"I can't leave this one! I don't want it slinking away. Darius, just tackle it to the ground. You can kill or capture it after."

Hold Action

Male Human Paladin/1

Darius nods and charges the goblin, attempting to tackle the beast.

CMB:
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

Is that the correct roll?

@Darius:Well, it beat the goblin's CMD, so you succeed. Depending on what what you're trying to accomplish, this will either be a Grapple, or a Trip Maneuver. Either one provokes an AoO, so are you trying to grab hold of the goblin or knock it back off it's feet?

I'll do the roll once you decide.

Male Human Paladin/1

Grab him.

Goblinb AoO:

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 211d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

ouch!

Darius gets a nasty cut on his side, but grabs hold of the rider

Gellius is up.

Male Human Paladin/1

unless I missed something somewhere, that puts me at -2.

I had you at full hp courtesy of Caladrian's last channel energy.

Male Dwarf Fighter - 1

I'm confused. Did darius just grapple the rider or the other stunned goblin? I thought he was with the stunned one not currently bound.

.... Well, dang. Now I'm confused.

@Darius: Which goblin did you grapple?

Male Human Paladin/1

I thought I was going after the mounted goblin.

@Darius: OK, then you have him secured for now, he can't swing that pole-arm of his at any rate. You're at 5 hp by my count. Hurt, but still up and running.

Gellius is now up.

The Goblin rider Darius is holding after that.

If anyone thinks they can convince him to surrender will have a DC 25 to beat (he, "really", doesn't like you all).

Male Human Rogue 1

Now that it is grappled. Just smack it into unconsciousness IMO.

Elf Wizard (Conjuration) 4/ Hp: 32/32 Init: +5; Perception +11(+13); AC 13(17)/13/10(14); F+2, R+4, W+5; CMD: 16

I am on board with this plan.

@Weylyn: So are you taking your action now?

Male Human Rogue 1

No sir. It's Gellius' turn.

@All: After some rule-referencing, it turns out that the Goblin rider's effective AC, atm, is 10.

Ranged attacks still have the -4 to-hit modifer as it is "engaged" with Darius.

Gellius orders Faux to watch over the waking goblins and moves over to take a swing at the rider.

1d20 ⇒ 191d6 ⇒ 5

Finally!

The staff hit breaks the goblin's neck, killing it instantly

You all are out of combat

The Sheriff and Father Zantus run up to the group. The sounds of the raid begin to die away as the rest of the goblins are either captured, killed, or chased off.

"Well! That was as good an interview as any, friends.", says the Sheriff as he waves over a few of Town Guard to take charge of the goblin prisoners. "Come by the Town Hall and I'll give you the particulars of the hunt you were asking about this morning."

With that, he nods and walks away withe secured prisoners. Father Zantus walks among you all, casting Cure Light Wounds as needed.

Was there anything any of you wanted to do before we end the scene?

Male Human Rogue 1

"Don't forget to set out the good wine for my legitiment return to your hall Hemlock. I expect nothing but the best!"

Weylyn calls playfully as the Sheriff saunters off.

Male Dwarf Fighter - 1

Oded takes a look at the scene; blood and gore covers parts of the ground thanks to the dead goblins. He finds the nearest dead goblin, and looks for a scrap of clean clothing to wipe his face, arms and axe off with. A sigh escapes as he shivers, the adrenaline beginning to wear off, and the pain of his wounds setting in.

Silence seems the best policy, just for now. He walks around to the various dead goblins, seeing what meager possessions they may have; the spoils of battle to be split among the victors. It may be harsh, but Oded felt comfortable with it. They were the defenders, not the aggressors.

Looting time, I've lost track of how many are dead/unlooted. I know I grabbed some money after the first skirmish. Also, gonna update a few stats now that battle is over. I am a little worried about Gellius tho.

Elf Wizard (Conjuration) 4/ Hp: 32/32 Init: +5; Perception +11(+13); AC 13(17)/13/10(14); F+2, R+4, W+5; CMD: 16

Berenwyr follows Oded and tries to point out a particularly nasty gobbet of blood and gristle that still clings to his beard, then shakes himself and mutters a quick incantation.

Prestidigitation:

School universal; Level bard 0, sorcerer/wizard 0

Casting Time 1 standard action

Components V, S

Range 10 ft.

Target, Effect, or Area see text

Duration 1 hour

Saving Throw see text; Spell Resistance no

Prestidigitations are minor tricks that novice spellcasters use for practice. Once cast, a prestidigitation spell enables you to perform simple magical effects for 1 hour. The effects are minor and have severe limitations. A prestidigitation can slowly lift 1 pound of material. It can color, clean, or soil items in a 1-foot cube each round. It can chill, warm, or flavor 1 pound of nonliving material. It cannot deal damage or affect the concentration of spellcasters. Prestidigitation can create small objects, but they look crude and artificial. The materials created by a prestidigitation spell are extremely fragile, and they cannot be used as tools, weapons, or spell components. Finally, prestidigitation lacks the power to duplicate any other spell effects. Any actual change to an object (beyond just moving, cleaning, or soiling it) persists only 1 hour.

The magic cleans off the remaining gore and brushes the dwarf's beard. Meanwhile, his clothes become neat, and even his axe looks thoroughly polished.

Nodding to himself, the elf sizes up the remainder of his brothers in arms and begins straightening them out as well, clothes, become brushed and tidy, weapons and armor gleam as though newly polished.

Going a step further for himself, the wizard cleans up the sloppy goblin barbering, and even adds a faint, arcane spark to his own eyes, creating an eerie effect.

Nodding to himself, he turns back to the others. Thank you all. I would have been dead if not for your quick actions and strong arms. Unfortunately, I seem to still have an inclination to rush into danger, but I am impressed with our teamwork. Perhaps a bit of healing for Oded and Darius who seem to have caught the worst of things. But honestly, I am amazed. Well done, everyone! He then joins Oded in examining the dead goblins, interested to see if they carried anything of value.

With the exception of their knives, the goblins really didn't have much with them. The only spoils worth having is the sack Oded already picked up.

Male Human Rogue 1

How do the gobo knives compare to Weylyn's own daggers?

Male Dwarf Fighter - 1

Yes, it was a good battle. I've got a little bit of gold off of one of the first ones. It looks like its about three and a bit gold pieces per person. Not shabby.

Oded looks down to see himself clean again, thankful for the bit of magic, even if it was a little uncomfortable. Magic always made him a little anxious, especially the idea that he couldnt see what was going on.

Errr, now what, lads?

Elf Wizard (Conjuration) 4/ Hp: 32/32 Init: +5; Perception +11(+13); AC 13(17)/13/10(14); F+2, R+4, W+5; CMD: 16

At least five gold each by my count, Oded. Berenwyr looks around to see if any of the villagers he has met seem to be injured. I suppose we should make our way over to the Town Hall.

He rubs his chin through the cloth mask and thinks for a moment.

Knowledge(Nature): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

Does anyone else find it odd that these goblins would attack in broad daylight, when everyone is out and about? If I recall correctly, these creatures prefer the dark, and are typically quite cowardly. I wonder what possessed them to attack in force in the light of day...

Oh, missed the part about the CLW from the npc priest.

@Berenwyr: They seemed rather confident during the raid.

Male Human Paladin/1

After cleaning his sword, Darius slides it back into his sheath before joining the others. "Now that was a battle! For a moment I thought the little nasties were going to get the better of me. Thank you friends for the assistance. Tonight the drink is on me! The paladin laughs loudly and slaps Berenwyr on the shoulder.

Male Human Cleric of Irori 1

"It was most certainly an unusual raid. I am no expert to goblins, but this does seem like a poor time in order to strike at the town."

Male Human Paladin/1

"Their ferocity was surprising."

Elf Wizard (Conjuration) 4/ Hp: 32/32 Init: +5; Perception +11(+13); AC 13(17)/13/10(14); F+2, R+4, W+5; CMD: 16

Berenwyr nearly falls over from the exuberant paladin's friendly gesture before managing to catch himself.

A drink sounds wonderful. Just one though. We'll want to have our wits about us at the Town Hall.

Male Dwarf Fighter - 1

I'm with the elf. a good drink tonight perhaps, but I'd be interested in what they have to say. I'm curious what else they might know judging from what we overheard this morning.

Oded's sense of protection is starring to rear its head. Especially against goblins and their ilk.

The sun finally moves below the western horizon and night begins to fall. Town residents begin to appear to clean up the mess and tend to the wounded. It looks to be a busy evening for all.

Male Human Rogue 1

"In all my years in sandpoint. I've never seen goblins behave this way. I can't wait to speak to one of the little blighters. I'll get the truth from him..."

Weylyn speaks to a pair of dog slicers, but loud enough for the party to hear him. He wipes the grime from the blades and tuck then in his belt.

At the mention of drink:

"Worry not friends. Very likely no one will need to buy drinks for anyone. I hear the sheriff takes a tumbler for every guest at these type of meetings. We should all be satisfied in drink tonight. And I don't know about the rest of you, but I for one am all for getting this meeting started. Shall we?"

Elf Wizard (Conjuration) 4/ Hp: 32/32 Init: +5; Perception +11(+13); AC 13(17)/13/10(14); F+2, R+4, W+5; CMD: 16

Berenwyr nods his assent and makes his way over to the Town Hall.

Male Human Paladin/1

"Let's." Darius follwers the others.

As you approach the town hall door, you are stopped, yet again, by Deputy Drum.

"Sorry, gents, the hall is closed for tonight. The Sheriff and Mayor are busy interrogating the surviving raiders and they and expect to be at it for awhile. He asked me to tell you to come by tomorrow to discus the job. He also said to head on over to the Rusty Dragon for a meal and a round on him."

Drum lets out a chuckle, "Though if I'm right, Amieko'll probably give it to you on the house. She's nice like that."

He gives Weylyn a hard look. "You did good for once, Dell. Keep it and I 'may' begin to tolerate you."

Male Human Rogue 1

"Thank you Drum. I think I 'may' begin to tolerate your prudishness just because I'm feeling generous."

Weylyn chuckles.

"Seriously though Drum, do our esteemed Mayor or Sheriff understand the goblin tongue? 'twould be a shame to beat our source out of his wits before anyone could understand it. Why don't you go tell the sheriff his translator is here. He's expecting me."

Diplomacy 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

"Gorvi's up with them and he's fluent. So get out of here and celebrate. y'all earned it,"

Elf Wizard (Conjuration) 4/ Hp: 32/32 Init: +5; Perception +11(+13); AC 13(17)/13/10(14); F+2, R+4, W+5; CMD: 16

Thanks Barney! You don't have to tell us twice.

Berenwyr puts an arm around Weylyn and turns him toward the bar.

Now, young Weylyn, let us feast and frolic and perhaps meet some of the upstanding maidens of Sandpoint. Or, better yet, the not-so-upstanding ones. Ha!

Male Human Rogue 1

"Thank you Drum! It's always a boon not to be responsible. You will come fetch us tomorrow won't you? I can say with some certainty that morning will find us abed. Whether from sleep or not remains to be seen!"

"Come lads, the night awaits. MAKE WAY FOR THE HEROES OF SANDPOINT!"

Weylyn shouts his jest as he truly does not believe his action were more than warrented by every citizen.

Male Dwarf Fighter - 1

Well, that was anticlimactic. Remember what I said about drinking before? Ignore that.

Oded feels the call of the beer, after what was undoubtedly a rough day.

The change of mood on the thief is quite obvious, but perhaps thats just the stress of the day getting to him.

The Rusty Dragon

The Common Room is somewhat subdued compared to the prior evening. Some of the patrons have the appearance of shock, others relief, and worry on yet others.

One of them looks up when you enter and smiles,"It's them, the group that saved my life and took out many of the marauders!"

You recognize him as the human that was hiding behind the rain barrel.

"My name is Aldren Foxglove and I didn't have the chance to properly thank-you!", he exclaims as he moves towards your group.[/i]"Allow me to start by buying you each a drink of the finest Mistress Ameiko has on hand!'

He grabs Oded's hand and shakes it vigorously,And you, my Axe-weilding friend, allow me to pay for lodgings and meals for the night. As I had said, it is the least I can do for one who's masterfull use of such a lethal weapon has saved my skin from becoming a goblin's tapestry."

More of the patrons look up and whispers of "That's them" and "How far did the gobiln's head go?" and "Saved my boy, the Elf did." and "Tackled him? While the goblin had a horse-chopper? He must be very brave or a blessed fool..." begin to circulate around to common room.

@Weylyn: You happen to see the woman who 'helped' you this morning near the hearth.

The two minstrels from last night and this morning start up a lively tune as the mood in the common lightens considerably.

Male Dwarf Fighter - 1

Ah, good to see you. Glad you made it out alright. Errr, sorry about your dog. He died a hero, though. Without him, we never would have made it. Thank you for the food and bed. Your next round is on me, though.

Oded shakes the man's hand, gives him a nice slap on the back, and escorts him to the bar. The chance to drink on someone's tab is too good to pass up.

Male Human Paladin/1

Darius quickly disappears into the crowd. His booming voice and hearty laugh can be heard now and again as he tells his version of the battle, embellishing where need be.

Male Human Rogue 1

Weylyn fakes a shiver and moves toward the hearth. He stands warming his hands and pretends not to notice the lady.

I wonder if she'll speak to me.

Elf Wizard (Conjuration) 4/ Hp: 32/32 Init: +5; Perception +11(+13); AC 13(17)/13/10(14); F+2, R+4, W+5; CMD: 16

A glass of wine would be most welcome, Mistress Ameiko.

Berenwyr looks about for anyone he recognizes in the tavern, or barring that, a friendly face.

Male Dwarf Fighter - 1

The drinks continue and Oded enjoys the feeling of being famous. He'd never really felt this way before, and having others really thankful for his service put Oded in a good mood. He wanders around the tavern, joining his friends and making new ones.

@Weylyn:The woman looks up at your approach and smiles,"I saw you out there during the raid. Rather interesting techniques, though you don't seem to have them down just yet."

Male Human Rogue 1

"Ha! Oh you know exactly what a tired man wants to hear after a hard day. Do you have a name or shall I call you Shrew?"

@Berenwyr: You see a familiar Gnome trying to wave you over.

@Weylyn: She smirks,"It's Misha Plower. Do 'you' have a name or should I refer to you as 'The Cut-rate Cutpurse'?", she asks bemusedly.
