Time got the better of me. I promise to post about the next day tomorrow.
Sorry.
Garion Erada |
Hey all, just wanted to give you a heads up. I will be out of the country for the next week, so I will not be able to post. Please bot me as necessary. I'm sorry I didn't mention this sooner, but life has been a little haywire the last week. Not only the job change, but our poor not-so-little dog had an unfortunate accident at the groomers leading to several visits to the vet, many stitches, bandages, bandages being ripped off, more vet visits, all resulting in a small portion of his tail being amputated. This has been very emotionally and even somewhat physically taxing on my wife and I due to lack of sleep and the realization that we will be gone for a whole week and have to leave a portion of his recovery in the hands of friends and family. For those who have no children and only pets you know that this can be very hard, and has kept us up late nights and early mornings. I'm hoping that when I return that things will have settled back to normal and that besides a short vacation for my 1 year anniversary (woohoo!) my life will return to normal. Which means doing the things I love, like this! So, until next Monday, peace!

Reality check: Giovanni is out of the game, so we only have Garren, Salereon and Veroca as characters.
What do we do? Continue as we are? Recruit more people?
Anyway, while we decide, please get your characters to level 2. Congratulations!
Salereon Gavriil |
We've still got Garion, he's just on vacation for a week. As for how we are, Ranger, Cavalier, Cleric, Witch seems like a pretty good party to me. Just need to get our witch posting more.
Will update soon
1d10 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Hey Corsario, what alignment do you think Salereon acting. I've got him listed as LG, but not sure if that really fits. 2nd level ability means I need to maintain alignment, so what is he really?
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Corsario |
You are right, Garion will come back, and I hope Veroca gets a little more involved.
I would say Salereon is acting Lawful Good - Lawful Neutral.
But I don't like alignment. Let's forget about that and while Salereon keeps in line with his own convictions he is right with me. And as far you are playing him well, so I don't think that would be an issue.
Garren Kodlak |
Oh yay! A level!
I think we're pretty well off on party composition. I'd like to see Johnny, at least, NPC'd. He's a prety decent chunk of Garren's back story. Perhaps he travels south to try to infiltrate the Stag Lord's inner circle? He scouts for us? Something...
I could see him eventually running our thieve's guild. If Manzcar ever comes back, he might decide to try his hand at the PC again.
We might be well served with one more PC, but I don't think it's necessary if Lexi finds better access to internet.
That said, Lexi has been facing internet issues for months and we're at a decent place to bring in a new PC, if that's a direction we want to go. Posting in the recruitment thread that we're seeking another Arcane PC isn't entirely uncalled for.
Hit Die: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Corsario |
Another option... For you to have more than one character. On "live" games is very difficult, but here I think it can work easily.
Johnny and Giovanni will stay as NPC's, so if you want to assign them tasks, feel free to do it.
To send them to infiltrate the Stag Lord fort... In fact sounds like a great idea.
Salereon Gavriil |
Twilsemail, if you want to run Johnny and Garren I'm cool with it. Probably just stick to one myself. I like the infiltration option, keeps them available IC and OOC, plus gives plenty of room for shenanigans.
Personally, I kind of like the group we've got right now. Garren, Garion, and Salereon have a different feel then most parties I've experienced.
Corsario |
Good, so there is the 4 of you (don't forget Veroca) against all of the Greenbelt.
Make your bets.

Ok. I know I was gone again. >< This time it was a vacation. The good news is, I no longer have any more vacations, I have a computer, the building's internet seems to have stabilized, I'm working on schedules with my therapist to keep me organized, and most of my other friends seem healthy and unlikely to go into the hospital for emergency surgery!
In fact, next month my mother is going to the US for almost two months, giving me a lot of time to be lonely and clingy to you all. :)
Point being, I am here. Most likely my scheduling will put me on one post a day minimum to keep me organized, but that'll be better than on again off again.
Apologies again for the yoyoing. I've been trying different meds and not meds and its wrecking havok with sleep and general ability to focus; either I'm sleeping 14 hours a day, or I'm awake but a zombie.
Hopefully that will work out soon.
Corsario |
Good luck! Slaying it is... Let me finish the map and the exploration begins
Garren Kodlak |
I'm just putting this out there. I think we did this before, but I want to re-iterate.
I do not mind my PC kicking the bucket. I'd rather not have a GM pull punches or put us on easy mode. If the worst comes to pass, I can roll a new PC.
I'm pretty sure that went out to this game, but that might have been with out last GM.
Edit: Looking at the map again... Restov is on the southern border of Brevoy. We traveled south for several days before reaching Oleg's Trading Post. I think the Brevoy / Stolen Lands border should be farther north (several hexes at least).
Corsario |
Did you noticed I took my time with the map? Well, I did my homework, read several sources and got myself some nice maps trying to picture all the situation.
It's more complex than it looks. Let me show you:
This is my draft of the Greenbelt Map: Greenbelt Draft
And this is my map of the Stolen Lands, or most of them: Stolen Lands
So, as you see, Oleg's is NORTH WEST of Restov. The Stolen Lands are a NW-SE band of land between Brevoy North and East; and Pitax and Mivon South and West. It gets confusing because all the maps have the north pointing up and left, and the top of the maps points NE instead of N.
About lethality... normally, as a Master, I have an explicit no-dead-PCs policy (unless the player and myself want and plan for it). But this is Kingmaker, isn't it? So I will let that one go this time :D.
Salereon Gavriil |
I'm not dead yet! The funeral turned into a sooner than expected move back to the state where I am attending university, which somehow further morphed into renovating the apartment near campus. We just finished redoing some floors and deconstructing the basement. The job hunt goes as most hunting does, too long. Huzzah.
The clan of my mother hearkens back to their ancestors, being prolific, industrious, devoted, and with the general temperament of a wolverine. Byzantine schemes and sharpened knifes are shunned in favor of battle-axes and open warfare. Fortunately, as the distant and hippie-fied tribe of the clan, we hold true to the wisdom of our patron Aphrael, hugs and kisses all around! Thus the funeral was navigated without any casualties.
I contrast this with the clan of my father, whose last funeral consisted largely of eating delicious food and deciding who got which piece of artwork. It is both disturbing and enlightening as a child to learn that the beautiful nude torso atop the piano is in fact a life size replica of your grandmother.
I plead forgiveness of this foolishness, and blame it on sleep deprivation, climate change, and the unknowable lifeforms of the basement. Ia! Ia! Cthulhu!
*Infernal is Latin, and Celestial is Arabic, or Sanskrit.
Garion Erada |
Hm... I don't know what Telugu could be. I feel like it's a celestial language. And I just picked Azerbaijani on the fly! Though Bulgarian would have been an equally good choice. I was just thinking something guttural.
Corsario |
In fact, and just to easy your concerns, no, no "higher power" guides you to the tree. Kingmaker is a "Sandbox" adventure, and even as several lead go to the same place, is not needed for you to follow them in a similar order.
The Stag Lord fort, for example, has raised in several conversations. And Kressle's camp too, but now is not important as it has been dealt with.
Garion Erada |
I agree. I think Kobolds are neat!
Corsario |
Also, posting a request in the disussion thread Re: The Map.
What was the requet for?
Garren Kodlak |
Hunh... didn't go through...
I was hoping for a labeling system for the map's hexes. Y'know, columns are Letters and rows are numbers and we say we're heading to C3 to explore? I'd drafted up an example and can post a link to that as soon as I'm able.
http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/14948/Hexagonal-grid-for-games-and-othe r-projects-Part-1
This isn't what I'd drafted, but it's the same idea. 4th image down. Just replace one of the number systems with letters for clarity's sake.
Here's what I was thinking.
Corsario |
I made the changes to the Map.
Oleg's Trading Post is at N7
Thorn's River Bandit Camp is at M9
You are currently in N9
The Stag Lord's Fort is at M12
Corsario |
I think you are on holliday, that's why I am not moving forward.
Happy 4th!
Garion Erada |
Yeah, sorry I forgot to mention being out of town. This weekend I'm in Asheville, NC celebrating our 1 year anniversary. I'll be back to posting Wednesday, my apologies for not mentioning this sooner!
Garren Kodlak |
I've heard there was a vow of poverty in 3.5. I don't know what it did other than make you competent without equipment. Does anyone have info on that feat?
@DM, if the feat's not one of the ridiculous feats from 3.5 that make you a god, would you be willing to entertain allowing it?
Corsario |
If you define it, and sounds nice, why not.
If you just want Garren to be poor, and donate his share of the loot, well, you don't need a feat for that :D
Corsario |
Reality check!
Who is still playing?
How is the game up to now? What can be improved? What have you liked? What is the thing that you dislike the most?
Garren Kodlak |
I'm still around.
I think the rulings and RP that are going out are just splendid.
My only complaint, and I'd be as much at fault for this as anyone else, would be posting rate. We seem to have really declined. I'd like to see us get back to ~1/day.
Garion Erada |
I'm back, and I would like to see the posting rate increase as well, and I am the most guilty. I am thankful that we have still stick with it and look forward to continuing. I'm happy with everything besides that. The DM'ing is great!
Corsario |
Thanks, but really, I would like to know shortcomings to improve them.
And I fear Veroca and Salereon are having "issues" again...
Garren Kodlak |
We as a group are missing a skill monkey, which seems like a problem in Kingmaker.
We're also missing a full time Arcanist. Lexi appears to have lost internet again. Even with Veroca around, Witches occupy an odd spot.
We're sorely lacking in Kobolds...
I'd worried for a long while that this would wind up being a 3 player game with Johnny, Garion and Garren mucking about. At this point, we're down to 4, with two players (at least slightly) MIA. A week's not terrible and this week is a big Vacation week for many Americans. I know my office has been dead all week.
Garion Erada |
Yeah, I've been out twice this month and the problem with vacation is all the catch up that seems to be needed when you get home. I've been home only a few days and I'm just starting to get into the swing of things.
