For The Record

Round 1 of the combat has:

Berenwyr at 22

Oded at 20

Goblin Group at 19

Caladrian at 18

Weylyn at 13

Darius at 12

Gellius at 8

Mounted Goblin at 5

Dog at 3

The dog and mounted goblin is about 60' away and the group of goblin are about 10' away from them.

Elf Wizard (Conjuration) 4/ Hp: 32/32 Init: +5; Perception +11(+13); AC 13(17)/13/10(14); F+2, R+4, W+5; CMD: 16

Damn in all to AbbadonBerenwyr whispers through clenched teeth. It never rains but it pours. Once more into the breach dear friends! If I don't make it home, tell the elf maidens I loved them all! And someone, keep those unconscious goblins out of this fight!

Berenwyr moves 30' towards the goblins and once more unlocks the arcane might within his mind, strangely enough by pulling a small bit of butter out of his pouch and squeezing it between his fingers.

Grease:

School conjuration (creation); Level bard 1, sorcerer/wizard 1
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S, M (butter)
Range close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Target one object or 10-ft. square
Duration 1 min./level (D)
Save see text; SR no
A grease spell covers a solid surface with a layer of slippery grease. Any creature in the area when the spell is cast must make a successful Reflex save or fall. A creature can walk within or through the area of grease at half normal speed with a DC 10 Acrobatics check. Failure means it can't move that round (and must then make a Reflex save or fall), while failure by 5 or more means it falls (see the Acrobatics skill for details). Creatures that do not move on their turn do not need to make this check and are not considered flat-footed.

The spell can also be used to create a greasy coating on an item. Material objects not in use are always affected by this spell, while an object wielded or employed by a creature requires its bearer to make a Reflex saving throw to avoid the effect. If the initial saving throw fails, the creature immediately drops the item. A saving throw must be made in each round that the creature attempts to pick up or use the greased item. A creature wearing greased armor or clothing gains a +10 circumstance bonus on Escape Artist checks and combat maneuver checks made to escape a grapple, and to their CMD to avoid being grappled.

A greasy sheen ten feet on each side appears under the mounted goblin and his rodent steed.

Any creature within the area of effect needs to make a DC14 Reflex save or fall prone. I'm not sure if the mounted goblin needs to make a riding check or something else. Sweeper, how many goblins are in the group on foot?

The Wizard has put himself in harms way yet again. :)

Oded is up.

Male Dwarf Fighter - 1

Oded yells at the elf as he runs off, Damnit all, elf. You nearly died pulling this stunt last time. Keep it up, and you'll get the rest of us killed.

Anger fueling him, Oded draws his axe and hastens after the wizard.

Swap standard action for move action, so moving 20ft towards Berenwyr, and draw axe.

@Oded: You put your Axe away? When?

Elf Wizard (Conjuration) 4/ Hp: 32/32 Init: +5; Perception +11(+13); AC 13(17)/13/10(14); F+2, R+4, W+5; CMD: 16

Swap standard action for move action, so moving 20ft towards Berenwyr, and draw axe.

You can still draw your weapon as a free action during your move because your BAB is at least +1.

PFSRD:
Draw or Sheathe a Weapon
Drawing a weapon so that you can use it in combat, or putting it away so that you have a free hand, requires a move action. This action also applies to weapon-like objects carried in easy reach, such as wands. If your weapon or weapon-like object is stored in a pack or otherwise out of easy reach, treat this action as retrieving a stored item.

If you have a base attack bonus of +1 or higher, you may draw a weapon as a free action combined with a regular move. If you have the Two-Weapon Fighting feat, you can draw two light or one-handed weapons in the time it would normally take you to draw one. emphasis added

Drawing ammunition for use with a ranged weapon (such as arrows, bolts, sling bullets, or shuriken) is a free action.

I was kind of hoping you'd double move all the way (40') up, cause, you know, I'm squishy.

Male Dwarf Fighter - 1

I move up the whole way (30ish feet), and get in front of the moron elf using a double move. ;)

Oded Firehand, Yesterday, 11:08 PM wrote:

I'm just wondering where he said he sheathed his axe. I can't seem to find it. I thought Oded would Dbl move so he could at least get in front of Berenwyr.

OK, then.

5 goblins start to move forward. They keep their distance from the hated dog

The 5 goblins move up 10', keeping away from the mounted goblin.

Caladrian is now up.

Male Human Cleric of Irori 1

Keeping his quarterstaff at the ready... Caladrian moves quickly to stand by Berenwyr and ensure he does not face these things alone.

Will move or double move in order to stand next to Berenwyr.

Weylyn is up.

Male Human Rogue 1

"Cover me Darius!"

Weylyn charges the oncoming goblins in a wild attempt to hold their attention. He targets the dog-like creature!

Gods, I hope Darius covers me on this one.

Charge Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 If target is flat footed (I think it is since it hasn't acted yet?) + 1d8 ⇒ 3

6 damage if I hit.

Crosses fingers...

Elf Wizard (Conjuration) 4/ Hp: 32/32 Init: +5; Perception +11(+13); AC 13(17)/13/10(14); F+2, R+4, W+5; CMD: 16

Uh, the doglike creature is surrounded by a 10' square of magical grease...

Male Human Rogue 1

Sorry, i missed that.

GM, can I charge the closest goblin that is not going to end my move in grease?

@Weylyn: The nearest goblin not on a greasy street has 4 friends with him. You could get there, but you'll probably be surrounded for at least one round.

Male Human Rogue 1

I am hoping Darius will run up here and back me up so I don't get surrounded :P

Well, if you're sure...:

The Rogue charges into the group of goblins,(who aren't flat-footed), attempts to take one down and misses. He is now among the goblin group

Weylyn is at -2 AC until his next turn.

Darius is up and has his work cut out for him. :)

Male Human Rogue 1

This is Weylyn trying to prove to himself and his party of honorable goddy goody friends, that he is a good guy too. Also, he just suggested murder and is chaotic: he's taking a muligan - not a good one, but there you go.

Male Human Paladin/1

Darius charges in behind the rogue, his laughter can be heard above the sound of battle. "That's the way, Weylyn! Take the fight to them!"

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 141d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Darius charges up to Weylyn's aid, sword swinging. But alas, it doesn't bite into goblin flesh this time.

Darius is at -2 AC until his next turn.

Gellius is up.

Lantern Lodge

"That's the one we want the one on the dog." Gellius says thinking about the goblin prisoners. He starts to cast a spell to calm the beast the goblin sits atop.

Cast calm animals on the dog. 2d4 + 0 ⇒ (4, 4) + 0 = 8

"Don't threaten the dog I have it under control for now. Just get the rider." he says confidently.

Hope that is a goblin dog.

Gellius: Let's see....

Will save:

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12

That beat your DC?

The mount starts to slip and slide around.

Mount Reflex Save:

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

The mount manages to keep it's footing. Long enough for the mounted goblin to slash out with it's weapon and take down the dog. You hear a heart-tugging squeal as the dog collapses in a pool of blood.

For The Record

Round 2 of the combat has:

Berenwyr at 22

Oded at 20

Goblin Group at 19

Caladrian at 18

Weylyn at 13

Darius at 12

Gellius at 8

Mounted Goblin at 5

Darius and Weylyn are engaged with the goblin group and are at -2 AC until they act. The Goblin's Mount's status is pending on weither it made it's will save or not.

The Human is still cowering behind the rain-barrel and begins to sob.

Berenwyr, Caladrian, Gellius and Oded are all about 30' away from the ensuing melee

Gellius: Make a DC 12 KN: Nature check to see what the mount actually is actually is.

And we begin The new round with Berenwyr.

Elf Wizard (Conjuration) 4/ Hp: 32/32 Init: +5; Perception +11(+13); AC 13(17)/13/10(14); F+2, R+4, W+5; CMD: 16

Berenwyr scrutinizes Gellius' actions.
I hope that veterinarian knows what he's doing.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 Spellcraft to understand what Gellius is doing.

Berenwyr conjures another acidic dart and hurls it the mounted goblin.

Acid Dart 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 vs. touch AC (Sweeper, I'm assuming that because the other dog is dead, the mounted goblin is no longer in melee, and that I'm not incurring the -4. If this is incorrect, then I will make my ranged touch attack against one of the group of 5 goblins who has not yet closed into melee with Darius and Weylyn. If everyone is in melee, then I'm targeting the mounted goblin.) Not that it matters, lol.

After hurling his arcane missile, Berenwyr reaches into his robes and produces a flask of Alchemist's Fire. Well, I certainly hope it doesn't come to this...

He then calls to the cowering man, Get out of here while we hold their attention! Bring help! Move! Now!

Color sprayed goblins are unconscious for 2 more rounds, then blinded and stunned for 3 more rounds, then stunned for 1 more round, Berenwyr is AC 13, 11/11 hp

Male Dwarf Fighter - 1

Before I go, lemme get a picture. Caladrian and Gellius are like 60ft from the mounted gobbie, and the human cowering in fear now that his dog died. What does he do now that Beren's dart went flying past the mounted goblin? Beren and I are about 30ft closer than the other two, 30ft away. The band of gobbies surrounding the two moro... err... headstrong adventurers are nearby the mounted goblin? That about it? Thanks sweep.

Male Dwarf Fighter - 1

Oded surveys the situation. He sees the lone man, now defenseless. But the mounted goblin seems to be having problems. Oded takes all this in, and knowing the risks, charges the nearest goblin in the band of five.

Combat:

If there are any flanking bonuses to be had, then that influences his choices. Otherwise, whomever is closest. Also, please ignore typos, coming from phone. :)
Combat=1d12 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Damage=1d12 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

@Berenwyr: The Mounted Goblin is currently not in melee, yes.

@Oded: The Human is actually hiding behind the rain barrel which is 10' or so from the dead dog, this puts the mounted goblin 15' away from the barrel. The Goblin group and about 2/3 of your melee power are 30' away from you current position and 10' from the mounted goblin, (think triangle). If/when Darius and Weylyn get surrounded, that'll put 1 or 2 goblins at 25' from your position. This will most likely happen on their turn (which is after yours).

So what do you do?

@Oded: Make a Reflex save and hope you roll high.

Edit: Nevermind, misread the post.

Oded charges into the group of 5 goblins, one rogue and one paladin. His mighty,(and bloody), Axe crushes a goblin into the ground.

Male Dwarf Fighter - 1

Crappity Crap, lol
Reflex=1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15

[edit]Still attacking the melee party. Can only make it w charge, so use that prev roll.

Sorry, I thought you were charging the mounted goblin.

The four remaining goblins try to maneuver to get at good flanking positions. Unfortunately, they don't seem to know squat about squad-level tactics as their moving about opens up Opportunities to good waste,

They failed a will check not do something stupid and each goblin, in attempting to maneuver, has opened itself up for an AoO from Darius, Oded and Weylyn.

Yes, I actually rolled to see if the goblins would do something stupid like this and they all failed.

So have at it, gents.

Male Dwarf Fighter - 1

score one for the good guys. also it autocorrected guys to Giuseppe.

rolls:

attack=1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
dmg=1d12 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

I'm the Ted Williams of killing goblins. lol.

Male Human Paladin/1

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 91d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Maybe you should just let the goblins put me out of my misery.

Male Human Rogue 1

AoO from Weylyn 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 + 1d8 ⇒ 1 if flanking.

I agree with Darius...just end it for poor useless Weylyn. lol.

Male Human Cleric of Irori 1

Making my post now, as I'll most likely be gone most of the day. Feel free to add this to the initiative where applicable.
Understanding the necessity of physically confronting these goblins, Caladrian does what he is able to in order to wade into the fray, swinging his quarterstaff at the little monsters.

Move action to move to the group of 5 goblins, followed by a regular attack.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

@Caladrian: OK

One of the goblins go down leaving 3 left to fight. Two of them manage to flank Darius and the other steps up to face Oded.

Goblin #1 (on Darius):

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 221d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Goblin #2 (on Darius):

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 121d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Goblin #5 (on Oded):

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 71d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

[i]Goblin #1 gets a hit in on Darius for 5 pts.

Caladrian steps in to flank one of Darius's flankers, (but still didn't get high enough to hit).

Weylyn is up.

Male Human Rogue 1

Weylyn slides over a step to get a better position against the goblins and attacks! 5 foot step

Flanking Two-Weapon Sneak Attack 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16 for 1d4 + 1 + 1d8 ⇒ (2) + 1 + (3) = 6

Flanking Two-Weapon Sneak Attack 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3 for 1d4 + 1 + 1d8 ⇒ (3) + 1 + (6) = 10

Darius is no longer flanked

Another death gurgle sounds as the Rouge steps up and takes a goblin out.

Darius is up and has a flanking bonus courtesy of Caladrian.

Male Human Paladin/1

"I've had enough of...THIS!" Darius yells and grits his teeth as he, again, tries to connect.

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 111d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

The young paladin misses, again, and stumbles, his head spinning from the damage he has suffered at the hands of the goblins.

Make sure you get all the modifiers in correctly, folks. Could mean the difference between a hit and miss.

Gellius and co. are now up.

Lantern Lodge

Gellius not wanting to steps up to attack one of the pesky goblins. He aims his quarterstaff at the things midsection as Faux growls angrily by his side.

"not wanting to" = not wanting to get into melee he sucks at it

attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (15) + 0 = 15... 1d6 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2

XCrawl Inter-dimensional Scrye Games transcript

Jim: "Gellius steps up to the plate. It is his first time at bat."

Bob: "That's right, Jim. Geliius Frispin, currently an animal healer in the Town of Sandpoint, has spoken softly and carried a big stick for years, but has never used it until now. Let's see how he does in his rookie appearance."

Jim: "The Druid sets up... Swing! and a miss. That wasn't too bad, though. He grazed the top of his opponent's head. Missed it by an inch."

Bob: Close, unfortunately, only counts with Thrown Area-effect Weapons. However, Gellius is not wounded and will most likely survive the rest of the combat. It's up to teamwork and the fickleness of Fate."

Jim: "This live scryecast is brought to you by Bhuddawieser Brewery. Bhuddaweiser, the less you want it, the better it tastes."

Bob: "And now back to the combat..."

The Goblin and it's mount try to move off the greased part of the road.

Reflex Save:

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

The mount slips and falls, threatening to throw the goblin.

Ride Animal check:

1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25

The Goblin manages to stay mounted, but it's mount is knocked silly.

For The Record

Round 3 of the Combat has:

Berenwyr at 22

Oded at 20

Goblin at 19

Caladrian at 18

Weylyn at 13

Darius at 12

Gellius at 8

Mounted Goblin at 5

The remaining goblin of the group has quite a few players to deal with.

The mounted goblin is trying to get it's mount back on it paws.

Berenwyr is up.

Male Dwarf Fighter - 1

Not to tempt fate, but there are two gobbies in that group left, right? There were three, then Weylyn got one of them.

Also, the commentary got a nice laugh, with the fiancee asking me what was so damn funny. I dunno if that is standard, but I'm digging the humor, sweep.

Yes, there are two remaining goblins. (hate when the coffee doesn't take effect yet).

Elf Wizard (Conjuration) 4/ Hp: 32/32 Init: +5; Perception +11(+13); AC 13(17)/13/10(14); F+2, R+4, W+5; CMD: 16

Yeah, two goblins left in the group of 5 by my count. Hopefully this honesty won't bite us in the butt.

Berenwyr surveys the scene. Seeing that his comrades have the two remaining goblins in hand for the moment, and that the victims of his color spray have yet to regain consciousness, he calmly prepares his flask of Alchemist's fire for use. When it is ready, he says to Singe,

Plu fflasg hyn yn uwch na'r Goblin gosod fy ffrind. Os bydd yn symud i ddianc, gollwng arno o ddeg troedfedd uwchben, ac yna dychwelyd i mi.

Elven:
Fly this flask above the mounted goblin my friend. If he moves to escape, drop it on him from ten feet above, then return to me.

The raven caws and grips the flask in its talons, then flies above the goblin rider.

Crunch:
Berenwyr prepares the Alchemist's fire as a full round action. Berenwyr speaks to Singe as a free action. Singe takes the flask as a move action. Singe flies above the goblin as a move action. Berenwyr is done for the round. Singe's Str score is 2, so up to 6lbs is light encumbrance, the flask weighs 1lb, so it won't have an effect on his speed or AC. When he drops the flask, it will be a ranged touch attack at +2. How the alchemist's fire and the magical grease will interact will be an interesting lesson for us all.

Color Sprayed goblins will regain consciousness next round, but will still be Blinded and Stunned for 3 rounds, then Stunned for 1 round after that.

Blinded:
The creature cannot see. It takes a –2 penalty to Armor Class, loses its Dexterity bonus to AC (if any), and takes a –4 penalty on most Strength- and Dexterity-based skill checks and on opposed Perception skill checks. All checks and activities that rely on vision (such as reading and Perception checks based on sight) automatically fail. All opponents are considered to have total concealment (50% miss chance) against the blinded character. Blind creatures must make a DC 10 Acrobatics skill check to move faster than half speed. Creatures that fail this check fall prone. Characters who remain blinded for a long time grow accustomed to these drawbacks and can overcome some of them.

Stunned:
A stunned creature drops everything held, can't take actions, takes a –2 penalty to AC, and loses its Dexterity bonus to AC (if any).

Attackers receive a +4 bonus on attack rolls to perform combat maneuvers against a stunned opponent.

Oded is up.

Male Dwarf Fighter - 1

Oded watches as Weylyn slips a dagger into the side of a goblin, who falls to the ground. He smiles, before targeting another goblin.

I've lost track of who is facing who. So for the moment, if there is any way he can get behind one of them and flank, he'll do that.

rolls:

attack=1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
dmg=1d12 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

Christ. If these were real dice, I'd assume they're loaded.

Now you're down to one goblin. :)

The remaining goblin looks around at all the "longshanks" bearing down on it.

Will save vs DC 15(the odds are not with this one):

1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16

Wow.

The goblin girds itself and lunges at the deadly dwarf.

Attack against Oded:

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 181d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

It gets a hit in on the fighter for 5 pts of damage
