LOL. Yes.

Gameplay tab inaccessible for the last two hours. I am Jack's Disappointment.

Dark Archive

Male Qlippoth-spawn Tiefling Sorcerer 2 (HP 16/16; AC 9 / T 9 / FF 9; F +3, R -1, W +6; perception +10)

Horlith wriggles into the Dreaming Dryad to see what is what and whether he can acquire a scroll or potion there. As he does so, he whispers to Westria, via the Message spells, in Abyssal, "Westria, I approve of the neighborhood, but this...place is eerily wholesome. What business brings us here?"

Shadow Lodge

Westria enters the dreaming dryad. She responds via her message,

Spoiler:
"Haha I don't actually speak abyssal, I just know a few words of it. I actually speak infernal. We're looking for the propieter of this place, a Vert Klydus. My corrupt faction wants to make a (monetary)killing by have a trading monopoly of some ridiculously evil but delightfully intoxicatingly horrible stuff. It's called Midnight Milk. I am not supposed to buy any. I guess it should be kept quiet, so please don't tell others."

Dark Archive

Male Qlippoth-spawn Tiefling Sorcerer 2 (HP 16/16; AC 9 / T 9 / FF 9; F +3, R -1, W +6; perception +10)

Spoiler:
"Perish the thought. What an excellent idea. Let us proceed."

Male Human, Garundi Oracle 3 (25/25; AC 20/ T 9/ F 20; F +3 R +0 W +3; Percept +0)

As far as I know, the Doctor is with Horlith and Westria. Clueless regarding what is trying to be accomplished at the Dreaming Dryad because he's not included in the message spell, the Doctor asks....

Spoiler:
"What are we doing here? Are either of you looking for something specific? I can be very convincing when needed, whether it's to haggle or obtain -- how shall we say -- harder to acquire items?"

The Exchange

Spoiler:
"Let's see how it goes Dr. Remulac. I will certainly ask for your help if I need it."
recasts message, this time including Horlith and Dr. Remulac.

Dark Archive

Male Qlippoth-spawn Tiefling Sorcerer 2 (HP 16/16; AC 9 / T 9 / FF 9; F +3, R -1, W +6; perception +10)

Horlith casts a second Message spell with Westria and Dr. Remulac as its targets. He then points his bony claw at Dr. Remulac and whispers, "Dr. Remulac, assist me with a minor errand. I need a scroll of Disguise Self, but a potion will do. Westria seems to think I can come by such magic here. Humanoids are quite short-sighted and prejudiced when it comes to the Motherless. I do not have the time for such nonsense as I have other errands. Complete the transaction for me. See to it that you return any change; I am watching."

Horlith wipes a bit of slime from his lower lip, then gestures with the claw to cast Mage Hand. He uses the spell to retrieve 5 platinum coins from his bandolier and to hand them to Dr. Remulac.

Pointing again at Dr. Remulac, he asks, "What orisons do you know?" Contrary to Horlith's assertion, he is NOT watching what Dr. Remulac does. Instead, he is watching Westria to see what transpires.

I am in a "grove" contemplating "transpiration," he thinks to himself.

He chuckles deeply at his own wit without sharing the joke with anyone.

Hollow Mountain Roll20 |Magnimar Pics

Horlith, Dr. Remulac, Pouncer and Westria step through the archway and find themselves not in a moonlit glade, but instead inside a darkly lit building, its interior thickly carpeted and terribly cramped. The walls appear to have been soundproofed with some sort of fabric covering and all the doors encountered are locked.

The building is a maze of rooms, some large, some small. After passing down an initial staircase, the quartet ramble about. The only person they find is a single, glassy-eyed half-elf. Before anybody can ask, he groggily lifts a hand and points down the hall.

“Vert’s that way, if you’re looking for a room and some Pesh. He’s even got some Heaven, if you got the bits for it.”

He shuffles into a room, filled with glassy-eyed men and women, all slumped on couches, looking up at the ceiling with small smiles on their faces. The man closes the door and you hear a <snick> as it is locked.

Following his directions, you come to a small, well-appointed room, with a counter, a large tome atop the counter and a man carefully writing numbers and names into the book. Behind the man is a marble sculpture of a dryad, carved in an intriguing way to create the subtle optical illusion of entwined female and male genitalia. If you stare to hard at it you begin to get lightheaded and your thoughts wander.

“Hello, citizens. What is your pleasure--” he begins, but then gets a look at Pouncer, squinting carefully at him. “I’m so sorry, sir, but we do not cater to pleasures of the Lower Planes. My inventory is strictly non-magical and will likely have little effect upon you. I can recommend several establishments elsewhere…”

Paizo got the Gameplay thread back up and running. Please post your responses to Mr. Vert Klydus there.

Team:

I'm taking the boys camping on Thursday-Saturday and am prepping the camping gear tomorrow, so not sure if I'll have time for a full round of posts tomorrow.

Dr. Remulac, please don't forget the dog's actions when you state yours. Make sure you roll its Hits and Dmg, too.

REVISION: I will be able to get a round in today (this evening most likely). Please state your actions!

It's shaping up. We move in on Sunday! Yesterday and today the seller's contractors finished their work, yesterday we got our area rug cleaned, and today Dish came in and installed the TV. Tomorrow we get our new dining room set and the TV gets mounted on the wall. At some point an electrician will come in and ground the outlets. My folks sprang for a washer and dryer, which should come next week. Verizon will come out next week to transfer my office phone and the Internet. Although it's really turning out nicely, it sure is a lot of work! I'm not going to want to move again for a good long time.

And after that GoT Season 3 opener, the Rise of the Goblin Guild resumes...

I only caught parts because of the move. I'm looking forward to sitting down and watching the whole episode. (In about a month when I have time to watch TV again!)

Hollow Mountain Roll20 |Magnimar Pics

LOL. It was, I imagine, like getting a fix after along dry spell. I can't say it was just the greatest thing EVER, but it was great.

No Arya, which bummed me. But I believe she's in the next ep.

No Jaime or Brienne, either.

Too much Jon Snow. But then, that's the problem with the entire book series AND TV series, not just this episode.

He is so whiny and self-absorbed! Sure, he can't inherit Winterfell and his stepmother doesn't treat him very well, but everyone else is pretty much great to him and, because of his upbringing, he has all sorts of advantages and opportunities that others do not.

Hollow Mountain Roll20 |Magnimar Pics

Team: I don't want to horn in on the action by NPCing too much. Ekkie can do what you want, within the limits of her motivations, but... I hesitate to just move the entire troop along, using her willingness to scout ahead as an excuse. Your game. Tell me what you want to do.

(ditto with Joadric)

You know, outside of Joffrey, there's nobody I want to see dead more than Jon Snow. Such a friggin' whiner.

Catelyn Stark's sister Lysa Arryn was one I was not sad to see go. She was also extraordinarily annoying. If only her son Robin had died, too.

No kidding. Agree 100%.

GoT Update - Episode 302

Am pissed they didn't bring Beric Dondarrion into the mix. Thoros of Myr was a disappointment IMHO. The whole scene was... just some anonymous, unremarkable brigands. Sort of like an LG Nyrond obligatory bandit attack, in fact. :-)

With the largest cast in the history of television, GoT has GOT to differentiate these guys. How come they didn't do a big banner with the Dondarrion purple lightning bolt?

Spoilers:
Without Dondarrion, there's no magical undead resurrection amongst the good guys. And then no Catelyn zombie thing. I mean, c'mon. I have to assume the dead walking thing is, oh, I don't know... important in this series?

Hollow Mountain Roll20 |Magnimar Pics

Versevosh is using the the court bard performance ability Satire. So... paladin's are immune to satire? That doesn't make sense.

1) A fear-based bard performance is, for instance, Dirge of Doom, or Frightening Tune. These are the opposite of Inspire Courage, I believe.

2) I do not believe mechanically replacing the performance Inspire Courage in a new bard variant ability makes that variant ability the opposite of Inspire Courage.

3) I'd also suggest that paladin's are immune to one type of emotion, Fear. Not all emotions. So... the assumption that all bard performances are emotion-based isn't relevant, as paladins aren't immune to all emotions, just fear. If that wasn't the case, then Inspire Competence or Inspire Greatness (emotion-based?) would be ineffective on a paladin.

4) And, just my own humble RL position on confidence: it isn't about fear or lack of fear. It is about knowledge, experience, clear thinking. Sometimes fear and lack of confidence can go together, to a person's detriment. Perhaps thus the Satire performance providing a -1 on Fear saves. But I wouldn't read that as too supporting, as it also gives a penalty to Charm saves, too. If this was a fear effect, then why the penalty to Charm saves?

Hollow Mountain Roll20 |Magnimar Pics

Hate to discuss and run, but gotta pack my backpack for my overnight hike tomorrow.

I'll be back on Sunday and will try to post then.

Sczarni

Using thematic terms, like satire, and synonyms for demoralize, such as "undermine the confidence of enemies" does not change the reality of it being the opposite of a courage effect . . . a fear effect.

My shoulder precludes extensive on-line reference . . . which I see as senseless anyway in the world's slowest on-line game.

A question that will possibly speed play later:

Does Peppin wear shoes?

Male Qlippoth-spawn Tiefling Sorcerer 2 (HP 16/16; AC 9 / T 9 / FF 9; F +3, R -1, W +6; perception +10)

Whoo-hoo! I just totalled Horlith's magic missile use = 17 of 22 shots from the wand of MM3 by the end of the Audience 12 round! That means only 5 left!

Hollow Mountain Roll20 |Magnimar Pics

Why woohoo? Not sure I understand the significance.

Dark Archive

Male Qlippoth-spawn Tiefling Sorcerer 2 (HP 16/16; AC 9 / T 9 / FF 9; F +3, R -1, W +6; perception +10)

I was simultaneously expressing my astonishment that I have used so many charges, which are quite expensive and irreplaceable, and my relief that I have 5 shots left that can help keep this battle from becoming a TPK. Horlith's spells do not affect Versevosh, because he has too many hit dice and apparently had a brooch of shielding or had a shield extract going. Unfortunately, shield lasts too long to hope that it has dropped and brooches have too many charges to hope that it is expended. I assume Inoklar, as Versevosh's boss, similarly has too many hit dice to be affected by daze and sleep. Shots from my wand of magic missile 1 are not going to bring anyone down very quickly. However, five shots from the wand of magic missile 3 may just turn the tide, if we survive long enough for Horlith to get them off.

Since, then, however, I had another idea that may prove much more effective. That will have to wait another round, though!

Hollow Mountain Roll20 |Magnimar Pics

So... the bluff required to enable a stealth/hide check clearly can't be a full rounder, as Bluff to Deceive states. The Stealth entry says it can be used prior to a move action/Stealth check for hiding, so... I'm calling it more like a Bluff: Feint which is a standard action. The Feint DC is not opposed by a roll, but by a DC 10 + your opponent’s base attack bonus + your opponent’s Wisdom modifier. If your opponent is trained in Sense Motive, the DC is instead equal to 10 + your opponent’s Sense Motive bonus, if higher. Thus the DC's listed.

Hollow Mountain Roll20 |Magnimar Pics

Guys: I'm flying to DC for a conference. Should be able to roll out a turn each day, Tuesday, Wednesday and maybe Thurs AM.
