See the PC that posted this, Mareck Bolthune? Click on his name and examine what you see. This is how your PC should be formatted to play. It allows me to see your stats, read your background, etc.
Also, note how I included in his "Class/Levels" field all the relevant information needed for quick play and review by me (or by you, really). Class/Levels is what shows up in grey below his name e.g. Male Human (Varisian) Fighter 1 (HP11/11; AC15 / T13 / FF12; F+3, R+3, W+0; perception +0).

Here's the link to the Test Map on Google Docs. I've given you all access to it via the emails
artseverance@yahoo.com
mmkclark@juno.com
david.gloss@dignityhealth.org
You should all be able to access it and move the icon around.
Please confirm that you can do so by posting here.

Mitch wants to play his Pal5. Art and David: do you have any PCs you'd like to play in SubTier 4-5?
If not, we can go with Summoner2, Paladin5, Art2, and an Iconic4. Doing so runs the risk of overshadowing the PCs, as the Iconic4 will be somewhat more powerful than two of the PCs. I will, of course, downplay the iconic during roleplay, but...
(BTW - All of this assumes I'm reading the rules correctly on use of pregens. It says, "level appropriate pregen.")
Alternative: Summoner2, Paladin5, Art2, Iconic1 is 2.5 (rounds up to 3), which allows you to play up into SubTier4-5.
If Art plays his gnome cleric, consider Merisiel as your iconic of choice, too.
Tell me what you'd like to do.

Just granted you access at the gmail address you used to request.

SOME GUIDELINES FOR PLAY:
- Each player must have a username/account on Paizo.com (pretty likely we all have this)
- Standard PFS PCs registered on paizo.com become your posting alias during the PbP game.
- Dice rolls are done via the message board's [*dice] function. Example: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 will insert into your post your cleric's Will Save vs an opponent's sleep spell.
- Longer posts are encouraged. "Mareck attacks" is boring. Instead: "Mareck pulls his blade from its sheath, unsure if it will penetrate the otherworldly monster's hide. But, regardless, he leaps and slashes, attempting to protect Ronann while he heals Jory! Atk:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 Dmg:1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5"
- Players must be able to post at least once a day weekdays, and preferably at least once on weekends.
- Battles will be run on a map displayed from Google docs, so the ability to access it will be required. From there, you will be able to move your PC, just as you would a mini in tabletop play.
- During combats, each person will have 24 hours to post from the time their turn comes up. Failure to do so will cause them to delay until able to post.
- I will generally roll initiative, skill checks, etc. to help keep things moving, as well as other as needed rolls
- I will use gated spoilers like this
Spoiler:depending on the circumstances.
| GM Derek |
OK. How does this look?
Also, seems like I can see the map and move the icon around now.
Good! A few extra, necessary things:
- On Westria's profile page fill in the About section with her background, as well as all of her stats. For an example, see Mareck Bolthune's page.
- Select an avatar for Westria.
| GM Derek |
Chris & Mitch:
How are your PCs coming along? Ready to unveil them?
| GM Derek |
David: I'll make an icon of your avatar for use on the Test Map.
EDIT: Westria icon added to Test Map
| Christofer Arroyo |
I'll put my PC up there soon, hopefully by tonight (Friday).
I can view the map on Google Docs, but I cannot move the icons...but this is to be expected. I don't have a supported browser, I need to upgrade mine at work. For now, consider me to have adequate access and if I can't get it to work I'll pipe up.
I am going to test the dice function now. *dice
Is this the page we use for everything?
| Christofer Arroyo |
Let's try that die function again:
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 201d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Opening of the argument is [ d i c e ] less the spaces
Closing of the argument is [ / d i c e ] less the spaces
In the middle I typed: 1d20 + 3; 1d6 + 2
This is straight from the FAQ.
Clearly, this is how we can do our to hit and damage at the same time. Love it.
My out of character posts will be from this profile, my in character stuff will be from Doctor Remulac.
| GM Derek |
Hey, Chris. Good to see you here.
There's also an out of character function.
[o o c] Out of Character stuff here [/ o o c]
Or Out of Character stuff here
| GM Derek |
I want to get started on Monday, so please have your PCs ready to go, including full stats listed in their profiles.
Thanks!
| GM Derek |
BTW - one useful thing I've found is to subscribe to the RSS feeds listed above-right. By adding them to my Firefox bookmark toolbar, I easily see when there's a new post in the gamethread.
To answer your question, Chris, game play will not take place here. This is the discussion thread. The Gameplay thread/tab is where actual game posts occur.

How come Westria, Dr. Remulack, and Horlith and David, Chris, and I, respectively, do not show up in the Characters and Players tabs? Do we need to do something?
You show up there automatically once you post in the gameplay tab for the first time.
| GM Derek |
Team:
It seems Paizo.com is having some glitches. Both I and David (Westria) have posted to the gameplay thread. I put the opening scene of the adventure up. But... It won't show. Don't know why. David's own test post won't show, either.
However, if you check when each of us most recently posted, you'll see a correct timestamp and preview of our post. So... I think it is a problem with Paizo.
I'm investigating. Hang tight.
| GM Derek |
Want to begin here on the discussion board?
Exactly my plan! We'll play here until it gets fixed and we can jump over to the gameplay thread.

SCENE: Afternoon, Magnimar, the City of Monuments...
The sun begins to drop in Magnimar, the City of Monuments, the afternoon plagued by a hazy sky and a sun struggling to burn through. Mist clings to the harbor as you leave behind the Shore and begin your walk through the Summit, heading for the northernmost edge of the city's Alabaster District. Your private colleagues within the Society have arranged for you to be invited to Heidmarch Manor, the new Pathfinder Lodge in Magnimar.
The Alabaster District is not a place you frequent. Some of the citizens on the streets stare at you, aware of your... lack of affluence.
Alabaster is home to Magnimar’s richest and most affluent citizens. Aristocrats, guild masters, and anyone rich enough to afford such a lifestyle dwell in the grandiose villas and mansions that line the streets upon which you walk. You see few shops, taverns, and the like here, with those that do exist typically catering to small clienteles—practically secret societies, these establishments generally do not open their doors to non-members.
You encounter several strangers as you ascend from the Marble District's lovely byways onto the the northernmost end of the district, also known as the Stylobate. Guards stop you before a series of marble-inlaid stairs. They ask your business and you provide them with the invitation from the eccentric, yet wealthy Shiela Heidmarch.
"Oy, now, why is that woman olways invitin' the weird ones ta her place, eh Jesk?" says one guard to another, eyeing you closely.
"It's like a pah-rayde! Look at this group. A circus, maybe?" says the other guard pointing towards three other less-than affluent types in line behind you, waiting to have their papers examined.
Eventually, they let you pass up the stairs and into the Stylobate's statuary-lined streets above. It is here that the families most closely associated with Magnimar’s military dwell. Well-appointed townhouses, small villas, and even the walled estates of several old Magnimarian families provide majestic views atop the Fogwall Cliffs.
After a short walk, you find yourself standing, with three others, before Heidmarch Manor, home of Sheila Heidmarch, eccentric and successful adventurer and the Pathfinder Society's Magnimaran Venture Captain.
You have been invited by her (with a little help from secret friends) to venture up from the Shore to Summit, past fisheries and into the marbled affluence of the City's high society.
Tucked away, just before you arrived at Heidmarch Manor's doors, is a missive, from one of your "colleagues" in the Society. Much is to be done today, here, at Heidmarch Manor. Whether Sheila Heidmarch knows it or not.
Please introduce yourselves. You find yourself standing next to each other, waiting entrance? What do the others see? What goes through your head right now?
Your faction missions have been Private Messaged to you. Check your Paizo.com accounts. You'll see the Private Message indicator.
Doctor Remulac
|
You see a well groomed, slender man in spiked full plate and a heavy wooden shield. He has fewer weapons than one might expect from the armor and shield he bears. A holy symbol is visible. What holy symbol?
"Greetings, friends! How are you on this fine day? I am Doctor Remulac, an educator by trade and healer by profession. I take it we are all here to see Madam Heidmarch, eh? Who do I have the pleasure of addressing?"
Horlith the Motherless
|
The long, thick tail of the violet tiefling ahead of you twitches in apparent impatience. Thick folds of fat sag off of his squat frame. He must weigh more than 200 pounds, despite the fact that he is barely over five feet tall.
Turning to reveal what appear to be pale yellow, Shoanti tattoos on his lavender face and underbelly, the tiefling bellows "Kee chai chai cun kuta? What are you doing here?"
The qlippoth-spawn does not appear to wait for a reply. Instead, he pulls a live crab from his bandolier, dangles it above his head, and drops into his toothy maw, where it disappears with a disquieting crunch.
"I am Horlith, one of the Motherless. You must be here to assist me," it rumbles.
The tiefling half steps, half writhes, turning to face you. You see wands in wrist sheaths strapped to the lavender underside of each of its vestigal arms.
Horlith's gaze passes over each of you, searching over your shoulders. He gestures toward a foppish servant hurrying past on an errand. "Grancha! Where can I get a hat like that?" he asks, then belches loudly.
Horlith surreptitiously sizes up the other Pathfinders, wondering which of them he may be able to convince to do the pathetic Paracountess' bidding in his place.
Horlith the Motherless
|
"Dr. Remulac? You will do. I am an empyreal sorcerer and visionary specializing in enchantments and distractions." Horlith gestures to one of the riding dogs. "I see you have brought our lunch. Very practical." Horlith laughs heartily, wagging his meaty tongue in delight.
Horlith's non-Taldan comments are spoken in booming Abyssal. I'm using an online Huttese-English dictionary for them.
Peppin Squek
|
Male Halfling Paladin 5 (HP 39/39; AC 25/ T 14/ FF 22; F+11, R+10, W+11; perception +3)
"I'm going to have to speak to this venture captain about saddling me with another freak show," the Halfling says under his breath as his curly blonde hair and dazzling smile twinkles with his gracious introduction. "I am Sir Peppin Squek, Vengeance Knight of Iomedae's Holy Order of Light at your service."
His polished breastplate gleams even as his weapon belt bristles with daggers.
Horlith the Motherless
|
Horlith's otherworldly hearing picks up the Halfling's comment. However, Horlith finds the idea of a holy Halfling amusing. More importantly, he knows the Halfling will not only act as a meat shield, but will also ensure that no meals are ever missed.
"Greetings little one. Have no fear, Horlith the Motherless is not so hungry as to need to eat you . . . yet."
Westria
|
You see a slender form obscured beneath a hooded black shift, with face mostly hidden by the hood, and blond hair with streaks of red peeking out behind the hood. Atop the shift lies a mail shirt, with a crossbow hanging at her side. Next to her is something obviously humanoid, with a strange glowing symbol on his forehead whose muscles bulge unnaturally, with arms that are too long, almost a character of a humanoid. He carries a lucerne hammer obviously a little too large for him.
"Greeting to one and all. Chut Chut Horlith. I am as you can well see a summoner. Ser Peppin Squeek, when you travel with the circus, you're the one who stands out as different. Shall we go in?"
Westria knocks on the door
Horlith the Motherless
|
"Bo shuda! Welcome summoner! Your eidolon looks quite capable. Proceed."
Horlith thinks about the hat he saw and realized he will need a complete outfit. He considers where one might find a tailor who can make or alter a courtier's outfit for him, or a shop that might sell scrolls of Disguise Self.
