When the group eventually investigates the room to the northeast, they find a bedchamber. The room includes a large chest containing Inoklar's loot from the operations of her Nightsoil Marauders. Included in the loot are emblems and tokens of several rival crime organizations in Magnimar: a set of miniature scales carved from black onyx, several Varisian scarves and knives clearly taken from Sczarni thugs, an ornamental star of Desna, a broken Shoanti klar, and most interestingly, a golden Aspis Consortium badge. At the bottom of the chest is a set of poorly scrawled notes detailing plans to take over Magnimar.

PLAN

1) Goal: rule Magnimar
2) start war between Magnimar criminals
3) Kill key guild figures, blame other groups by leaving symbols behind at murder scenes
4) Use Marauders to steal symbols of each faction
5) burn city when factions weakened
6) Take over

Scrawled below the surprisingly ingenious plan:

Sczarni, Shoanti and Night Scales will blame each other easily. Aspis? Pathfinders? Harder to get them to fight. Plant stolen artifacts at faction locations?

Also, in the corner of the room, hidden beneath a blanket, is a javelin covered in what appear to be ancient runes.

Grand Lodge

"This is it? THIS IS IT?" shouts Joadric when he finishes looking at Inoklar's plan. "Take over the city, kill the other guys. This was just a gang hit, writ large?"

Joadric grabs the javelin and shakes it, shouting to nobody in particular. "I got burned HOW many times, nearly killed, for a gang hit!!"

While he shouts, holding the javelin, the runes begin to glow.

Sczarni

"I'd be careful with that! Bag it and let's move on. We'll need to check out a few more rooms and report these killers."

Joadric stashes the javelin in a bag and continues on with Peppin.

The rest of the local sewer complex appears empty of goblins. But it is very clearly formerly inhabited by goblins, and recently. An empty guardpost room with nails and tortured rats, a two empty goblin dog kennels full of the disgusting dander that causes both Joadric and Peppin to begin sneezing, as well as sleeping quarters hastily abandoned. The sleeping quarters contain nothing of value to any of the pathfinders, though Ekkie finds the left-behind dogslicers, horsechoppers, bits of twine, empty bottles of alchemists fire and other bric-a-brac to be incredibly interesting and valuable. She begins to immediately stash stuff in her pockets.

REPORTING BACK TO HEIDMARCH MANOR

When Peppin, Dr. Remulac and Joadric report back to Venture Captain Sheila Heidmarch and her manor house in the High Cleft district of Magnimar, she is astounded at the excellent work the team has done. She grimaces when she hears about the death of Horlith.

"I grieve for you and for him, but I fear I cannot aid in his return. He is too badly mangled, I think and I question if his type have a soul which would want to venture back into the mortal world once it has gone to its rest."

The javelin turns out to be an amazing relic and something Venture Captain Heidmarch is highly interested in.

"This is a great find and will show the Decemvirate the value of our Lodge here in Magnimar!" she says.

In ancient Thassilonian, it is called a shev-arim, or a "Javelin of Wrath" that transforms into a bolt of lightning when thrown in anger. The ancient kingdom of Wrath armed its warriors with such javelins.

"You have done well, Sir Peppin, Dr. Remulac, Mr. Heimurl. And you are welcome here at Heidmarch Manor anytime you wish."

That's odd. Your character received and completed the Sczarni faction mission. And your character profile on the boards shows the Sczarni faction icon.

I'll go ahead and redo your Day Job and send you the Chronicle.
