I've got my computer back. But I have another problem. Remember how in the fight with Nualia I drank and extract of enlarge person? I've realized that that shouldn't have worked. I'm not a Person, I'm an Outsider(native). Can I, uh, retroactively adjust my known formulas and take something else instead, going forward?

Just as a quick refresher on Hero Points so folks don't have to go looking for them because, like me, they keep forgetting what the hell the things do:

Act Out of Turn: You can spend a hero point to take your turn immediately. Treat this as a readied action, moving your initiative to just before the currently acting creature. You may only take a move or a standard action on this turn.

Bonus: If used before a roll is made, a hero point grants you a +8 luck bonus to any one d20 roll. If used after a roll is made, this bonus is reduced to +4. You can use a hero point to grant this bonus to another character, as long as you are in the same location and your character can reasonably affect the outcome of the roll (such as distracting a monster, shouting words of encouragement, or otherwise aiding another with the check). Hero Points spent to aid another character grant only half the listed bonus (+4 before the roll, +2 after the roll).

Extra Action: You can spend a hero point on your turn to gain an additional standard or move action this turn.

Inspiration: If you feel stuck at one point in the adventure, you can spend a hero point and petition the GM for a hint about what to do next. If the GM feels that there is no information to be gained, the hero point is not spent.

Recall: You can spend a hero point to recall a spell you have already cast or to gain another use of a special ability that is otherwise limited. This should only be used on spells and abilities possessed by your character that recharge on a daily basis.

Reroll: You may spend a hero point to reroll any one d20 roll you just made. You must take the results of the second roll, even if it is worse.

Special: You can petition the GM to allow a hero point to be used to attempt nearly anything that would normally be almost impossible. Such uses are not guaranteed and should be considered carefully by the GM. Possibilities include casting a single spell that is one level higher than you could normally cast (or a 1st-level spell if you are not a spellcaster), making an attack that blinds a foe or bypasses its damage reduction entirely, or attempting to use Diplomacy to convince a raging dragon to give up its attack. Regardless of the desired action, the attempt should be accompanied by a difficult check or penalty on the attack roll. No additional hero points may be spent on such an attempt, either by the character or her allies.

Cheat Death: A character can spend 2 hero points to cheat death. How this plays out is up to the GM, but generally the character is left alive, with negative hit points but stable. For example, a character is about to be slain by a critical hit from an arrow. If the character spends 2 hero points, the GM decides that the arrow pierced the character’s holy symbol, reducing the damage enough to prevent him from being killed, and that he made his stabilization roll at the end of his turn. Cheating death is the only way for a character to spend more than 1 hero point in a turn. The character can spend hero points in this way to prevent the death of a familiar, animal companion, eidolon, or special mount, but not another character or NPC.

Only I can use my Extracts, but I also have Brew Potion, and made some potions at character creation. Between the bandolier full of CLW potions I have (8 total, unless I'd already given some out. I don't recall.) and Faywen's Kinetic Healer ability (which, IIRC, is basically unlimited), we can probably heal quickly and rush back in. We've done enough damage that I think we can take it on the second try.

Right, the limitation on Kinetic Healer is Burn. I can take 4 more today, but I can pass it on to the person being healed instead. Each person can take 3+Con points of Burn, each of which is 3 points of nonlethal damage which can only be healed via resting. On average right now the ability will heal 14 HP per use.

Hey gang - good job here. That was a tough batle, but you made it!

What with all that is going on these days, I am trying to find ways to cut back on my commitments a little. How do you all feel about me combining this group with another?

I have another Rise of the Runelords campaign that I took over when they lost their GM, and through attrition, they are down to 3 characters. Good group, strong roleplayers, but they are a little underpowered now and I would rather not recruit more. Plus, that would reduce my GM burden by 1, which could be good for me and likely speed things up a little for the game.

If you all are game (and they are too), then they are 1 rather lame event ahead of you, so I think you could skip ahead without missing anything of value.

In any case, we'll let you finish up here (this was the last fight), and you are ready to now level up. (Actually, we might be a little behind here... level up to 4 now, but don't be surprised if we pop up to 5 not long after).

Always good to have some Lesser Restoration on hand. Delay Poison is a spell that's too situational to have prepared every day but is incredible to have on hand when they situation happens. Still have flashbacks about unchained constitution poisons.

This is a good point to merge the campaigns. I have asked the others to join us here, and I have merged the map files and loot lists. I will let them introduce themselves here and their characters in gameplay, but a quick summary of everyone making up the new party.

Surprisingly, there is very little overlap on functions here, so this should be a strong party.

I have combined loot, and for the most part, you all seem to have had pretty similar story elements. One thing that is odd is that the story line starts by picking a particular character of "interest" which is big in the next part, but in both parties, that person is one of the "no longer with us". So I will make do. Also, I think there is a little variation in which NPCs were killed vs captured, but I don't think it should matter much moving forward.

Levels: Everyone should now be level 5. I know this is a jump up for some of you who just leveled up to 4, but I think I was a little behind on you to begin with. According to the storyline, characters should just be gaining level 6 at this point, but as this is now a large party, let's go with level 5 for now and see how it goes.

Something to make my life a little easier: Please update your status bar to reflect your current conditions. Faywen and Druamin have great example of what I would like to see. Many of you are close enough - just add Active: to the end so I know what you are including and what not. I don't need all the skills in there like Faywen has, but you are welcome to keep more. Key is AC, CMD, Saves, Perception & senses. Thanks!

A couple questions for the party.

Which of you likes to jump into melee (besides Trox)? My character is fine in melee but I'm trying to decide if I should spend a feat on a melee-centric feat or something else.

I'm always happy to jump into combat. In the Alchemist's Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde dichotomy, Reynard comes down firmly on the Hyde side.

Faywen prefers to fight at range, but her Kinetic Blade infusion lets her switch it up, especially since at level 5 she can reduce the Burn cost of it from 1 to 0, meaning she doesn't need to gather power for it. She's also pretty tanky, with the second highest AC in the party (before buffing) and a ton of hit points (thanks, 18 Con!).

This is René. He's currently pretending to be completely non-magical and basically serves at the party's good luck charm. Which is to say, expect lots of witch hexes debuffing the enemy. He also does some amount of buffing, but typically saves those for if a fight looks hard since they use more resources.

He tries to stay out of melee, tends to laugh a lot in battle, and when he does actually cast spells, typically tries to pass them off as doing something else. Eventually, someone will catch on though. Or the situation will be dire enough that he'll just have to do something he can't pass off as good/bad luck.

Questions:

1) Which 2 PCs have the same picture? They all look different to me.

2) Do we really have 8 PCs? It looks like all 8 have posted recently, so it seems like.

3) What is everyone? I haven't gone through character sheets, and not everyone's stats line shows class and such.

4) Are we sure all PCs are made with the same build rules?

5) Feat Tax alterations?
