Post part 1

Del swings down powerfully with his axe onto the beast. It looks as if it is damaging the creature but not to its full potential.

Bozvrig steps back and lets out an intimidating roar, but it doesn’t seem to paying much attention to him considering all of the attacks that are being sent its way.

Dalron breaks free from the webbing that trapped him, tuck and rolls away from the beast and stands up behind his friends. As Dalron is doing this Lanliss steps back and lets loose an arrow. As it is flying through the air the arrow ignites and strikes true.

After being attacked twice by the dwarf, the spider turns its attention once again upon Del. The slick fangs lash out as it tries to bite down past the Dels armor.

@Del last round you mentioned your temporary AC was 19, is it still that?

@Del it says 3 rounds for Guarded Stance next to it. It looks like you have only used it for the last two rounds prior to the last one you took. It doesn’t say if they need to be consecutive or not and don’t see where you used it before. I am going to go ahead and assume you still have that Guarded Stance active for this round still, as your 3rd round.

The spider bites down in what is a near hit, one that looked as if it could have dropped lesser combatants, but Del’s Guarded Stance keeps the spider away.

Scarlet sees his party battling all around the spider and lets an arrow fly. It doesn’t hit and goes wide.

Barnabus moves forward and positions himself in a way not to burn his friends. To do so her needs to get a little close for comfort, but is able to cast in a defensive manner that doesn’t allow the spider to attack out. The DC was 17 and you hit it!

As if to prove his point, Lanliss nimbly backs away from the spider to the edge of the room near the door. Activating another use of the Agile Feet ability.

With the flurry of attacks that have landed on the spider it is looking rough. Its legs are skittering as if it is ready to make some kind of move. You also can tell that even though most of the attacks landed and did damage, you know that they weren’t fully effective.

Bozvrig’s overhand chop misses the mark that could have ended this fight. It quickly moves over the party using its dense webbing to crawl over the party. As it does so, Del and Bozvrig see openings to attack out at the spider. Bozvrig swings back with its axe and finds an opening on the spider that causes it to flinch, but it continues to go on.

It makes its way over the edge of the balcony and falls with a crash. Those who are on the ledge of the balcony see that it crashed into the statue in the middle of the room below and caused it to topple over, breaking it as it hits the ground. The spider continues to make its way out of the door that leads to the waterfall, but doesn’t fully make its way though the opening.

Barnabus and Del take aim from above. Both the Force Missile and the crossbow bolt strike true. The spider begins to limp as it tries to continue forcing itself through the doorway. Truffels hears Bozvrig from above and she charges towards the spider and gores both of her tusk into the meaty part of its abdomen.

The combination of all three attacks causes the spider to slump down and slowly stop squirming before it dies. The party is able to take a breath of fresh air, if you could call this air fresh, once they realize there is nothing else moving in this room besides the party.

Looking among the bodies you find a good amount of gear. On the Varag leader you find a potion, MW Chain Shirt, MW Scimitar, a magical Composite Short bow. 17 arrows, 6 silver arrows, a gold necklace, and 68 gold.

In the balcony you find several webbed bodies. Cutting them open you find the following: 3 Throwing Axes, Heavy Wooden Shield, MW Battleaxe, a satchel containing 2 trail rations, bones, a potion, 2 large diamonds, 12 Platinum coins, and 67 Gold coins.

Attached to one of the skulls you find a little box attached to the forehead by a leather cord. Those who of faith know these things to be a Phylactery.

Bozvrig and Barnabus are scratching their heads when it comes to the spider. You know that the mummy is an undead creature called a Web Mummy. Thinking on it, you remember that these kind of Mummies are used to host a Broodswarm. Once they die they explode the swarm out of them.

K-Arcana DC 16:

The spider is a large spider called a Tomb Spider.

You know that when its victims become poisoned by the Tomb Spider Poison that any time they are healed by positive energy it actually hurts them, and they are healed by negative energy.

You think that the swarm within the Web Mummy was its offspring and that the swarms poison would work the same way.

"Well done, everyone!" the cleric enthuses. "We'll have to let that water thing we just talked to know that we've defeated these creatures. He may be more forthcoming with information about this complex."

Scarlet looks over the diamonds and the gold necklace. He believes the diamonds are worth about 190 gold each and the gold necklace is worth about 90 gold.

Lanliss cast Detect Magic and the things that show up as magical are the shortbow, two potions and the phylactery.

Phylactery of Faithfulness: This item is a tiny box containing religious scripture. The box is affixed to a leather cord and tied around the forehead, worn so that the box sits upon the wearer’s brown.

The wearer of a Phylactery of Faithfulness is aware of any action or item that could adversely affect her alignment and her standing with her deity, including magical effects. She acquires this information prior to performing such an action or becoming associated with such an item if she takes a moment to contemplate it.

Barnabus answers Dalron's question to Lanliss before the elf can "Couldn't be any of the ancient elven battle tricks, those only work when the elves are runnin' away...."

He casts Detect Magic and examines the loot.

"This looks like a pretty nice shortbow, if'n yer inclined to use such things. This one potion is of Cure Moderate Wounds and the Phylactery do-hickey helps a priest know if any of his actions are going to disappoint their deities."

Just incase not everyone knows. With the composite long or shortbow if it has a +X Strength, that means that is the minimum amount of strength needed to use the bow properly. This one is +3, so if you don’t have a minimum of a 16 Str you can still use the bow, but you receive a -2 to attack.

Also, today is a super busy day for me so this will be my only post of the day. Lets pick things up tomorrow. Happy Easter all!

Del is exhausted by the battle, and it's aftereffects, so he finds somewhere to lie down and get his bearings back...and hoping his new wounds don't get infected.

"Hello! We've destroyed the big spider made up of little spiders in the next room and we destroyed the really big spider just upstairs. Was the big spider the one you called 'The Betrayer?' Also, I was wondering if you could tell us what to expect in the rooms beyond? We are still after the evil ones that have attacked villagers."

Is that what you really want to do?

We are effectively “in rounds” so use ooc and regular text to differentiate. This round Bozvrig and Dalron have gone. @Dalron I don’t think you have it but I would allow you to make a K-Arcana check if you have it this round.

You could have taken 10 with that bonus so that there was no chance of failing a DC 16 check.

"I worship Desna, Barnabus!" Lanliss' voice is reaching new octaves as his panic grows. "She doesn't grant me harm spells! Most healing I can do involves positive energy!"

If we're in rounds, then Lanliss has already gone this round. I actually do have a couple things I can try, but a heal check isn't one of them. If anybody has any ranks in Heal, feel free to give it a try.
