connection due to a broken cellular receiver on the bus. If everyone could update their character profile with their fifth level choices (skills, spells, class features, HP et cetera), it would be much appreciated.
Shortly, I'll be introducing a Google Spreadsheet consisting of skill rolls and saves I'd like you all to fill in for your characters. It'll help save me some time when writing some posts. I'll keep you all posted to that as I roll it out.
Now that my Thanksgiving break is over, I should be able to go to a twice/thrice weekly posting schedule. Thank you all for your patience this past week and a half :)

Halcyon d'Orsay |

Halcyon is leveled up.
She took a level of Occultist, gaining 2 implements (both divination), psychic spells, focus powers.
Feat: Empath, which allows her to get information from observing a person's aura more quickly.
She got a significant bump in her perception bonus (+12).
On of her focus powers is Future Gaze, which gives her the results of an augury spell as a standard action, so best to bone up on how Augury works.
She also now can use the psychic skill unlocks, which I plan to use a lot.
I haven't done a cycle of down time development yet.

Seth Varianna |

Seth is now updated to level 5 here.

DM Goldstool |

I was just rereading and noticed that you said you aren't using hero point rules
Does that mean spells and magic items that grant temporary hero points are likewise off the table?
I was thinking about that. See d20pfsrd Hero Points page, as I'll be referring to the terminology in that article.
Heroic Fortune is a strong spell, mostly as Hero Points can be spent in a myriad of ways. I'll allow it, but I will limit the uses of Hero Points as follows:
- Only the "Act out of Turn," "Bonus," and "Extra Action" may be used as written.
- Spells recovered by "Recall" may only be of a spell level equal to or lower than the ability granting temporary Hero points.
- Reroll can be used, though the GM will roll the second dice to prevent tampering.
- Cheat Death and Inspiration cannot be used.

Halcyon d'Orsay |

Are we still 4th level until the end of this encounter or can we act use things we gained going to 5th level? Halcyon at 5th level would be able to do some auguries that only take a standard action. That could come in handy if Guillaumine needs advice on likely results of a particular action during the operation.

DM Goldstool |

Sorry about leaving unannounced, I'm recovering from a small crisis (hopefully quarter-life and not midlife!) that happened during the Thanksgiving weekend, and haven't been able to justify spending time that wasn't at work or with family.
Things have mostly returned to normal, I'll be trying to play catch up this next week for all my games, starting with the ones I am a player in. I aim to get the ball on this back rolling by Wednesday. Again, I really can't apologize enough, I should've made this known, I hope something like this doesn't happen in the future.
On a good note, we may soon be a five-man party once more. You'll hear more from the player shortly, I hope :)

Careful speaking of the devil, you may manage to summon him from thin air. :)
I'm back! I apologize to everyone for disappearing on you and for not letting you know that I was occupied. I had some major life events popped up that made me drop most everything and by the time those were in a more sane place, I hadn't posted for a few months. I should have found the time, but my mind was far from the game. Mea culpa!
It looks like I might have paid for it though by missing some exciting times.

Seth Varianna |

Welcome back both of you! I always say real life comes first. I hope everything goes well for you two.

Raphael Montefiore |

I still haven't forgiven you for sniping the mead, Raph. :(Also, welcome back. :P
If it makes you feel any better, Raphael bought it for Estelle and she can invite whomever she wishes to partake. Schmooze a bit and you can still make it. :)
