Selena will move to 2715 and hit the goblin on 2515 with her flare, then.. Fort DC 14 to resist becoming dazzled. Had to wait for Dirk to move to get my action precise..


Thantos moves to 3115 and attempts to cast web so that it gets the two rear goblins with shortbows, but doesn't extend far enough forward to entangle Dirk or Selena. It has a 20ft radius and has to be attached to two or more diametrically opposed points on the map, so he centers it on hex 2015 so that the attachment points are the far wall (1915) and on the walls just in front of the goblins with short bows. If it works, anyone in the area of effect has to make a reflex save or become grappled. For anyone entering it afterwards, it is just difficult terrain.


Missing Lash, but we'll move forward. If you get this before I post Lash, go ahead, otherwise you'll just keep shooting.

With his other opponent dead, Dirk gives a yell and runs up to a swordsman moving into position, charging in with an overhand blow at where the goblin should be. Unfortunately due to the shadows and the deep deep mist, Dirk's swing flies wide of his target.

Selena comes around the corner chanting and points at the same Goblin as Dirk took a swing at, but due to the Goblin having ducked to the side out of the way of Dirk's blow, his eyes and face are averted as Selena's flare briefly lights up the area, he is unaffected.

One of the archers on the ground (#4 @ 2316) takes a shot at Dirk, but the arrow flies wide to the left, shattering against one of the stones in the wall.

A wall archer (#7 @ 2808) takes another shot at Armand, or more precisely where Armand should have been, but again his arrow thunks into nothing but sod, as Armand is no where near it.

The other ground archer (#3 @ 2315) takes a bead on Dirk's new position as he fires an arrow, but it clangs off Dirk's sweeping sword, doing nothing but scratching the metal of the blade slightly.

The southern archer (#8 @ 2822) ignores it's helplessly laughing comrade as it takes aim into the mist on the ground. A twig snap attracts it's attention as it fires at the sound, the arrow flying true and cutting a rip in Thantos's robe, and a small cut along the outside of his left arm. (Thantos takes another 3 Damage, putting him at 15 hp remaining.)

Back in the tunnel, one of the short-swordsmen (#10 @ 2516) takes a swipe at Dirk but his sword strikes nothing bit air, coming no where close to connecting.

Out on the grounds, Mird takes aim and fires his arrow up at the goblin that just hit Thantos (#8 @ 2822), but the mist obscures his line of vision and Mird hears the arrow clatter off of one of the crenelations, he does, however, have the satisfaction of seeing the goblin archer's outline duck back to cover as the shot comes close enough to worry him.

Cursing the big swordsman in front of him and the robe wearing mage beside him, the goblin swordsman (#9 @ 2515) who managed to dodge both blows takes a lunge at Dirk, but his strike is easily turned by Dirk's expert parry.

Thantos ignores the pain of the cut from the arrow as he casts yet another spell. A ball of sticky substance flies over Dirk and the goblin swordsman's head, then over the heads of the goblin archers on the ground all but explodes into sticky tendrils that fill the land behind the tunnel with think glistening strands of what looks like spiderwebs. Immediately, both archers in the tunnel (#3 @ 2315 and #4 @ 2316) become hopelessly entangled within the sticky webbing. (Both archers are incapable of shooting at this point).

Armand calls out another prayer to his goddess and a bolt of fire escapes from his hand again streaking up toward the crenelations, this time to the south. While the bolt flies true, it passes just over the Goblin archer's head (#8 @ 2822) as he ducks below the wall after Mird's attack.

Another of Lash's bolts flies in at the northern goblin's position, but again it cracks against the wall doing no damage to the goblin.

Male Human Fighter 5

Cursing the visibility, Dirk quickly rights himself after a missed strike that he felt certain would land. Knowing that every second is precious before the whole keep is on their ears, Dirk raises his Elven blade once again, this time, mist or no, determined to reduce the evil army's numbers.

Over-hand Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 1 = 23

Thantos, not keen on being the target of multiple archers, ducks and walks swiftly to take up position behind Mird (hex 2912) and immediately begins chanting the ancient words that will create an invisible weave of protection around himself (Mage armor: +4 armor for 3 hours). After he finishes the casting ritual, he firmly squeezes the gash on his arm and decides the wound is mostly superficial.

Quick campaign point of order. We have a "holiday" coming up, and if any of you are anything like me, Thanksgiving means hosting a bunch of family and spending all your time doing other things for other people. As such, my time over the Thanksgiving holiday break to post turns is likely to be pretty limited. Therefore, I will make the last "official" post tomorrow (Wednesday) night at 5:00pm (Round 6) and will set the next "official" post for the campaign at 5:00 pm on Monday, Nov. 29th. That said I suspect I may be able to get at least ONE round in between Thursday and Sunday if I have you guys available to post. I will try to check sometime after tomorrow night (and before Monday) to get another round in, but if not, I will also try to get a round in Monday Morning (this might be tough). Any way, worst case scenario is that you all have a nice holiday and come back on Monday evening ready to go. :)

Building on his previous successes, Armand fires yet another bolt of fire this time at the incapacitated archer on the southern part of the wall.

Finally done with an insane week. Apparently I can't hit the broad side of a barn


Dirk recovers from his last miss and carries the parry of the previous goblin strike through to a chilling conclusion, slamming his huge sword down onto the goblin, cleaving it almost in two as he solidly connects.

Selena finishes her quick chant and a white glow surrounds Dirk, the goblins seem to cringe away from the glow for a second. (Dirk: You are at +2 Armor vs. these attackers for the next 30 rounds).

Both archers on the ground (#3 @ 2315, and #4 @ 2316) struggle against the sticky webs, trying to disentangle themselves but only seem to get caught up by more of the sticky spiderwebish strands.

From the northern part of the wall (#7 @ 2808) another twang of a bow string and another whish and thunk of an arrow as it embeds itself into the ground behind Armand, coming no where near hitting the target.

Another arrow zooms in from the southern part of the wall (#8 @ 2822) at Thantos's previous position, yet Thantos has long since moved out of that area, and the arrow strikes nothing but ground.

The second of the two swordsmen (#10 @ 2516), advances on Dirk and thrusts ahead, catching Dirk below the shield but the blade turns off the armored plate of his stomach, not penetrating and doing nothing more than putting yet another dent in the metal.

Holding his attack for half a second to get an accurate bead on the southern goblin, Mird times the Goblin popping up over the battlements (#8 @ 2822) and waits for his opportunity. His patience pays off as he lets loose an arrow just as the goblin pops his head up over the battlement, taking the Goblin between the eyes. A THUD within the courtyard tells the party that the force of the shot carried the goblin off the battlements, over the side, and onto the courtyard below.

Thantos briefly glows with a soft shimmering as his mage armor spell settles over him.

Armand's next firebolt flies from his hand but again manages to clip the crenelation instead of slamming into his target.

Lash fires her crossbow bolt into the mist across from her, hoping to hit the shadow of the Archer on the northern wall, but the missile flies over it's head.

Several voices and shouts can be heard at the edges of the webs out of sight to those of you in the tunnel. Stirrings from up above you in the two towers also signal others alerted to the combat. Two closed wooden doors on the ground floor leading into the towers loom ominously as you continue to fight your battle at the gates.

Selena urges Dirk forward in a hushed, excited voice. "If we make it into the fortress proper, the orcs and bugbears will help us. Press forward."

She moves beside Dirk Hex 2615 and takes up a defensive stance with her longsword, finally attempting to distract the goblin he is fighting long enough for him to get a hit in. Aid to grant +2 to Dirk's next attack.

Thantos tries to assist Mird in dispatching the Goblin Archer overhead (hex 2808), hurling an orb of acid at him.

Sensing that time is growing short, Dirk takes careful aim at the diminutive creature before him.

Seeing the Web blocking up the entrance, Armand also decides to move into the hallway, giving the archers one less person to shoot at.

Dirk takes a swing at the unprepared goblin (#10 @ 2515) and though his sword is right on target it barely whizzes by the goblin, almost connecting but forcing the goblin to fall back not to get cleaved in two.

Selena readies her sword and pokes ahead at the stumbling goblin (#10 @ 2515), dragging it's attention further from Dirk. (Dirk, you are at +2 attack next round).

The southern archer grits his teeth and lurches ahead (#4 @ 2316), finally breaking contact with the webs holding him and stumbling, somehow, out of the mess without getting entangled again. (He's landed in square 2416, just free of the webbing).

Out on the wall, the northern archer (#7 @ 2808), seeing where the arrow came from that took out his companion across the way, aims his bow down at Mird and takes a shot. The arrow skims past Thantos to scrape across Mird's shoulder, cutting a very small gash the top of his arm as it thuds into the wall in front of Mird. (Mird takes 1 point of damage, bringing him to 27 HP Left)

The northern ground archer (#3 @ 2315), seeing the success of his comrade, attempts to do the same thing, but doesn't quite manage the maneuver, failing to extricate himself from the webbing.

Dirk's Goblin (#10 @ 2515), having practically jumped backwards to dodge Dirk's blow, finds himself unfortunately retreating more than he'd like as he loses his footing and starts running backwards to recover. Fortunately for the goblin, very quickly his backwards momentum is arrested as he falls against a soft surface. Unfortunately for the goblin that soft surface happens to be the leading edge of the web spell Thantos cast. And he finds himself in a worse predicament than he was in before, thoroughly trapped within the webs. (Natural 1 in this case = no CMB maneuver check this round to escape., He is now at hex 2315.)

Seeing the arrow thud into the wall in front of him and feeling the sting of the minor cut, Mird pops up and spins on his heal, dragging an arrow from his quiver to his bow and firing at the goblin (#7 @ 2808) in one smooth motion sending an arrow straight into it and through it's throat, stopping that archer permanently.

Thantos, seeing his target go down, decides not to cast his spell as he moves around Mird, and takes Selena's old position behind Dirk. Quickly chanting an incantation he causes a green glow to form around his hand which becomes semi-liquid as he throws the orb at the recovered archer who just got out of the webs (#4 @ 2316, now @ 2416). However the orb fails to hit the goblin, splashing against the door behind him and hissing shortly, before dissipating into mist.

Armand moves into the hallway and takes up position just west of the new archer, deciding that he will get no more shots at the party.

Lash too moves out of the wide open terrain into the relative safety of the gate entrance. And takes aim at the goblin still struggling to get free of the webbing (#3 @ 2315). Her crossbow bolt hits the mark and takes him through the heart, the goblin's body going limp into the webbing.

The other Archer on the southern part of the wall (#6 @ 2821) takes a shot into the mist at Armand as he moves by, but fails to connect with anything.

Those who Speak Goblin:
Burn this webbing out of the way! Clear the entrance!

The sound of wooden doors being thrown open and banging against stone walls sounds disturbingly close from both sides of the gatehouse entryway.

A second or two later, the two doors (one on each tower) leading into your little courtyard burst open and several angry goblins and a human or two can be seen within.

Hold round 6 actions for a bit as I get the map updated and other things handled, I'll call for round 6 actions in my last post for the night.

DM: trying to figure out why Dirk missed. He was right next to the Goblin he was attacking. I thought you said it was 30% miss within 20ft - he rolled a 40... and I'm guessing the 22 (to hit) roll was plenty. I was expecting two halves of a single Goblin. Why the miss?


Because I COMPLETELY mucked that up. You're right, it's a 20% miss not a 50% miss. Consider the goblin splattered across the pavement, not stuck in a web...you have my apologies.

Selena moves towards the southern door, shifting past Armand as she summons heavenly fire to her hands. She moves to 2515 and releases it as a bolt at the goblin in 2416
