Thats what I was trying to check Einar. I looked up the FAQ before posting so I didn't look like a nub, but apparently if its a +3 AoMF then it bypasses Cold Iron. Therefore, I'm assuming (and just assuming mind you), that a +1 AoMF would bypass DR Magic

You can add properties on AMOF without the +1 requirement which is what Einar did, so it gives 1d6 fire, but does not count as a +1. Spend money upgrading it and sure, you can get a +1 AMOF

Einar's first claw catches Grundir on his head and he looks stunned at the blow, then topples to the ground, landing with a resounding crash like a large tree being felled.

Making the assumption you'll stop at 1, you don't need to kill him per se. Hirah was sort of an accident...

"Grundir down, Victory to the mortals!" The female gnome announces.

Several large air elementals whisk Grundir over to the gnome, while grumbling in Auran about the weight. She who checks him over. "Still kicking." The Jyoti walks over then places a hand on him. "Wake up."

The Jyoti facepalms. "What can I say about fighter-types? I swear the armor they wear squeezes all the brain juices out of their heads."

"You have proven yourself worthy in this trial by arms, mortals, and I shall aid you in your quest."A chest appears in her hands, and she hands it to Ravathiel who gives it to Einar. In the chest there is an emerald green headband(headband of inspired wisdom +2), a topaz runestone (runestone of power level 1) and a scepter studded with rubies.(Lesser metamagic rod of extend)

"Would you wish to enjoy our hospitality for a while, or return to the mortal realms?" Queen Titania asks."Should you wish to requisition anything from the First World, feel free to speak to Lirisiel." A leprechaun steps up at the mention of her name.

Hospitality=food and drink, but I'm not surprised if you decline since there's a whole host of tales about eating and drinking in Fairyland

Hmm, if I blow all of my wealth, I can upgrade my chainshirt to +2 and get an amulet of natural amour which takes my AC to 20. Do you guys reckon this is a fair investment? Hmm yeah objectively, I really should. Its a bad call my having the lowest AC in the party I think

Mr. Whiskers let's out a sigh of relief when Grundir goes down. When he wakes and mentions brawling, Mr. Whiskers chuckles.

At the queens proclaimation, he bows to her and says "Thank you, your majesty!"

At mention of hospitality, he looks at Einar for a moment. I'm not sure if we have time for him to recover from such an event, to say nothing of how long he might celebrate. I can just imagine the trouble he and Grundir could get into!

After a few seconds thought, he turns back to the queen and says "Though the offer is quite tempting your majesty, I fear it would delay us too long. We should return to the mortal realm and resume our quest."

When he has a chance, he goes over to Grundir and congratulates him on the battle. "It was only our numbers that allowed us to succeed! I hope if ever I see you again in battle, we will be fighting on the same side!"

He also approaches the gnome and jyoti, thanking them for the healing.

Bed time. Will deal with the rest tomorrow.

Hmm, well if Mithril Breastplate is arriving for my in my future, I'll pick it up, but if someone else (like maybe Einar) might want it, then I'm probably better off stocking up on armor now. Einar thoughts?

Hirah takes the hand and gives it a firm shake. "No hard feelings" she confirms, before offering a wry smile "I would have been more upset if you held back after all, it was a good fight."

"That is a fair statement." Queen Titania nods. "We should not delay your quest any further. Ravathiel, take them back." She commands.

Ravathiel touches the party and the world shimmers for a moment. Then the party finds themselves back in cold, dreary Irrisen, in the part of the forest where the reality siphon used to be. The reality siphon is now gone, and the party hears the hoots of a snow owl from the trees and sees a raging Ulfen man in a spiked grey breastplate with a polar bear on it, wielding a guisarme(Earl Bynjar), and a woman(Nazhema) in blue robes, flying 35 ft in the air.

"And so, the exile returns. I should have had you hanged back then." Earl Bynjar growls. The party notices Earl Bynjar's outlined seems a little blurred. (20% concealment against melee and ranged attacks)

"I suppose I should thank you for ridding me of this fey incursion,”Nazhema says coldly, “but we both know what you’ve cost me already."

Behind them both is a two-story wooden hut dominating the clearing. The hovel stands on enormous chicken legs that restlessly scratch at the ground, but a gigantic manacle of iron, attached to a huge chain bolted to a spike in the earth, shackles the hut in place. An osseous fence surrounds the structure, and two corpses are impaled upon the sharpened bone pickets. A few ravens hop and flutter over the bodies, picking at the choicest bits of flesh.

I apologize if I'm raining on anyones parade here, but I don't see a diplomatic way forward here, so excuse me, but I might as well try to get a free demoralize before hostilities (eventually), break out. Also this Earl Bynjar sounds like a colossal jerk without having really met him before.

Hirah strides into a more prominent position, Greatsword half drawn. "Nonsense, you can thank us by kneeling, dropping all weapons and accepting us as your new superiors" Hirah smirks, attempting a rather cocky attitude in the face of an ice cold winter witch (thats what she is right?). "We handled the fey incursion without too much difficulty, whats to be worried about a man in polarbear pajamas and a women that needs a better social life"

I came up with a dozen worse insults but idk, I didn't want to cross any lines so I went with something very G rated and probably lame. Sorry :(

I think I placed it at max summon range which is all I really want at this stage. Something high up where its out of melee range, ideally so it can keep its aura online, and still in a place where it can fire lasers if she tries sneaky spellcasting.

Both the Earl and Nazhema are unaffected by the aura. The Earl chugs a potion and grows to twice his size.

The earl is enlarged, has 20 ft reach, so if your lantern archon makes light beam attacks, will take AOO, as it is now threatened.

If I'm 30 feet high, does he still hit me though?

Actually there should be no reason for my Archon to be in range. When selecting placement, the only thing I cared about was hitting X with my Light Ray without provoking. That's legitimately it. Therefore, the Lanturn Archon should in no way be anywhere close to the distance of Enlarge Person + Reach Weapon - its always going to be in a safe region, especially as Hirah saw Einar pull off the same trick earlier and knows what a "safe ceiling" is. I don't see what the issue is, she will probably make the concentration check anyway so why is this strategy so OP that I'm apparently forced to take an AoO in order to use it?

I thought you were trying to catch BOTH the Earl and Nazhema in the aura, which IS possible(but exposes you to reach issues, once enlarged) - which isn't a bad idea. If you want I can just place it so that it catches only Nazhema in the aura, and out of the Earl's reach. Then the earl would use his save only when he came into the aura. Im fine with that result as well, and for all intents and purposes, it will be out of the Earl's melee reach.
