It's roll or half rounded up hp, whichever's higher IIRC.
1d6 ⇒ 5
Adding heroism, frigid touch & snowball as spells known. Deeper darkness is the bloodline spell.
+1 spell/day at 2nd, 3rd levels
Her sickle becomes +1 spell storing & I'll drop the masterwork spear and 199 gp cash.
Rime spell added & weapon finesse as the bloodline feat
Jynnjun |
I got the name slightly wrong - Elemental Commixture. That's the teamwork feat where one of us would be able to assist the other's spellcasting to turn a fireball into a steamball, say. It comes with benefits depending on the elements combined.
Last time I mentioned it you said something about catching up on other feats.
Alaka Zam |
Yeah, I had to get selective channeling last time. Clerics can't live without that one.
I guess I could give up point blank shot for that if you think it is worth it. It does sound fun, and my archery is going to suck for a while anyway. It will just take her longer to learn. :)
Done.
Poxy |
HP: 1d8 ⇒ 4
Poxy is all set, I took that fire brand discovery, upgraded bow, bought headband of intellect, and got new spells
Jynnjun |
Hello Elemental Commixture and Elemental Aura, b'bye Rime Spell and Heroism. I don't suppose a bard could pick up the slack on that last some time?
Done.
By my count to be a semi-competent archer you'd need at least 3 feats - point blank shot, precise shot & a damage boost like manyshot and/or deadly aim - and by the time you had all those, spells like chains of light would be available to you and would make the point moot. Even if you start now.
Alaka Zam |
High level spells run out. Weapons don't.
I am aiming (according to your definition) for less than semi-competent. All I want is precise shot, so I don't get a -4 for shooting into melee. Unfortunately, you *have* to take point-blank first. Plus, I don't even have proficiency in the bow, so I have to cast a first level spell to use it... but I do get +1d6 acid damage from my gloves, since corrosive works on ranged weapons as well. ... But maybe I should just go back to my sling. Ugh.
Not trying for the most ideal build here, obviously, or I wouldn't have wasted two feats on becoming a torch fighter. Just trying to have fun with the character.
Jynnjun |
I've tried and failed to run out of spells in this game. Know your GM. If you think that dabbling in archery will be fun though, go for it.
Thinking about it you can get one feat via the training property if you're willing to devote 8K to a +1 training bow (or sling).

GM Redelia |
I agree with Jynnjun that it's about knowing your GM. At least in non-PFS games I tend to be a bit of a 'softie' because I want people to be able to take flavorful choices rather than feeling a need to take the 'best' mechanically. With this group, I feel like we've settled into a good understanding about how the game will go, and I can only hope that you guys are having as much fun as I am.

--------------------
Petrahk Jadetalon was once a human scion of the Viridiax noble bloodline that had intermixed itself with the lineage of an ancient green dragon known as Vyrridianxynx.
Every generation, the Viridiax household was expected to pay a duty of the first-born male to the wyrm, in exchange for which the family lands would be free of draconic predation -- even if the neighbors suffered over the decades, they had not, and it was beneficial to continue the arrangement on both sides of the coin.
The dragon had a nice place to settle down, secured by loyal humans, and life was more or less good.
Petrahk (who was Peter Viridiax at the time) determined that he really did NOT want to be dragon-chow, and schemed to throw the dragon off the trail by altering his physical gender.
...it didn't work out all that well, and Petra ended up going on the run, and finding a nice group to adventure with far, far away from her homeland in Cheliax.
Despite the not wanting to be dragon-chow, the power of the dragon's blood in her veins compelled Petra to continue to seek more and more power, until the point where half her party was Disintegrated by a powerful mage before said mage was defeated.
Desperate to get her friends back, the only people she'd ever really cared about besides herself, she made a Wish with a powerful djinn... who also tended to be a bit of a butthead. Not having the wisdom to know better, and with the sensible members of her party Disintegrated, she made the foolish choice to try and sneak a clause into the Wish to allow herself to become a dragon.
Well, the Djinn in question was looking for both spirit of the Wish as well as wording, and saw quite easily the power-grab that the woman was making.
It granted the Wish, and Petrahk DID become a dragon.
It just wasn't the big acid-breathing behemoth she was expecting, and her scales turning copper with these strange urges to be a 'good dragon' weren't helping either.
She attempted to join several kobold snarls throughout western Avistan, but none of them wanted anything to do with her, since her scales were that of a metallic dragon.
Still, as a kobold they understood what it was like to be small and defenseless, so they'd take her in... until her wanderlust would take hold of her and she'd wander off.
Petrahk has built up some experience and has honed the power of her blood somewhat, but most kobolds don't trust her, and are terrified that if she sticks with them too long, she'll bring the wrath of a true true dragon down upon them.
She has been making her way to Alabastrine, in the Kalistrate of Druma to try and find someone that would be willing to hire her... but her adventures of late have kept her from reaching that goal...
Jynnjun |
FYI Petrahk: us kobolds get just -2 Str and a +4 Dex courtesy of Redelia. Str 10 and Dex 19 will probably make your life as a dragon disciple a little easier.
Your background's very different to Jynnjun's but we'll need to keep an eye out to avoid overlapping too much in mechanics.
Petrahk Jadetalon |
Oh, wow, that does change things a bit. Will rework in a bit
The neat thing is that they're both outcasts but in different ways.
Petrahk Jadetalon |
's all good! Jynn, I don't think we need to worry about too much overlap -- Petrahk doesn't even look at traps (HERESY!) and has more 'direct damage' type spells than 'crowd/area control'.

Hey guys, at a quick glance the new characters look good. This weekend I'll look over them more carefully (I'm sure they're fine, I just want to understand what you guys can do) and we can get moving again on Monday. I also may send a PM or two about how to bring you guys into the group.

Added Kryptyk's back story.
Now the little kobold became curious and abandoned his search for home. Instead he tried to track down this mysterious benefactor Each day he would lose the trail and each morning he would awake to some aid having been placed the night before. He'd never see who was responsible and even if he tried to stay awake all night, he would invariably fall asleep only to awake having been visited while he slumbered.
But during this time of chasing yet never finding, Ryzzyxyl learned to become self-sufficient. Little by little, the kobold was able to provide and care for himself. He needed less and received less each day until one morning, the kobold awoke to find only a small pendant, carved entirely of smooth black stone with a single starburst painted on its thorax.
Though he no longer needed help, he never gave up searching. He would spend a lot of time sneaking around human settlements. When he'd arrived at the outskirts of Phaendar, he heard other people, the humans, there talking about anonymous help they'd received. They'd all said it was cryptic. Ryzzyxyl couldn't nail down a description of this person though he tried. The people who talked about Cryptic described him or her differently. So maybe, he though Cryptic was a group of people that helped others without being seen. So Ryzzyxyl decided that he too must become a Cryptic, so Kryptyk he became.
As Kryptyk, he followed a group of human scouts, Foxclaws they called themselves and began to help them as he could, but always keeping his distance. He began to feel almost as though he were one of them, but still apart from them. He was resolved to help them, but never to meet them. He was Kryptyk and vowed to remain so.

Ok, guys, I'm happy with the new characters, and with everyone's level up. I'm not quite ready to get moving again, but almost there. I still need to talk by PM with the new characters about how to introduce them, and also need to prepare the maps and things. I am hoping that everything will be ready in a day or so.
