The door swings open to reveal a room larger than the previous one. This huge room looks like nothing more than an immense underground cathedral. Stone doors stand to either side of the main entrance, but beyond this, the walls are carved with strange, spiky runes. In the center of the room is a large pool, a ring of polished human skulls balanced on stone spikes arranged in a circle around the deeper midsection. At the far end of the room, a pair of stone stairways leads up to a pulpit on which sits a second pool, this one triangular and filled with churning, bubbling water that looks almost like translucent lava. Yet while wisps of what look like heat and steam rise from the strange orange liquid, the room itself is deathly cold.

As the party enters the room, a tiny creature can be seen buzzing around the second tier pool. Ram horns curve back over a hideous face contorted in wrath, and its foot and a half long body is thin and wiry. It turns towards you, screaming at the top of its little lungs "Fools! You dare intrude upon the Mother's sanctum! You petty little mortals shall learn proper reverence for the Lady of Wrath!" With this, she draws a blade across her palm, a few drops of blood hitting the pool and making the roiling waters increase ten fold. As the roiling begins, the glow from the waters diminishes.

DC 12 K. Planes:
You manage to identify this beast as a Quasit, a lower form of a demon. Pure chaotic evil, they are only the second rung from the bottom of the demon hierarchy, and are most often found as familiars to evil wizards. For ever 5 you exceed the DC you get one more bit of intel.

DC 20 Sense Motive:
You note a sudden look of worry on the Quasits face as the glow diminished in the well.

"Oh ew! What is that?" says Kiera loudly. "I don't care, just do something about it!" With that she launches the typical small bolt of acid.

With my shield raised and my axe in my other hand, I cautiously walk towards this strange creature. Then she cuts herself to let the blood fall into the rolling water I hold my breath, expecting an explosion or something ... but when the glow fades I look confused. "O...kay, not what I was expecting, looks like you weren't expecting it either."

I believe I have moved 40 feet from the door, but if I can get another square forwards then I will. Either way it has taken a double move to get there. Also I get to ignore difficult terrain from rubble and stairs when 5 foot stepping, so hoping that it means I can ignore it while walking normally too, otherwise I will be 10 feet too far forwards.

Volkar moved forward his axe shifting into his left hand as he moved his right hand down to one of the armed casks. He kept looking about the room to see if there were any other creatures in this underground cathedral.

The team starts to move in, and the creature can feel the noose tightening around it.. "Fools! The Mother will have your heads when I am through with you!!!" she quickly casts a spell, muttering in a demonic language.

The spell being cast is Bane

Everyone please make a DC 14 Will save or take -1 attack, -1 vs fear

Finished with the spell, she darts to the middle of the room. The water behind her increases its thrashing and roiling.

Volkar moved quickly to the right towards the flying creature. He hesitated as the warning from Andrezi played out in his mind. Bomb cask or axe blade?, he asked himself. He waited to see what the thing did next.

Andrezi lets loose a bolt, but it flies just to the side of the tiny creature, and her spell casting is uninterrupted. Volkar and Daelric move forward into the room, trying to catch the creature in a pincer move. Volkar hesitates at Andrezzi's call, though, and Daelric moves in alone.

Kiera chants and focuses. She grits her teeth and launches bolts of magical energy at the creature!

Spending 1 point from arcane reservoir to boost caster level by 1, which gives me two missiles from magic missile.

Kiera sends two bolts of magical energy into the thing hovering over the pools, singing her little body and eliciting a cry from the beast. Apparently, its been a while since anyone dared to hurt it..

"You shall pay dearly for that, little girl!" she screams at Kiera. Simultaneously, several things pop out into the room.. A roiling wave of flesh gushes out of nothingness and plops onto the ground at the feet of Andrezzi and Kiera. Amid the fatty surge wriggle half-formed limbs and a dripping tumorous face.

It turns its many visages towards the young wizardess who so recently hurt its master, and lashes out with its claws, but cant come close to its target.

At the other end of the room:
Climbing out of the pool the flying thing dripped her blood into is another frightful nightmare. A horribly deformed humanoid, hairless and emaciated, lurches from the water. Its unnaturally long arms end in three-fingered talons, and its legs bend like those of a dog. A writhing network of bulging veins form dark blue patterns across its pallid skin. But worst of all is its face—its nose is little more than a pair of slits, and its eyes are bulging and red. The lower jaw splits in half at the chin into two wretched arms that end in tiny three-fingered hands to either side an open gullet with a lolling tongue. It quickly turns towards Daelric. claws squeal against metal, as the dwarfs sturdy armour turns the beast back.

As both of her pets are stymied by the party, The flying thing turns towards Volkar as the closest threat. She zips in close to the dwarf, attempting to lay her tiny hands upon him. Her touch caresses the dwarfs bearded cheek, and crippling pain flows through Volkar.

You would normally receive an AOO as she is a tiny creature, and has to enter your square to attack. However, you did not draw a weapon last round.. Info Found Here

Identify Thing 2: DC 11 Planes:
The least of devilkind, lemures roil forth from the ranks of souls damned to Hell, shapeless masses of quivering flesh. Moving lemures typically congeal in forms over 4 feet tall and weigh upward of 200 pounds, though when at rest these disgusting fiends often appear to be little more than lumps of melted flesh and malformed features.

Identify Thing 3: DC 12 Dunguneering:
Sinspawn are a mockery of the flesh, the shape of humanity warped and twisted by an all-encompassing wrath, transforming their familiar shape into one of horror and ruin. Created by the Runelords, they are shock troops meant for battle, and they take a sick and depraved enjoyment from it.

Kiera backs away from the new threat, while still keeping her concentration of the thing assaulting Volkar. She sends in another two magic missiles, singing the dwarfs beard with its proximity, but doing more damage to the flying attacker.

I am shocked to see another creature emerge from the pool but I manage to raise my shield just in time to parry all 3 of it's attacks. I then raise my own axe ,"Kols, I beg of you lend me the strength of stone to defeat this foe!" My axe seems to switch from the usual metal colouring, to that of a green gem, I swing in attempt to get passed it's defenses.

War-Axe Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 1 = 17
War-Axe Damage: 1d10 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 2 + 1 = 12

Stone-Strike : Weapon gains a +1 to Attack and Damage (already included), counts as Adamantine and Magical for the purposes of bypassing DR, and ignores 4 Hardness.

Daelric calls upon his god for a blessing upon his ax, then buries it solidly in the beasts chest.
Keep reminding me of the properties of stone strike please. It doesn't affect this creature, but it will for anything else in the room. How long is it active?

Andrezi steps back and fires a bolt, but in his revulsion, he is unable to properly aim and the bolt goes wide.

Volkar cried out in pain as a bleeding slash appeared across his cheek and chin exposing bones. He grabbed his axe and lashed out at the hovering flying thing that caused him such pain.

The nimble little creature dodges Volkars clumsy swipe. It screaches in a horrible, raspy voice "You shall ALL pay! The Mother take you all in her grasp!" With this, she mutters again, and suddenly a wave of fear washes over everyone within the room before flitting away from Volkar.

Casts Cause Fear. All, please give me a will save DC 14. IF YOU FAIL. If you make it, you are Shaken for 1 round.

The blob by the door continues its assault against Kiera. It rolls forward, its amorphous flesh scooting across the flagstones and swiping its claws at her again. Unfortunately for her, both claws get through this time.

Andrezi wisthstands the spell, and casts Bless to assist his friends!

Kiera fades back from the lemure, drawing closer to the martial support of Volkar.

Volkar takes a swipe at the creature but misses as the waves of fear overcome him.

Daelric flees from the creature before him as waves of terror rush over him.

The nightmare fairy thing in the middle of the room cackles in glee as the heroes (mostly) fall beneath her spell and run pell mell about the room. She draws a dagger from her belt, and carefully considers her options before flicking it across the room at Volkar. The tiny dagger manages to just barely find a chink in the dwarfs armour, sinking briefly into skin before magically returning to the creature.

"Argh, nasty flying thing." Even in the fading of the wave of fear, another nasty slash from the thing angered him. He pulled one of the casks, took aim at the spot between the flying creature and the long armed and tooth, and tossed one of the oak and metal casks he hadworked on filling earlier.

Volkar hurls a cask at the creature, but the new formula he tried out for this particular brew seems off weight somehow, and the throw falls short. With a concussive boom far exceeding even the dwarfs expectations, it explodes halfway between himself and his target.

FYI, and please add this to your attacks and character sheet, the DC for your reflex save is 14 (10+ 1/2 your lvl+ int Mod)

Reflex: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
The creature nimbly escapes most of the blast, but still comes away with a few scrapes from the explosion itself.

Hey all sorry for the absence, I was hoping to post in the evening, but the re-enactment location had no internet signal what so ever. Back now though.

I gather my wits about me and turn to face this creature once again, after managing to deflect a couple of it's attacks I am wanting to return with some of my own.

War-Axe Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

However just as I am about to hit I hear Andrezi call out to Volkar and I make the mistake of briefly looking at them to see what the problem is. In that small moment, the creature is able to evade my attack with ease.

Stone-Strike only lasts for 1 round per use, but affects ALL attacks within that round, including AoO's.

With the group split in a bad way, and no way to heal Volkar, Kiera moves quickly around the edge of the pool. She comes up behind Daelric as she deftly flips through her satchel to produce a scroll.

Hearing Kiera's command I bring my axe back and once she has finished I swing as hard as I can, trying to fell the creature quickly so that I can try to help Volkar by defeating the thing separating our healer from us.

War-Axe Damage: 1d10 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 2 + 1 = 12

If that is enough to fell the creature I will then move my full speed to the Lemure, to help Andrezi with his creature. While Volkar is in trouble, nothing is targeting him at the moment and if the Cleric goes down, then we are in a pinch.

Daelric fells the creature before him with a last mighty swing of his ax. Before the body can even slump to the ground, Daelric is heading for Andrezi, trying to bring the group back to a cohesive whole.
