I would like to join a group too. I have a paladin/gunslinger gish that dishes out oodles of damage, and is very survivable. I can generally take out one enemy a turn, pretty much anything. Since I can take out pretty much anything, the rest of the list of what I might be able to do, doesn't really matter. I have both *redacted* from previous successful Bonekeep expeditions, and have 0 for both the *redacted* conditions. For what it is worth, I am pretty sure I played at the table that finished Bonekeep 2 first at Gencon last year (not officially, but we looked all over the hall and didn't see any other tables finished when we got done). ![]()
Hi All, Anyone not using your rebuild gm boon? If not, I have extras of a bunch of the gencon boons, and would be willing to trade multiple of them. My extras were:

This year was my best PFS Gencon experience. I had a glorious time. Please keep the delve for next year! Mustering for us was no problem. We cobbled together a group of six, went to the musterer, and got seated. I really liked the color scheme. Go to yellow 2 was really easy to find your table. The Sagamore is amazing!! If you guys can keep that for next year, please do so. Since it has such high ceilings, the noise level was much better than Paizocon, which made for a better play experience. The silent auction was great!! I prefer the idea of offering $$ for charity for some cool character options rather than prestige for some potentially over-powered items. Jason's speech before Bonekeep 2 was hilarious. ![]()
I would like to echo the suggestion that we let this thread go on hold, until after gencon. Can we please let Mike and John have had a chance to consider the issues here? I also would like to ask for this thread to go on hold, because I feel that some of the current conversation is hurting some of the participant's feelings, which, in my opinion, hurts the community. ![]()

Nathan, I have fog-cutting lenses that I use when the party gets in too deep, and looks like it's heading for a tpk. Do you know of a replacement? ![]()
Kyle, Soon I will be going to Gencon. I have a rather crucial resource from Rise of the Runelords, and all I own is the Collector's edition. It's not so hard to see that this will turn out to be a weighty proposition, even forgetting the rest of the resources for this character, and requiring me to bring my collector's edition which will take up most of a suitcase seems to be rather much. On the other hand, if I bring the character, and someone does an audit of it, I have an illegal character, if I don't bring it. ![]()
Dear Mike, Thanks for the clarification about what counts as a legal resource. I have to say that as someone who owns a lot more than 50 pounds of resources in hard-form, you're apology that my $1000 spent on Paizo products means I am required to cart around a huge amount of weight, because you won't accept my photocopies, to continue to participate in PFS play, is telling me that I should be using my gaming time doing something else. After my games at Gencon, I will have to weight what to do. Right now its looking like Paizo just lost a loyal customer. ![]()
Well, Mike, what you say is all true. She did (seem) to have a good time playing. Our table even got named during the special because we were the first group to finish the half-way point. I thought her reaction was weird, which is probably why I remember it so well. I think it was the bad feelings that got to her, but how could you prevent that? I am not sure. Maybe, make the whole thing more mechanical?? That way she would not have expectations that do not get fulfilled, and lead to bad feelings. Personally, I thought the plan last year of guarantee something, was way better. I know some people were put off, but again, it seemed to be due to the randomness/innumeracy issue....why not just eliminate it altogether? I have a guess, but this is only a guess, for eliminating the randomness, as much as possible. It could look something like this:
This way you would choose what you got. Seems pretty hard to get annoyed at this, unless you were someone who rolled lots of 20's or always got the right keys. ![]()
Mistress Ashley, your post was awesome! I would like to add a little bit about the concept of innumeracy, but make it a little more feelings based. I hope my description adds something. I see this a lot at my work, so I believe in it a lot. I suggest as a society we would be much better off making boon acquisition mechanical, like way of the kirin. You play it, with a Lantern lodge character, and something cool with happen. This is a win-win for everyone involved. I play the game, I get the boon, I have nice feelings. I am encouraged to play more pathfinder society games, which makes me more likely to buy more pathfinder stuff, so down the road paizo wins too. There are lots of ways of making this happen. You get could points like in the RPGA of old. You could track gm stars. You could play module x, y, and z which are all reported, and then send in a request. You could make this easy. You could make this hard. It's all good. If you give out boons to non-con goers, and you announce it, whether its a few or a lot, you will, imo, generate good will and expand the society. On the other hand, let's take my experience at gencon a few years ago. A group of people I knew played various PFS games and we turned in about 15 coins, which turned into what seemed like a lot of keys, which turned into a big fat nothing. People were pretty bummed. We saw lots of other people who got nothing, but we also saw some people got stuff. We were gripped by innumeracy, but it did not matter, the experience generated some sad feelings. No one said anything, but that was the last PFS for one of the people. Later, when I asked her about it, she explained, why would I use my spare time to play a game that will make me feel bad? When I explained the following year, she would be virtually guaranteed to get something, she said, let's do something else. I believe that this situation is somewhat analogous to the random giving out of boons (except you won't necessarily see the other people who won stuff): some people are going to feel bad. Bad feelings is bad for the society, because some people will stop playing, and this is bad for business. ![]()
I would like to make a couple suggestions about this idea. If you are going to offer boons to non-convention goers, I like the idea of offering new races. It does not imbalance the game with additional powers. First, can you consider making these boons distinct from the ones you might get if you go to a convention? I don't think you want to do anything that would detract people from going to conventions, and getting unique boons is one of attractions of going to a big con. As for random allocation, there is a risk of creating player unhappiness. How about something like: you played or gmed all the mods in season 5 (before season 5 ends) or maybe scenarios xx, xx, and xx about darklings, and you get a race boon for doing it? ![]()

I've read through many of the ideas in this column. I think that many of them are creative and interesting, but my impression is that most of them offer unwanted unintended consequences that may be bad for the society. Play up = 2 xp. 3 mods played up = 2 levels. Hmmm.....so if I played up for 12 mods, I could be 9th level?! That's faster advancement than 4th edition. Are you sure you want to open the door to everyone having high level characters easily? I vote against this idea. Have specific gpv for specific levels. No more playing up. But then, there is no advantage to playing up or disadvantage to playing down. I think this creates more problems than it solves. I think Majuba's idea of forming sub-tiers, which limit the excess wealth, is a good start that is a compromise of many positions. I haven't read each and every post, so I may well have missed something, but how about what I think is a slight modification of Majuba's idea? Lets say a mod has wealth
