Catorze, I actually can't find anything that says what knowledge skill would identify this thing. However, whichever it's supposed to be, you know what you need to.

Catorze sees that the bat-like creature is an elven werebat in his hybrid form. From how he is standing, you can guess that he is probably more likely to use physical attacks than magic. You also know the bites of were-creatures can be very dangerous, sometimes turning the victim into another were-creature.

Rapier, Archaeologist’s Luck: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 2 = 10

Wait a minute. I have a reroll, and this is a boss fight. Let’s use it.

Rapier, Archaeologist’s Luck, 5 star reroll: 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 2 + 5 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Lovissa’s fall momentarily distracts Catorze, but then she catches herself just in time to fight with renewed vigor. Speaking to Bat creature, she calls out, “So... what exactly is your plan here with these abominations? You are defling your own people, and for what? Why do you wish to take living, breathing creatures of grace and beauty, and turn them into shambling, mindless meatbags? Do you not see that your plan is as doomed as you surely will be?”

When the headless creature inevitably slams into her again, Catorze concentrates once again on defense. “That’s it, you idiot. Come here so that I may pierce you again!”

Parry, Archaeologist’s Luck: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 2 = 18
Riposte, Archaeologist’s Luck: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 6 + 2 = 26
Crit?!: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 6 + 2 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Crit Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Aglynn, sorry I missed the DR. How do your kinetic blasts interact with the enemy's DR? (special materials, not damage type)

Unfortunately, I have to be much higher level to bypass materials DR.

Aglynn's blast seems to just bouce off the elf-bat thing.

Catorze swings and destroys the headless body who keeps slamming into her.

I needed a stabilize check from Lovissa for her turn, but I'll keep us moving forward

The elf-bat thing shoots at Aglynn again.
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
This time, the arrow bounces off her armor.

Fola pours a potion carefully down Soddy's throat.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Soddy is again conscious, but still badly hurt.

bold may post: (stabilize check for round 3 needed from Lovissa)
round 3:
Sara
Caena

round 4:
Soddy (3/10 HP, prone)
standing headless body (-7 HP)
Aglynn (14/21 HP)
Catorze
Lovissa (-4/15 HP, unconscious, dying)
werebat
Fola

She feels a sudden tugging sensation, as though she's being pulled down, down, down-

____________

Vision returns, bringing with it a view of a cavernous stone ceiling above and an elven face peering down at her, eyes full of fear.

"Oh! Fola? What-"

The sounds of battle draw her attention and then Soddy realizes that the battle from earlier is still ongoing; she must've gotten knocked down by the bat-elf or one of its drones. The vine leshy scrambles to her feet and sees several of her friends engaging the bat-elf and Caena struggling against the only headless vessel she can see that's still standing. And then she spots Lovissa lying motionless on the ground.

No! Did her vessel break?

Quickly toddling over to get a better vantage point, Soddy takes aim and throws another seed pod!

Seed Pod vs. Green (Ranged Touch; Into Melee): 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (6) + 3 - 4 = 5
Damage (Bludgeoning): 1d6 ⇒ 4

Caena's breath catches in her throat as Lovissa drops right in front of her eyes. "No!!" In fury she turns to the headless whatever-it-is that is standing between Caena and her dying companion. "You, get out of my way!" She lunges with her terbutje with the full intention of destroying this creature of evil. Caena invokes her smite evil on Green.

Attack, assuming that it's evil: 1d20 + 5 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 5 + 3 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 1 = 12
+1 more damage if it's evil outsider or undead. I assume it's not an evil dragon in disguise.

She steps around it and focuses on Lovissa. "Stay with me!"

I can do a cure light wounds next round, if she's not already stabilized by then. Or even if she is, I suppose.

Lovissa groans. Her eyes open sluggishly. Aglynn's above her. She looks worried.

What...?

Lovissa jolts upright and rises to her feet. Hearing the battle rage around her, she narrows her eyes and squints into the darkness.
