The speeches have just ended, and Father Zantus is about to take the podium. You are in the brief lull as the speakers change places, so give me some idea of where you are and what you are doing. I am in class right now, *and have been all afternoon..* but I will get the first real post up later.

Kiera is near one of the food carts, just cutting into a fresh apple with her dagger, but facing the stage and watching as Father Zantus takes the podium.

Volkar is at one of the food carts, enjoying the wurst that was offered and watching the celebrating community.

A sharp retort, like the crack of distant thunder, slices through the excited crowd as the sun’s setting rays paint the western sky. A stray dog that has crawled under a nearby wagon to sleep starts awake, and the buzz of two dozen conversations quickly hushes as all heads turn toward the central podium, where a beaming Father Zantus has taken the stage. He clears his throat, takes a breath to speak, and suddenly a woman’s scream slices through the air. A few moments later, another scream rises, then another. Beyond them, a sudden surge of strange new voices rises—high-pitched, tittering shrieks that sound not quite human.
The crowd parts and something low to the ground races by, giggling with disturbing glee as the stray dog gives a pained yelp and then collapses with a gurgle, its throat cut open from ear to ear. As blood pools around its head, the raucous sound of a strange song begins, chanted from shrill, scratchy voices.

In all of the sudden confusion, everyone in the party is able to distinguish the fast moving blur as a goblin. As the dog yelps, your eagle eyes can all distinguish the forrm of the leering little maniac hiding behind the bleeding corpse licking its little knife.

Suddenly, over the screams and sounds of the crowd, you can hear a sound in the distance. It is an ungodly cacophony that is getting closer and louder with every moment. You think that you can hear words, but words sung by a demonic childrens choir. Behind the killer of the dog, you spot two more gobbies advancing on the square. The crowd starts screaming and running.. What do you do?

Volkar started when the goblin ran through the crown and slashed the dog. The dwarf's hand dropped to leather strap holding the family's battleax in place, and loosened it at the same time that his other hand took hold of the well worn handle.

"I hate goblins," he said in dwarvish and pushed his way into the crowd.

"Obnoxious little beasties...ruining a perfect good ceremony." Andrezi says pulling his crossbow.

Seeing others begin to move toward the goblins, Andrezi steps to the side to get a clear shot at one of the goblins in the back rank.

A rough start to say the least...

Volkar moves forward, preparing to engage, while Andrezi draws his crossbow and lets off a bolt. Unfortunately, he is still just a bit surprised, and the bolt flies harmlessly off into the air.

Surprise Round : Upon noticing the Goblins I draw my War-Axe from my belt and shout at the top of my lungs, "menknurlan!" I look angry, but somehow managing to contain my rage, then upon noticing the villagers fleeing I try to see if any of the villagers are in any immediate danger.

Dwarven:
"Unstoned ones!" One of the worst insults in Dwarven.

Round 1 :

If any villagers are in danger:
I move in between the Goblin and the villager taking any hit that was meant for the villager.

This is probably a double move action, but if it is just a move action then I shall attack the Goblin too.

War-Axe Attack : 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

If no villagers are in danger:
I charge the nearest Goblin that I can see raising my Axe above my head and bring it down on his head hoping to cleft the vermin in twain.

War-Axe Attack : 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 2 = 24
War-Axe Damage : 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

My stat bar has been adjusted for no shield and the charge penalties, if I don't charge then increase all of my AC's by 2.

How weird, I have a distinct memory of posting last night...

The mousey young woman by the fruit cart looks startled for just half a moment, but a flash of realization crosses her face as the crisis erupts. She places the apple on her dagger in order to free up one of her hands, and with her free hand she fetches a tiny bit of wool from a small pouch attached to her sash. She blows on the wool as she mutters a mystic syllable.

Casting daze, Will save DC 14, on the red-box goblin in the surprise round. Following it up with the same spell on the standard round and hoping that someone with a weapon does something final to the goblin!

Daelric, You only had a surprise action.. which you used for the insult. Your attack will be your turn for this round. :-) No need to waste a good roll like that! Also, the villiagers are fleeing *away* from the gobbies, so you are good to lay down the smack.

Daelric turns, and gives the lead goblin the worst insult that he knows, before heading that direction to have a "Conversation" with it, smacking it hard in its chest.

Kiera casts casts Daze on the Red Goblin Unfortunately, it shakes it off for the second attempt.

"Damnit..." Andrezi curses to himself, upset with his poor marksmanship.

Seeing the goblins engaged with melee combatants and unwilling to risk hitting an innocent with a stray bolt, Andrezi rushes over beside his new found friend, Daelric, and touches the dwarf on the shoulder imbuing him with a bit of luck.

Bit of Luck:
You can touch a willing creature as a standard action, giving it a bit of luck. For the next round, any time the target rolls a d20, he may roll twice and take the more favorable result. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

Volkar grunted as one of the high pitched green skinned, and in this case clothed in a garish green garment, risked towards him slashing a wicked looking sharp blade. The goblin's aim was off.

With his hatred of goblins rising, Volkar hefted his ax and swung at the object of his renewed anger.

Kiera continues her arcane mutterings, her attention focused on keeping the goblins occupied.

Just so I don't hold things up, my strategy unless a goblin breaks off and gets into melee range of me is just to keep using daze (Will DC 14) on the red-squared goblin until it's defeated by the party, then switch to blue, then green. :)

Red goblin shakes off his stupor, and strikes out at Daelric and gives him a nasty cut.

Blue Goblin tries his hand again, but Daelric is just able to get out of the way.

The Green Goblin goes after Vokar. Unfortunately, this one does not return the favor of a fan, and actually connects.

Volkar attempted dodge the Goblin's dogslicer, but failed to do so.

ARHH, he felt the blade slash across his forearm. He started to see the green clad green skin shaded with a red hue. It needs to die, Volkar thought to himself.

His axe reached it's upper arch and he brought it down at the grinning, snickering goblin.

My surprise round was drawing my weapon and insulting it, basically just a standard action. I will nearly always post 2 actions for 1 turn, usually so if I do something and by the time it gets to my turn I can't do it, I still have the second action to do.

I look at the Goblin that I manages to hit with my axe and a look of shock crosses my face for a couple of seconds, "It took that hit and is still going, impressive!" I bring my axe up trying to connect with the Goblins chin on the way up.

War-Axe Attack : 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
War-Axe Damage : 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

After the attack has connected with the critters chin I reach to my back and draw my shield in front of me.

Standard action for the attack, move action to get my shield (I cannot equip it this turn). If my target is dead by my turn, I shall do the exact same thing to the next one. If I have to 5 foot step, I will.

Volkar returns the favor to the goblin attacking him, while Daelric cuts his goblin in half with a mighty swing. Following this, he swings his shield around, getting ready to put it on.

Kiera continues trying to hold the goblins immobile, and succeeds this time with the blue clad enemy. Meanwhile, Andrezi lends a bit more luck to Daelric.

The blue clad goblin suddenly freezes, staring off into space completely oblivious of his compatriots being cut down around him.

Green Goblin cackles maniacally as it swings again at Volkar, just barely managing to cut him again.

The goblin's dogslicer slashed across forearm, and the dwarf started seeing red. "Let's finish this, green ears!" Volkar roared as hefted his father's ax as he swung at the goblin's head and shoulders.

His ax went wide and the goblin's laughter and taunt only amplified his frustration and anger.

I forgot I have a plus one hatred bonus against orcs and goblins...um DUH! sigh.

As I fell the first Goblin I turn my attention to the second and smile a menacing smile at him as I bring my axe down towards it's head. "Ach az mensagh!"

Seeing Daelric have a great deal of success against the goblins and noticing yet another dwarf's frustration, Andrezi moves over toward the other dwarf and grants him the same luck he had been giving Daelric.

"Perhaps this will help a bit, friend."

Volkar watched as the goblin was cleaved in two by a powerful blow from the other dwarf.

"Thank you, truly my aim was lacking against this one," he looked down at the bleeding scratches and signed. Just as he was about to comment on how lady luck was not of help against the green skinned rabble, he felt a strong, reassuring flow of energy from the touch of a neighboring human.

"Perhaps this wI'll help a bit, friend," said the dark haired human.

"Aye, any help is appreciated, especially if we have more of this terrors rinning 'bout." Volkar spoke in Common as he fished into his pouch looking for a potion bottle.

"So what by the runes caused those vermin to show up here?" He asked in Common of both the other Dwarf and the new human friend.

"Maybe they got wind of the festival and decided it was a perfect opportunity to steal things and cause havoc," suggests the mousey young woman as she brushes back her brown hair.

Daelric splits his foe in two, and Andrezi give Volkar a bit of luck. Which type of luck is up for debate, because when he swings again, he almost looses his ax!!

Kyra moves forward to ensure that the last goblin is in range and casts Daze again.

Kiera keeps trying to assist by putting pressure on the goblin's fragile mind with her (apparently unreliable) magics.

I just realized that once Daze works, the creature is immune for 10 minutes.. May need to come up with a bit of a new strategy there!

Ok, just posting in advance so that it won't hold us up when the next round comes up.

The young mage fumbles with the clasp on her sash, and from the satchel attached to it she pulls out a heavy book. She starts flipping through the pages of the book as quickly as she can, looking for some kind of reference in it.

"Thank you, truly my aim was lacking against this one," he looked down at the bleeding scratches and sighed. Just as he was about to comment on how lady luck was not of help against the green skinned rabble, he felt a strong, reassuring flow of energy from the touch of a neighboring human.

"Perhaps this will help a bit, friend," said the dark haired human.

"Aye, any help is appreciated, especially if we have more of this terrors rinning 'bout." Volkar spoke in Common as he fished into his pouch looking for a potion bottle.

"So what by the runes caused those vermin to show up here?" He asked in Common of both the other Dwarf and the new human friend. Having found the potion in question, he sighs and pulls the waxed cork stopper and downs it in a gulp. curelightwounds potion: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Kierra performs a quick cram session with her spell book, while the dwarves and Andrezi work together to bring the last goblin down. At the moment, there are no goblins in the immediate vicinity. However, the noise of battle and the screams of the people of Sandpoint rise from all around you. You can see capering goblins dancing upon roof lines, (And often falling off) as well as the maniacal little buggers darting here and there either with torches, or as torches after setting themselves on fire. It seems that you have a few moments to catch your breath.

I finish strapping on my shield and take a deep breath, upon seeing more vermin I quickly look around to make sure that there are no new villagers in danger or the torches are not going to be able to set anything alight. If there is anything that not safe in these regards I immediately rush there to try and remedy the problem.

Getting between the villagers and Goblins, or pushing the flammable objects / materials away from the Goblins.

"Ah, ah that hits the spot," Volkar spoke with the sound of relief as he put the small flask back into his pouch. He turned his head scanning about the town square. "I think we should find where the little greenskins are coming from and help anyone we can."

The sounds of battle rise and fall from all quarters around the square. The party catches their breath for a moment, discussing their options. Daelric emphasizes the importance of protecting civilians, while the rest of the group seems intent on tracking down where the incursions are coming from. In all of the mayhem, it is hard to do more than interject yourselves here and there to save the villagers, and it soon becomes apparent that the psychotic little mongrels are more of a threat to themselves than anyone else as they toss themselves from roof tops or drown in barrels of mead and ale.

Just as the party begins to move out, the bloom of a fireball rises over the roofs to the south. Preceding and following the explosion, hundreds of fireworks launch in every direction.. it seems that the pyros have found the fireworks stash that was meant for the celebration! Turning in that direction, you see a new group of goblins entering the square. Four of the little buggers, followed by one that is screeching Singing at the top of its lungs a truly revolting song.

"Goblins chew and goblins bite.
Goblins cut and goblins fight.
Stab the dog and cut the horse,
Goblins eat and take by force!
Goblins race and goblins jump.
Goblins slash and goblins bump.
Burn the skin and mash the head,
Goblins here and you be dead!
Chase the baby, catch the pup.
Bonk the head to shut it up.
Bones be cracked, flesh be stewed,
We be goblins! You be food!"

Thankfully reaching the conclusion of the song, the goblin points to the party and gives a war cry that sends the minions screaming forward.
