Eh, it not actually that scary. I have a psion nomad who is lvl 4 that had 36 pp. It mostly meant that he could do what he wanted every combat (which was usually teleporting others or support. Porting 3 times each round was fun! ^^)
Despite that i dont think he ever went below half pp.Treat him more like a fighter, going all day but still only doing 1 thing a round.
However, that was a nomad in a largely combat based game, this is a telepath in a largely intruge based game, how much effect will that have i wonder?

Just because so many people have posted their character and some stuff about them I will do so as well.
My character is Seth Varianna. The son of a family who has been part of the Guard for generations, but Seth has broken that tradition. He decided to become a mercenary, and over the years has started a small business centered around his own group of mercenaries.
Seth Varianna is a human cavalier and he has a decent amount of points in some of his skills. If anyone wants to do a little bit of backstory merging just tell me, I am always open to ideas.

I finished my background, GM Goldstool. Let me know if you need anything else or if you have any concerns. I've copied my fluff here for your perusal. I had a lot of fun writing it up.
Born some twenty six years ago on the thirty-first of Abadius, Raphael Aldric-Helene Montefiore was born into a family on the decline. It was, in fact, a family that was a shadow of its former self. As the grandson of Corentin-Estelle 'the Cretin', his birth was noted by no one of influence or means. Blessed to be born on the final day of the month devoted to Abadar, Raphael's fate seemed doomed to a life of ignominy. As the third son of Aldric and Helene-Gustav Montefiore, there would be little chance for him to distinguish himself.
A few short months after his birth, the death of his grandfather -"The Cretin" was the source of much derision in Roland. The coffee shops and gossip houses throughout the city thrummed with rumors and theories about the continued fall of Montefiore. Aldric, Raphael's father, saw the writing on the wall and sold the ancestral Montefiore estate and most of the nigh-worthless assets of the Montefiore Trading Company. With a shell of a company and few assets in hand, Aldric set about creating a better legacy for his children then he himself was given by his father. 'Scraping' by as would a mere merchant, the surviving Montefiore clan lived in a state of 'poverty' that would have been alien to their forebears. Trinkets and heirlooms were sold off, piece by piece, to eager buyers and the proceeds used to see the five children well educated. The only trinket left at the end, was the piece that had earned the family its fortune in the first place.
Raphael was given a good education, mostly by Abadaran priests, that has since served him well. Numbers, figures, history, law and more were his and the bright young lad soaked it up. By the time he was eight, he had surpassed his older brothers (eleven and ten) in learning. Raphael showed a unique proclivity for "Manual of City Building" and "Order of Numbers" (holy texts of Abadar) which didn't go unnoticed by his tutors. The Abadaran priests made a point of training the lad in the divine and the proper genuflections required by the Master of the First Vault. As he grew in his teens, he was introduced to the sword and bow, though he favored the bow greatly. Showing skill with as an archer and with the divine, and faced with few other prospects as a third son, Raphael enlisted into Durendal military at age sixteen.
He would go on to serve with distinction for five years. He spent the first couple years stationed in a fort guarding the border with Greater Galatine. During this time he improved his shot with a bow against bandits and in a few skirmishes with the forces of Galatine. His intelligence and resourcefulness, not to mention a clever tongue, drew notice from his superiors and they soon had him serving in a more clandestine fashion.
As a member of the elite special forces division of the Durendal military, Raphael honed his skills further. He showed a particular knack for covert missions across the border that sought intelligence on the still-mighty armies of Galatine. It was in serving with this unit that he befriended a scoundrel, Estelle. Bastard daughter of a minor noble and a Calistrian priestess (quite the scandal in Roland), Estelle brought a spontaneity to Raphael's life that he'd previously lacked. His three years serving his country, covertly and without a heroes praise, were among the happiest in his memory.
Raphael's time in the military taught him a love for his country and it's unique history. He mingled with races he'd never met before, fought as a proud Durendalan and felt a rekindling pride in his family's history as warriors. Feeling a renewed sense of purpose and promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, Raphael lived a life with hope in a way he never had before. It was shortly after his promotion that he learned of the death of his father and eldest brother Jean-Marie. An outbreak of the Golden plague (supposed by some to be planted by the Galantines), had claimed two of the men he'd looked up to most. Devastated and torn between his loyalties to family and country, Raphael reluctantly resigned his commission and returned to Roland to aid his now ailing family.
Over the next three years, Raphael helped his remaining brother, Arnaud, in managing the Montefiore Trading Company while learning the ins and outs of Durendalan law. These grief-stricken years were difficult for Raphael as he faced long hours work followed by long hours studying. His years in the military left him well prepared for the duty involved but there was little joy. Angry at the fates that had left him in this state, Raphael soldiered on and did his duty. His faith in Abadar and his family's future was his only solace. This changed when his old comrade, Estelle, returned from her military service. Coupled with the end of his training as a lawyer, Raphael's life began to look more promising and he turned his sights higher still.
In the intervening two years, Raphael has established himself as a highly skilled attorney-for-higher and merchant. His family's businesses are beginning to show signs of great life and in the midst of it, Arnaud gave to him the Bracelet of Bargaining that was the sole remaining Montefiore heirloom. "My brother, you will be the one to lead our family to glory. I can do only so much with this, but with you, we could be great again." Accepting it and embracing his brother, Raphael has since set about building the legacy that he had longed for. With his brother at his side and Estelle his constant companion, Raphael Aldric-Helene Montefiore is ready to build his destiny.
Standing at five foot 10 inches tall, Raphael Montefiore is a slender man. He lacks his elder brothers' muscular bulk but makes up for it with finesse. He wears his auburn hair in a neatly trimmed ponytail tied off level with his shoulder blades. His chiseled good looks, green eyes and quiet charm have long brought him the attention of would-be suitors. So far he has decline to marry in order to focus on his success.
Raphael's sense of fashion has blossomed since his return and, though he may find some of the pomp tiresome, he a notable figure striding the streets of Roland. He to dress in elegant, straightforward finery, but doesn't shy away from more convoluted, lace-covered garments if they are required. His only requirement is that his garb allows him to carry a brace of daggers secreted about his person. Old habits die hard for a military man.
There is a glint to Raphael Montefiore's eye that can be a little unsettling. A precocious child, Raphael demonstrated from an early age that he was more perceptive then most. A product of his upbringing and time in the military, he has grown into a quiet and reserved man. When he chooses to speak, he speaks elegantly and compassionately. His precisely chosen words enthrall those around him and it's a rare day when he can't bend another to his whim give the time. His wit, generally dry, can be biting at times.
Raphael is, and always has been, ambitious. This thirst for more then the hand he was dealt in life has led through hardships and periods of great difficulty. He possesses an intense love for his country and an equally intense distaste for Greater Galatine. His love for Durendal is second only to his love for his family and its legacy. Raphael is slow to anger, but when his passion is roused he is not easily calmed again (much less when family or country are involved).
In distant history, Raphael Montefiore's family gained its noble status at the end of a sword. It fought with brilliant honor through the wars against Galantine and it's name still has respect in military circles. It managed to grow into a moderately powerful house, but one without great wealth. The family did, however, form a close and personal bond with the church of Abadar. The church's call for Durendalan unity and civilization struck true with the fiercely proud Montefiore's.
The rise of the Montefiore fortune would come many years later with Raphael's great-great-great-great-grandfather. This man, with the aid of a trinket made by a High Priest of Abadar with family ties, built a trade empire centered in the capitol. From the finest luxury silks to lumber from Flamberge. This trading empire, Montefiore Trading Company, was maintained with ruthless efficiency and verve.
Raphael's grandfather, Corentin-Estelle, lost the vast majority wealth once he took control of the family's fortunes. The Montefiore name was greatly tarnished in the eyes of the nobility and Corentin-Estelle earned the mocking title "the Cretin". During these dark days, the family lived in near destitution in its estates in the countryside until the Cretin passed. Raphael's father, Aldric -seeing the idiocy of holding to an estate that had long since become a burden- sold the family's estate and moved the entire clan into the city.
The proceeds from the sale of former palatial estate went towards a new home and opportunities. The now-pitiable Montefiore Trading Company, a shadow of its former self, still exists and maintains a modest living for the family. A smart man in a horrid situation, Aldric recognized that his children would need to rebuild the family name. Thus, he saw to fine Abadaran education for all of his children: Raphael, his elder brothers (Jean-Marie and Arnaud) and sisters (Emilie-Gilbert and Aimee).
- The Bracelet of Bargaining that belonged to his great-great-great-great-grandfather. This was the only Montefiore trinket not sold off by Raphael's father.
- A masterwork dagger that belonged to the same man as his bracelet. This lovingly crafted dagger bears the Montefiore crest ingraved into the blade. It's ornate hilt ends in an ornate black-enameled gold-trimmed pommel shaped like the Montefiore lion. The blade, while showy, is still wickedly sharp. Raphael purchased the blade back for his family from its previous buyer. He is rarely parted from it.
- An Ioun stone that belonged to the man who founded the family. Over the years, the brilliant magenta prism stone has been damaged and it is now slightly dulled and with a crack formed along its length. It, along with the dagger and bracelet, are the only heirlooms that Raphael possesses.
- A golden holy symbol that was supposedly used by an Abadaran priest married into the Montefiore clan. It was gifted to him by the Archbanker of Roland on his return for his father's funeral. It's expected that it will be returned to the church when he dies.
@Alfrazar/Seth: Perhaps Seth and Raphael served together at some point in the military? Alternatively, maybe Raphael made use of Seth's company as guards for the Montefiore Trading Company?

Deadly Dealer (Su)
At 1st level, the card caster gains Deadly Dealer as a bonus feat, even if he does not meet the prerequisites. A card caster can invest cards with enough magic to deal lethal damage even without the Arcane Strike feat so long as he has at least 1 point in his arcane pool.
Harrowed Spellstrike (Su)
Beginning at 2nd level, a card caster can invest a single thrown weapon with a single touch or ranged spell as part of the spell's normal casting time. The spell must target a single creature, and the spell's range changes to match the thrown weapon's range increment. This ability otherwise functions identically to spellstrike, except it can only be applied to thrown ranged weapons instead of melee attacks.
This ability replaces and modifies spellstrike.
Magic Item:
Deck of Slivering Fate (13,000) 54 card harrow deck +1
Background: A gypsy woman who tells fortunes, loves to gamble, and loves to find trouble!

I actually feel spoiled to have so many character concepts, helpful veterans, and this much interest in the campaign.
I am making a curtain call, at 6PM Eastern Standard Time (~10 hours), I will no longer be taking character concepts, and will begin to select players. I have been blessed with so many interested people, so many of which have brought new ideas to the campaign that I never would have thought of myself. Thank you everyone.
If there are any questions on the game, rules or anything at all, leave them here or send me a PM. I will hopefully be sending the invites to the game tonight.

Thinking ahead a bit, not something I'll consider getting into till after having an alchemist and/or apocathery in my employ, but what are the laws for things like Pesh and other drugs.
Narcotics are certainly created, often by underground alchemists, but their legality is questionable. Usually they are tolerated by the Guard, until stronger, more addictive, or dangerous drugs are made.
Here is a small list of legal drugs you may find.
- Alcohol
- Dreamtime Tea
- Midnight Milk
- Silvertongue
- Honeydust
- Euphorica
Things like Daemon Seed, Wyrm Keif, Mumia would be banned, though something like Harlot's Sweets lie in a gray area.

I'd also like to ask if anyone would like to collaborate with our backgrounds.
Halcyon d'Orsay: Perhaps we've met when I had my fortune told on a lark and the chance meeting turned to friendship. Maybe I've also (or instead of) served as your attorney when some of your fortunes didn't turn out as the client liked.
I would say that they did first meet when Monsieur Montefiore took a reading from her, perhaps in the bar of the character Lord Foul II is playing maintains. Halcyon did not have anything very interesting from the cards, so she tried to embellish (BS) on the reading and he saw through it. She saw that he saw through it, so they thus learned they were both good judges of what others were thinking/feeling.
Halcyon would thereafter connect with him if she needed some information on the legal system. Perhaps, as you suggested, some disgruntled client tried to make trouble for her when one of her predictions did not come true. It would likely be a professional relationship, fueled by mutual respect.

Ravena grew up with her merchant parents in the south living a pretty good life until her parents fell on hard times due to tensions in trade relations to which she resents to this day. In order for Ravena ti survive her parents sent her to a local monestary named "the heart," a front for training elite spies and warriors for the aristocats of Roland. Ravena was told she was to marry and spy on a household at the age of sixteen and determined to run away. Her benefactors from the heart have been chasing her for two yearsand only her luck and an old harrow deck that some gypsies taught her how to use and which she fell in love with had kept her safe.

Seth was never part of the Guard
Sorry, what I was trying to suggest was that perhaps we were both stationed in the same fort. I would have been part of the military and you would have been a mercenary hired by said military. That said, I'm comfortable with the idea of our work being purely through the MTC.

This sounds good to me.
It also occurs to me that I've neglected to write up a segment about my contact, Estelle. She served with me in the clandestine arm of the military and has since returned to Roland. She now works with the guard as an investigator. I'll probably follow up on this later with more detail.
One final thing, I missed that we roll for HP. Here are my rolls:
Raphael HP L2/L3: 2d8 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10

Okay I like the idea, because it gives our characters something to work with. How about we consider them as business partners in the way that they trust each other in business but outside of it not so much. They need to work on their relationship outside of business.
@Goldstool For my horse's hp, should I do max level 1 and roll the other two levels?

Alright, the cutoff is in effect. Thank you everyone! I will now start reviewing players and information, I'd live to give a big thank you to everyone who showed interest, sent me a PM, asked clarifying questions, and even just read the design document. I was really surprised and happy that this got this kind of response.
Feel free to continue to ask questions about anything about the campaign. If someone here doesn't get in the game but wants to use the campaign design doc for their own purposes, send me a PM and I can give you more things.

Question:Is there an etiquette for this? Should I just send PMs, and then make a statement here afterwards?
Most GMs I have seen make a post in the recruitment thread to announce who they selected. It seems reasonable to me.

First and foremost I want to thank everyone. I really do, there were so many good character concepts and even better people. Everyone was so kind, and I am flattered by the interest that people showed in this. Picking out six individuals from all of the well put together characters, thoughtful and unique concepts and fantastic players was a very difficult task for me. From Core Classes and Races to seldom-mentioned races sporting the new hybrid classes, I was so happy to read over every character, every PM, every question and every response. Sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, I give everyone my thanks.
Below are the players that I have selected for the campaign.
- Rikash
- Clebsch73
- Lord Foul II
- Leinathan
- Grand Moff Vixen
- Alfrazar
For the players, I will be creating a gameplay thread for everyone to post on to formally join the game, I ask that you post with your alias when I do so (and create an alias if you havent?). From there, we can talk in the OOC Discussion thread to start the campaign up.
Again, everyone, thank you so much for your interest, if you want to take the campaign for your own use, send me a PM and I will help you as much as I can.
